The Smugglers Inn in New Forest

Please visit. Recommended to us by Sammy Miller and well worth the visit. Friendly staff advised booking when we stopped for draft DOOM BAR. We returned at 630. All our meals where great. Well worth anyone visiting.

We visited the Smugglers Inn twice in 5 Days for an evening meal. The food was really good and more traditional pub style food. The service on both visits was really attentive and made you feel welcome. The pub has a real homely feel to it and was a great place to eat.

Delicious food, huge portions. Well presented. Efficient service. Wide selection of foods & daily specials. Highly recommend

What a wonderful, friendly busy dining pub. A terrific menu with specials Board and lots of homemade comfort food. Lovely staff and brilliant atmosphere, super attentive manager/hostess and sensible pub prices that will keep us going back time and again. If you go for early supper try to plan the evening for wonderful live jazz, blues or country music in the Bridge Community Centre next door. This village has everything !! Congratulations Smugglers crew!

We had a short break in Milford on Sea and went to the Smugglers Inn for lunch after visiting the beach, we were not disappointed. We shared the Nachos and some cheesy garlic bread, both were delicious, very generous portions. Would definitely recommend eating here. Great value for money, lovely staff.

Group of 8, Great food- no complaints. I had the crusted red pesto cod and it was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had.

We visited on a very busy lunchtime and were expecting a bit of a wait, however our food came out in a very reasonable time and was of great quality and quantity. I can wholly recommend the liver and bacon it was delicious although the menu is extensive and varied so there's plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and efficient and we had a very enjoyable lunch.

Roast dinner on a Sunday is an absolute yes! You've got to go! Very tasty and good portion size, would definitely go again! Puddings were also a good size, delicious moist treacle sponge mmmmm. Also,....The fact that we had booked the smugglers inn..... In Devon was a slight hiccup and hilarious, thankfully they still let us in!

We celebrated my wife's 40th Birthday at this pub and I cannot fault anything. The food was amazing and all the staff was lovely. We were a big group but nothing was too much trouble for them. We returned the next day for a Sunday roast and this was 1 of the best roasts I have had out. Well done and keep up the great service.

Good choice of food although no Meat Pies on the menu except Chicken pie bit disappointed on this but had Steak instead One of our party and a sweet which was very small so not sure what happened there as my Sticky toffee pudding was very large and tasty Will visit again on our next stay in the area

6 adults and three children, all had really good tasty food,the staff were great and so helpful and attentive, there was a great atmosphere too. All at a very reasonable price!

We’ve visited the area 3 times and chosen to come back to eat at the Smugglers Inn. Unpretentious home cooked food, fish pie and lasagne both excellent and we’ve chosen their homemade cheesecake each time. Service always friendly. Wish there were more places just like this.

Visited on the weekend as a family of 4. Staff were friendly and helpful The liver and bacon was badly over cooked and more like rubber. I understand that kitchens prepare foods etc to cope with demands etc. but no excuse to have it this badly overcooked. A chef would spot that before plating up and should not send out. Shame - could be so much better.

Visit during christmas did not disappoint. Specials of Christmas turkey and Boozy Beef (shortage of Guinness... never) where excellent and meals off menu as good as ever. Service under stress did not slip. Food temperature or quality as good as rest of the year

We had a very pleasant unhurried lunch in the lovely Smugglers. A good menu with plenty of variation at more than reasonable prices, lots of alcohol free drinks options and enough dessert choices. All good.

Absolutely awful roast turkey "special"

FANTASTIC food (Generous portions and reasonable price) and service, even the cutlery was impressive. Best toilets I have ever seen in a pub, smelled great too! Try this for food if you are in the area, you won't regret it!

Called in for a quick lunch, our first visit, burger was most tasty I’ve had for ages ; wife said liver & bacon was perfect; staff great and everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely come again soon!

I would like to say how wonderful I think the smugglers inn pub is. We have visited this warm and inviting pub on several occasions in the last month for Sunday roasts and each time we have had the most amazing experience. The attentiveness of the staff the outstanding quality and attention to detail in the presentation of the food is truly way beyond pub grub. I would highly recommend this superbly run pub to everyone. My elderly aunt who visited today from Northamptonshire said it was the best roast dinner ( and she had a child size roast) she had tasted in a pub.!! Thankyou Smugglers !! 👍 My family will see you all again on the 13th December for our Christmas dinner and music night... can't wait..

The landlord went out of his way to find us a table during what was a very busy lunch service. The restaurant area was very warm & cosy & the food arrived quickly & was delicious.

I would highly recommend this place to eat, couldn’t fault it. Welcoming friendly staff , meal was super and large portions all served to yo and lovely and hot. The white are I would definitely recommend which my partner chose and I had liver and bacon really good , we will be going again that’s for sure. Easy parking in front of the smugglers inn.

Went here last night as a group of 12 people, it’s a lovely old building plenty of charm and warmth . We had an evening meal with starters mains and some lids . I had cheesey garlic mushrooms which were delicious my husband had nachos others had soup , prawn cocktail, pate . Everyone was complimentary . I had steak and kidney pudding that was delicious and light my husband had pesto crust cod on new potatoes the rest of our party had roasts ,gammon,pies ,burgers . Some of the group had puds and enjoyed them I was too full . Staff were very good service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with them . All in all it was a lovely evening and we all would return again

3 of us + dog sat in the beer garden on an Autumn evening and watched the sun go down before moving inside to eat. The inside service was fine and the food was good. I had a homemade pie which was very good.

Had lunch here, very popular inside was full, had to sit in the garden, which was fine. We all had the Baguettes Prawn and crayfish, Cheese and Ham, and Ham and tomato. We shared the prawn one which was big, very generous protion. Dog Friendly. Parking is available. NIce choice of local beers available.

I had fish pie which was excellent. The waitress/barmaid was friendly & helpful. There was a nice friendly atmosphere.

Atmospheric pub but given entirely over to food. All tables reserved and nowhere inside to relax with a pint.

Popped in here whilst driving around for a quick bite to eat. Food was exceptional - whole place, lasagne & a prawn baguette. All was presented well, within a good time & by friendly staff. Food was very tasty, good portion sizes & hot. Really enjoyed our visit!

We always stop here for lunch on our way for a walk along Milford-on-Sea seafront. It has a reasonable size car park, large garden and children's play area. The menu is excellent, as is the quality of the food. A reasonable selection of beers served by friendly staff. Prices are also reasonable.

Great pub and atmosphere. But just one small thing. I stood at the bar and the staff were serving however my presence was not acknowledged. Maybe just me, what I would have done and used to do. Just a glance and a "be with you shortly" let's the customer know that they will be served at some point. Did not ruin the evening. Great burger 😊😊

Great pub food 🍻 Went in around 2pm on a Sunday for some lunch, looked fairly full inside but plenty of space outside on a hot day! Very Quick service, drinks came almost immediately and less than ten minutes until food came out 😊 Separate till to order from with your table number outside. We both had chilli and it was a big portion! Had a side of chips which were great and the roast dinners looked fabulous! Kids play area and dog friendly 😊

Have visited score but only for a drink. This time we had Sunday lunch and the food was very good. Considering how busy they were the service was attentive and food arrived promptly. I had the roast beef which was excellent and the portions sizes were very good in comparison to a lot of other restaurants where you usually get 1 slice of beef and 2-3 roast potatoes. At the Smugglers there was plenty of beef, no fat and the roast potatoes were cooked very well, nice and crispy and not drenched in oil. The vegetables were plentiful and it was no issue for the staff when we requested more for our table. Will definitely return when we visited Milford again.

My wife & I were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary & chose the Smugglers Inn to have lunch. We were warmly welcomed on arrival & thereafter, looked after exceptionally well, given the pub & restaurant were very busy. Our meals were cooked & presented superbly & suffice to say, were delicious (Surloin Steak, chips etc.) Being local we’ve tried several pub restaurants in & around the New Forest & can honestly say that none of them match The Smugglers Inn, based upon our recent experience. Well done to all concerned!

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here. We were kindly seated despite not making a booking (it’s very popular, so I would recommend making a booking). Service was quick and food was tasty and portions were generous. Plenty of choice on the menu. Lots of free parking. A lovely large garden with a play area for kids too. Nicely decorated inside, a traditional pub. I highly recommend this place to others.

Proper, wholesome pub grub with excellent and friendly service. We had pre-booked a table for a busy evening on a bank holiday weekend. Food was enjoyed by all 3 of us, with a particularly tasty chicken, bacon and leek pie being the highlight of the main courses. Roasts were very good, and all portion sizes were on the large side! Huge kudos to whoever put together the nachos bowl. Lots of cheese and one of the best bowl of nachos we have had! Can’t really fault the place, and would come back in a heartbeat if back in the area.

A nice popular pub. Only stopped for drinks with our dog on a rainy bank holiday afternoon.

It is absolutely perfect for families with children.. They have a well thought out playground area.. where parents can sit where they play and have lunch .. of course, an adult has to accompany the little ones playing... because the staff are far too busy cooking and serving the most fantastically tasty lunches ever. Oh, I can't wait to go back.. We all had roast dinners..the nicest roast I've ever had.. We had a 4 year old and a 1 year old with us.. both need different types of play. Both were catered for.. gold star 🌟 great planning and fabulous menu.. 👌

Good menu for a pub and food well cooked. Suggestions to consider..... Print daily specials instead of guests having to walk past other guests to read tge small print. Add price of deserts to the list (guests don't want to have to ask). Wine menu only shows price of bottles and not the price per glass. Meals sensibly priced but side orders far too expensive (onion rings £5???, cheesy chips £6??)

We haven't visited it for some time, then went there yesterday for an early dinner with some friends, we couldn't fault it, what a happy cheerful place, the quality and quantity of the food served was great. Keep it up guys, can't wait to visit it again.

19August 2024 had 3 different baguettes my daughter ate all of hers my wife less than half. My bacon and brie was a waste of food bacon tough brie tasted powdery ?? The chips were obviously reheated at least twice salad really poor. I WAS NOT CHARGED FOR Bacon and brie Not sure who was more disappointed.

But portions so generous, lasted for hours! Absolutely delicious. Nice beer as well. Great value, definitely recommended, many thanks.

Great pub, great staff serving really nice food. They don't hold back on portion sizes either!

Not a great place for food, and not getting a Yorkshire pudding, when everyone else did was an Insult. Bloody cold too would of been nice to have the heater or the surround down...shame only the manager has the knowledge to shut them. Maybe teach the staff to pull the beaded cords and zip the conservatory blind.

We knew it would be busy on a Friday night, but we took a chance. We sat in the garden and were served pretty quickly. The food, 3 x Fish n Chips, plus Liver n crispys bacon were in great portions and very filling.

Very dog friendly, great service, excellent food, staff Very polite and helpful, if you're in the area this is the place to eat and drink. Top marks..

We went to the Smugglers in not knowing anything about it .we booked a table for six one of which was a special diet. We asked for a special meal and they went out of there way to accommodate our request . All other 5 meals was really nice staff was really friendly (sharon / Karen) went above and beyond to help with a birthday cake we had brought in .

Great food the home made chicken and asparagus pie was fantastic, one of the best pies I've ever had.

What a lovely find. Lovely welcome when you walk through the door.Good a good selection of foods and drink, and they do a specials board. The food was amazing. Highly recommend good portions, tasty,hot, and freshly cooked.Homemade foods too. We ate there twice and wasn't disappointed. The coleslaw was yummy.so was the lasagne and duo of Koftas. My husband loved the brisket burger and the steak.
