Unfortunately this cafe doesn't open until 9am on Saturday and I'm usually in town at 8am. Today I was in town much later so gave me a chance to vist the Riverside for the first time in over two years. Usual friendy welcome and nearly full by 9.15am. A good no nonsense breakfast followed at a very affordable price compared with many other local cafes, The specials board showed some great snacks for later in the day too. 'twas a welcome return, just a shame they didn't open earlier.

I popped here on a bike ride to try the Full English breakfast. It was quite busy inside & out this particular Tuesday morning. I had an orange juice while I waited for the breakfast to arrive. It looked very good although there were a couple of minor things I noticed on closer inspection. One of the slices of toast was barely toasted and only one of the eggs had a slightly runny yolk, the other was pretty solid. Everything else was great, especially the mushrooms. If only they done chopped tomatoes, that would make it exceptional for me. I'd still visit again though. Don't forget it's CASH ONLY, although the lovely waitress was ok for me to dash to the nearest cashpoint whilst I left my bags there.

It was warm and cosy inside. The Christmas decorations were very festive. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. My husband had a small All Day Breakfast and I had a toasted Brie and Onion chutney sandwich from the specials board. We didn't wait very long and both were hot tasty and well presented. O even bought a slice of cake to take away 😋 Lisa and her staff are doing a great job here, I would definitely recommend it 😊

We came across this place whilst looking for a stop for Breakfast enroute to the West Country. It proved difficult to find - we found a sign, almost hidden behind a bush by the bridge at the entrance to the Co-Op. Maybe someone was trying to hide this gem of a place from visitors! The first good sign was that the place was packed - and in March, even the outside tables overlooking the river were full as well. Worth waiting though. We had two regular full English breakfasts and a large pot of Tea - for an amazing £12.40. And the portions were huge and very nicely cooked. If you are hungry and just fancy some good old English cooking, then I would recommend this place. I cannot talk about other meals, but for Breakfast it is unbeatable!

This is a little cafe by the River Allen in Wimborne. If you're looking for posh food coated in, "jus", please look (go!) elsewhere...! that said I wouldn't class this as a "greasy spoon cafe" it's so much better than that. I had a veggie breakfast and it was delicious and the coffee was great too - real coffee... not weak filter rubbish. Couple the great food and great service with an amazing location by the river and you have a fantastic venue to eat pre-shopping in Wimborne or as a break in the day. They are also dog friendly and provided a water bowl for our pooch. Highly recommended and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

You can't fault the quality of food and prices here. Very reasonable standard English food. If there was one thing that I would change is that it's very overcrowded. The staff, which there are many, have to squeeze past the tables often getting in each others way. I understand losing one table would lose business but it would be good for the customers.

Set alongside the river, this cafe has a wonderful setting, with pretty tables overlooking the river itself, and birds (in our case a Robin) settling feet away from us. The very pleasant staff offer a quick and efficient service, and our coffees and teas arrived promptly, quickly followed by our bacon sandwiches. Now, bacon sandwiches are a special favourite of mine, and I like them prepared in a very specific manner i.e. with burnt bacon. I know, strange. But hey, it's how I like them. The Riverside cafe make a decent fist of it - and supplied plentiful brown sauce to accompany (another important ingredient). But still not burnt enough for me. Never mind, we will happily go back again to give them a second chance.

We have visited the stocks many times over the past 30 years but this was the worst meal we can remember. The gammon was thin, scrappy and too salty, the chips over cooked. We were asked if we wanted both egg and pineapple and then charged £1 extra for the pineapple, which we weren't told about when placing the order. At £18.95 it was not value for money. We ordered lemon & ginger cheesecake, which was more like mousse on a biscuit base, not the consistency of cheesecake. This desert was £7.95 so you would expect better. We told the waitress, who did offer an alternative, but this was declined. She said “I’ll let them know.” . An adjustment to the bill would have been more appropriate. There is a lot of competition in this sector and regrettably the Stocks prices have edged up too much and now sit at the more expensive end of pub food options. In summary a disappointing and overpriced lunch.

We drove our Motorhome there and left it for two nights so we ate dinner the first night then came back for Sunday lunch, both of which were excellent. What a stunning location. Beautiful historic building with real character, thatched roof as you would guess but services was great and the food... well, one of the best pub experiences ever and I've eaten at a few good ones over the years. The pie was home made, gorgeous pastry etc. but the Sunday lunch was absolutely top rate. brilliant roasts, excellent tender meat, Yorkshire and braised red cabbage, tonnes of quality gravy.... all with brilliant service. Even helped out with water for the Motorhome. Will return there whenever we're in the region.
