Excellent traditional English pub! Lovely decor and atmosphere. Great spot to watch the rugby

What a fiasco! Service appalling. Ordered 2 pints & 2 dinners. One order was not available to ordered fish & chips instead. Only one dinner delivered, no fish & chips so had to order a second time. The lady who took our order wasn’t bothered and almost simultaneously sat with her own fish & chips leaving us to eat our meals one after the other without apology. Wilted garnish, chips weren’t quite cooked and poorly plated up! Beer was ok but despite only a few customers and numerous staff, nobody could be bothered to clear plates and ask if we wanted another beer or desert so we went elsewhere to carry on eating & drinking. I wouldn’t bother going if you like staff to be friendly. I’ll not go back.

Possibly the worst Roast Dinner we've experienced - avoid at all costs! I feel slightly robbed for having paid £33 for 2 of us. Only reason for the two star rating is the pint of Guinness was actually pretty good. Apart from that, poor service from the staff members who dealt with us (first lady who took our order at the bar not at all helpful and the guy who served our food failed to come back and ask our feedback, hence the review), a lot of the menu out of order with no kids options, roast dinner unbelievably bad; cold potatoes (new not roasties, how can you have a roast with no roasties?), raw carrots, pathetic limp frozen yorkshires, fatty pork and half a cabbage (what!?). I can imagine whoevers dishing them up, out the back and straight out the microwave, is having a good old chuckle to themselves because it's daylight robbery.

Had the best time eating here! Ordered a Ribeye Steak and WOW! Will absolutely be eating here again. Great service and food!

Great pub, great beer, great staff, great history, visited by Dickens etc. Would benefit from less 'funky' music during the daytime perhaps. The modern world's recourse to pop music on all occasions conflicts with the traditional contemplative noise of an ale house.

Not a bad place for Bath, it was the second time we visited while in the area. The pub is old and nice,but there is too much of a dump smell. The lady's toilets had a very strong smell of dampness and wetness,even pub have too much of a smell. Like they really need a big fire place to make place cozy. Service friendly and helpful. But really need to work on- to warm the place up!

Disfrutamos de un almuerzo encantador (increíble huevo escocés casero (menú Especiales) , tostadas, pescado con patatas fritas además de una gran pinta de gallina de oro, copa de vino. La persona del bar era muy amable y hizo que nuestra visita fuera agradable. Mucho espacio. Gran pub tradicional.

Exactly what you would expect from a Greene King with an extra shot of history thrown in. Great pub hidden close to Bath city centre, serving decent pub food at a reasonable price. Staff all friendly and helpful. Recommended.

En el bar nos dijeron que la cocina cerraría en 10 minutos, no hay problema. Pedimos nuestras bebidas y luego en 2 minutos subimos de nuevo al bar para pedir comida. Barmaid se disculpó mucho entonces diciendo que el chef no le había dicho más órdenes. Solo estábamos allí para la comida, pero no fue su culpa, simplemente tuvimos mala suerte con el momento. Bonito lugar dentro, sin embargo, y la comida que la mesa de al lado se había visto y olía encantador.

Cozy pub, perfect for a pint and a snack right in the middle of the Bath tourist attractions. Service was excellent, atmosphere was fun, and super cool to get a drink at the pub where Charles Dickens hung out.

waited 2 years to return to Bath. Was really looking forward to eating at the Saracens again, went in full of expectation only find find they basically had nothing available that was on the menu. Shocking on a bank holiday Sunday no wonder the pub was dead when everywhere else was busy. Really disappointed. Whoever runs the place now needs the sack quick before you destroy a beautiful pub.

Oldest pub in Bath apparently 1713. Bigger than it looks. Quite pricey though.

This is a great little pub, friendly staff, and fun music playing. Our bartender, Dale, was a delight. The cask cider was delicious as well!!

Sarah is an excellent bartender - she poured the perfect Guinness and glass of coke. It was refreshing and just what I needed on a Friday evening after a long day at work. Thank you very much!

Had to visit the oldest pub in Bath after the bus tour. Great selection of ales and lunch was good, steak ciabatta was particularly tasty. Service was great too, loved the atmosphere.

Just finished the free City Tour! Stopped in the Saracens Head pub for a pint. This is an establishment where Dickens used to stay! Very cool vibe, excellent taps, and delicious food! A definite must if visiting Bath!!

It’s 32 degrees in Bath, the British don’t seem to care about air conditioning, enter the Saracens Head, the cool embrace of an actual heat pump will bring you joy and cool you down.

The Best Upcoming Comedy night in the south! I went to the famous Saracens Head last week For there weekly (Wednesday) comedy night and it was absolutely fantastic! Being a regular comedy enthusiast, the range of comedians was second to none If you visit Bath -this is a must!!

Great pub full of history, lovely food, burgers are delicious, friendly staff and very helpful. Atmosphere was on point. Charles dickens would stay here back in the day.

The toilets were vile, the food was horrific. The garlic bread was hard and tough, and didn’t even taste like garlic bread! The server was miserable, at least the drinks were okay. God forbid I wanted my garlic bread to taste like garlic bread! The pub itself is dingy and dark, the paint looks like it’s coming off the walls and there’s barely anyone in there. The prices for the food were ridiculous for what they were. Not a good look for the ‘oldest pub in Bath’.

Best service from Dale. He was so warm and welcoming and made my birthday so special! Would definitely come back especially for the drinks and food😋 if you’re looking for somewhere to play pool and have a great experience watching sports - this is the place to go. Lots of screens. Couldn’t recommend anywhere more

Really nice pub. The best fish and chips I’ve had in probably the last two decades. Friendly staff. Great ale. This place is a no brainer if you are nearby and want to grab a bite and/or a beer.

Went to this pub late on a Monday night for a final drink after having supper elsewhere (close by). Lovely old pub with an interesting history and a Charlie Dickens connection. Beer was good and staff lovely.

Reputed to be the oldest pub in Bath. Food was good and the beer fine.

Decent food (chips were excellent but the sandwhiches left a lot to be desired) and the staff were super friendly and attentive.

Helpful staff The food was just okay. My fish n chips were really greasy and the peas were cold, the chicken Kiev portion was tiny. The burger and the Korean chicken burgers were ok. The pub needs a renovation- bathroom was pretty grotty. Not a good showcase of an old pub for tourists.

We didn't eat here, but it was a nice pub, good beer, friendly service (even with 16 of us) and the pool table was a plus.

Dale, Zoey, Tor and the gang were absolutely fantastic. They were helpful, kind, courteous the service was fantastic. I would recommend this wonderful historical pub to anyone. I hope I come back to Bath. I will definitely return to Saracens Head! Thanks for a great time!

i came into the saracens head with a group of my friends and the staff were very friendly, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back again!

I love this place Charles Dickenson wrote a book here. The staff went above and beyond with us and let us take home a book from the old library. So very nostalgic. Highly recommend.

Lovely pub, staff were brilliant!

Atmosphere abounds in this traditional pub. Beer was great and food was fast and hot. We only have the appetizer sampler but it was so good. The lone person manning the bar was lovely.

Excellent Green King pub. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Korean chicken burger and Cheese burger really tasty. Fish cakes a really nice light meal. Dog friendly with a bowl of water and treat. Was having a food hygiene inspection whilst we were there, came out with 5 stars!

Ate here while in Bath went as oldest pub in Bath. Lovely pub but food wasn't great, ladies toilets were very poor and not clean. No cutlery or napkins provided with our food good job it was a burger!

Popped in for a quick pint on a visit to Bath and enjoyed the Peroni, yes it was a bit expensive at £6.85 but that's what you pay in a city!!

Lovely little pub, great books to get yourself in. When there is an event on and if you after the crowded pub then go for it. Just be patient with the bar as the service can be a littpe slower than you want

Descent spacious bar. Bar in the middle of the room so you can walk all the way around it. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Camra discount available if you show your card. Cash or card accepted. Wooden floors throughout, descently decorated. Enjoyed my visit.

Nice old pub, claims oldest in Bath, really good selection of beers. The building is well worth a look the ceiling in the main room is memorable.

Great for a few drinks and to enjoy an evening with friends. Live sport was on so we could watch the football and even they had a pool table where we could play pool. Had a lovely evening!

Worst steak ever, lovely atmosphere

Popped in looking for a nice pub lunch, and that was what we found! I’d been by many times but never stopped in - took my parents visiting as tourists for me to finally decide it was time! Staff were kind, prices were fair for the pub grub, and the atomsphere was quite cozy. Bonus points for having a decent selection of low/zero alcohol options - was really nice to be able to get a Guinness 0 :)

If your Dutch and you want to visit a pub, you should go to the oldest pub in Bath. We had good service and great hospitality. Would go here another time if I visit bath.

Friday at 7pm. One bar staff. Gave up trying to be served. Pointless. Went to the Pig & Whistle up the road instead. Served straight away
