Plenty of chips the fish was a good portion to friendly staff we phoned our order through and it was ready for collection when we got there fantastic little chip shop defo eat there again

In my opinion, Herbies used to be one of the best chippies in the area but do feel that it has become very average in the past couple of years. On a positive note, the portion sizes are fantastic and the prices are reasonable. The battered cod is lovely too! However, the taste and quality of the chips can be hit or miss. Not sure if this is down to the oil sometimes used or whether it depends on who is supplying the spuds on that particular day? Also, the taste of the pea-fritters has changed and not for the better; it’s almost as though cheaper ingredients are being used? Having said this, I will still go there if passing and feeling hungry!

Something has definitely changed for the batter. My last experience here has made me want to go back for sure, it was amazing. Had been here a couple of times over some years back and it had been ok, but looking at the reviews it's not just me who give it five stars (excluding the guy who gave them one star because they wouldn't take credit card when there's a cash point next door).

We usually get fish and chips twice a week from herbies in parley but unfortunately on too many occasions the quality of the food especially the chips has been very poor and tasted of what I can only explain as old or burnt oil which leaves a horrible after taste we will now take our business to another local company

Piping hot, freshly cooked fish and chips. Just right proper British fare not greasy and soggy pukka curry sauce would highly recommend spot on!!!!

Fish and chips on a friday night in July was top notch! Been twice since on a Sunday and the chips have been terrible! Greasy over cooked. Awful!

I so hate writing bad reviews! We’ve had Fish & Chips from Herbies numerous times and always been very happy, sadly on this occasion not so happy. We got home to find very over cooked chips, too far to go back and having been away too hungry to go back. Bad enough to have overcooked chips, however thought I’d call, really just to let them know. The server who answered the phone was actually the one who served us. The response “I thought they looked a little crispy!” My thoughts, well why on earth did you serve them! I didn’t call to “get anything” however saying that, it would have been good to at least get an apology and maybe an offer! Sadly it looked like new young staff, perhaps training or supervising required!

Best fish and chips in the area by far! Fish is huge and very well priced. Bye bye to harlees, hello herbies!

Invariably provide good quality fish and chips with smiling service. A most recent visit (15/12/23) was upsetting when the advertised "OAP Special" was unavailable at 6:30pm to the constination of an genuine OAP like me.

Herbies are always good, always open when they say they'll be and helpful and quick. Had a problem with food on one occasion and they were happy and helpful in sorting it out. Still amazing tonight, friendly and lovely.

Have been going here for about 3 years now, every time it’s been the best fish for 10’s of miles, last night it was inedible. Don’t know what has gone on. Is it under new ownership or is it changed suppliers or something else? What ever it is sort it quickly as you will lose business

We haven’t been here for many months, we won’t be coming back again any time soon. This always used to be one of the best fish and chip shops in the area. Well not anymore!! The chips were bloody awful. Black and grotty looking. They didn’t look appetising and certainly didn’t taste appetising. Fish was okay, but was cooked in a different oil and didn’t taste the same as before. It made it worse as we shared it with family who we here from London. We were embarrassed to serve them.

Fish was well cooked, chips were under cooked and pea fritters were very dry.

Excellent fish and chips tonight. Chips well cooked, not anaemic, and not greasy. The cod was delicious. Freshly cooked, lovely white flakes and a good chunk of fish rather than being all batter. Definitely one to revisit next time we're in the area.

After a long absence of not trying the fish and chips, which I remember as being the best ever . Today the fish was real perfection but sadly chips , completely tasteless and very dry .These days fish and chips are not cheap , so sadly expensive waste

Chips not peeled /sorted properly. Full of black marks and bruises. Fish was excellent as usual. Something went wrong this time. Went straight in bin so no photos.

I think I have tried all the fish and chip shops in and around Ferndown and in my opinion this was the best. Large Cod and large chips was too large, would feed 2. Batter was good and crisp. Scampi was good. Chips were excellent and well cooked with a nice brown colour not anemic like some. Price was Ok but all the fish and chip prices have gone up. If you haven't tried them they are worth a go. I will probably not go anywhere else.

Really good. Probably the best I've had. You can get deals anytime. Chips are amazing!! I've been there about 5 times and the chips are always perfect.

Best fish and chips I have had and only docking one star due to pre-orders on a few occasions being late still, plus one bad experience when service just plain failed! To be fair they do seem to have improved lately though and they are popular for good reason. I'm a regular customer who travels a little bit further, even with other closer fish and chip shops locally in Ferndown. I have tried them all and Herbie's is still worth the effort, as the cod is always soft and flakey and the batter crisp and light. Chips are perfect and the mushy peas not that bright green processed stuff.

Website says open until 2.15pm. Arrived 1.57pm and told no food as they're closing. Even now, at 2.11pm the website says they're still open. If you want to finish early just update your website. Would have saved me the drive

Can I just say thank you to the team at Herbies for the wonderful gluten free fish and chips tonight. You are practically a life saver! They were so delicious. The batter was so light and the fish was flaky and chunky. Oh and did I mention the mushy peas or as I would like to call it Yorkshire Cavier! Just the right amount of sugar. Can't beat lunchtime sausage and chips from here. Crispy chips cooked just right. Well worth a try, you won't be disappointed.

Tryed this place 3 times ( all three ) it’s bad service by children ,over cooked food (USING OLD OIL ) oinon rings are cheap ones from Iceland ( AND WERE BURNT) I put all the food stright in the bin , in front of staff and told them WHY( there’s response was O WELL .SO PLEASE PLEASE STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE …………discuding in every way

After being exposed to continental chips, fries , friet ect, my love of the majority of british standard chips and chip shops has wained dramaticaly, but Heries chip shop is a cut well above the others and is a joy to return to every now and then. Clean, busy, pleasant staff and good, well cooked food. Supports a good range of food and cold drinks, not greasy barely warm chips.

I visited here last week as my usual fish and chip shop was shut. I had 2 large cod and chips and a curry sauce, all excellent nice flavour, not too much batter, nice piece of cod, chips some of the nicest I've had. Friendly staff too. Well worth a visit.

my savloy was over cooked or possibly even yesterday's, and the chips tasted like cardboard. And when you ask for a small portion chips and get a handful of chips I would say someone is taking the micky. hello

Have been before and normally very good food but this afternoon the chips were bloody awfull, could only eat a handfull of them threw away most of them they were dry and hard ,waste of money. If I go again will check food before I leave.Suspect the chips had been re heated from previous opening time.

The worse fish and chips what me and my mates had! We been working to B7s Festival and found this shop very close and decided to go and eat! We done the worse mistake, firstly they mess around with the price, and the fish and chips 😬 after we weat we been Sick for 2 days, all of us ! Most probably because they was overused the cooking oil! I definitely Don't Recommend this place to eat!!!

I am very local to the Parley shop and use it regularly (or did), tonight's offerings were awful 😖, a simple sausage and chips, the sausages were fine but the chips were unedible and went straight in the bin. A shame as this is not the first time and I have given the benefit of the doubt. No more, Chips Ahoy here I come!!!

Ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips order was messed up numerous times finally got it right got home to eat it and most of its gone in the bin there was more salt than food absouteltly disgusting wouldn't recommend

Delicious! Lovely food always cooked well and they really are best chips around! Only downside is they put the food in paper bags then in a plastic carrier bag could do with switching to paper bags and possibly stop using plastic carriers.

Herbies catered a big family get together for us last night. They were amazing! 46 orders and everything cooked to perfection. Everyone was asking who had done the fish n' chips and saying how lucky we are to have such an outstanding local business. Everything was delicious. Thank you so much Herbies!

Sad to say this place has gone down hill. I was on my way back to Devon with family and although we had passed several chip shops we chose to wait for this one as we had always used it in the past. The young girls serving (Saturday night) had an attitude, I was not asked at time of them wrapping food if I wanted salt....I asked if I could please have some salt which they did, but on returning to the car, I found the chips covered in so much salt (obviously over salted with attitude) they were unedible! If I had more time I would have returned to shop. The fish was nice, white and tasty, but batter was over done and some too hard to eat . So overall, I will NOT be returning to use this fish and chip shop. 😒

Popped in on Friday night as advised by the last manager that it was a decent place to eat. Never have I been so dissatisfied with the standard of the cooked products. The pickled onions + eggs were the best thing about it. When we called up to complain we heard an old guy in the background saying if we don't like it then p*** off to Karsbergs. Looks like that's where we will be going In future then.

It’s a shame as we have had fish and chips here before and it was good but after today won’t be visiting again. The haddock had definitely been cooked before and it was chewy and very dry. Wouldn’t recommend

OK today sometime it lovey it hit or miss

We ordered 5 meals, 3 of which added curry sauce to the menu, only 1 curry sauce in bag when we got home. Then continued to eat the food. 2 meals of which being DOUBLE chicken burgers, to make life easier we even said put all the salads in. 1 of which burgers when home and ready to eat only had 1 chicken piece inside. So through a 5 meal ticket, you messed up 3. Terrible.

Just bought two OAP fish and chips from herbies and it was the worst we have had stone cold chips looked as though they had been hanging around all day.

I must have visited a different chippy! We were staying locally and after reading reviews decided to get food from here. Oh dear......chips seemed to have been fried at least twice and were greasy, the fish, which was a nice size and white, was unfortunately very dry, and the mushy peas were so thick and dry you could have sliced them. This was tea time service on Friday so I expected fresh and great fish & chips. Sorry guys, won't be back.

Only the 2nd time of visiting this chippy as new to the area. A new manager has come in since our last visit and has got it spot on. Batter was fantastic, chips were good too. Friendly service from the tall kid who was doing the chips and also helping on the counter. Saturdays are definitely the day to go there when they are working.

Fish and chips for 9 delivered without any fuss. Fish was really fresh and white and batter light. Chips could not be beat! Excellent all round. Highly recommended.

Excellent fish and chips. Especially the senior mini cod, chips and mushy peas for £4.20. A must visit if you are anywhere near the are. We always pop by when going Sandbanks or Bournemouth

Visited to get a dinner for staff at work, ordered £30+ worth of food only to find when we got back to work that some of it was missing and the position sizes might of got mixed up with someone else’s order was even more disappointed that their phone line was engaged when I tried to call to get it rectified

Used several times and normally very nice food served here. However the last visit was disappointing, only sausages available and fryer refused to cook anything fresh as they were about to close, so it was sausages or nothing. Chips were very dry. Looking forward to next visit when hopefully all food will be fresh and available.
