We visited the Hub for a 60th birthday party and found it extremely well laid out with good facilities and very helpful staff. The party and disco was held in a large room to the right of the main entrance.Drinks were purchased at the bar further into the building just a few yards from the party venue which was very convenient while prices were comparable or better than pub prices which was a nice surprise. Not only was the party venue uncramped and well equipped with tables and chairs but there was a further large seating near the bar for those wanting to take a breather from proceedings. The toilets were very well kept and very clean and overall presentation of the Hub contributed towards making the evening a big success. A very good venue.

Once again we had the most amazing afternoon tea. The cakes were sumptuous and the scones the best we’ve ever had. Liz is an amazing host. We will definitely be back. Thank you Liz.

New menu for Spring and did you know there was one for 5pm to 6.45pm? Similar to the lunch one. Devilled Kidneys and parfait are back on Starters, while chicken and mushroom pie is on Mains, which was delicious, with a nice crust around the top, with peas and baked potatoes or chips. Belly of Pork and Sea Bass was also enjoyed by us, with waitresses passing by with that huge piece of fish you can also have. Dorset apple cake is on puds, with orange posset, which are lovely.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I have booked a table several times for family events and every time have been cancelled within hours of attending due to "flooding". The most recent time my table was booked for 7.30pm and at 6pm was contacted to cancel my booking. The reason given was that the kitchen was flooded and unusable. We dined elsewhere and drove past the Pig on the one-way system to return home. This was around 9.30pm. The restaurant was full with people enjoying their dinner. I sat outside in the car and phoned the restaurant to enquire why the restaurant was open with a flooded kitchen. The person who answered the phone alleged that the people in the restaurant were finishing their desert and that they had not been open to receive customers. I do not believe that diners served before 6pm (when I was told the kitchen was closed) sat in the restaurant for approx 4 hours eating their main course and were still eating after 9.30pm. No apology was forthcoming or an attempt to re-book me. I believe they over booked or one of their regulars needed a table and they bumped my reservation. Note this has happened to me several times. I would not recommend this restaurant as it is obviously being run by a bunch of amateurs.

My large -family and I enjoyed an excellent dinner last evening. The food was outstanding—compliments to the chef! We loved the decor too. I thought the food was beautifully presented (in addition to being delicious!) and the staff was attentive and helpful. Can’t compliment them enough. Even the water glasses were beautiful! Very highly recommended.

Good service to start and friendly BUT after my third coffee (paying 4.00 for the first and 3.00 for the second) I asked for 3 cups of coffee. This was too much for the chap behind the bar saying 'No, as they did not have any clean cups.' I offered my cup to have a refill but he still said no and tried to move away. I even asked for hot water but he still refused. As it the event was a wake, I did not make a fuss as it was obvious that my order was too much for him. And after a while, I left as I was thirsty. I was not going to write a review until I heard that one of my friends asked for a coke, he replied that at least it wasn't a cup of tea. So I assume he was lying about the cups. I used to rate this pub highly but no more. If you do not want a cold drink, don't go there as the chip behind the bar does not know how to make it. To finish - it takes as much time to pour a coffee and make a cuppa as it takes to pour a pint of beer.

We visited The Rising Sun on Saturday for lunch and found the place to be quite traditional, with lots of tables, lighting was good and most of all the service the lady behind the bar provided was EXCELLENT! We ordered some drinks and sat down to have a look at the menu. Ordering was at the bar, but very easy. We shared the Calamari starter and then ordered the Mediterranean tart which came with salad and chunky chips and the Cajun Chicken Burger. All the food was very good and delivered in a timely manner. The Outland IPA was a good tasting beer. The pub is very dog friendly, so we sat out dog under the table, where he managed to spill his bowl of water and this was no hassle for the waitress to clear up for us. Excellent pub/restaurant and if we are in the area I would go back and can highly recommend to others

Myself and my wife are local and dropped in yesterday for breakfast. Very nice breakfast, my wife couldn’t finish her granola so I did, which was excellent. Will go again.

Breakfast hits the spot. Went for a Late Breakfast and what a surprise. Probably the best breakfast I have had in years. Bacon was good quality and no fat. Sausages were lovely with a crisp outer. Egg to pefection. Clean and efficient. Defintely look to come again when in the area. Great find.
