The Barn at Coworth Park in Windsor and Maidenhead

Stunning location in the middle of the estate. A somewhat limited menu, but the food is very good. The one minor criticism is that the staff have clearly been told they have to “sell”, which means in mid conversation you’ll be interrupted to be asked if you need another bottle of water or another glass of wine. Four stars for service as a result, but otherwise very good.

We had a birthday dinner here in early January. It's a lovely setting and a really nice place to spend an evening. Food is very good, everything that we have tried is good. Service is excellent, attentive but not overly so. Atmosphere is also nice at lunch and dinner. Usually there are a good number of people there. Enjoying themselves.

Unfortunately the Barn's usually high standard fell short on this occasion. Poor service, had to ask to order, no one took drinks order either and had to ask for drink refill. Missing the usual bread and petit fours, coffee took ages and was luke warm. Overall just lacked the attention to detail expected at this price point.

We visited The Barn for my husband’s birthday. At around £120 per head for three courses, no alcohol, it’s an expensive treat! The food was amazing, as was the service. However, The Barn is basically a marquee on the side of a building. The day we went was very cold, temperature was around 0°. It was sooooooo cold in there!!!! They had some heaters on but it was very ineffective. They had provided blankets which were a lovely touch, but they didn’t help. The guests on the table behind us had four very small children, who didn’t want to sit and preferred to noisily run around the restaurant (and our table). While I accept this wasn’t the fault of the restaurant, this kind of spoilt the ambience for us. Together with the freezing temperatures, we sadly didn’t enjoy our lunch. It’s a lovely setting - with beautiful views of the grounds - but I’d suggest going for dinner if you prefer a child free environment and definitely don’t go in the winter!!

It was very disappointing when we went for lunch at Coworth Park in the Barn to celebrate our grandson’s 17th birthday on the 21st December 2024. It wasn’t the usual friendly welcome. The staff appeared to be rather stressed and they were unfriendly, aloof and disengaged. I felt we were a little nuisance instead of being graciously received. The food was terrible. The dishes were disgraceful for a 5 star restaurant. Due to my allergic reaction to lactose and milk protein, I didn’t know what to order except fish and chips. When the waitress presented it in front of me, all my family members were shocked as it was like a “burnt offering”. My daughter insisted that I should not accept such dish, worst than the takeaway. The waiter actually laughed at it too when we asked for a replacement, which wasn’t that great either. The Chateaubriand steak wasn’t what one would expect from a good restaurant. The guinea fowl was very tough and dry too with no sauces to accompany it. (There was no advice on the sauces that could be added.) The side dishes weren’t the same standard as we used to have. Honestly, the quality of the meat, fish and vegetables were all very poor, except for the chips. Sadly, last but not least, my grandson was supposed to have his little cake as a compliment didn’t appear, even after seeing others having theirs. The bill was horrendously expensive for such poor quality service, atmosphere and most importantly the food!! We can get better quality food and taste at home or in other cheaper restaurants. We tend to go to Coworth Park occasionally for special events or taking overseas friends. We’re now wary of returning.

We came here during our minimoon stay. On arrival we were treated to a glass of champagne and from start to finish the service was 10/10. We were made to feel so welcome and the staff were so attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious - the truffle pasta and chips were wonderful. The restaurant had beautiful decorations and despite being in a conservatory was really warm.

The Barn is in a separate building from the main hotel but you can get the hotel to take you there in a golf buggy. It is in an old building accessed by a humpbacked bridge over a "moat " You can sit inside or outside ( though outside is actually enclosed. We chose inside as you can watch the chefs at work. Nice atmosphere excellent and cheerful service. Starter : leek and potato soup good size and enjoyable portion. Smoked salmon always going to be good. Main : fillet steak top class, beautifully cooked. Lamb's Liver ,waiter warned me it would be rare which was how I Iike it but in fact it was medium but still OK. We ordered french fries , roasted root vegetables and minted peas . Portion sizes of all 3 were big and although we ate as much as we could as they deserved it given their excellent preparation there was a fair bit of the latter two left over. Left feeling content and full.

We visited for Sunday lunch having been to Coworth many times for afternoon tea which we have always found to be outstanding. Therefore we were disappointed to have had such a mediocre experience at The Barn. The service was somewhat lacklustre, including a menu description that was inaccurate resulting in us ordering one dish only to learn it was nothing like the description we received. The roast was fine, but nothing above standard pub fayre. The beef itself was quite unremarkable. All in all, it felt to us that the price was more reflective of the association with the Dorchester brand as opposed to the quality or experience.

First time coming here for our anniversary, Chris Valdez absolutely made the evening for us. He was so lovely, supportive, just the best service we have experienced. We tried his favourite dessert cocktail too which we loved! The attention to detail he added, just really made our evening. Thank you so much - we will be back! Couldn’t recommend more.

The chicken breast I had this evening was lovely, however the combination of extremely awkward waitresses + waiters, an unprofessional chef touching his phone then touching food with his bare hands, and a tiramisu that was actually a chocolate ganache made the evening disappointing with no desire to return. I left feeling uncomfortable and ripped off. The toilets were clean however, and there was one nice waitress with dark hair.

We had dined here before and loved it, we booked Sunday lunch this time and weren’t disappointed. Absolutely wonderful experience, we live locally and walked across the polo fields to be met on the covered terrace and shown to our table. Great view out the fields in front, and immediately given wine menu and asked if we wished water etc. Food menu followed and allowed time to make our choices, starting with delicious breads, and then into a sharing main course of the chicken, with vegetables. We were there for a couple of hours and loved it, service, quality of food and location. Highly recommend and we will be back

Beautiful scenery and exquisite food. You can really taste the quality. Service is immaculate. The vibe is casual and comfortable, recommend sitting outside! Recommend the fillet with 50/50 mash and peppercorn sauce🤌🏽 All meat on the menu is halal which is the cherry on top!

My family celebrated my 70 th birthday here on September 1st. I must commend all the staff on a wonderful afternoon the lunch was really enjoyable and the overall experience was one to remember than you to all.

After a disappointing visit, we have tracked down the former chef (via the menu) and he's now at Pennyhill Park, if you like me, are missing how good the food used to be at The Barn. And apologies to Adam Fisher for not taking note of his name before.

We had a special birthday meal at the barn and the service and food were excellent. We sat in the outside covered area where there was a relaxed atmosphere, the staff were extremely helpful and every course was a treat. We would have liked one more choice on the rose wines but other than that lunch was perfect and a birthday cake afterwards was a nice surprise.

We ate lunch twice at The Barn at Coworth Park hotel and received outstanding service and excellent food. They have both outside seating as well as inside. Food came out fast, hot and good. They have a full bar and wine list. We highly recommend it.

Phenomenal, what a place, I’m not posh so I didn’t know it existed. Was there for work and they were so kind and knowledgeable. I love food and so do they!

We visit the restaurant with our dog and staffs didn’t have correct information, one said we could sit in the terrace with dog and another came and gave us a suggestion of take away coffee and refused to have us. We felt very disrespectful

Lovely spot in coworth park, great wine menu too. The FOH staff were lovely too, and the whole decor of the place was great. The food came on time and was delicious, from the Caesar salad to the grilled salmon to the barn burger, a really lovely place. I would say for a good meal 3 courses (including 2 sides) plus a glass of wine the price per head is around 70 - this is choosing the more economic dishes but the standard makes this understandable. Great jobs done by the chefs, very efficient and great workers.

We had a nice lunch here, the service is really good and the venue is beautiful. The food is nice but it’s so expensive for what it is. Especially the kids food - that was £30 for a couple of cheese straws, a small hotdog and some fries. We were at a fine dining establishment recently and the kids food was more reasonable than that.

We took our grandson to the Barn on 2 occasions during our stay at half term. The atmosphere food and service were simply exceptional. The manager Lawrence and his team went out of their way to ensure our grandson and ourselves had a great time, nothing was too much trouble and our grandson who is 12 loved it. He had the steak and chips and ice cream and enjoyed everything. Thankyou to Lawrence Peter and the team for making half term very special and memorable!

Relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and service.

We have been a few time and we have never been disappointed. The decor is superb, the staff attentive and the food amazing. What stood out this time was the vine leaf ice cream which was unusual but delicious. It is pricey but absolutely worth it.

We have been coming to the Barn numerous times, and have never been disappointed. I booked for a group of 6 for Dinner last night, and once again we were not disappointed. Although the place was nice and heated, they had a blanket on every chair, just in case that anybody should feel cold. Luckily these were not needed. The service was good, efficient and friendly, the food was very good too, everyone of my guests commented positively about their dishes, so altogether a very nice evening meal out.

Food, amazing, service superb, atmosphere great. Recommend to have a Teopical trifle, an inspired recommendation, the cocktails (Bramble and Negroni) were gorgeous. Great place for a date night..will be back again. Thank you 😊

I’m not quite sure where to start. I’d like to be constructive and positive but this was poor from start to finish. When we ordered the Steak (for 2) and asked for medium rare, the waitress said it’s a little chuey like that. Have it medium. That should have given me a clue! We ordered 3 deserts for fun and my friend said that one of them was the worst thing she had ever experienced. We had a couple drinks each and at £320 it should have been a lot better.

We had an impromptu Saturday lunch at The Barn and everything was very good, except for an honest mistake with my wife's fish dish which the kitchen/wait staff rectified promptly. They were very good about it and the food was wonderful. Overall we had a lovely lunch and would happily go back.

Charming restaurant in the beautiful grounds at Coworth Park. This restaurant has a lovely rustic yet modern setting. We truly enjoyed our lunch here. Staff were welcoming and very friendly and our lunch was delicious. We would definitely return here.

Had high expectations after reading some reviews the venue and the staff were excellent I had the burger and chips £28 my wife had the fish of the day £34 the food was ok but nothing special when you think of what you are paying we also had a small carafe of wine we both had a desert at £18 each ok but nothing special again I’m sorry to say that we have had just as good food in some pubs total bill with service £142 pound was it value for money no

Everything about the evening was utterly faultless and it’s not often I’d say that about somewhere. The setting, service, food, drink just everything was incredible and considering the extremely high quality of food and drink it was surprisingly really good value for money. Cannot recommend The Barn highly enough!!

Fantastic service from the moment we arrived. The outdoor area is a very beautiful and peaceful setting, it’s a perfect location to eat on a summers evening. The food was delightful with plenty of vegetarian/vegan options.

Great restaurant set in beautiful grounds with excellent service and a relaxed feel. Our starters (soups and salads) were delicious but we were a little disappointed with our mains (both fish dishes, one over seasoned and the other bland). The burgers and steaks seemed more popular with other guests and perhaps what they are better known for. We will definitely return and try these next time.

Have been invited there by my friends. I don't know how to rate our dinner,as it was simply the best I have experienced. Started with the place which is unique, food was excellent (we are meat lovers and had Cote de Beouf). And of course would like to mention the person who served us and made our dinner PERFECT with his suggestions, confidence and love for what he does. I've been going here since it opened. It is still very nice but the prices have got to a daft level. Anyway, the good stuff - the marquee structure erected in covid times is now a semi-permanent affair which has been enclosed - it is lovely. The staff are all well trained and provide great service. There were four of us having just a simple 2 course lunch. Bread and dipping oils were served - fabulous bread. Starters - Mrs had a superb mushroom soup, I had 'duck pressing' - a bit dry and not enough quince, Eggs Royale (£21!) and something else. Mains - 2 fillet steaks (£52 each), some cheese dish (apparently yummy) and I had a burger (£28!). A couple of bottles of sauvignon blanc. No puddings. Bill with a 10% discount was over £350. Nuts. We had a nice time, but The Barn prices are beyond what it is worth. That said, we are local, so of course we'll go again!

A lovely place to have lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Wonderful food (spiced cauliflower soup was the surprise star of the meal) and exceptional service - that ability to make you feel special whilst not being overbearing. Fairly pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

Went to the Barn for my wife’s birthday. The sunny day, the very tasty food, excellent service and wonderfully quiet location made it very special. We enjoyed a walk in the grounds after too.

It was a bit warm for an outdoor lunch, but we braved the Barn nevertheless. We had a very enjoyable meal in beautiful surroundings. It’s not cheap, but I think it’s good value.

It's a beautiful setting. The food is good as well. The downside is the dishes are just that little bit overpriced, beyond what most would consider reasonable. Deserts all at £18? That's high, even by hotel standards for casual dining. Five stars if you never look at the bill.

With the main restaurant closed for renovations, I took breakfast and dinner there all four nights, and it did not disappoint. Wonderful menu and great farm-to-table food. Their manager, Gaetan, provided excellent advice and was a really pleasant host. The setting speaks for itself: gorgeous. I love the restaurant and everything about Coworth Park!

Thursday 28th July evening spent at The Coworth Park Barn (Ascot) beautiful surroundings. The food was superb in every way, as was the service. I sampled all the dishes and everyone excited my taste buds, but if I had to choose one, it was the Chicken in Truffle broth, succulent with the broth having just the right amount of truffle. SUPERB and well worth spending a little bit extra

It’s hard to describe actually …how amazing this place is. Stunning location, charming team, seriously incredible food. Here on a Thursday evening - very relaxed informal atmosphere. We chose to share a starter - scallops, incredible, more than enough for two as an amazing apero… Main course…OMG. Chicken with truffles, and pork belly. Neither of us are big meat eaters so this was a bit of a departure as a choice. But both dishes were delicate but explosive in taste . Would not hesitate to order again - hopefully soon!!! Wine pairing brilliant and inexpensive. Don’t hesitate - particularly in summer on the terrace

We turned up for Saturday lunch with no reservation. 80% of the tables were empty and the lady that was seating people created such a fuss, we almost left. However, she eventually found us a table and we had an okay lunch. Fish and chips...

We've visited The Barn at Cowarth Park numerous times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is excellent. My starter, which was the Sticky Beef and Truffle Mac and Cheese was the best starter that I can ever remember having. It was quite heavy for a starter, but well worth it! If you want a table here you have to book well in advance because it is popular. A few weeks in advance if you want a weekday booking, a few months if you want a weekend booking. True, it's not the cheapest night out, but I would say that the price point is just right for the standard of service you're getting.

Good food, but not all menu items actually available. Choice of wines limited and expensive. Have been many times and will continue to patronise The Barn because of its overall high food quality, it’s friendly staff and the ‘wow’ factor of the location.

Really impressed with the food and service we received during a birthday dinner that was arranged for my wife at The Barn. Lisa helped to arrange the event for our group and I was very impressed with the service and communication during the entire process. Lots of special touches were arranged for the day and Lisa’s attention to detail ensured every aspect of the planning was taken care of. During the event the service we received from Alessandro and the rest of the team was first class. It really helped to ensure the evening ran smoothly. From start to finish Alessandro ensured all of our guests were looked after. I would not hesitate to recommend the food and service at The Barn if looking for a venue for a special dinner or celebration.

The ambience and service of the Barn was good but for a top class restaurant the food was very average and at the prices being charged was not great value .

My only gripe - and it is a very small one - is I think the meat quality in the burger was too good. A really good burger needs quite a bit of fat in it prior to cooking, During the cooking process, the fat cooks out which gives a really good burger much of its flavour.
