The best place for breakfast. We travel from Southampton each time to enjoy it. The quality of food, the service and the whole place is amazing. We absolutely love coming back and we have reassurance that the food will as superb as each time . Coming back tomorrow for a lunch and cannot wait.

During a visit to Hurst spit Lighthouse, we stopped by the restaurant to grab two takeaway teas to keep warm. It was terribly cold day and we assumed as the restaurant was very busy there wouldn’t be any space for us. We were met by Lewis, he said we could have the takeaway teas however then proceeded to offer us our own table to keep out of the cold. It was a charming place, and the way he conversed with us was very welcoming and friendly. Seeing all the gorgeous looking plates being served around us we decided that we wanted to have something to eat as well; we had a look at the menu and were served by a wonderful lady called Elise. Soup of the day was celeriac (which we never tried before) and we were a little concerned my partner may not like it. However with some gambling urge we thought to have one each. Without having to ask, Elise came back to our table, and in a small coffee cup, provided us a sample of the soup, to avoid ordering anything we didn’t like. What a really lovely gesture. It turned out we loved celeriac soup! Being animal lovers ourselves, we were also very quick to notice how many dogs were also being well looked after at their owners tables. They were provided water, treats and plenty of attention. The way Elise spoke with us and others was really amicable, endearing and helpful. It was a real pleasure to come across this place and meet the staff there. We will be definitely be visiting again when we are in the area.

Poor breakfast. We both had the small full English - thank goodness we went for the small one! Poor-quality sausage that needed more cooking, cheap bacon with white flaccid inedible fat (was it microwaved?), and the dreaded processed hash brown. Why would you serve toast with paper-wrapped butter straight from the fridge so they are like small bricks? On the plus side the coffee was great. Nice staff but they can do much better than this.

Lovely fascinating house, lovely garden by the sea, where we had a game of connect four, lovely staff team, lovely tasty breakfast! Definitely we will be back! We are a family with vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian needs and all accommodated with no fuss.

Building and Rooms lovely. Room was excellent in terms of size, appointment, cleanliness and comfort of bed (unfortunately it was a bit stuffy; noisy when kitchen fans were on; and, strangely, no-where to hang towels). Unfortunately, the Downstairs (bar and Restaurant) is tired and has a 'grubby pub' feel; e.g. crockery not clean, 'restaurant' waiting staff were super friendly but not knowledgeable nor efficient. Barman actually quite brusque and pulled cork from £30 bottle of wine out of sight of table and plonked on the table like a bottle of ketchup.
