The rising sun had been my local for over a year and I can’t stop coming back for more because the pub is so welcoming! The staff especially, Liv and Frankie they are absolute stars, such quick and polite service, will go above and beyond! Keep up the good work, this pub has been turned around for the best.

Wow just wow! The annual Wimborne folk festival is a huge event in this lovely town and the rising sun was the only place to be. Great bands playing, the only pub to keep their prices the same as usual and more importantly the fantastic staff made mine and my friends weekend! This pub is a fantastically run establishment but it has something quite special in the team they have working there! It’s clear to see they enjoy doing what they do, working for a great leader and more importantly have fun and are helpful and polite no matter how busy or under pressure they are! Well done to all involved, the best day out we have had in a long time, you have restored our faith in how hospitality should be run! Keep it up! It’s the only place to go in Wimborne these days!

We have been in Wimborne for the annual folk festival. I had my 16yr old son, my father in law, my godson, my mum and lots of friends to stay. We live next door to the Rising Sun. From me personally and all my friends and family, thank you so much. We had a fantastic weekend. The live music was brilliant, the drinks were normal prices, the staff were all excellent, incredible service, polite security. For next year, anyone visiting Wimborne, just go to the Rising Sun. What a fantastic pub this is. Last Saturday was our first visit to The Rising Sun and it certainly will not be our last. We have a fantastic meal, food flocked and served to perfection and was reasonably priced. The two girls behind the bar Frankie and Liv were brilliant, happy, bubbly and polite and they couldn’t do enough for us. 5 of us went for a sunday roast, the roast dinner was great with a good variety of vegetables. For dessert i had sticky toffee pudding with custard, which was the best ive had. Would definetly recommend it.

A bunch of friends chose this pub for Sunday Roast lunch, the choice was Beef or Lamb. It was an excellent lunch, good portions, served hot with a nice selection of veg and all freshly cooked. Would highly recommend, great value.

Although we’ve lived in Wimborne for nearly 40 years we have rarely visited the Rising Sun. However based on a recommendation, 6 of us went for Sunday Roast on a very wet Sunday in February. What a transformation, firstly the pub was welcoming, a lot brighter than past few visits and spotless. We all ordered roasts. Absolutely delicious, huge portions and copious extra jugs of gravy. Service was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for puds, just the one crumble. Our table was at 2pm, I think around 3ish all roasts were sold. A great lunch and will definitely be back. Plus dog friendly.

Popped in for a bite to eat while out shopping in Wimborne. Fairly busy but plenty of tables about. Staff were very friendly and we ordered food at the bar. Quick service and the burgers were so tasty and very well presented. Really good seating areas and it was nice to see it was dog friendly. Nice mix of people having meals in the cosy window seats.Will be returning.Perfect little Inn.

Went for Sunday roast we had smaller roast lamb, you get very good hot roast dinner. Lots of lamb lovely roast potatoes swede cauliflower cheese stuffing and green vegetables. We didn't want red cabbage, we were glad we didn't have bigger roast. Well worth the price you could tell all home cooked. Warm welcome from staff and checked back to make sure food was ok

The Riding Sun has quickly become my favourite pub in Wimborne. It’s cosy, always busy, nice decor, friendly staff, great bands and today we decided to eat for the first time. We ordered the loaded fries to share from the specials board. Just what we needed and delicious with plenty of topping and a good portion!

Oh my gosh. So refreshing to find a real pub. The warm welcome on arrival to the goodbye. Everything was amazing. Service, food and the wonderful atmosphere makes this a must do. The pub itself is set on a small winding river in the heart of the beautiful Dorset town of Wimborne. This is a very traditional pub that takes me back to my childhood with great memories. The atmosphere was wonderful when we arrived with lots of locals enjoying fine fair. So the food just amazing remembering this is a pub but providing high quality well cooked food from around the world. We had wonderful pink roast beef. You can have it other ways. Hunters chicken the best ever and for my wife as she likes a little spice food from Morocco. All this food served with good quality wine and ales. What is also nice in these had times they don’t fleece you. We don’t go out very much as when you do it’s bad service and overpriced food. Well done Rising Sun. Thank you guys for all your hard work. I have only one negative and that we felt cold. We did bring jackets but maybe that is just us. Please put the log burner on. It’s always nice to arrive in a pub with that log smoke smell.

This place is a little gem. Great food sitting by a stream. Very deceptive as it doesn’t look so spacious when you walk in but such a pleasant surprise.

This was the second time we have had lunch here and found it excellent. Delicious food, freshly cooked and piping hot and very reasonable price. We sat inside, but it was sunny so quite a few people were in the lovely outdoor space by the river. It's a gem of a place and Liv is a real star. Thank you for making our visit such a pleasure.

Came for a Sunday roast today... We've literally just finished and needed to write a review on how stunning this roast was. All home made, lush stuffing, plenty of thick gravy, a generous portion and so tasty. Goes in the top 3 pub roasts of all time. Mic drop 10/10

We visited The Rising Sun in Wimborne last week with our little Pug. We were given such a lovely friendly welcome and the pub looked lovely inside and so nice that it was right on the river. The food was amazing and we had such a really lovely time thanks to the friendly very helpful staff. If you are ever near Wimborne it is well worth a visit. We will be back very soon.

Although this pub is, like many others in suffering in the economic climate, the landlord seems to be doing his best to stay positive. The pub has a lively, friendly atmosphere and service was efficient and cordial. We only stayed for a couple of pre dinner drinks but would have been happy to spend the evening there. Pubs like this need support and I would recommend The Rising Sun as a pleasant watering hole.

Had a great Mother’s Day lunch here with really lovely service from a super team. Really nice details like products in the ladies’ room and blankets for the garden. Fabulous location right on the river stour - can’t wait to go back when it’s a bit warmer! Old school boozer with decent food and a big heart - what’s not to like? We will be back!

Just started doing Sunday lunch, wow definitely the best in Wimborne! Used to go to Horns inn, Willet arms & the Olive branch but the Rinsing sun has now taken the crown for best Sunday lunch.

An old pub on the outside, modernised nicely inside with an attractive rear garden overlooking the river. Unfortunately our visit this time was marred by very little ale choice and no non alcoholic ciders or lagers.

This was our first time of visiting and won’t be the last. Great atmosphere with very attentive staff, very well organised outside seating. Nice warm and friendly welcome. Our drinks were on the table within minutes.

We visited the rising sun on the 5th June. Grace was an incredible host! You would never have guessed she was new. Never kept us waiting and always had a big smile on her face.

Beautiful riverside location. Excellent beers, very well kept and served from both the indoor and outdoor bars. Steve has turned this pub around. Now one of the go-to places in town. Great staff, especially the lovely Stevie. Love this place now.

This is a gorgeous pub and the owners have created a fantastic outside space. The staff are attentive and quite unique... if you meet Pete The Juggler! No food at the moment but excellent beer and we will definitely be back to eat.

We visited here yesterday and was such a lovely experience. I told my children with me . They loved the fact they could watch tv outside . Children enjoyed the pool table . Wasn’t to busy was nice to be able to sit outside and socialise with friends . The landlord also brought around sweets for the kids! VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

from the moment we entered this public house we felt completely at home. The owner was very friendly and welcoming as were all of his staff.The food was delicious and plentiful, cooked to perfection and served by Paul 'Crazy Juggler' Matthews, who was between engagements owing to the cruise ships being docked because of the Covid outbreak.Paul was cheerful, funny and very attentive to our needs.We enjoyed this pub/restaurant so much that we returned before the end of our holiday for another treat.Highly recommended.

Have to say that this pub is in my opinion the best pub in Wimborne..The staff are warm and welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. Very well kept draught larger, ale and smooth well poured Guinness!! Booked and seated for 4, for a Sunday roast. Which did NOT disappoint. Tasted like a home cooked roast. 10/10. Also a good red wine selection. Can't fault it, safe social distancing rules are respected by all and a good pub atmosphere is not lost.Keep up the good work guys.I hope you and other quality establishments can ride these hard / difficult times.Thank you. It’s not posh but they know how to serve their customers ( “My lovely”). If the Home Secretary needs a Covid compliant benchmark this Is it. The adherence to Government rules was amazing. More paperwork and signage than You could shake a stick at. Full marks (“ my lovely”). This is what you expect at Heathrow Airport in terms of Covid regulations, not a pub in a small Dorset town, well done (“my lovely”).50% off food before 8 pm resulted in excellent value for money.It was lovely to sit next to the river, have a pint, enjoy some food and watch the ducks.Friendly staff who were very welcoming. Oh, and they have no favourites they call everyone “ my lovely”.... well done to the staff who are pleasant efficient and focused on a good customer experience. It isn’t going to win any posh culinary awards but if you are hungry this place will sort you out.

Visited the Rising Sun this lunchtime 12 noon met by very friendly bar staff the bar and tables were immaculate the tables pristine clean covid cleaning was continuous very impressed the food was on time hot and delicious we are a mature couple and were treated with respect and were asked regularly if we were ok and did we need anything fantastic pub fantastic food and fantastic staff i would recommend visiting this pub as an example of how things should be done in this awful covid time well done all

We booked in for a family birthday. The staff couldn't been more accommodating. The food was bang on, the staff were out of this world and the setting is amazing, lovely garden and surroundings. Thoroughly recommend this venue for families. Can not fault it. Well done The Rising Sun.

We went to the rising sun today with our family and friends. The landlord and his family were so accommodating. The kids were given sweets, ice pops and bread to feed the ducks. Would totally reccomend. A lovely place. And although we didnt eat the food looked amazing to!

Wow... by far the best pub in town. Bar staff are fantastic, great service from Chloe and joe and good atmosphere. If you are looking for a good beer garden with outside pool table, this is the place to go. Definitely returning soon.

I visited the Rising Sun Inn today and felt compelled to write this review as my experience was so wonderful ! Everything about this pub is first class. Situated on the river it is perfect for outdoor dining in a very welcoming setting. The food was absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced. The service was spot on. I visited the pub yesterday for the first time since re opening, and it is obvious how much effort has been put into the pub during lockdown to improve the appearance inside and outside Also,a lot of attention has been paid to the new covid restriction rules.Instrucions are very clear with notices and directional arrows. The staff are also knowledgable of the procedures which make my visit easy.

My favourite pub in wimborne! HUGE beer garden that gets sun all day long and right next to the river which makes a great scenery! Staff are always on the bar so never waiting around and no waiting around for table service as staff are always walking around! Friendly and warm place to be. Must visit!

I have lived around Wimborne for years and this pub is by far the best pub for service, atmosphere and vibes. I would highly recommend to anyone coming to Wimborne. The staff are amazing and also the atmosphere is by far the best and also massive improvement on the work in the garden.

This pub has gone down hill so much it’s unrecognisable from a few years back . The landlord kicked me out because I wanted a pint in a glass not plastic - he spat in my face and set 2 bouncers on me ... and I’m a pensioner !!

Always pop in for a drink when in Wimborne though little choice of ales. Long cosy bar with low ceiling and a lovely rear beer garden beside the River Anton.

Another one of my old haunts, hasn't changed much inside, im glad to say. Service was very good, meal not bad, cut above the average for fish and chips, pit it was served up on cold plates. All in all, well worth a visit.

Saturday 7th Dec 2019 had 31 covers booked. Tremendous meal, food was superb, no complaints, nothing went back. Staff great and the chef deserves credit for everything coming out at the same time and warm. Would Highly recommend, bearing in mind it was a Saturday at 7pm too. Would definitely look to go next year

My friend and I popped in today for a quick pint after work and decided to take a look at their new menu; the menu was just right and we struggled to choose. The food was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to revisit and try their Sunday Lunch.

Went into the Rising Sun with a business colleague. The pub is nicely decorated. The staff were attentive. I ordered the Club Sandwich for £7.95. A triple lightly toasted feast that included a huge side of fries and salad. The food presentation was superb. The taste was excellent. On the back of today’s experience we have arranged a staff Xmas get together for 15 guests. I look forward to going back in a few weeks.

Visited recently with the family and all enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Sun! 3 roast beefs and 1 hake, good sized portions great food and prompt friendly service. Really appreciated the extra gravy to go with me extra Yorkshire thanks Mum!

i can only go by my two recent visits for a sunday roast.beautiful slices of SIRLION beef, (Not cheap and cheerful topside)..incredible real gravy, and all the trimmings for around 12 quid.My wife had a very well cooked, and tasty fish dish.. again, for far less than we would have paid in other places in town.i cannot understand why this place isn't far busier..

Went for lunch was given Sunday menu u had sea bream,very disappointed five tiny potatoes hardly any fish and mussels that were slimy. With some veg. I left still hungry boyfriend had lamb mash and vegetables, which he enjoyed. Very noisy locals made it difficult to enjoy food. Dont know why they changed menu we used to have lovely food there. When we went to pay barman was more interested in playing darts. We wont be back

I've just had a lovely time at the Rising sun Inn wimborne, sat in the garden, had really great fish and chips, just like the pictures as advertised, will definitely be back again.

Came here today for lunch. Had the slow cooked lamb with minted mash and roasted veg...the explosions of flavours were incredible.my dessert which I shared with my friend was a warm chocolate brownie served with ice cream.i chose the passion fruit cheese cake I would highly recommend..exellent atmosphere this is a must to visit

The wife and I called in here for lunch while in the area. Having seen some of the reviews we was not sure what to expect, but went in open minded. We had a nice drink and sat down to look at the menu. A good choice of meals available so we ordered.

I can see why this is a popular little place, with a nice waterside beer garden. We managed to squeeze into the last spot in the small carpark, and went in hoping to connect with a refreshing drink and something nice for lunch. After a quick look around, and at a menu, we walked out. For those looking for good pub food, there are plenty of options nearby - this isn't it.

Went here for wimborne folk festival, made it the best folkie. Brilliant dance, great atmosphere, awesome bands, nice staff, all round fab time. Also drink here a lot, New management are doing a good job, friendly and have brilliant ideas. Nice to see them serving food again as well

I actually cannot believe some of the reviews on here . The old place which I ve been going to for 20 years has had a face lift . Much brighter and welcoming . I myself have not eaten in here but have heard nothing but great comments . I feel relaxed and as single woman safe to pop in for a drink . The bar staff and management are friendly and even though I’ve only been a couple of times since new management have taken over , I have had a excellant night . It takes time for people to come round to new ideas in Wimborne . Yes the old disco was great but brought the wrong sort of clientele to the sun . With daily fights and five years ago got to its worst with its drug problem .
