Delicious food and lovely staff

Decent, cooking fresh isn't really a excuse for slow turnaround. Building itself looks abit dated to be fair, and I didn't find the food to be all that great. Subpar with other chippies in the area.

Wonderful fish and chips. I have the regular cod, small chips and mushy peas. The fish tastes really fresh with a lovely light batter, the chips are not greasy.

The good burghers of Poulner (near Ringwood) really don't know how fortunate they are to have this gem of a Chippie in their midst. Fish and Chip shops of this quality are rare. For a family of six, we had haddock that was ultra-fresh and chips that were crispy and light, packed in environmentally friendly paper containers, and served by three courteous and friendly staff. And it didn't cost us an arm and a leg! (BTW: the photos above show an old price list!) While we waited for our freshly fried fish and chips, we were encouraged to see a steady flow of appreciative customers - a good sign. So, come on Poulner, let's hear it for your Gold Top Chippie!

Very good fish and chips and plenty of choice for other options. Very good quality and portion size. Batter was light and crispy and the chips were lovely.

However, they do request via a sign to consider cash as it seems the card fees are eating into their margins, understandable given the cost of living situation. They report that the local Tesco nearby has a free ATM so this may help someone too. The staff were friendly and efficient and they clearly have a good amount of custom, even right from opening which is a good sign!

Everything is cooked fresh to order but is certainly worth the wait. Some of the best chips that I've had.

Freshly cooked to order, good portion size. Had to wait slightly longer as was busy but food was good quality. Staying at a local cam site.

Great crispy batter, juicy fish and friendly staff, it will become a regular stop off for me while heading along the A31!

Authentic fish and chips. Delicious food, fast service. It was fresh, well spiced with salt and vinegar. Cod as well haddock was very tasty, chips made of local potatoes. Highly recommend, you can't get any more authentic experience than this.

Had not had fish and chips for a while. Fancied fish and chips, and chicken nuggets and chips. Very tasty, ordered over the phone, walked straight in, dinner in 5 mins. Very friendly staff!!!!!

Wasn’t 1st time and won’t be last time absolutely great fresh fish and chips. It’s all cooked to order nice and fresh which I don’t mind waiting extra 10mins to get fresh food. On top great staff

Very tasty take away fish n chips. We both had a large Haddock with regular chips, plenty to eat. Nice that they are severed in basic paper bag so less waste. (I wouldn’t bother with plastic carriers they just get damp with the steam)

Not impressed! Won't be getting Fish & Chips here again in a hurry. As one portion was for someone with a gluten intolerance, we asked for one fish without batter and one with, which they have done before. This time when we got home, both were covered in batter, leaving soggy slimy fish when batter removed. Disgusting!

Just visited Poulner Fish and Chip shop for the first time. The food was first class, really tasty and really freshly cooked. It is worth the wait as the food is cooked to order. The staff are friendly and the shop is really clean. I would highly recommend this fish and chip shop. Will definitely visit again.

It’s my local chippy everytime I have family over, I always treat them to fish and chips at poulner as I know they never disappoint. Clean shop and great customer service keep it up.

Not good at all... scampi was so small, rattling around in the batter, Rock was very small too and as for the large chips... no way were they large. Rubbish for how long we waited...

Here on holiday and tried pie n chips from Poulners omg 😲 we thought our local was good but this was amazing never had chips like it you'd think they were air fried dry and crispy on the out fluffy on the In! Perfection, the steak n kidney pie was the best I've had in a long time. Spot on. To add; large chips was plenty between 3. And the shop is absolutely spotless.

Great chips! First chip shop I have been to where the chips haven't been sloppy and greasy. Super pies too.

I recently moved to poulner, and came to the chip shop to feed my family of 6 What can I say fantastic, clean, tasty, affordable and welcoming friendly staff, will defiantly be going back as a regular

Amazing chip shop. It has to be the best one around in my opinion

Not impressed, i ordered regular chips and the portion size was appauling. I was served by a young lad and as he added the chips to the bag you got the feeling he was being quiet tight with the portions. I even asked ' Are you sure they are regular size?' to wich he answered yes. When i left i felt ripped off at the size of the chip bag as i know other local fish and chips would give at least double the amount on there small portion. Wont be coming back!

Got haddock and chips for parents which they enjoyed and 1 regular chips would have been fine between the two of them. I had a quarter chicken which was good cooked through and not dry, just the tiny bit of wing where thin etc that dried out. Freshly cooked as waited and was fast, brought to us as we waited outside. Could have phoned an order in advance and picked up

Foods ok beefburgers are worth staying clear of though.

Great portion sizes, kids meals were just right (even for an adult!). Everything was cooked lovely and the prices were really good too. Lovely clean takeaway and covid compliant too.

Great service even with following coving guidelines. Phoned through the order, paid when I got there, had my order brought out, alm in 15 minutes. Brilliant!

Best fish and chips around! Routine stop when I travel down from London! The Cod & chips is 5/5. But more importantly, the shop very clean!

We decided to get fish and chips tonight, rang up with our order and was told it would take 15mins. I thought this was strange as they had just opened (I used to work at a chippy in my student days) we went passed on the way home to wait and the store was empty. Arrived at the allotted time and we still had a 12 minute wait. Yes 27 mins for two fish and chips. My wife however was entertained, as the servers friends turned up and barged passed everyone, this however did slow the process as they had to talk. Despite having order number one his friends were served yeap you guessed it what looked like fish and chips best but on the way out he forgot the salt, so it all had to be redone. This is not the way to treat customers, to serve your friends especially seeing that no money changed hands and no masks were worn. Paying customers treated with contempt and left waiting outside in the cold so that he can leave room for friends who by the way dumped there van on the corner causing an obstruction.

Away for the weekend and was recommended this chip shop, and I have to say it's be far the best fish and chips I've ever had! Shame it's to far away to travel to more often. 110% highly recommend.

It is OK. We went back to the shop after having left it for some time and they have definatly upped their game. There are cleanliness certificates on the wall and the menu is huge. IMO, they need to work on consistency now. One day, it's the best we've eaten and another it's not so good.

This is our local chippy and the food is ok but every time the service is painfully slow. Today I came in for one portion of chips and even had to sit and wait for this. They say they cook everything to order but there must be a reason that this is not necessary in any other perfectly good chip shop I have ever visited. The food is ok but not mind blowingly award winning. There is nothing to look at in the hot cabinet because they haven’t cooked it yet. You cannot walk in and see what takes your fancy. I waited over 10mins for a portion of chips and they weren’t even busy. Last time I tried them I added a portion of chicken nuggets to my order of large chips and battered sausage and a small cod and the nuggets could have broke a window they were so hard. They had been precooked. Tend to have to drive to Harleys in Verwood which I can do in less time and the food is always spot on.

decent fish and chips. We usually order a bag of large chips and two large cod - that's fine for two teens and two adults ( and a few slices of bread for chip butties )

I love their pea fritter is tasty first I've had that's yummy since 1999 in my old chippy in andover which us gone now. Cod was yummy batter tasty. Battered sausage was yummy to did not taste like dog meat very pleased. Chips came yummy but to many I couldn't finish. Will be buying again .

Visited whilst staying the area. Fish was cooked fresh and batter put on just before going into the fryer. Batter was crispy and Chips were really nice too.

My husband and I had 2 regular cod in batter, chips, mushy peas and pickled onions from here. The fish and chips were not greasy and we really enjoyed them. The service was very good and friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Good quality meal - just standard fish a chips - freshly cooked and of a good size. Shop was clean and there was no smell of cooking oil and staff were polite.

Large portions but not best quality.

The fish and chips are good and everything is cooked to order which means the food is always hot and fresh but I was slightly put out at the £15 minimum spend. Feel it's a bit cheeky in this day and age where everyone uses card and I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost them anything to use the card machine. I could understand a £5 minimum spend but think £15 is taking the mickey.

We frequently get fish and chips from here and it has always been good. Really friendly service, great portion sizes and cooked really well! There’s sometimes a wait if its busy but only because its all freshly cooked so happy to wait.

Local chippy to my parents. Good selection of food and fish, average on price, but most importantly it is all well cooked and tastes great!

Chips made from leather. If you like batter you like this place because thats what there is not much fish and that was dry and and over cooked.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. My partner phoned to order a meal at approx 6pm for collection at 7.30pm. This was all said to be fine. However, when he arrived, they hadn't made our food because it was 'too busy'. They then proceeded to tell us they couldn't make our order up due to them being 'snowed under'. The shop didn't seem very busy at all. All in all, they've lost a regular customer. I won't care to spend my money there again.

I arrived and ordered two meals for my children unaware of the Card limit they have which is £15!! Which I was shocked by but they did say I could get money out at Tescos however it was out of service and I had only brought my card with me and the total amount came to just over £10 so he kindly put it through so I didn't have to go else where. And I am glad the food was great the children loved it and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated them allowing me to use my card under there spend limit.

Popped in yesterday just before 1300 for fish and chips. They have an amazingly varied menu. (takeaway). Everything is freshly cooked, so expect a slight delay, seating is available, whilst you wait. The chaps serving/cooking were so pleasant. Free parking on site.

Very good food! The food is alwys prepared fresh. The fish (cod or haddock) is never frozen and is coated in fresh dough just before frying. Thre chips are never prepared prior to ordering. This causes a waiting time. But this is more than worth the result: Crisp and hot fish and chips. The personell is always very friendly. We get our family with three children fed for 15£. Good and fresh food for a decent price with friendly people behind the counter. Nothing to complain about :-)
