Cafe 17 in East Dorset

We visited here on Tuesday morning and despite being very busy the staff coped admirably and food was excellent.

My family and I went for breakfast before heading to the beach. We all went for the Full English which was excellent. Cafe is well kept with a lovely garden and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

This has to be the best cafe for breakfast around and is incredibly cheap for what you get. Best ingredients particularly the bacon and sausages.

Excellent quality food, good service and clean environment, best brekky out for a long time . Will definitely return.

Came here for lunch as just looked like a quaint café. Wanted simple and easy, bit found Friendly and Fantastic!! Staff were great and food was exceptional for price.

I often go to Cafe 17 to take something to eat at my beach hut!!! Everything from the breakfasts and sausage sandwiches to Home made steak pie is absolutely delicious. The cafe is very friendly and owner run and they always make an effort to have a little chat. It makes such a difference when the owners run a business. It becomes a personal investment as well as a financial one and itv really shows at Cafe 17. The food and the service make it a definite cafe to visit..

Very good café serving good old fashioned wholesome grub from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. I had a Full English which was cooked in just a few minutes, it tasted wonderful! The service that came with it was full of smiles, as was I when I had cleared the plate! I will certainly be returning for another helping in the not too distant future.

Great breakfast, really well cooked and good portions. Local sausages and bacon used and so very tasty. Very polite and freindly service.

First time visit. Food arrived super quick, freshly cooked and really hot including the toast. Lovely cup of tea. Friendly staff and a nice clean loo. Perfect start to the day.

My husband collected a takeaway breakfast for us. We both had sandwiches, him a bacon and egg and I had bacon. The bread was lovely, so fresh and soft. The bacon was good and not too salty. I definitely recommend this place

We had a family breakfast which would be hard to beat for quality, quantity or price. Everybody was friendly and chatty and made us so welcome, we even got tourist tips and managed to get to the Eastbourne Air Show which was magnificent! Thanks for making the end of our holiday so memorable.

my second review and this time for lunch. ordered a home made meat pie with three vegatables. broocli , carrots and peas plus excellent roast potatoes. the meat pie was just excellent . full , not part full with tasty tender and not fatty meat. great to have a place like this nearby.

Once a week I go to a cafe for a small breakfast. I try cafes all over Hastings and St Leonards and this morning found, by luck, Cafe17. Excellent egg, lovely toast just done right, tasty sausage, very nice cuppa. Friendly and efficient staff, warm welcome and obviously full of regulars, always a good sign. Kids offered colouring books as they came in #great touch and not a false gesture. I really haven't been in as nice a Cafe for years. So nice I don't know why I'm telling you about it. I'll be going back to try one of their handcooked lunches.

Mi esposa y yo descubrimos este pequeño café después de aparcar cerca de las cabañas de la playa en Hastings. Nos justo después de un café, pero viendo los numerosos clientes de disfrutar todo tipo de desayunos y asados del domingo, ambos nos dieron un toque de el hambre y pedimos dos cafés y dos sandwiches de bacon, y luego nos fuimos por el café para sentarse en el sol de un pequeño patio de salida trasera. El café y los bocadillos eran excepcionales, y los propietarios eran verdaderamente agradable, amable e interesada en sus clientes. Me pareció que era un gran hallazgo, y como estamos de vuelta en Hastings en una semana o así que sin duda, volver a este ordenado, limpio y muy agradable poco Café.

Such a cleanly cooked and tasty plate of English breakfast served. Continuously excellent service and high standards over the course of the last three years as occasional visitors

Overrated,breakfast was ok bread that came with it was almost un-eatable and as for the coffee .well let's just say I won't be hurrying back

Hemos estado buscando altos y bajos de todo el país para encontrar un buen café antiguo que sirve buena comida café de calidad en inglés. Nos encontramos aquí! Productos salchichas deliciosas y otros productos. Cortar el pan recién tostado. La mermelada, el azúcar, etc. no en aquellos terribles (y destructiva), uno que sirve los paquetes. No grasienta fritos a excelentes precios relación calidad-precio. Un entorno cómodo y limpio. Está claro que la gente que dirige este lugar importa conseguir todo justo. No puedo esperar a volver!

Fantastic value for money, and very tasty. Everything cooked just right. And they have proper bread! We ordered wholemeal and it was big chunky slices, not rubbishy thin stuff. Meat & veggie options available. 5 stars without a doubt.

This us a family run cafe.. it has a great feeling inside.. they make you feel very welcome..Now for breakfast. .. brilliant. The produce is all fresh from the butchers and cooked to perfection. Reasonable prices for set menu meals but they sting you on extras But very scrummy extrasIts a busy cafe and very small so may have to wait 4 seats every now and then

its a basic café but there is parking opposite and is open Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 2 pm,., understand in builder magazine it was voted 4th best out of 165000 cafes!!!!!!!!!!wowthe food was tasty. eggs and sausages with a real special taste..the quality was excellent and I watched the food being prepared. there was a lot of attention to detail. so the food was lovingly prepared and the service also was excellent. its a real find and I will certainly visit again. highly recommended.

Eaten here about a year back and it was great for what it was. However more recent I have tried to go there nearly 3 times , all within store front opening hours times and it's always closed ?

Cafe 17 is always great value with a great selection of breakfast. The owners are always friendly and helpful. If you would like a really good cooked breakfast in Hastings or St Leonards try them out.

Quite "Frankly" the best a man (and ladies) can get,If you're looking for a friendly cafe with great staff, yummy omelettes and breakfast fit for kings then ignore the other 16 and visit Cafe 17.Maria and the team will make you feel right at home and with the weather being so beautiful there's even a garden out back too..(I think).

A thriving little café serving traditional breakfasts. All the tables were taken when we arrived but there's a little garden/yard out back with some tables and chairs so weather permitting sit outside. Not scenic but outdoors. Great service and cheap eats.

It's surprising how many cafes can't do a good British breakfast, but this one can! Good value, nice clean cafe, full up after eating, what more can you want?

Knowing we were going to arrive in Hastings early ( dropping our son off in Battle at 7am for a days fishing) I'd googled where would be open for breakfast. Café 17 showed up as not only being open but being a top spot for a builders breakfast. We're weren't disappointed. The people were so friendly. It felt like the customers already in there were regulars but they soon made us feel welcome, chatting to them and the man and lady running the café. My husband had the No5, he said it was lovely. I had the breakfast baguette, very enjoyable and filled me up for hours. If I hadn't googled it first, I might have been put off by the location. The café itself is clean and well kept but the nearby shops leave a lot to be desired. We will definitely make it our first port of call every time we visit Hastings.

Good standard selection for a caf. Tea served from an urn -- the old way. Nice coffee. Good bacon, eggs and toast too. Nice comfortable atmosphere.

We came here this morning for breakkie, we are over visiting family and this is their favourite place. Personally, English breakfasts Aren't really my thing but it was as good as they get! The sausages weren't to my liking but everyone else loved them. £22 for 4 large frys and 4 teas was excellent value.

I Have visited cafe 17 on many occassions always greeted with a friendly smile excellent food value for money excellent breakfast very tasty and the dinners are very tasty to friendly staff,

Nice and clean. Went for breakfast, the breakfast menu was near the door and there were none kids, so I asked for two items and a drink which cost £4.70 which was a bit steep. Felt pressured to order as seats very limited. Mine was a huge breakfast for £5.50, would have been better off getting him a set adult one rather than individual bits. It's very cosy and full of builders and such type of hard working individuals having a well earned break.

Popped into this small but tidy cafè on a day-trip to Hastings. Nice sunny courtyard out back. Enjoyed a tasty home-cooked meal at a very reasonable price. Service friendly and prompt. Can recommend!

Good quality. Clean. Friendly. Good prices. I'm fussy about my fry ups. This is a great place. Hunks of bread not the cheapo white sliced nasty stuff. They take pride in their fry ups.

We went for breakfast and had breakfast. We noticed it based on the sign in the window advertising coming, I think fourth out of many thousands of cafes nationwide.They're good (and deserve a 'Good' so the 'Average' is a bit unfair, to me they are not quite Very Good). Hopefully this was based on slightly disappointed expectation and not the food which was nice. It was a good fry-up from a cafe. Despite previous comments I've read my food was not all cooked to order. A lot of the bigger breakfast items were hot held. As a chef I understand this and have no problem with it, it just added to disappointment of the expectation that it was all cooked to order.I didn't get a chance to see the courtyard as the weather wouldn't allow it and I cannot fault the owners for that. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the place it just didn't have the wow factor I was expecting from such great reviews.

Found on TA and not disappointed. Had the Steak Pie, mash, cabbage, carrots and gravy.(£5.10) Everything well cooked and delicious

A great place to have breakfast. Everything is freshly cooked to order with good quality ingredients. Its always busy and it's no wonder why as it is one of the best breakfasts to be had in Hastings and St Leonards
