It was a while since we last had lunch at The Barn and as with our previous visit we throughly enjoyed everything. We both had the chicken, mushroom and quail egg pie which was delicious and looked really pretty. We also had crushed minted peas and hispi cabbage as sides, which were also tasty and plentiful. I had planned on having dessert, but was too full after my main. The service was excellent and the outside restaurant (cleverly shielded from the slight wind on the day) was lovely. The Barn is situated in the furthest part of Coworth Park where you can go for a pleasant stroll after your meal. The car park is definitely large enough to cater for all its patrons.

We took advantage of their August offer for Afternoon Tea, it was a splendid tea but marred a little by the manager who tried to overcharge us by over £20.00. This was despite having been presented with an itemised printed bill from the hotel, which clearly stated the correct outstanding price to pay. All was eventually sorted out, but it was rather embarrassing as there were other diners in the vicinity.

Had a lovely pint and sausage sandwich. Dogs made most welcome with treats and water. Just not allowed in the restaurant.

Good location to have food however the food is limited to the number of tables booked in advance for some reason therefore they only serve food until a certain time unlike the pub next door (Crown&Rose) which serves food for longer hours in the day apparently. There isn't anything healthy to eat as a snack either (Only have crisps and nuts) and apparently they do serve "desert" all hours which was offered to us as after a while we sat down since we seemed to have missed the lunch hour. I, as a vegetarian,I wouldn't have mind to be offered a salad which doesn't need to be "cooked" but "oddly" they seem to have run out of all the food supply (!) as they stated so therefore we were only offered drinks however ordering only drinks didn't seemed enough to order by the reaction we have got as it didn't feel very welcoming despite being a large group with children. Especially when I ordered a non-alcoholic drink as the designated driver...Nevertheless, we "managed" to get a table which was our aim and caught our breath after a busy day in Ascot visiting sites etc. If you are a visiting tourist, beware of the stares by locals as well as members of staff. Despite all, it was an "eye opening" experience. I would not go back for more, though...

With so many chains in the high street in Windsor, it's hard to find an independent bakery/coffee shop, so Rex is an excellent find. The sourdough breads are great for taking away and toasting. Pastries fresh and delicious. But what made it stand out was the service from Meral, the manager. She knows how to welcome people, prepare an excellent eating experience , providing us with all the sit down service. We didn't need to ask keep asking for anything. She was instinctive and knew what we wanted. She is an asset. Thank you Meral!!

Had a magnificent steak n ale pie, best in a long time. However..... asked for a little more gravy and was angry to be asked for another £1.50. A joke, considering the gravy given was no more than 50ml. So I had a dry pie. Thanks Greene King, you nailed the food and your serving lady was lovely but your greed for something that would set you back pennies had spoilt my dining. Also, the place is floodlit, no ambiance whatsoever. Will not return.
