My local bakers, so called in to get a pasty and some cakes. Service was appalling. Kept working at the oven and setting out goods without a word of 'sorry to keep you waiting' or. better still, showing a bit of customer service by stopping and serving me. Service when it came was unsmiling, and the pasty was lukewarm at best, though to give it its due, it was tasty (chicken). Most of the stuff it sells is fine - I like their cakes and pastries - it's just the service that lets it down. (This wasn't just this time. Being the local bakers my daughter and I have used it several times in the recent past and the experience has always been the same or similar).

I have been to The Oxford many times and it never disappoints. The landlady is very nice and friendly and so are the regulars. Every time I've gone in here I've had a laugh. Everyone seems to talk to each other, even if they don't really know you, which I like. It is decorated nice and toilets are always clean. They have a fire inside which is very cosy in winter. Overall, lovely, warm and friendly pub.

The options for lunch was I dismal winter soup or a sausage roll. £30 we had the worst sausage roll I have ever tasted. What a waste.

There are now two eat in coffee and snack shops in this terrace, both doing well but to the extent that at peak times they can be full. That and the pressure on parking places means that you can be stuck and hungry but that’s where Friary kicks in because they do still have a good range pasties etc, sticky buns slices and all the rest. No wonder there is often a queue.

The bar and restaurant are not available. They are piled high with junk. Nothing available on premises.

Waited 20 mins queuing to place order behind only 2 others. Asked for receipt when we were shocked at cost of of £27 for 2 bacon baps and chips and 3 teas. It turns out the 2 small bowls of chips were £12 which i have never paid anywhere not even in London. This is second time we have had a bad experience here and won't be returning to for a third.

Visited table for four took 15 minutes to take order 20 minutes to get starters then 30 minutes for main complained to manager who came up with a check list of times to show it was not slow with the comment this is not a fast food restaurant it then continued with coffee first then one sweet 15 minutes after that the rest of the sweets never had coffee before sweets before. Other people in restaurant seemed to be one course ahead of us yet we were first in restaurant . I think it showed a lack of management control and I felt that because we complained the service got worse. Food quality was very good but for the price I would expect a better service. Having eaten in a lot of top restaurants I would expect better. At no time was the staff going to accept that the customer was correct , just wanted to cause a confrontation over the timing . We will not be going back although the ambience was lovely cannot forgive the service.

An odd spot to find a routine baker’s shop beside a busy suburban road close to an hectic little roundabout. Part of. Plymouths biggest remaining locally based chain of bakeries selling a lot of pasties, sticky buns, iced slices, cream doughnuts etc.

So the hot drinks, served out of a machine, which is ok I guess, but only fill half the cup they server it in, which are tapered too, so you get about 3 mouthfuls if you are lucky, for £3.50! A comment was made that they weren't serving half measures, the cups are just big, no, the cups were perfectly normal, you are serving very small hot drinks and now, we'll never go back. What would it really cost to just fill the cups up? There was a button on the machine that indicated it could do a larger drink, use it, and your customers will be far happier. It's places like this that make it hard to support local independent businesses, £3.50 would have bought me a far larger drink at somewhere like Costa, hand crafted, and not out of a machine that's probably using instant powders. It's a real shame as the location is fantastic and the view is really good, it was quiet, and plenty of space. Didn't try any food, if they even did it, it was hard to tell as we saw little indication of menus etc. There is plenty of room to improve things, just hope they can.

Went for afternoon tea with my family . Have been before and this time unfortunately was a bit disappointed. No sandwich’s were given instead had a little bacon tart ( only 1 for the two of us ) a cheese ball etc . Would have been better with sandwich’s . Scones were lovely . View absolutely wonderful from the windows . Staff of Halo , AL ( first day ) and the waitress were really pleasant and helpful . Please change it back to sandwiches . Unfortunately feel it certainly wasn’t worth £35 .

Nice place, very clean. Attentive and very patient staff. Good selection of Drinks, the food was limited aside Burgers and Pizza. I had a burger and so did my son from the Kids Menu, I ate mine as starving and not had a chance to eat all day, it was tasty, but like my sons it was extremely Salty>Not sure why. My daughter had Pizza and it was rather basic. My Wifes Seafood dish was very hot in spite of being told the hot and spicy would be served seperate>It was not it was within the Batter.

We always use this chinese takeaway, and have always been pleased. I don't mind paying if the dishes go up in price, but when you get less and pay more ,it's a bit galling. I asked the man on the phone why we only get 8 chicken balls instead of the 10 that used to come with the order. He said its always been 8, but when I said I was looking at the menu, he checked and said its an old menu. Well, it hasn't always been 8 then has it, no-one likes being ripped off, and don't lie.
