The Smugglers Inn in New Forest

Great food, large portions, good beer what else could you ask for!

We only meet some friends for a couple of beers so I have marked only 3 star for food but I'll be eating there at some point in the future I'm sure then I'll give an honest opinion regarding that. As for the rest of it the atmosphere and service was good no complaints a popular place to go in a small village. Will give another update when we visit there for food.

We werenout in the conservatory as it was very busy (good sign) so didn't appreciate the atmosphere in the bar areas but certainly go back there when return to the area very shortly.

Staff were amazing, service was really quick. Only negative was the gravy had a burnt taste other than that the location was lovely and food was a fair price.

The food was discussing my steak at two attempts was inedible.the steak and horse radish pie was just lumps of potatoe two pieces of meat appsolutly awefull don’t eat there my advice is go somewhere else

Was so hungry that I forgot to take some pictures. The atmosphere is friendly, and we had chicken and beef hamburgers, chips, and some drinks to go with it.

EXCEPTIONAL !! Huge portions, very friendly staff and cleanliness is A1. Food was amazing. Def worth a visit, you will not be disappointed!

I took my mum , my dad , my partner to the smugglers inn . The food is exceptional as always the portion sizes are big and great value . We all had a different meal and no conplaints at all . We cannot wait to come back again. Customer service was great extremely friendly.

Lovely welcome - squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night. Food, staff, atmosphere and decor all top notch - very good value for money. If we lived locally, we would be regulars!

This village pub was good. I had a good experience eating at this place. I like the setup inside. I usually don't eat beetroot but I loved their Beetroot & Quinoa Vegan burger with chips.

Absolutely wonderful service and beautifully served and very generous portions of Sunday lunch. Beers are good too. Super friendly pub.

Very cosy pub, parking is free, and the food portions were very good. If I knew this would be good, I would have gone only with fish pie. I’m so full up, I had a very lovely starter of creamy cheesey mushrooms. Just a starter would have been plenty enough 😃 Nonetheless this is a lovely pub we’ve had lunch whilst exploring this area for the first time.

Our first visit tonight. What beautiful food we had, 4 different meals & all so delicious. Staff were very friendly & efficient & we didn't have to wait too long on what was a busy evening. We will definitely visit again before we go home. Thanks to all for a lovely evening.

Sunday roast is consistently lovely. I look forward to Sunday afternoons that me an my other half aren’t working so we can have a tasty hassle free roast dinner.

Went in there for dinner after a lovely walk. They catered for 39 of us, pre-booked. It was all served in a timely manner. The food was delicious.

What an amazing ploughman's for supper @ only £12.95- delicious choice of home cooked ham, pate and cheeses beautifully presented with warm baguette and a variety of lovely salad vegetables, pickled onion ,chutney and an artistically sliced🍏 apple! Great value in a friendly, warm pub!

A last minute booking taking ‘foodie’ friends for lunch. What a delightful pub this is. Very tastefully decorated, warm and cosy, with very helpful and friendly staff. The lunch surpassed expectations, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Can’t wait to go back. One of the best pub lunches we’ve enjoyed in years.

Stopped here on a very wet and rainy day. Family of 4 with a soggy doggy 🐕, dog friendly place with a water bowl as you walk in. Had lovely sausages and mash, kids had scampi and nachos. Nachos were fab with lots of cheese and onion in. Partner had pie of the day. All enjoyed and left full up and happy. Staff were lovely.

Food was excellent as was the service. Was in a party of 10.

Visited several times when on holiday. One day, I walked to the village, arrived just before opening time, and there was a big Q, expecting to take some time to be served. Waitresses were so efficient and served with what must be the best ploughman's in the forest.

Really good attentive service. Dogs very welcome. Food excellent. Five 🌟

Lovely food, great pub but a bit of a wait for food!

We have had family Sunday lunches here before and the roasts and food in general has been to a high standard, but on our last Sunday visit, the food was of a disappointing standard. The turkey roast wasn't what it should be and was below our expectations. The homemade chicken and mushroom pie was frankly, uneatable, the mushrooms were like rubber and the chicken was hard and chewy. The service was of the usual high standard, with waitresses being helpful and friendly, no complaints here. Sorry Smugglers, hopefully, this was a one off, off day.

What a find after a lovely walk with the dog. It was very busy but we were made very welcome by staff. Extensive menu settled on Liver & Bacon with a side of veg and Fish & Chips. Our order arrived piping hot and we even managed a dessert each. Will definitely return.

Excellent food, superb value and exemplary service. They couldn't do enough for us, Matt our front of house server deserves special credit. Super attentive and very professional. We'll be back with our blue Roan Cocker spaniel Eden in the week. Keep up the Excellent standards.

Food was ok. Staff were all lovely.

Really nice pub and good value for money. We had the roast turkey ( would be improved with some veggies) and the ref fillet cod and both dishes were nice. The lemon meringue was very good The waitress and host were both fab! Tha k you very much

Nice pub, good service, great choice of wines and beers. Really nice menu we were a party of 4 3 really good meals, my was a bit disappointing had the sausage and mash sausages over slightly over cooked which made them on the dry side, the mash with the bacon was an unusual touch, the wife’s salad look amazing as did the other meals. Great selection of deserts. Ye I’ll be back to try something different.

Another great visit to this establishment where you are spoilt for choice with the menu. Great pub grub and reasonable prices. The staff are very welcoming and polite, attentively checking everything is ok without overkill. Good car park in the midst of the old village of Milton on Sea and less than a mile from beach car parks.

This place goes from strength to strength. Top class management who understand quality, atmosphere, excellent value for food coupled with generous proportions, along with friendly service. We have become regular visitors here and it is now our favourite eating place in the village.

We use The Smugglers as our local. Excellent friendly service, nice food. By making this our local, speaks for itself.

Absolutely fabulous. The staff couldn't be more helpful (given that we visited without booking on a Sunday) & we were very lucky that they kindly accommodated us. The food was beautifully cooked, and very generously portioned! A shame we were so full that dessert was just not an option😂 Would highly recommend.

so sad ive always wanted to stop by here so tried my luck tonight and called ahead asking about table space and gluten free options. was given the impression there were choices so we popped down. yes it was busy and yes happy to be sat outside the main area but the only gluten free options were to remove items from the dish and most of them contained gluten and dairy both of which my child cant have the only option he could have was just ham and egg literally. no advice given just a folder presented with tick chart. ating out is difficult with a coeliac but as there are a great deal of lunchtime venues that are happy to accomodate i am disappointed that even a humble chip at the smugglers contains gluten! i do understand not everyone can be catered for but to just have one choice would be accomodating!

This pub is excellent, 👍 dog friendly and the staff are very accommodating it is advisable to book especially on a Sunday very popular thanks for helping to get my husband's wheelchair in .

Decent food at reasonable prices, staff were friendly, good range of draft and other drinks, good onsite parking. I'm quite fussy about food and was happy with what was provided especially considering the price bracket.

This has to be one of the best pub food I've ever had. The staff were great found us a table although we hadn't booked. Will deffenatly be returning

A pleasant pub and restaurant, with exposed beams giving some character to the place. A reasonable selection of beer, including 3 craft beers, plus wines. We visited early evening with a table booked for 7pm and escorted to our table by friendly staff. The food order was taken and drinks brought to the table promptly. It took a while before the food arrived, but each of the 4 of us were happy with what had been chosen. With a bill for 2 courses of food and drinks for 4 adults coming in just under £100, we thought we had reasonable value for money.

Ordered the Sunday Roast Dinner. It was good value for money and was presented excellently.

Had Sunday lunch, arrived with meat stuck on top of potatoes and lashing of gravy all over it. Do they not realise some people do not want or only want a small amount of gravy. Three of us asked for apple sauce and got One tiny dish, had to ask for more and so it went on 4 glasses for 5 people. Staff serving all table so left didn't know what right was doing.

Rather disappointed! The food was very bland and not worth the money at all, do not be fouled by the pictures. The service was average but found the staff to be very abrupt. Fine for a quick drink but nothing more.

The Sunday roast was very good, can't argue, good flavour and quantity. Puds also very good. Staff most pleasant. A minor but important issue is that my wife hates onion, leek, chives with a passion. The nachos are served according to the menu with cheese, jalapeños, sour cream and salsa. No mention of onions. We knew there would be some in the salsa so it came on the side as requested. Trouble is there were raw red onions all over the dish. WHY???? The waitress said she could take them off.(???) I ate them, my wife didn't. The vegetables with the roast were carrots, brocoli, courgettes and leeks. We were told they were sort of separate, they weren't but my wife managed to eat non tainted vegetables. It's a shame people don't understand. If it was an allergy my wife probably couldn't eat anything on any menu. Sorry Smugglers to go on, generally things were fine.

Food was lovely, apart from the pud. Lemon meringue was soggy. And pavlova was just 2 meringues on top of one another, with a very sweet jam type sauce . Mains and starters were good.

Was on holiday popped in for food, Great selection on the menu. Had the fish my wife had the lasagne which was excellent. Service and atmosphere also excellent. We came back a few days later and was just as good. Totally recommend.

Just had some lunch at this pub and as time was getting past 2pm and slowing down,, 4-5 members of staff congregated at the bar talking loudly about all their social events. We were asked by three different members initially on arrival if we'd like to order when we already had. OK atmosphere if you are an adolescent but hardly no hearty, think of the customer atmosphere, shame it had promise. Some training needed I think.

Had a quick drink, was nice and quiet, good service.
