I found Piecaramba on google when looking for a non-boring place to eat given that we were only visiting Winchester for the day and i didnt want to go somewhere that i could just go whilst at home. Piecaramba did not disappoint. I booked a table and the staff were prepared, very welcoming, warm, friendly and just very tentative to what we needed. The restaurant itself doesnt look much from the outside but is bursting with personality inside and the food is exquisite. The fact that i was able to play the original playstation (which i very much played in my youth) with my kids while having pie and mash (not just a standard one either, really flavourful) and a cheeky spritzer was just amazing! I felt so at home here. Really cannot emphasise enough how much i loved this place, gutted there is nothing like this where i live. Really recommend. My kids had the best day! Thankyou.

I've been here a couple of times for special occasions and my partner decided to treat me to a nice lunch. They have a pretty reasonable lunch menu for £19.17 for 2 courses. It's quite a small menu but the food we chose was excellent. My partner had the bang bang chicken skewers and chicken in a white wine sauce. I had the mozzarella salad to start followed by the vegan curry. The food was pretty good, although some of the green beans in the curry were a little but hard. As it was Halloween I just had to try the scary pumpkin desert! It was huge actually so enough for 2 of us. It wasn't listed on the menu but I had seen it advertised on the website and they were more than happy to oblige me. Overall a really lovely meal, just a few little touches missing from when we had been previously, they didn't offer to hang our jackets and there was no white table cloth on the table just paper placemats. This didn't take away from our lovely experience but just little touches that set the Ivy apart from other restaurants. With the set menu and a couple of drinks and coffee with desert the bill came to around £80. Quite expensive for lunch but a nice treat. Top tip.... its so worth joining the executive club and down loading the app as you collect points and get money off and special offers.

Service gone downhill. Dont clean the tables or remove dirty cups promptly. They dont bring your order to table, no service, very poor. Cups of coffee have shrunk in size. Will not have coffee there again. However purchased a loaf of bread which was excellent.

Go for the communal spaces not the rooms. Though I can’t speak to the food, if you want a nice atmosphere with lovely staff in well decorated communal areas then this is the hotel for you. The bedroom rooms however, are another story. Extremely dirty - including towels, sheets, stained carpets, dust everywhere and black mould (which I couldn’t help but notice when sat in the bath feeling dirtier by the second). A lack of phone or fridge may also affect your decision as well as parking being a paid extra (unlike most hotels). To the WR: Please stop your staff turning cups/mugs upside down so that the edge is touching the [dirty] sideboard. If a room is unoccupied for a while just use cup dust covers. I have spent more than 4 months in total in hotels this year, and I was sorely disappointed that the room is described as 4*, noting Travel Lodges are cleaner. They are in dire need of an upgrade, including the bedsheets, duvet and the beds themselves. See photos for proof. You really must address the rooms as they let you down and should be considered the core business. However, as I say, you have lovely staff and beautiful communal areas.

We had our wedding meal here last year so it holds very fond memories for us. After a long walk at Hinton Ampner we decided we were in need of a good Sunday roast dinner and the King Alfred did not disappoint. I had the nut roast and my husband the roast pork, if I am going to be a bit picky it wasn't as hot as it could've been but it was delicious and the roasted beetroot was so good. Staff and service was, as always, friendly and professional. The place was buzzing so that says it all, definitely need to book.

Our first visit to the Gaolhouse in a long time. It was very busy, being so close to Christmas, but we found a table. I normally eat burgers or pizza at Wetherspoons, but on this occasion I thought I'd try their seasonal Christmas lunch whilst it was available. It was absolutely brilliant! Sliced turkey, pigs in blankets, winter veg, stuffing, mash and cranberry sauce. All perfectly cooked and served by staff who were cheerful and welcoming.
