I wish the Gun Inn could be my local! Wonderfully welcoming, characterful and service with a smile - we loved it so much we came back the next day for more. You HAVE to try their chips with gun powder and truffle oil- pure deliciousness. We bought some gun powder to take home. Do yourself a favour and drop in.

What a lovely find. Lovely little pub with a great atmosphere. Friendly, welcoming staff. Excellent food, good beer in clean, comfortable surroundings. Lots of locals in, but unlike some places you're not made to feel unwelcome. Will certainly pop in again when next down that way.

Cosy pub of the old school. Outstanding food which is more London than this 'ere 'ampshire, look you. Beer local and superb. Young, friendly guys and girls behind the bar. Lovely place you won't forget. Not cheap, but if you pay peanuts..that's all you'll get.

Just had lunch at The Gun Inn - it’s Mother’s Day (although that isn’t why we went). We’d booked a table & the owner e-mailed us the day before to enable us to order and roast if that’s what we wanted as it was going to be busy. Thoughtful touch. Food was totally delicious, roast beef & fish and chips - service fabulous, staff looked happy, well organised and really friendly, atmosphere was great, very cool about the dog. All round a lovely lunch - highly recommend. Thanks to all the team at The Gun, keep up the good work.

Yet another good lunch. We walked along the sea wall for a couple of hours then back to The Gun for lunch. We were surprised how quiet it was as on our previous visit in January 2023 it was heaving and we were lucky to get a table. Turns out most people were eating in the garden. After our lunch we went to explore the garden and realised what a treat we’d missed as it was a sunny day with light winds.

Very very expensive for a pub. We had the beefburger, which was very nice, but spoilt with garlic fries!! Inedible!! Only 2 other people eating and they also complained about fries. No atmosphere. Used to be heaving years ago, but now, not good. Won't be going back. Such a shame. Also £9.10 for a glass of red wine? Burger £19.50? These prices are restaraunt prices and more expensive than alot nicer restaurants in the area. Don't mind paying for good food and service, but disappointed in the Gun.

Visited midweek, feels and looks like a proper pub inside, v busy, menu as online, we ate pate and gurnard (both v tasty and good sized portions), smoked trout (just mashed up trout put in a bowl) and fish pie ( v mushy, lots of cheese and v little fish). We sampled their 3 draft beers which were citrusy, thin and not pleasant to drink. Also lots of dog walkers and some v noisy dogs. So overall a little disappointing with poor beer, a couple of just ok meals and too many dogs in the restaurant. Will not revisit.

A lovely small busy pub near the shore at Keyhaven. We stopped here after a walk along the marshes from Lymington. It was a gloomy, drizzly day & the pub was a welcoming stop to get warmed up & take in refreshments. We didn’t eat but the menu looked inviting if a little pricey & what food that we could see being served, looked tasty. It maybe wise to book if you were to choose here for dinner on a Sunday. There is a pay to park car park opposite.

The burger was good, but not worth £19. It has to exceed Honest Burger to be worth that and of course if didn't. Its a pub. Its worth £15 like any other good, top end pub burger of which I've had hundreds. The truffle dusting on the fries did add something On the other hand the Sunday lunch I had was one of the best Sunday lunches I've had ever and again I've had many. Well worth the £22-25 or whatever I paid. Exceptional quality and quantity

The Gun Inn has a cosy authentic bar, a restaurant and a huge garden, including a large modern covered section behind. The are very welcoming of dogs and the atmosphere is just what you want. Friendly staff, good choice of local beers the food looked and smelt great! We staggered into the Gunn Inn after a visit to Hurst Castle. It was such a hot day. Pleasantly surprised as it looked small from outside. My word what a mistake. Room after room all decorated with old pictures and were quite dark to add to the atmosphere. We wandered outside and lots of tables in the sun and some in the shade. The food was very good . We were a small group of 3 adults and 1 child. One had the beefburger he said it was the best. One a fish finger sandwich she said it was lovely. I had falafel hummus and salad and the best chips ever. The child also had the burger and chips. She didn't leave any!! A lovely day out.

Food was sadly disappointing. Ordered Pistacio Falafel with Hummus flatbread. Falafel very dry, incorrectly seasoned and came without the advertised Yoghurt dressing. Got chips instead which were not advertised!!! Sumac salad consisted of red onions and parsley and too much sumac. Flat bread was served cold ( sacrilege) and buried under everything else. Sent 2 of 3 falafel back and the bread. Certainly wide of the mark at more than £16. Shame, kitchen not up to speed with the rest of the pub, which has really made an effort since my last visit.

Very nice little pub but in my own opinion, spoilt by putting itself on a pedestal of being a niche restaurant with overpriced food for what it is. The food is very nice but wasn't a reason for returning. It seemed very much 'a place to go as a treat whilst on your holiday'. I was looking for a nice local pub with a cosy atmosphere and local selection of drinks at the bar. It has a good selection of cider, ale and wine but yet again, I think the pricing was on the steep side. If you don't mind paying more, it's a lovely place with a spacious garden to the rear. I'd think twice about returning simply based on the pricing but don't let it put you off a visit as it's in a great location near the water with a good amount of parking. I think I'm more of an old fashioned pub goer so don't let my review put you off but I'm just trying to be honest.
