The Horse Shoe Inn in East Staffordshire

Not been to the Horseshoe for a while. My wife and I walked in to a great welcome from Susie, a cheery smile and a great atmosphere. Menu selection was so varied, We enjoyed our lunch and a cheap pint on Monday. Quick service and tasty food…. Great stuff. Nice chat with Ian who also made us feel really welcome. Look forward to next visit.

Family of 9 including 4 children, after attending the Pumpkin and adventure park down the road we booked for an afternoon meal. The manager/owner (sorry not sure) made us feel very welcome and made a point of interacting with the children giving them Santa letters to complete and said he'd make sure they were posted off to him. The food came very quickly, could not fault the food (Sunday roasts) lots of meat, thick slices which were delicious, and plenty of it! You can also upgrade to a large portion (extra meat and Yorkshire puddings), jugs of hot gravy, I had the vegetarian option of cauliflower cheese tart which was amazing! I also had a dessert Strawberry trifle cheesecake which honestly was one of the best desserts I've had! Children had ice cream with lots of chocolate sauce. There is one thing I am not happy about and that is that I don't live closer so I could go there more often. Thank you so much 😊 10/10 5 *.

Service was slow as only one person working the bar and also serving food. No cutlery on the tables (had to go and collect my own), no serviettes available either. Table was sticky. Kitchen could be heard continually hitting bell for waiting staff to deliver food, in the end the chef brought out the food himself. Ordered a “mega mixed grill” but was told 10 minutes later I couldn’t have it due to insufficient ingredients, so was given a regular mixed grill instead. The starters of chicken strips and breaded mushrooms were ok but had obviously spent too long in the fryer. Main courses (mixed grill & hunters chicken) arrived, the salad with the chicken looked manky and unappetising, the egg was over cooked, the tiniest piece of gammon was mostly fat & the steak was gristle and super chewy with the mixed grill. When paying for the meal, the serving staff had to be reminded that a mega mixed grill was not had, as they had not adjusted the bill. Overall, we left feeling disappointed with our experience and both agreed we wouldn’t eat there again.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with the family which was lovely and very good value for money. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly from the minute we arrived and service was great throughout our visit. I would definitely recommend and visit again. It was a pleasure dining at this pub! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. I especially enjoyed the Ultimate chicken burger and the mix grill was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our experience was enjoyable. The prices were reasonable, and I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great meal and a good time.

We went to watch the FA Cup match in the bar and true to form, Ian the landlord had pulled out all the stops to make sure the the big screen TV in the bar, and the huge screen in the Lounge were on for all to see. Even supplied sandwiches, chips and nibbles at no charge. Great service and a great local!!

Friendly and authentic English country pub with friendly and helpful staff and clientele. Good food and beer, and a useful stop for walks given it's at the base of Battlestead Hill and the surrounding National Forest woodlands, not to mention the picturesque village of Tatenhill. A friend visited recently and posted with photos on FB what a state the animal enclosures in the garden were. They thought they were unused. Then they noticed about 6 dead chicks and the adult hen and one chick in a state and informed the staff who did not give a damn. No food or water in the pen. They told the staff they were taking the remaining hen & chick to the RSPCA. They said the staff couldn't care less. The management and Marstons need to be held accountable for this atrocious lack of animal care. I personally will never set foot in the place ever again.

I've visited this pub many times in the past and in the last few years its seen various different mangers, some good some bad but the present one is shocking.

Well the landlord was in the local paper crying because the local road was closed and he said it was affecting trade hmm I don’t think so well in fact the staff run away at the bar and on our visit the card machine did not work cash only tick tick before it’s turned into flats

Hay una zona de juegos para que los niños (8 de ellas entre 14 y 7) podría quemar algo de energía entre campos. Yo estaba un poco sorprendido cuando entramos y no reconocer el personal. El servicio estaba bien, las dos mujeres eran preciosas, pero la noche estaba decepcionado por la comida que estaba lejos del nivel que había llegado a disfrutar. Carne de mi esposa estaba fría y el pescado, mientras que grandes, era menos que apetitoso. Los niños a través de ellos, como waded que lo harían, pero sólo por corto de 200 libras nos sentimos decepcionados. Preguntamos si había cambiado de manos y la señora sacudió su cabeza tristemente. El cierre de la carretera principal hacia la A38 desde Tatenhill en Branston nosotros actualmente cerrada debido a la urbanización masiva que está pasando. Marstons Brewery se han negado a ayudar el pub durante tiempos difíciles, así que claramente a la izquierda. Simplemente muestra lo que ocurre cuando están en cargos contables. Saben el costo si todo y el valor de nada. Los anteriores dueños comprendieron la calidad y el regreso de negocios que de ella. Ahora tienen el mismo menú al mismo precio pero una fracción si la calidad. Lo que era un lugar concurrido y próspera es ahora privado de clientes y el ambiente. No más noches de música, nada de atraer a los clientes. Tuvimos que tomar un desvío de varias millas para llegar allí con grandes expectativas. Tal vez nos volveremos a intentarlo en 12 meses.
