Very unpleasant landlord. The staff were ok but the landlord was abusive to my children as we left the premises. Absolutely unacceptable to speak to a young disabled child in the way he did. I think he needs to be more respectful towards his customers !!!

🇬🇧🍻🥂🥘🎸🎶🐕🎤🔥 The Alma in Springfield Road opens daily at 12 noon and is a welcoming traditional English pub, complete with a log fireplace, a large garden full of comfortable seating, 'marquee' seating for wet days, and a fabulous menu with gluten-free selections, daily specials, and a regularly updated menu that offers your favourites! Don't miss out on Sundays when the chef cooks a fabulous roast dinner 😋 and kids can come along, too. I recommend you book for this one, just as we did and found The Alma busy when we arrived. This is a friendly community pub that welcomes dogs 🐕 and has weekly events. Tuesday night is the popular quiz night, so best book this one too! Wednesday is open mic 🎤 night and it's fantastic! I told the staff member we were told to come down and there were very rude, this place has definitely gone down hill since last year.,, found the staff unhelpful and very rude.. Seems like the new owner doesn't value old customers. ..If there's one thing in Windsor you will definitely get plenty of restaurants and bars that will accommodate your needs and appreciate our business

Great pub. They do a lovely Sunday roast and the staff are very friendly. It’s on a residential street so slightly out of town but really enjoyable atmosphere. Mid-week, they have acoustic sets from various local artists. Funny fact - Orlando Bloom was there last year on Paddy’s Day singing!

Unfortunately very average. Have been a regular drinker at the Alma for years. New group ownership has smartened it up BUT it now feels a bit corporate not family. They had no record of our table booking despite several calls. Initially they just said there were no free tables until we pushed back. Food was ok pub grub but basically microwave pre prepared. Wine expensive for average fair. Such a shame as it is my local and a reasonable drinking venue but won't be eating there again.

We booked a table for 6pm last Sunday to have a lamb shank roast dinner, when we arrived the man behind the bar asked us to pay for the dinner as well as our drinks before we had even ordered our food. We changed tables as it wasn't busy,we then ordered our meals, the food was lovely, but while we were eating the man came over with the paying machine and asked us to pay again!!.(how rude)... We then got some more drinks,I then ordered a glass of Merlot that was then served in a tall wine glass,(not a red wine glass).. Really bad customer service by this man, seemed like he did not know what he was doing!!! Would eat there again as the food was excellent 👌 But they need decent bar staff that know about front off house skills.

Gone down hill. I used to be a regular living a few years away. Returned with high expectations and was let down. The standard of the food has dropped dramatically. The previously famous burger was completely average. The chips in a cone that were also well know were also a let down. Half the quantity and as far as I can tell oven chips. Not completely awful but a long, long way below its former glory. Quite upsetting from the view of an old fan. I wouldn’t bother again.

Had the pleasure of eating in this friendly pub on the outskirts of Windsor. From the moment we walked in the friendly smiling faces of the staff were a joy. Although it was early evening, I could imagine that the atmosphere would be electric as the space just gave off those vibes. The food choice and quality was excellent and a slight error in the order was quickly resolved without any fuss. Good choice of beer and lager. Highly recommend should you be in the vicinity.

We where disappointed. Been coming the the Alma for years and was the best Sunday roast in town at one point. The food was not great. Although the service was ok, staff where unhelpful with the food complaints and unable to correct errors. My friend was embarrassed as he was the one who had suggested we eat here due to its once great reputation. Unfortunately our whole party left hungry and disappointed with the food. We later found out it had recently changed hands so we where hopeful it may be as good as it once was one day? However, reading some of the answers from the management on these reviews does make one concerned. Wish you all the best but sadly, no longer for our group

Unfortunately, since the change of management the Alma has lost its charm. This is my local and I am (was) a regular at the pub. Visiting at least 3 times a week. However, since new management the quality and general atmosphere has dipped plus the place seems emptier than usual. In addition, managements vile comments to any constructive (or unconstructive) critiscm on this platform is reprehensible. After been shown these replies by another Alma patron I am disinclined to visit any of the pubs within this managements portfolio. A real shame as this used to be a hub of the community

We were recommended the pub as a family friendly pub to take 7 children out for a meal and to play in a pub garden. The bar staff (a man and young girl) were really friendly and helpful and greeted us as we arrived. We ordered food and spent well over £200 on food and drinks. The food was lovely! There were strict signs all over the garden area about 'not running' if this is supposed to be a family friendly pub then surely you would expect children to have fun in the garden. The landlady (can only assume it was her) shouted at the 2 youngest children (3 and 4) who were playing hide and seek to 'stop running!' As they are only 3 and 4 it's not like they are athletes and running at high speed! More like an adults walking pace. We also had 2 teenagers 16 and 15 who wanted to sit inside after we had eaten, so maximum they were there for around 10minutes ,as they were cold sat in the garden. They also got told to 'leave and go back to your parents, as you have to be 18 to sit in here' by the same lady. I completely understand there are certain rules, however if you are trying to promote yourself as a family friendly pub then I'd suggest you learn how to let little things go and support larger families. The garden area is lovely and if you let parents be parents, we would have told the children to slow down and not be bellowed at by a stranger. There weren't many families in the garden at the time so them playing wasn't interrupting other families either. All in all, we definitely won't be returning here or recommending this as a 'family friendly pub'.

Recently taken over I decoded to go for Sunday lunch . We booked for 2pm and the place was dead . We ordered the Sunday roast of beef . It came on lukewarm plates . It was really disappointing, veg didn't have much flavour , the carrot was served as a big carrot cut In half . The gravy tasted like it was a ready mix not the juices from the beef . The alma a few years ago had a real buzz to it but this feels like a different pub.

The pub was not as busy as we had expected it to be upon visiting, however the staff appeared to have no idea what they were doing and took far too long to make our drinks. I asked one staff members politely to not hold his fingers at the top of the glass whilst he was pouring the beer but he then questioned why this was an issue. Obviously I do not want someones fingers in my drink and I wanted it to be poured correctly. We have not had issues with the alma before but since returning it is clearly not the same. The refurbishment is also very gloomy and strange.

Food was inedible unfortunately. Staff cleared away nearly full plates of meat. We let them know it was too chewy to eat & didnt smell or taste right and they didn’t really say anything? We don’t like to moan however the next day a few people from our party were quite unwell from the little food they did eat. There was no apology whatsoever which would have gone a long way, just a very rude manager who basically told us we were lying. 5 people ate the same meal and all 5 got sickness and dioreah, that’s quite the coincidence!! Eaten here many times previously, never used to be any issues, however they have recently changed hands and so it has very much gone down hill sadly.

A great place to stop for a coffee and a cake. I was out cycling and we passed through Windsor. Located in the old ticket hall of the station, it’s a bustling cafe with tourists visiting Windsor castle and cyclists from all over, stopping here for a break. It’s really accommodating for cyclists with its indoor bike racks, heated glove warmers in the winter time for those who like winter riding. It’s the highlight of a ride when we head out this way

Portions were small. I ordered the celeriac and the portion was tiny for a main meal. I got a slice of celeriac, *one* mushroom and some kale... that was it. Compared to others at the table who had big roasts. I left hungry.

First time coming here for our anniversary, Chris Valdez absolutely made the evening for us. He was so lovely, supportive, just the best service we have experienced. We tried his favourite dessert cocktail too which we loved! The attention to detail he added, just really made our evening. Thank you so much - we will be back! Couldn’t recommend more.

We had passed this place a number of times but always assumed it was closed or if not the car park seemed full. However we went past on a Sunday morning and it was open and the car park had been redesigned and had spaces available so we went in. It's a very traditional English cafe .The menu is all on the wall and you have to queue up to order but there is a wide selection of breakfasts to have. We ordered a variation of full English and were given a mug of tea and bread and butter was brought to our table . When the cooked breakfasts arrived very quickly we were given top ups to our mugs of tea. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced around £8.00 including tea. They have also daily specials .It's much larger than I thought as there is an indoor patio area at the back and has lots of table space. It got busy later as the locals came in , if only the tourists knew what they are missing.

Good food, lovely staff and feels like a proper local pub. Second time we've been for lunch and been a great experience both times. Recommended. Updated November 2023: We've been many times since I wrote the original review and The Duke has always delivered good food, good service and a lovely local pub vibe. Recommended! Update October 2024: still a lovely pub with good food and local pub vibe.
