It seems busy here, a proper ole English pub. Service was just ok. I would have thought more staff would have been available on one of the busiest weeks of the year was the only observation. Staff looked exhausted.

Lovely, cosy pub with great atmosphere and decently priced food! The server who I believe was named Sarah was incredibly patient and helpful, and was a great part of our visit. Food was delicious, the crab burger was so fresh and flavourful and the chicken and bacon sandwich was made with yummy bread and was cooked to perfection! The fries side was an extremely generous portion for only £3.25 too. Drinks were also incredibly reasonable. It was very busy due to the Christmas season, but the vibes were so great and the staff were working incredibly hard. Thank you for such a nice meal!

My wife and I popped in for lunch today, December 27th. We both ate the vintage cheddar and bacon burger and it was delicious. As a chef I don't expect too much, but the burgers were exceptional. They were perfectly cooked, nicely charred on the outside but still juicy on the inside with a real beef flavour. The chips were also good though the portions were a little small. The food was served promptly by friendly professional staff. I would definitely recommend The Saracens Head in Bath.

Didn't have food this time just tried one of their special beers. Staff were very friendly and considering there were only two on duty during a busy day, they did well.

Decent enough pub that is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Olde worlde type look to it. Clean and tidy. Beer served wasn’t great. It was ok though. Didnt stop me going in a few times and will definitely return.

Stopped in to avoid the rain and cold. Great staff, friendly and helpful! Warm, cozy place to settle in and enjoy a drink or two. We will be back!

Visited here today it was terrible. We both ordered chicken and bacon chiabata sandwich, my bread was burnt inside so I took it up to the bar and said I couldn't eat it. One of the staff came to the table and asked what the problem was. I explained what the problem was and was asked would I like a replacement, since I had paid for it I told him yes. A second one was served the bread hadn't been cooked at all, it was cold as if it had been taken out of the fridge and the filling put in. I couldn't get this either I just ate the filling. When he came and asked was it ok I told him it hadn't been cooked at all and was cold. He said would I like a refund which I thought was a ridiculous question as it was inedible. Went to use the ladies only to find it was filthy, this is supposed to be the oldest pub in Bath and I don't think they have had a cleaner for the same length of time. The toilet was blocked, paper on the floor the paint work had never seen a mop or any other cleaning product. I told the member of staff at the bar when I went to get my refund for the food he showed no interest whatsoever, I asked his name which he said was Jack and I told him I didn't like his attitude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and it's a disgrace to the Greene king pub group name.

Marvellous place. A spacious maze of a history filled pub. I was well impressed, especially to discover this is where Charles Dickens wrote his first novel, Pickwick Papers. Food n booze also good.

It's a casual pub in the neighborhood, and it's not that noisy. It's my first time going there, but the atmosphere was nice and not awkward. Fish and chips and a glass of lager cost about 24 pounds, which seems a bit expensive compared to the amount of food.

Lovely place to stop at the end of the markets. Food was amazing and served quick and to our liking, staff were helpful and checked on us to see how we liked the food. Overall a great pub to relax and learn about their historical elements!

My wife and I were visiting Bath for the Christmas Market and discovered the Saracens Head when we went for a walk to find somewhere to have lunch, and to escape the crowds. it doesn't look very big from outside but seems to go on forever once inside. We wanted a steak ciabatta but unfortunately they had run out. We had chicken and bacon ciabatta instead and certainly weren't disappointed. We order one between us with fried and we could barely finish it. Great value for money in a pub with loads of character and history. Friendly staff who checked that the food was OK - it was more than OK. We will certainly call in again when we next visit Bath.

Lovely pub with such a welcoming atmosphere. Staff are always so friendly and this encourages customers to be the same. Great events through the week, with Big Squash comedy on Wednesday nights never failing to entertain. Also look out for open mic on Tuesdays and a quiz every Thursday.

What a fiasco! Service appalling. Ordered 2 pints & 2 dinners. One order was not available to ordered fish & chips instead. Only one dinner delivered, no fish & chips so had to order a second time. The lady who took our order wasn’t bothered and almost simultaneously sat with her own fish & chips leaving us to eat our meals one after the other without apology. Wilted garnish, chips weren’t quite cooked and poorly plated up! Beer was ok but despite only a few customers and numerous staff, nobody could be bothered to clear plates and ask if we wanted another beer or desert so we went elsewhere to carry on eating & drinking. I wouldn’t bother going if you like staff to be friendly. I’ll not go back.

Possibly the worst Roast Dinner we've experienced - avoid at all costs! I feel slightly robbed for having paid £33 for 2 of us. Only reason for the two star rating is the pint of Guinness was actually pretty good. Apart from that, poor service from the staff members who dealt with us (first lady who took our order at the bar not at all helpful and the guy who served our food failed to come back and ask our feedback, hence the review), a lot of the menu out of order with no kids options, roast dinner unbelievably bad; cold potatoes (new not roasties, how can you have a roast with no roasties?), raw carrots, pathetic limp frozen yorkshires, fatty pork and half a cabbage (what!?). I can imagine whoevers dishing them up, out the back and straight out the microwave, is having a good old chuckle to themselves because it's daylight robbery.

Great pub, great beer, great staff, great history, visited by Dickens etc. Would benefit from less 'funky' music during the daytime perhaps. The modern world's recourse to pop music on all occasions conflicts with the traditional contemplative noise of an ale house.

Not a bad place for Bath, it was the second time we visited while in the area. The pub is old and nice,but there is too much of a dump smell. The lady's toilets had a very strong smell of dampness and wetness,even pub have too much of a smell. Like they really need a big fire place to make place cozy. Service friendly and helpful. But really need to work on- to warm the place up!

En el bar nos dijeron que la cocina cerraría en 10 minutos, no hay problema. Pedimos nuestras bebidas y luego en 2 minutos subimos de nuevo al bar para pedir comida. Barmaid se disculpó mucho entonces diciendo que el chef no le había dicho más órdenes. Solo estábamos allí para la comida, pero no fue su culpa, simplemente tuvimos mala suerte con el momento. Bonito lugar dentro, sin embargo, y la comida que la mesa de al lado se había visto y olía encantador.

Exactly what you would expect from a Greene King with an extra shot of history thrown in. Great pub hidden close to Bath city centre, serving decent pub food at a reasonable price. Staff all friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Cozy pub, perfect for a pint and a snack right in the middle of the Bath tourist attractions. Service was excellent, atmosphere was fun, and super cool to get a drink at the pub where Charles Dickens hung out.

waited 2 years to return to Bath. Was really looking forward to eating at the Saracens again, went in full of expectation only find find they basically had nothing available that was on the menu. Shocking on a bank holiday Sunday no wonder the pub was dead when everywhere else was busy. Really disappointed. Whoever runs the place now needs the sack quick before you destroy a beautiful pub.

Oldest pub in Bath apparently 1713. Bigger than it looks. Quite pricey though.

This is a great little pub, friendly staff, and fun music playing. Our bartender, Dale, was a delight. The cask cider was delicious as well!!

Sarah is an excellent bartender - she poured the perfect Guinness and glass of coke. It was refreshing and just what I needed on a Friday evening after a long day at work. Thank you very much!

Had to visit the oldest pub in Bath after the bus tour. Great selection of ales and lunch was good, steak ciabatta was particularly tasty. Service was great too, loved the atmosphere.

Just finished the free City Tour! Stopped in the Saracens Head pub for a pint. This is an establishment where Dickens used to stay! Very cool vibe, excellent taps, and delicious food! A definite must if visiting Bath!!

The Best Upcoming Comedy night in the south! I went to the famous Saracens Head last week For there weekly (Wednesday) comedy night and it was absolutely fantastic! Being a regular comedy enthusiast, the range of comedians was second to none If you visit Bath -this is a must!!

Great pub full of history, lovely food, burgers are delicious, friendly staff and very helpful. Atmosphere was on point. Charles dickens would stay here back in the day.

The toilets were vile, the food was horrific. The garlic bread was hard and tough, and didn’t even taste like garlic bread! The server was miserable, at least the drinks were okay. God forbid I wanted my garlic bread to taste like garlic bread! The pub itself is dingy and dark, the paint looks like it’s coming off the walls and there’s barely anyone in there. The prices for the food were ridiculous for what they were. Not a good look for the ‘oldest pub in Bath’.

Best service from Dale. He was so warm and welcoming and made my birthday so special! Would definitely come back especially for the drinks and food😋 if you’re looking for somewhere to play pool and have a great experience watching sports - this is the place to go. Lots of screens. Couldn’t recommend anywhere more

Really nice pub. The best fish and chips I’ve had in probably the last two decades. Friendly staff. Great ale. This place is a no brainer if you are nearby and want to grab a bite and/or a beer.

Went to this pub late on a Monday night for a final drink after having supper elsewhere (close by). Lovely old pub with an interesting history and a Charlie Dickens connection. Beer was good and staff lovely.

Reputed to be the oldest pub in Bath. Food was good and the beer fine.

Decent food (chips were excellent but the sandwhiches left a lot to be desired) and the staff were super friendly and attentive.

Helpful staff The food was just okay. My fish n chips were really greasy and the peas were cold, the chicken Kiev portion was tiny. The burger and the Korean chicken burgers were ok. The pub needs a renovation- bathroom was pretty grotty. Not a good showcase of an old pub for tourists.

We didn't eat here, but it was a nice pub, good beer, friendly service (even with 16 of us) and the pool table was a plus.
