A nice location in the forest, hotel is clean, but needs quite a bit of TLC. It appears that some work is underway but this should reflect in the cost of the rooms. One omission is the lack of USB plugs. Not a big cost to upgrade these! Bar prices are fair and comparable to other hotels 🏨. Finally the young lady looking after the place was great and very hard working.

A really great menu. We had the sea bass on a scallop and prawn risotto which was absolutely delicious. Too full to have a pudding so hubby ordered coffee with mini pudding which took 20 minutes to arrive which was disappointing but otherwise a great meal.

The Roebuck Hotel team is great. Food was cooked to perfection served on hot plates. Staff amazing. Nothing was to much trouble. Thank you all for making my day

Very disappointing Mothers Day meal. We were not in the main restaurant but placed in the bar area and could just about hear the piano entertainment if we were very, very quiet. All furniture is old, dirty and very shabby. In fact the entire property requires a substantial decor upgrade. The arms on the arm chairs are actually quite disgustingly dirty and are overdue for replacement. Starters were not too bad, but the mains left a little to be desired. The turkey dinner was passable but sprouts were not the best and carrots extraordinarily floppy. The sirloin of beef however was another level!! The menu said served pink, well it was so pink it was raw with an incredible amount of fat and connective tissue that had not been cooked or broken down during an adequate cooking process. Not sure it had even been in the oven. The photos in the previous review are a true reflection of what we received, only wish I’d seen it sooner. To be fair the staff were friendly and helpful and changed the meals to pork and turkey, also giving us 20% off the bill but this didn’t make up for the disappointment. Maybe the kitchen needs to be made aware of how to cook beef. To cap it all the cutlery is cheap and the knives wouldn’t even cut through the Yorkshire puds, so you can only imagine the difficulty with the beef when attempting to cut that! Such a shame because this could be such a lovely venue and surprised that Greene King allow this property to continue as it does.

A truly horrible establishment. Rude and inhospitable staff. The food was disgusting, cold, undercooked and not fit for human consumption. One member of staff was obnoxiously rude to my 14 year old son and really upset him. They also tried to overcharge us on the bill, adding random drinks and food, we didn’t order, then being argumentative with us when challenged. I confronted the member of staff who insulted my son but he denied ever having the conversation with him. Awful, awful, venue.

Came here for Xmas day, first time, staff made sure all our requirements were met prior to arrival. Tables laid out beautifully and staff extremely welcoming. Food came out and looked and tasted wonderful, great space between courses, never felt rushed. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and every course delicious. Will definitely be returning!

No food just an overnight stay with breakfast before a flight from London Gatwick. Delightful setting,rooms comfortable and staff extremely friendly. Had the breakfast and it was freshly cooked and very tasty. One for the future.

Mind-numbingly dull Greene King corporate heat-up ready meals, standard menu catering for airport over-nights and passing trade. Assume the 5-star reviews are via the marketing department or ChatGPT; very average chicken pie with far too much crust, probably for that Instagram look, characterless pate. Standard corporate decor, shabby in places, surely nobody's idea of a special night out, more an eat-to-live experience.

Not having been for a while we were greeted like old friends and the ambience and service by Andrei was first class. Would recommend the environment and the delicious food.

Had an excellent lunch with my 2 girls. They really like the options on the kids menu and the food was very good. The service from Andrei was friendly and quick. Only downside was the toilets were not very clean.

Pretty disgusting really! I entered the reception, which was empty. When I finally worked out that I had to press a button on a telephone which was highlighted in Tipex, a gentleman came to help me. He appeared to have just come from the kitchen as he had an apron on and was sweating profusely! He was pleasant enough and fairly helpful. I was then shocked by a very loud HELLO, HELLO from behind me. This was a lady who then waded in and was overly loud. Possibly just me but I find that very off putting. I trundled my way through the bar (avoiding ripped carpets and flimsy ramps) with no help from poor signage, to eventually find my room. The room was disgusting, overly sprayed with some sort of aftershave to hide the damp smell. Water damage from leaking radiators, holes in walls, wallpaper coming away, damaged/stained bath the list goes on. I had two meals in the restaurant, dinner and breakfast but really shouldn't have. I had a few very embarrassing visits to my clients toilet the next day. This hotel and restaurant need a full refurbishment and the staff would benefit from further hospitality training. I have asked for a full refund.
