Excellent cafe serving home made food. Good value for money would defiantly return again when in the area. Recommend the Maria's full breakfast.

The food and service here is excellent with well cooked and inventive dishes served by attentive staff. The face lifted surroundings are also good but lack atmosphere and would benefit from wall hangings or drapes in the evening.

Soggy chips, small fish and not welcoming staff. Won’t buy again.

You certainly have to adjust your expectations for £80 a night but this was still quite bad - smelly, damp rooms, damaged fortune, paper thin walls and unfriendly staff at breakfast the next day (though the food was tasty and check in staff were lovely).

Was booked in for an overnight stay for work. I can honestly say this was by far the worst run down, I say “Hotel” loosely, I’ve ever had the misfortune of staying in. The building was extremely run down, the carpets threadbare, wallpaper peeling and sorry looking furniture. The rooms were even worse. I was in a room set aside for dogs that had an adjoining door to another room. This meant I was able to hear in detail the next door’s guests private conversation to his wife and his alarm the next morning. Thankfully he wasn’t a snorer. The carpet was filthy with both dead and live woodlice and other crawling things. The room had clearly been sprayed with some sort of insecticide as the stench was stifling. Despite airing the room it still choked me. The hairdryer looked like it might be worth a few bob on antique roadshow anytime soon. When pulling back the bedsheets they had small blood stains on. The wallpaper was bubbled and peeling. Having slept the night it was probably peeling because it was damp and I was struggling to breathe the following morning, which I’m guessing is from a mixture of the black mould in the bathroom and insecticide. Despite having a 45 minute wait for my onward travel I chose to sit outside on dull September morning and wait in the fresh air then remain within the building. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice, although the “hot” water for the tea was too tepid for me to enjoy a “nice” cuppa with my breakfast. I would certainly not recommend this hotel and will be speaking with my work booking team so that other colleagues do not have to visit and stay here.

Our afternoon tea was a real experience, everything was so fresh! 3 different types of jam for the scones and bottomless tea! Melt in the mouth macarons, and light as air sponge cakes. The staff were so friendly and gave us a brief history of this amazing building! us 4 “ladies of a certain age”are experienced afternoon tea experts, and rate this as one of the best!

We are staying at a friend's house in Forest Row dog-sitting whilst she's on holiday and decided to try the Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We booked a table in advance just in case. We were warmly greeted by Grace who also served us our food. She was charming, bubbly, efficient and very helpful. My husband chose the Roast Beef whilst I had the Roast Pork, both of which were delicious and perfectly cooked. There was a large selection of vegetables with the dinners, plenty of gravy as well as a large Yorkshire Pudding. The portions were so generous that neither of us had room for dessert, although we were sorely tempted. For drinks my husband chose Thatchers Gold Cider whilst I had Becks Vier. We will definitely come back again on a week day and try some of their other dishes. But the roast Sunday lunches are very good and excellent value for money. Thanks to all the staff for making our Sunday lunchtime so enjoyable.

Lovely historic ambience and architecture. Stayed in the suite for one night as had to attend a wedding. Food was lovely and service was great. Great customer service. Very pleasant and helpful. The Suite. Bathroom was beautiful although l just used the shower due to finding hair in the bath. I feel the interior decoration in the suite could be warmer, with more colour. The glass furniture in the room is rather tacky including the silver lamps too. A shame for such a lovely space and the amount paid for the night. The room of itself is a lovely size, nice windows and view. Thank you.
