Chips like cardboard. Shame as the fish was quite nice. I don’t know how a fish and chip shop can produce such terrible chips. Dry and chewy. Never again!!

Honestly one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. I’ve had a lot of fish and chips but they do not compare to the ones here. They are so fluffy and the batter was crispy yet tasty and not too oily. The chips were really good and the customer service was amazing. Will definitely be coming back here again!

Not good . The chips were either overcooked or reheated from lunchtime - like chewing on pork scratchings, and luke warm at best !!! Fish was somewhere inside the thick batter. This was a good fish and chip shop 2 years ago - NOT ANYMORE

Shop was clean and tidy. Service was fast. Staff were friendly. Fish had a thin batter - which I prefer - and chips were hot albeit a bit too soft and soggy. I would recommend.

Very dry Fish , hardly any batter, little coating of batter which was soggy. Chips soggy too. Did not enjoy. £11 is expensive! Used to be very good but gone very downhill 😳

Great chippy here, the food was lovely, the portions where a good size and the service top notch, very welcoming and helpful. I would say the prices are a little crippling, but this is now going across the catering world, but we paid the same here for a take away that we did for a sit in meal two nights previous. Chips at over £4 a portion. There's some free parking just up the road 100m and there's no steps to negotiate on entry.

Got a large cod for a Friday night treat. Staff were friendly enough and premise was clean. When I finally got home with my cod and cut into it I was greeted with an overpowering smell of ammonia which means the fish was well past its expiring date!

A really delicious roe and great tasty chips ( and very generous quantity). Excellent service too. A fantastic experience.

Fish stunk of ammonia. Looked it up and that means it was rancid when they cooked it.

Fish was expensive. It was overcooked, clearly not fresh and was dry Largely indelible. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here any time soon.

I had a takeaway at the Forest Row shop, it was most certainly the worst fish and chips I have eaten, the fish had been double dipped to add weight it was dry, rather like eating cardboard. The chips were soggy. The next day I went back to complain, only to be told I was making it up. The way the manager dealt with it certainly gave me the impression that this was not the first time this has happened. He could not have cared less!

Charged me 11 quid for a regular fish and chips. Popped it in the box face down. When I got back it was burned underneath. Rubbish food

Best fish and chips in a 20 mile radius, not any more would now say worst fish and chips in the area. My previous lot were not good but tonight's were truly aweful.Will go back to Harbour fish bar where they don't serve cold over cooked portions

Visited Forest Roe last Monday on our way to Gatwick Airport for a fast take away meal. Very good food quickly delivered to a decent price. And the personnell were very friendly and serviceminded. Thanks and best greetings from Norway!

Just took my Cub Scout pack to Forest Roe for a chippy treat after our wide game. I didn't want to buy full portions, so the lovely chaps split some portions into paper cups for us... Thanks so much for being flexible for our community group, and putting up with some loud and muddy customers! A tasty treat to warm us up!

We come to this place often and this was the first time the food has been poor. The chips were old and hard where they'd been sat for a while and in turn weren't edible, when they cost us £6 ish for 2 portions that's not what you expect. Fish was really grease yang had dishes they the paper before we got home. Again this was sat there when we arrived so might've been why it wasn't too the normal standard when before it's been cooked fresh. With kids and the drive back down we didn't have time to return it or we'd have taken it back. Great place to get food if busy and cooked fresh but if its been sat there I'd avoid in future.

Decent crispy batter on the fish but very expensive at over £8 for take away kids portion. Chips were undercooked and soggy.

Fed the whole family for 30 quid ! Chip portions are huge. Young gentleman that I believe is the owner is the most lovely guy! Couldn’t do enough to help me and my pain in ass kids lol chips not greasy and curry sauce is amazing !! would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

We're new to the area so it's the first time we've been to Forest Roe. Really pleased to find a good quality fish and chip shop in the village that is set to become a regular favourite. Very generous portions too!

Lovely chips, just right, not soggy, cooked in decent oil, not that soya stuff that some chip shops use. Really decent portion sizes, and plastic-free packaging.

For the money you are paying you get a great value of food and the quality of food is just top notch

Service good, polite and good communication. Very clean. However in terms of the food very disappointing. Chips were okay but soggy, mushy peas are probably the worst we've had - sorry guys. Overall the food wasn't to a good standard. Originally when this new fish and Chips opened in forest row we thought it was quite good and an improvement on the last place, however now we feel the standards have dropped and we actually don't see a difference between this and the last owners. Hopefully you'll retain the same standard as when you first opened, best of luck x

Much improved over previous incarnation - clean and tidy decor and equipment and food seems great - not had a bad serving of sausage/chips yet. The price of the mushy peas and curry sauce is a bit extreme though (£2.50!). Edit: Only fair I add that peas/curry is now £1.30! Far more reasonable!

Just make your way down to this lovely fish and chip shop. I live on the SW coast and I dont think anything I've had beats this. Fresh and massive portions, enough to feed a family!!! Friendly service( I got a complimentary glass of fresh Turkish tea) Brilliant place...and although I had Rock, probably brilliant plaice too.

You wont find a batter fish n chip shop for miles around. We cod go to a nearer plaice but would flounder to find a more friendly welcoming team. Don't mullet over any longer, visit Forest Roe Fish n Chips.

Decided to head out for the evening, wanted to get some Fish and Chips to take out to the Ashdown Forest. Seemed silly getting them from where we live (Haywards Heath) So, first time visiting this fish and chip shop, great service, great chips, we had a lovely sausage in batter, will definitely use again. Great chip shop. 👍
