Visited table for four took 15 minutes to take order 20 minutes to get starters then 30 minutes for main complained to manager who came up with a check list of times to show it was not slow with the comment this is not a fast food restaurant it then continued with coffee first then one sweet 15 minutes after that the rest of the sweets never had coffee before sweets before. Other people in restaurant seemed to be one course ahead of us yet we were first in restaurant . I think it showed a lack of management control and I felt that because we complained the service got worse. Food quality was very good but for the price I would expect a better service. Having eaten in a lot of top restaurants I would expect better. At no time was the staff going to accept that the customer was correct , just wanted to cause a confrontation over the timing . We will not be going back although the ambience was lovely cannot forgive the service.

Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel
Food is okay and good atmosphere, but definitely horrible service. Most of the waiters don’t know what they’re doing, and it takes forever for them to come to take your order.

7 & 8 St Johns PlaceI have a pet peeve against staff being dressed down in front of the public by management, but unfortunately that is what happened while we were at The Garrick. It doesn’t matter how good the food and drink is if you’re going to sit in complete discomfort after a grumpy manager has a very loud go at a young waitress just because she made a mistake. We don’t care about mistakes as we like being served by humans; we don’t like when bullies cause the same young girl to almost cry while being shouted at mere feet away from us while we try to enjoy our food (though I don’t think this should happen behind the scenes either, of course.) From reading another review, I see this is not a one-off incident. Not worth the awful atmosphere.

42 Bristol RoadPopped in for breakfast as we were in the area visiting family. The morning staff and Manager were lovely and welcoming. The food was good, fresh and hot. Good value for money. Will definitely be visiting again.
