Y no me decepcionó.

You're going on a journey.. a journey to Ferndown Village Hall! Yes I know it sounds bonkers, but honestly this is one of the best, surprising and fun Fine Dining experiences.Locally sourced produce is superbly executed by Mike into a sumptuous 5 course repas. A menu that will give you a thrill and leave you contentedThis is all served alongside your other foodies diners, whom have also found out about this 'almost' secrete club, giving it fantastic atmosphere, a real buzz of corroborative food pleasure, joy and hospitality. This is certainly my type of 'monthly meeting' and £35 for fine food is fab value for money. We shall return and hope that we manage to book a place, now the secrete is out!

Venison scotch egg, lovely, cod lovely, potatoes lovely, homemade bread lovely, tempura battered veg lovely and a Chocolate Tart to die for. What more can you say. Over and over again Mike gets this right. Menu for next month is even more gorgeous if there can be an even more gorgeous.

I know, I know I keep reviewing Mikes Supper Club with top marks every time but then again, it deserves it. Visited with friends at the end of April and food was amazing as ever. Beautiful squash and wild mushroom tart with wonderfully crisp pastry. I was never a big fan of Hake in the past but Mike manages to lift it to a new level and I'm now a fan. And well..............................the banana and Hazelnut parfait left everybody at the table totally speechless, it was just so beautifully creamy and bananary (not sure that is a word) finished with caramelised banana and caramel sauce. Perfectly full of wonderful food and a lovely evening went home happy as usual. Thank you Mike and team.

Oh, how it was good to back after I missed last months supper club. Now, I know definitely myself and at least one other person had a dislike of aubergines, probably down to experiencing soggy oil soaked ones in the past, BUT as I always want to have whatever Mike puts on the table, I gave it a go. It was beautiful. Light crispy tempura batter fried aubergine sticks with a lovely homemade paprika mayonnaise. The OTHER person had a few so that says it all. Lovely moist confit chicken, leek and whole grain mustard terrine. Yum! Fish lovely and moist and flakey and gorgeous fried potatoes. By this time I was feeling a bit full but had made sure I made way for the dessert of blood orange posset with marinated blood oranges. Perfectly sweet and refreshing as it should be. Everything down to the fruit and nut truffles and even a Valentine's goody bag to take home. Wel, at least if I have nobody's heart at least I did get to take a chocolate one home :-)

Was feeling a tad jaded and rang Mike on the off chance that there was a spare seat at his Supper club .. He was able to squeeze me in and yet again I can only heap praise on the quality of everything that was on offer. The trick that I have learnt is not to eat too much of the homemade bread served with on this occasion aubergine fritters and smoked paprika mayonnaise Save room for a delightful confit chicken and leek terrain and a huge flakey herb encrusted cod loin fillet with shallot puree.. Desert was an orange posset which beautifully balanced the richness of the cod !! Homemade truffles and coffee followed ... At £35 all in this is the very best deal around... Fight to get a place !!!

This was our sixth visit to Mike's Supper Club and the standard has been consistently high. As always, we were warmly greeted on arrival with a complimentary cocktail. Mike is a fantastic chef. The menu is well balanced with attention to every detail. Flavours and textures work beautifully and every mouthful was delicious. Mike takes time to chat with everyone individually so you feel like a friend rather than just another customer. The pricing is more than fair for the quality of food and the bring your own drink policy makes it an affordable night out. Come March 2016 I will have been attending Mike's supper club every month for a year and intend entirely to do just that. His food and the whole ambience of his restaurant is second to none and this month held on 5th December was no exception. Every dish perfectly cooked. The Christmas pudding cheese cake was so rich and indulgent that we all struggled to finish it but it is one of those dishes you cannot leave alone. All topped off with coffee and home made buttery mince pies. Even a little goody bag on leaving with home made shortbread. Beautiful little touch. I did not get around to reviewing last months which I attended on my own but was in no way alone, such is this place that the enthusiasm of the chef and all of his team spreads amongst everybody. Hats off yet again to you all. Have a lovely Christmas and new year and will see you again on the 23rd January. Jackie

I have been going to Mikes supper club since March I think and have enjoyed every visit which says a lot about the consistency and the amazing food. I have not had much of an appetite of late but I have my appetite back and managed every course including the hand made bread. Cauliflower fritters and curry mayonnaise were beautiful. Something I never would have thought to do myself. Starters of Lamb Kofte amazing and with yoghurt and pomegranate. Flavours really came through. Mullet well cooked, lovely and crushed potatoes and green beans. I couldn't quite manage the chocolate brownie in a 'puddle' of chocolate and ice cream. I don't think I can visit this month and am gutted as I am already drooling over the menu. Thank you Mikey.

This was our second visit to Mikes supper club and the whole experience was absolutely fab again. We were greeted with a cocktail and nibbles and then sat down for the homemade bread, battered cauliflower and curry mayonnaise. Oh my! The mayonnaise was so good even just on the bread! The starter was lamb kofta which had a kick but was light and not heavy at all. The main was mullet which was cooked to perfection and the lemon of the dressing really came through. Extra bowls of crushed potatoes and French beans were placed on the table but you get so much food I don't think anyone touched them. We had to really pace ourselves to finish with the brownie dessert and homemade ice cream but we managed it!What we really enjoyed this time was chatting to the other diners. Everyone is so friendly and we had such a laugh. Once again the whole experience takes the anxiety out dining - you've already paid so there aren't any nasty surprises, you bring your own drink and you are guaranteed very good food. All the little details have been thought of including the bottled water and you only realise you're in a village hall when you leave. Can't wait to go again.

We had our first visit to Mike's Supper Club on 27th June. The food had been highly recommended and we liked the menu but I was a bit concerned about the venue and atmosphere. I visited Mikes Supper club again on 30th May 2015. This man is an amazing chef. On the table was pork and onion fritters that looked like little lollipops on sticks, home made bread, Tarragon mayonnaise. Beautiful! I was trying to pace myself for what was to come but difficult to resist. Starter of wild mushroom, asparagus and bacon tart to die for. Main of stuffed cod with spinach, fried Cornish potatoes and a beautiful brown shrimp cream sauce and then the 'piece de resistence' a perfect choux bun stuffed with Chantilly cream, strawberries and crushed hazelnuts in a POOL of chocolate sauce, what more can you say. Portions ample, Michelen Starred quality, definitely. Atmosphere in this village hall fantastic. Lovely to meet new people. Waiting staff extremely friendly. Everything about this is amazing. From the moment we arrived the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. There's wasn't any doubt we were in a village hall but the venue only added to the whole experience. The food was in excess not that anyone was complaining nobody could get enough of the homemade breads and pork and onion fritters The mushroom and asparagus tart was a delight on the tastebuds, and I've never seen such a succulent piece of cod with crispy fried Cornish new potatoes! I was pretty full by the time it was dessert but I finished every swallow of the choux buns with strawberrys and choc sauce. I also couldn't resist a homemade biscuit (or 2). Took part in mike's supper club on 25th April as part of a group of 8 and every single one of us had a fantastic evening, waited on hand and foot by Mike and his team.Didn't really know what to expect but we were met on arrival with a courtesy drink of cocktail or local beer that even I hadn't heard of before (good work). They also whipped up a non-alcoholic version for our designated drivers which was much appreciated. As well as the wonderful three courses we had paid for, we were treated to a variety of home made breads, dips and nibbles which I though was a great touch and really kept the evening flowing. The bring your own wine idea works perfectly for this event with everyone sharing and trying different things. The atmosphere was brilliant, far more relaxing than any restaurant I've been to and a great level of service with Mike coming out and making the effort to chat with every group during the evening. All in all this is one of the best meals out I've ever had and all of the other members of my party were in agreement. Once again Mike delivered, Saturday night was our 6th visit to Mikes Supper Club, a monthly treat for us! We go as a couple and every time we meet new foodies who enjoy talking about and eating Mikeys food, to be fair it's a supper club with a pre set menu that's advertised before you book, not every course will be your favourite but you will come away having tasted a gem or two! This is not a total restaurant experience its a supper club mixing it up with other diners on large tables, great fun, great service, and I like the music. A honest review. And to answer the last reviewer I'm sure the village hall covers it's PRS licence for music.

Goodness knows how others have rated this. The food was to say the least mediocre. The best bit was the bread from there on it went downhill. To add to the dreadful culinary experience e was the shocking piped music, not only the choice of music but the terrible acoustics, do they pay for a music licence? All in all for £35 a head one must assume that a lack of licence for the supply of expensive booze is reflected in the silly price for three courses of not very exiting food. In particular the pork was swimming in gravy, not served separately, there was no be discernible vegetable, the roti resembled stuffing.finally the promised welcoming drink never arrived for one of my party.Fine dining In Ferndown? I don't think so nor do the other three members of my party.Written at 23.42 having left the Hall at 10.45 on Saturday 25th April and still sober!

We're so glad a friend recommended Mike's Supper Club. To be honest we really weren't sure what to expect - a draughty and cold village hall, uncomfortable seats and a meal that may feel like a function. What we got was the complete opposite. It was a miserable night outside but as soon as we walked through the doors we were greeted with complimentary drinks, nibbles and warmth, not only in the welcome. The hall was extremely cozy and a brilliant ambience was created using low lighting and music. After Mike introduced himself, we had homemade bread, tomato salsa and corn fritters. We then had a starter of monkfish with a cauliflower purée and the main was shoulder of lamb served with cabbage, bacon and carrots with a celeriac dauphinois and to finish, polenta cake.Mike sources local produce and this meal was one of the best meals we have ever eaten out and we eat out a lot! Everything was outstanding. The great thing about a dining concept like this is that it takes all the stress out of the night. You know exactly how much it's going to cost, you know your fellow diner isn't going to have chosen a better meal and you put your trust in a very competent chef to deliver food that you may not have necessarily chosen off a menu. We will definitely be returning to Mikes Supper Club and I urge anyone else to do the same. This really is a gem of a dining experience with so much thought going into the whole thing - from the table layout and presentation, to the complimentary water and the comfy seats. Not forgetting the attentive serving team. Good Work!

We have recently shared the experience of Mikes supper club. The atmosphere was fantastic, relaxed and really friendly. Mike introduced himself as we sat down and explained where all the local ingredients came from. We were then treated to 5star food with really friendly serving staff and met and chatted to other like minded diners. Providing your own wine/drink with dinner was to me genius, and there was water available on the table. At the end of the meal Mike came out of the kitchen and chatted with everyone. Nice background music added to a lovely atmosphere. Food 5 star, service 5 star, atmosphere 5 star, and we didn't have to be posh or regimented. We visited the Hub for a 60th birthday party and found it extremely well laid out with good facilities and very helpful staff. The party and disco was held in a large room to the right of the main entrance.Drinks were purchased at the bar further into the building just a few yards from the party venue which was very convenient while prices were comparable or better than pub prices which was a nice surprise. Not only was the party venue uncramped and well equipped with tables and chairs but there was a further large seating near the bar for those wanting to take a breather from proceedings. The toilets were very well kept and very clean and overall presentation of the Hub contributed towards making the evening a big success. A very good venue.

We have visited the stocks many times over the past 30 years but this was the worst meal we can remember. The gammon was thin, scrappy and too salty, the chips over cooked. We were asked if we wanted both egg and pineapple and then charged £1 extra for the pineapple, which we weren't told about when placing the order. At £18.95 it was not value for money. We ordered lemon & ginger cheesecake, which was more like mousse on a biscuit base, not the consistency of cheesecake. This desert was £7.95 so you would expect better. We told the waitress, who did offer an alternative, but this was declined. She said “I’ll let them know.” . An adjustment to the bill would have been more appropriate. There is a lot of competition in this sector and regrettably the Stocks prices have edged up too much and now sit at the more expensive end of pub food options. In summary a disappointing and overpriced lunch.
