Truly awful and overpriced coffee despite excellent location on the harbour . £10+ for 2 cappuccinos and an OK flapjack is pretty steep and may have been easier to swallow had the coffee been any good. Avoid.

Excellent food and perfect service by Cathy. We were blown away by how delicious the food was right next to the harbour for a decent price. Cathy went above and beyond to make sure we had whatever we wanted and checked on us to make sure we were happy with food. The only tiny criticism I could give is that the outdoor seating is very crammed-in, we had to move the table to squeeze in. Everything else was absolutely spot on.

Needed lunch and this didn't disappoint. Wanted crab sandwiches when we sat down but discovered jacket potato with white crab only. What a feast came, it was wonderful, just too much to finish. The thirst quencher juice was lovely and did just that what a great blend of juices. The waitress said it was their first day after reopening, service was a little slow but well worth waiting for and the price was great. What a lovely holiday find, just wished we lived closer.

Like the other places we have so far visited in North Cornwall, we were not spoilt for choice when it came to finding somewhere to eat. Chose the clipper mainly because of the good selection on the menu. Sat on the front patio area which is very cramped, my chair legs where within an inch of the edge. Friendly waitress took our order of chilli, curry and an all day breakfast. Arrived a short time later. Food was ok, my breakfast was plentiful but strange tasting and I'm not fussy by any means, the sausages I could not eat as they had a very strange taste. The chilli was clearly straight out of a tin, curry was nice enough but the accompanying rice was in large clumps rather than fluffy. We all ate our meals but wouldn't go back or recommend.

My wife and I visited The Clipper and ordered a pot of tea for two and two 'toasted teacakes with butter'. We were surprised that the teacakes arrived already 'buttered'. as soon as we tasted them we realised why...margarine not butter. I approached the waitress and said that the butter tasted 'off'. She replied quite openly and said that it was not butter but a margarine/spread and that's how the teacakes came. I replied saying that the menu clearly said 'butter'. The waitress said that it didn't matter and that no one had ever complained before. The look on her face showed that she was simply lying. I waited for an apology or acknowledgement that the restaurant was wrong to do this without success. Perhaps I should have refused to say but was still charged the exorbitant full about of over £11. The Clipper can expect a visit soon from 'Trading Standards'. What a dreadful place. And to make matters worse I'm embarrassed BECAUSE I AM CORNISH and LOCAL.

Due to Covid the restaurant had limited space. Having read previous critism from way back I had to disagree. The service and food was excellent as it was about 40 years ago when we visited for 10 years or so in succession with our young sons. There was a large family group while we were there yesterday and they all seemed happy. I suppose you can't please everyone all the time but we were very pleased.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat for lunch. The sandwiches were tasty with decent portions and the service was really quick. Also fairly reasonably priced. The cafe however is very cramped and I didn’t feel comfortable eating inside so close to other customers with the current covid situation. We chose to eat outside instead. I can’t imagine the closeness of the tables would be signed off under the Covid 19 regulations around social distancing. We probably wouldn’t have chosen to eat here if other places had had availability but we had a pleasant enough snack.

On a visit to Padstow, this coffee shop on first impressions just appealed to me in every way . We waited outside for a table to come available. There are 4 tables outside on terrace but for me it was just a tad too chilly . There are 3 ladies serving, 2 of them was smart and friendly and an absolute asset to such a beautiful coffee shop , it very much saddens me to say that the third lady was the weakest link . No smiles , spoke to customers rather abruptly and lowered the jolly vibe in the restaurant. The food was amazing and came out pretty quickly . I loved my experience in Clipper and I will give it 5* stars . Well done to the two wonderfully friendly, professional ladies . Don’t let one bad apple ruin your cider

Arrived in Padstow hungry and chose this place as the weather changed for the worse. Should have wondered why the place was totally empty. The member of staff who greeted us was pleasant enough. Ordered tea, and crab sandwiches for three and wine and soup for the other person in our group. Very happy to pay £9.95 for a FRESH crab sandwich with salad and crisps. But a couple of bites in, it tasted strange. There was an over powering smell of ammonia, it made my tummy turn. I brought it to a member of staffs attention in private. No apology, or explanation. You would think they might have offered an alternative even. When the bill came, they had taken off £5 off the £55.65 total, I asked if they could remove the full cost of the sandwich I complained about, to which the young girl did. It saddens me when you feel it necessary to leave poor feedback on trip adviser but it’s something that owners, manager, & staff need to address and change to improve their ratings.

There is absolutely no excuse for a restaurant on the harbour in a fishing village like Padstow to use fish that was obviously from a pre-packed mix in its fish pie! The fact we weren't once asked by waiting staff if our food was okay, or if we enjoyed our meal, also tells a tale. Avoid this place, there is a reason it is the only establishment with free tables at lunchtime!

It was only after sitting down that I checked Trip Advisor for reviews on The Clipper and it’s fair to say that, as a result, my expectations were not high; I was however pleased to be proved wrong. Our order was taken by a very polite and pleasant lad and the food and drinks arrived promptly and were well cooked and presented. I had the all day breakfast and asked for certain items to be omitted (as I am fussy!) and was pleasantly surprised to see additional food items, I had included, as a substitute. Given that Padstow was absolutely heaving and we were well within the lunch time envelope, this restaurant was decidedly empty and I fear that it’s reputation is sadly letting it down. You do have to dial back to 2018 for ‘excellent’ reviews so there is clearly something amiss, but for me personally, I have to say my experience warranted a ‘very good’ rating.

Visited today with my family including a newborn in her pushchair. Walking in we were told that we had to leave my sleeping granddaughter in her pram the other side of the cafe beside the counter away from all of the EMPTY tables and chairs (this should of been a warning) we were told if we wanted to have my sleeping granddaughter next to us we would have to go down into the restaurant, so we did. Of course it was empty!! My daughter who is breastfeeding asked for something dairy free but we were told “we have nothing” myself and my family ordered cake. My son in law asked for chocolate gateau and got the smallest piece of chocolate fudge cake and then found we had to pay an extra extortionate amount for ice cream (2half scoops) I had roulade, the smallest piece you could possibly imagine, it was shocking. No price next to this, it is very very expensive for the tiniest portions, definitely NOT value for money by any stretch of the imagination. We ate quickly before my granddaughter woke. I went to pay and quarried my bill and pointed out how small the dessert was another extremely rude member of staff said you ate it you must pay for it. It certainly wasn’t difficult to eat the the tiny tiny dessert given.

I had what was described as a locally made pasty and chips, I'm sure at one time it would have probably been a very nice pasty had they not microwaved the life out of it, the pastry had been rendered greasy and very soft with no texture. very little meat it. There are many places to eat in Padstow so try one of them, give The Clipper a miss.

Stopped here as seemed to be the only place on the harbour with seating over looking it, should of been the tell tale sign!

I cannot recommend. Food expensive and the meals were bland and the fish a bit overcooked. They must do better for their prices.

I came here with my family hoping to have a pleasant lunch for my kids to have whilst on our holidays and we were treated so terribly that I can't comprehend. A female member of staff had the worst attitude towards us:( to which my children got upset about. We immediately left the premises. The next day we had our dinner in lovely Padstow and didn't end up going home till about 9-10, when walking back to our car we noticed the staff smoking inside on the tables, which explains the god awful smell. Do NOT bring your families, kids. dogs etc here!!!!

Was really not impressed by our stop at The Clipper Restaurant in Padstow, the location itself is beautiful and can not be faulted, however the food and the attitude of the staff... well I can tell you now that really was not a pretty sight. I had the fish pie and boy oh boy did I regret that, the fish smelt like it had been pulled fresh from the sea and then left in someones gym bag for about 5 years, taken out and chucked into a pie. The taste was bland and honestly, I have had better tasting baby food. Moving on... The staff, well where do I begin? The woman serving the ice creams and milkshakes seriously needs a talking to by the manager, a face like someones had a poo in her cereal and attitude as if she's just rolled out of bed and the customers and an inconvenience to her life, other than that, once we received our ice cream after about 20 minutes of waiting, was probably the best thing to happen since we got there! so yes, this was my experience.. All I have to say is to the staff, stop swearing, glaring, arguing and being rude to your customers and please improve on the food. I will not even tell you about the after math of my fish pie...thats a whole new story...

We have visited Padstow many times before and have eaten here in the past with little complaint. Food was okay, nothing to write home about and we had a dog so had to sit in the porch area but this is our choice by having a pet with us. What I found really hard was that one of the waitresses had a lot of rules about how people sat & was very strict which dampened the mood somewhat. What was very embarrassing was that as customers left she openly criticised customers once their back was turned, very poor attitude, yes have an opiinion but behind closed doors please, very off putting and you could see paying customers could hear this on other tables...cut it out!

We went in to The Clipper by chance trying to get cover from torrential rain. We had a very unfriendly welcome by a staff member, when she saw our pushchair she simply said "you need to sit downstairs with the pushchair" to which I explained we also have a dog and she reluctantly said we had to sit in the top section as downstairs isn't dog friendly.

Absolutely appalling. Ordered two standard cooked dinner, not small dinner's. We were served 3 tiny potatoes. To pay £9.95 for a dinner that small is a rip off. Barley any gravy. The women who served us was mid 50s. Didn't look, ask what veg nothing. Just served the smallest plate of dinner. I was actually embarrassed, it was the size of a starter on a sit down meal. She doesn't own the cafe so why serve the portion so small. Do not order the cooked dinner. Shouldn't be allowed to serve a dinner that size. Two women behind ordered the small dinner and had the same amount as us. Never will return. Should refund.

Me and my husband stayed here last night and what a wonderful hotel, beautiful room brilliant staff and gorgeous food couldn’t fault them. The cost of the room was real good value for money and the food was also very good value for money. Will definitely be staying again thank you for a lovely stay.

Very much overpriced and my fish and chips were undercooked and soggy very gross will not return don’t recommend to anyone I expected It to cost maybe £8-£9 but no £12.50 I think maybe more than that and the wait was ages went in to collect it and the staff were rude and unhelpful and I was given no cutlery and had to pay for sauces Then I opened the box up outside and it was all soggy and a strange colour very off putting almost looked raw Just ended up eating some of the chips

I have been to The Oxford many times and it never disappoints. The landlady is very nice and friendly and so are the regulars. Every time I've gone in here I've had a laugh. Everyone seems to talk to each other, even if they don't really know you, which I like. It is decorated nice and toilets are always clean. They have a fire inside which is very cosy in winter. Overall, lovely, warm and friendly pub.
