Messums Restaurant in Wiltshire

The options for lunch was I dismal winter soup or a sausage roll. £30 we had the worst sausage roll I have ever tasted. What a waste.

Quirky dishes & prices!! My trout slices were minimal & chewy & expensive. Service was slow though we were given some iced water while waiting.

This was exactly what we were looking for. The service was impeccable and a special thank you to Daisy for accommodating to our needs without fuss. Not to mention the food delicious. We will be going back again. Thank you.

We visited primarily to have lunch which has prompted this review, the art was a find experience but secondary. The venue is an extension of a second gallery within an old agricultural complex. The staff were pleasant if a little anxious and were seated quickly. There is a conservative ‘nice’ atmosphere with small artworks for sale dotted throughout the room. The menu seemed overpriced though pleasant enough so I was expecting an above average food experience. It was the reverse, the food was mediocre in quality and in tiny pretentious portions, served in awkward little containers without proper cutlery to access it. I have cooked in restaurants myself and it annoys me when the food experience comes as an afterthought. It was as though an attempt at ‘food as art’ and failed completely. A shame really.
