Had fatty undercooked bacon, the soggiest tinned tomatoes, deep fried hashbrowns, low grade sausage despite the menu clearly stating sausages (plural) Actually grateful i only got one. Pretty much thrown at me.

Place needs a lick or two of paint. Food quality average, quantity just right. Staff hit and miss which adds to the charm

The hotel is located a short walk from the train station and is located close to the main shopping areas in the town. On check in, staff were friendly and pleasant. My room was located on 1st floor on main road. However, room was not noisy but would imagine if you needed to open the window this might be different. Bedroom was clean and suitable for a short stay. Bathroom was clean although base of shower unit had cracks and should be repaired at some point. The sink was located in the bedroom rather than the bathroom which is odd and placement of mirror made it awkward for shaving. Breakfast was ok, with choices of cereals and full English. Staff were pleasant and accomdating.

Have known this hotel for 45 years. It was once a very smart place but it is a shadow of its former self. It is in need of a complete refurbishment. My room had twin beds, one of which was uncomfortable but both were clean. The communal toilets were also clean. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. When I got home I phoned the hotel to query the bill and I was told that the manager would call me back. He didn't bother.

Hotel needs updating. Room clean, unable to get hot water in the shower. I was on the top floor and it was at the front and noisy. Breakfast was nice and staff pleasant.

This is a good place to stay for a visit to the National Brewery Centre and the shops. The rooms aren't that great (I have been in a lot better for under £50) although the beds are comfortable and most rooms share a bathroom and toilets.

This is a quirky Arthurian-themed budget hotel that's a load of fun. It's ideally located between the railway station and the town centre, with plenty of eateries nearby. The staff were superb - they couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. I work away from home a lot and a friendly face counts for so much.

I have been here many times with friends and I can honestly say the service just gets better and better. The carvery as always was superb and we are always greeted with a warm welcome. The new manager is fab along with the rest of the staff. We will definately be coming back as we enjoy the rooms; food and welcoming atmosphere

I ate here once afew years ago, so sadly I cant quite remember how the quality of it was. But the rooms a nice for the price you pay, surprisingly quiet as well, for saying your right in the town centre :) The staff are lovely as well, especially the chap who runs the place, very delightful.

I have eaten at the Grail court on many a Sunday lunch when the have a carvery. The meat is always good and the variety of vegetables is amazing. All beautifully cooked. Worth a visit but you should book on Sunday lunchtime.

As Chairman of a local chain of charity shops I was given the task of finding a suitable venue to take out our shop volunteers (approx. 30) for an evening meal. Just by chance I was passing the Grail Court and popped in to enquire if they could handle a party of 30. I met Brian the manager who could not have been more helpful in organising our function. On his recommendation we opted for the carvery. To come to the point the meal was excellent, the service first class and the atmosphere tremendous. Everyone I have spoken to since our function is full of praise for the quality of the food and the service received and lets face it if you can please 30 ladies of shall I say mature years then you must be doing something right. Thank you Brian and staff for an excellent evening.

I really wanted this hotel to be a treat rather than a chore. It's centrally located and prices include breakfast and on the face of it, offers the character that Travel Lodge and Premier Inn lack. Unfortunately, it delivered only disappointment. My double room would have been cramped if I had been sharing it; the ensuite bathroom was no more than a tiny cabin containing a toilet and shower and the basin was in the room itself. The light above the basin didn't have a lamp and the mirror was so low, I was not able to shave without stooping. The hotel was charmless. All the decoration was tired and clearly had not been updated for decades. The overall ambience was of a hostel rather than a hotel. And, as for the breakfast, I haven't got a clue whether it was the one highpoint since it started at 7:30am, far too late for me to catch the bus and get into the office by 8am. As sad as it is to say, I prefer the anodyne Travel Lodge.

Stayed at the queen's Hotel Burton on trent, For a three star hotel they don't sell food or drink, as for the rooms are disgusting the furniture is full of stains ant the bathroom was filthy and cigarette burns in the bath. I wrote the the hotel to complain with photos of the room but had no reply from them so I decided to leave a review on here as I wouldn't like other's to be disappointed. If I wasn't running 2 hours late to where I needed to be I wouldn't of stayed.

We set out as a group of people from all over the country to meet as a reunion for most after 40 years . As soon as we approached the venue it was clean tidy and buzzing inside … entering it was busy and we thought it was going to be difficult to get food as a group … Jess K was extremely helpful and navigated us to a table made sure we were comfortable and the. Served us for the evening . Even assisted us with a group photo . Jess K was kind and helpful along with her colleagues as we new they were busy
