We love a cooked breakfast and try different places. Maria's was the definitely the best English Breakfast we've had for a long time. Fantastic full Breakfast with high quality ingredients - great sausages. Wonderful coffee. Lovely friendly service. We will definitely go back, especially to try the lunches which looked delicious. It is a small space but doesn't feel cramped.

I had a fantastic experience at Maria's cafe and would highly recommend it! The English breakfast was especially lovely, with standout elements being the amazing sausages and perfectly poached eggs. Everything was cooked to perfection and the quality of the food was evident in every bite. The overall atmosphere of the cafe was cozy and welcoming, making for a great dining experience. I would definitely return to Maria's cafe and encourage others to give it a try!

Have now been a couple of times for breakfast/brunch to this delightful cafe. Very friendly and attentive staff. Good choices of food and drinks. I had poached eggs, Holland anise sauce on sourdough bread with crispy bacon. Simply delicious. Only problem is that because it’s a tiny cafe, if someone is talking loudly, you might as well be sitting at their table, which was slightly off putting. If your not worried, definitely worth a visit. Advise booking to avoid disappointment

We were staying in the area and decided to pop in for breakfast. The food is delicious, however the gentleman who brought us our food and the bill seemed totally disinterested in what he was doing. On arrival I asked for a table for two,he just pointed to a table. When we had just finished eating he came to our table and took sauce bottles for other diners to use without saying a word to us,a tad rude of him. On asking for the bill he did not say anything just a sort of grunt. On paying he finally spoke and asked if the food was ok .Suggest he learns how to smile and engage with customers. On that basis we will not return,a shame because the food was very good.

Sadly i do not get to visit here often enough. I always have a difficult time choosing what to have as everything looks so good. Whatever i have it is always amazing and a decent size portion too. The price reflects the food, it is not 'cheap' but it is extremely reasonably priced, probably the most reasonably priced food in the village. Parking just outside.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I'd been wanting to try this cafe for a while and had high hopes for it, nestled in a little attic above a home shop. It's worth noting that it doesn't open on Sundays and seems to be a very popular choice with the residents of Forest Row so it gets busy. Sadly I felt it could be improved upon: firstly, with the cake choice on offer on the day we visited - coffee & walnut; carrot; lemon - where was the chocolate or Victoria sponge?! Secondly, with the lunch menu that seemed to be trying too hard. I couldn't find anything savoury to tempt me, so I opted for the treacle tart with ice cream - priced at £4.95 - so I expected a fairly generous portion. It was served in what could only be described as a child's nursery bowl and within that, a child's portion. I stared down into the bowl, wondering where the rest of my slice of treacle tart was for the price. Not the indulgent weekend treat I had imagined! The only redeeming feature was the decent sized serving of vanilla ice cream that accompanied it. However, the main shock was the £8 (!) chicken and pesto toastie that my co-eater ordered, served with an unusual bean and couscous salad. Perhaps my palate just isn't discerning enough. To me, it feels like this cafe is confused, with its kiosk-style counter, left field menu and inflated prices. Sadly it is not the cosy little patisserie I'd hoped for.

The only a cafe worth going to in Forest Row or East Grinstead. I have been to Maria’s countless times over the years and continue to be impressed with their delicious breakfasts, sandwiches and sweet treats. Fresh cakes, frittata and tasty salads are prepared by Maria daily. The food is always presented attractively served with lovely coffee. The owners Gary and Maria are very accommodating for any special dietary requirements. Prices are good value also.

This has become the favourite meeting place amongst my friends. Brilliant, tasty food with very generous helpings. It is all beautifully prepared As someone on a gluten free diet I am often left with little choice on menus but here anything can be adjusted or modified to meet my needs or even mood, even some delicious cakes, and nothing is too much trouble. Friendly, attentive, yet unobtrusive welcome and service. One quickly becomes a "regular". I have recommended it to a number of friends who are all now just as enthusiastic as myself. Being manned by the owners it does have limited opening times, closing at 3.00pm. The access is a little difficult, being up a fairly steep staircase but I managed it on two sticks shortly after serious back surgery and it was worth the effort. This is balanced by the fact that there is a car park serving that building exclusively. On the very edge of the village it has a very rural view along the Medway.
