Food and staff amazing, however paddy mguiness quiz was awful. Visit here every week and partake in Ian’s quiz which is brilliant,and pub is always packed, tonight however pub was empty apart from our party of 2 and one other table. This was the worst quiz I’ve ever tried,gave up after picture round which is 2nd round as to much talking and time filling and not hosted by paddy as we expected! very impersonal and no community spirit like we normally have, can’t wait for this to end and we get the regular quiz back , a good old fashioned pen and paper quiz, hosted by Ian, which is fun and encourages engagement . However, food , drink and hospitality was spot on

Great local serving good honest pub grub. We visited last Friday with 8 family members. Attentive and friendly service. Good range of food from curry, to fish and chips, mixed grill and steaks. Highly recommended.

Great night out at the Shoe last night. Ian and the team made us and our 4 friends from Berkshire so welcome. Good food and an attempt at the Paddy McGuinness great quiz night followed. The PM quiz didn't suit the punters though, and to be honest was not very inclusive or fun. So, after a couple of rounds, most people had switched off. Fortunately Ian the landlord had one of his quizzes prepared (as a backup) and a great night followed with loads of brilliant music and laughter. The locals quickly adopt newcomers into the Horseshoe family and make them so welcome. Our friends had a brilliant night. Great fun, well done Horseshoe!

As someone who travels for work and visits many different local restaurants, I can say without a doubt that the Horseshoe Inn is one of my favourite places to visit! Whether it’s to bring my laptop to do some freelance work in the beer garden, or to bring friends to see the area and visit my partner, we always make a trip to see Ian and the team. The food is wonderful and never fails to impress, especially after a long day of travelling to see my partner, it’s the perfect recipe for a lovely evening! Recently we visited the Horseshoe Inn and enjoyed a lovely meal for my partners birthday. Josh behind the bar was incredibly attentive and such a positive to the whole experience, and the food from the kitchen was incredible. The chef is brilliant at what he does and is always friendly and chatty whenever we come by - you really can’t ask for more! I highly recommend popping into see Ian and the team for a cheeky pint and a meal if you’re passing by, a well oiled team with a clearly impressive set of customer service skills. Definitely a local pub with a big heart! Many thanks to the whole team for making each visit a visit to remember, you’ve welcomed us to the area with open arms from our first visit and are a wonderful hub for the community and visitors alike.

Had a voucher through the post. Visited on a Saturday lunch. Fairly friendly welcome and obliging. Fish and chips was good, Mixed grill very average. Poor quality piece of steak that was cooked badly. Raw mushrooms. Luke warm chips. Not the best to be honest. Nice pub let down by this poor meal. Then we found out afterwards that they had charged us more for the food than was shown on the menu. That's a shame.

The warmest of welcomes, really friendly team of staff, excellent food and service and very good value. What more can I say! Went for a Sunday roast and will definitely be going back soon A fabulous pub that’s also dog friendly. The staff really care about their customers including the four-legged ones. We were experiencing the welcome as soon as we stepped out of the car !! Alan happened to be there and had us smiling from the start ! What a fantastic atmosphere and Pub !! Weekend with friends who live local. Fab evening. We were made to feel so welcome enjoyed the food and drink but most importantly the friendly feel. Quiz night and bingo an added bonus. Staff great. With a group of friends, we were welcomed by a friendly team and made to feel so comfortable. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and even shared magic tricks at the table . The food was lovely and we settled in for an evening of fun and entertainment with the quiz, bingo and name the tune games. Not been to the Horseshoe for a while. My wife and I walked in to a great welcome from Susie, a cheery smile and a great atmosphere. Menu selection was so varied, We enjoyed our lunch and a cheap pint on Monday. Quick service and tasty food…. Great stuff. Nice chat with Ian who also made us feel really welcome. Family of 9 including 4 children, after attending the Pumpkin and adventure park down the road we booked for an afternoon meal. The manager/owner (sorry not sure) made us feel very welcome and made a point of interacting with the children giving them Santa letters to complete and said he'd make sure they were posted off to him. The food came very quickly, could not fault the food (Sunday roasts) lots of meat, thick slices which were delicious, and plenty of it! You can also upgrade to a large portion (extra meat and Yorkshire puddings), jugs of hot gravy, I had the vegetarian option of cauliflower cheese tart which was amazing! I also had a dessert Strawberry trifle cheesecake which honestly was one of the best desserts I've had! Children had ice cream with lots of chocolate sauce. There is one thing I am not happy about and that is that I don't live closer so I could go there more often. Thank you so much 😊 10/10 5 *.

Best pub in the area with friendly hard working staff Mondays a must cheap beer must pay it a visit you won’t be disappointed

Service was slow as only one person working the bar and also serving food. No cutlery on the tables (had to go and collect my own), no serviettes available either. Table was sticky. Kitchen could be heard continually hitting bell for waiting staff to deliver food, in the end the chef brought out the food himself. Ordered a “mega mixed grill” but was told 10 minutes later I couldn’t have it due to insufficient ingredients, so was given a regular mixed grill instead. The starters of chicken strips and breaded mushrooms were ok but had obviously spent too long in the fryer. Main courses (mixed grill & hunters chicken) arrived, the salad with the chicken looked manky and unappetising, the egg was over cooked, the tiniest piece of gammon was mostly fat & the steak was gristle and super chewy with the mixed grill. When paying for the meal, the serving staff had to be reminded that a mega mixed grill was not had, as they had not adjusted the bill. Overall, we left feeling disappointed with our experience and both agreed we wouldn’t eat there again.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with the family which was lovely and very good value for money. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly from the minute we arrived and service was great throughout our visit. I would definitely recommend and visit again. It was a pleasure dining at this pub! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. I especially enjoyed the Ultimate chicken burger and the mix grill was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our experience was enjoyable. The prices were reasonable, and I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great meal and a good time.

We went to watch the FA Cup match in the bar and true to form, Ian the landlord had pulled out all the stops to make sure the the big screen TV in the bar, and the huge screen in the Lounge were on for all to see. Even supplied sandwiches, chips and nibbles at no charge. Great service and a great local!!

A friend visited recently and posted with photos on FB what a state the animal enclosures in the garden were. They thought they were unused. Then they noticed about 6 dead chicks and the adult hen and one chick in a state and informed the staff who did not give a damn. No food or water in the pen. They told the staff they were taking the remaining hen & chick to the RSPCA. They said the staff couldn't care less. The management and Marstons need to be held accountable for this atrocious lack of animal care. I personally will never set foot in the place ever again.
