This is a well nigh perfect proper pub. Lovely ambience, knowledgeable friendly staff and excellent beer. We couldn't fault a thing. There's even a bowling lane upstairs. Try for a tour of the brewery attached. The brewers are so enthusiastic and dedicated to their craft and all the beer is excellent. Dog friendly and welcoming. A real old fashioned pub just as you would like to remember them. Returning very soon

Visited the Coopers Tavern with friends Saturday afternoon after it was recommended to me as an old fashioned friendly Boozer selling good beer. Sure enough it was exactly that ,friendly comfortably rustic and regularly visited by adults who were in on the secret. After two pork pies and four pints of 'Wandering Monk' ale we left and I was at home asleep by 6.30

A great pub and excellent staff. I frequently visit The Anchor with friends and always have a good time. I would recommend a visit.

Food and staff amazing, however paddy mguiness quiz was awful. Visit here every week and partake in Ian’s quiz which is brilliant, and pub is always packed, tonight however pub was empty apart from our party of 2 and one other table. This was the worst quiz I’ve ever tried, gave up after picture round which is 2nd round as to much talking and time filling and not hosted by paddy as we expected! very impersonal and no community spirit like we normally have, can’t wait for this to end and we get the regular quiz back , a good old fashioned pen and paper quiz, hosted by Ian, which is fun and encourages engagement . However, food , drink and hospitality was spot on

The food and drink was good, but our time in there was completely spoiled by a handful of extremely loud customers. We sat as far away from them as possible, but had to keep stopping our conversation as we couldn't hear each other speak. We made our point to the person clearing our table, who said she would speak to the manager. However, I am of the view that, as long as people keep spending money, nothing will be done to make it a better experience for the majority of people who simply want to eat and drink in a pleasant atmosphere.
