We enjoyed a lovely lunch here. The menu was extensive with a refreshing range of prices and options. There was no wait at the bar even though every table was occupied on this busy market day Saturday. The team were smartly presented and professional and efficient - always smiling and a nothing is too much trouble attitude. Our food arrived promptly and was excellent. A decent plate full of food - tasty home made fayre. Great value for money. We had a great experience and will certainly return.

We stopped in Lymington for food, after a day at Milford on Sea. We chose this pub for a drink as it looked so pretty from the outside. It was very busy, with lots of people having food. The menu was varied, with some usual pub food, but we decided on the less usual. We can thoroughly recommend the skate wing and hake supreme. And the sundaes aren't bad either Service was very good, prices reasonable, and a great atmosphere.

Not often in Lymington but when I am, I always make sure I grab at least a pint at the Kings Head when I'm in the area. The service staff are always welcoming and friendly and the food is quite good. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is that they tend to be understaffed on weekends and the service gets stretched. This isn't a reflection of the staff themselves as they are top notch. Just a question of deployment.

We were visiting Lymington and near the harbour was this pub. As we fancied a very light lunch, we decided to give it a go. The young lady behind the bar said we could sit anywhere and that she would come and take our order. The pub has many great old features and is very reminiscent of an age gone by. We decided to order the 2 course light lunch to share between us. The food was fresh and warm and more than enough for a light meal. The fish was perfectly cooked, the only snag was that I would have preferred chips rather than fried but that I guess is a personal choice. The food was reasonably priced and nice, good spot for a bite or a drink

Service good, atmosphere fantastic, however, seems the roasts have changed recently, with the sides of veg now not as good (sweetcorn instead of brocoli for example is pretty random). Hoping it will revert to how it was a couple of years ago. Still my favourite pub in Lymington though.

Lovely old pub with loads of character. The food was delicious. My only disappointment was that I had said when booking that we were a visually impaired group, but we were given no help finding our table or carrying drinks, which is tricky when you have a white stick in one hand, as as it's an old pub, there were steps up and down to negotiate. As soon as we'd paid for our food and drinks, the drinks were put on the bar, and the barmaid tuned out to assistance requests. Granted, it was busy, but it felt like we weren't genuinely welcome.

Me and my son had fish and chips far to large, keep your prices down, give smaller portions, we were asked if we wanted a sweet, not enough room, i noticed people were having one drink with there meal and leaving, as we did drinks and food are ridiculously exspensive, keep your prices reasonable people would drink more.i will never come to your pub again and i come regular to the auto jumble i would never recommend you.

Visited for dinner on the 17th Feb. What a fantastic night. It's an incredibly cosy pub, which always has a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent- I didn't get the name of the woman who served us (wore glasses and very funny), but she was really lovely and perfectly advised on options through the night. The choice of wine is good, but the food was simply exceptional. I had one of the specials (pork wrapped in parma ham, potato fondant, sautéed cabbage and pancetta, with an apple glaze and french mustard jus thing!), and it was one of the BEST meals I've ever had in my life. I could have eaten another immediately afterwards (which wasn't down to the portion size!). Our overall bill inc tip was £60pp, but our choice of wine skewed this. The food is incredible value for money. We've had a few meals here (sausage and mash, scampi, signature fish and chips are brilliant too), and it always delivers. Whenever we're in Lymington to visit family, we always try to visit here. 10/10 recommend.

We visited Lymington for the day and wanted a cosy pub with delicious food. Having walked out of another pub in the harbour due to poor service and bad attitudes, we were all smiles when we walked into the Kings Head. It was warm from the log fires, pretty with fairy lights and although busy, was just the right level of cosy. We were greeted at the bar by lovely, friendly staff and managed to find a perfect table right in the centre of the pub. We ordered the burger, fish cakes which came on a bed of samphire with caper butter, and a cheese and red onion toastie for our daughter all of which came with fries. The food arrived quickly and I can honestly say it was all absolutely delicious. The best pub food we have had for a long time. The toilets were well maintained and spotlessly clean. The pub is an asset to that section of Lymington and the management should be proud. Made for a perfect afternoon and we will definitely be back.

Visited twice for dinner on a visit to Lymington in September. It’s a lovely old pub, really cosy so particularly nice in autumn/winter! Friendly staff and very helpful. My first visit it was quite busy but they found me and my dog a table quickly enough. Dog treats also supplied!!!! I had a nice Thai beef curry, plenty of it and very tasty with tender beef. My second visit I turned up quite late in the eve due to a change of plans but they were still happy to serve me. This time I went for the burger. Being honest, it wasn’t the best burger I’ve had as not that tasty but good quality meat just needed a little something. Chips were good and the service was as friendly as ever so probably just down to my personal preference for burgers! I’m a regular visitor to Lymington/New Forest and I’ll definitely come back here again, it’s cosy, friendly and good food. Make sure you give it a visit.

We were given a great table right in the bay window at the front of the pub. The food was very good, with lovely fresh pan-fried fish, tasty salads and plenty of options for the children. Average experience this time, the steak and ale pie was dry and gravy bland which was a great shame as loved it last time. The service was really non-existent and at the end we paid our bil which was relatively expensive and left. Then a bloke ran after us down the road telling us we had been overcharged. Then when he checked he said we'd been undercharged, so feeling a little concerned we took pictures of the menu and went home, turned out we paid £185 and our actual bill should have been £149 so God knows who's bill we paid. Won't be going back for a while

Booking seems like a must to get a table at this popular pub. It has lots of character and there is a cosy atmosphere inside. We had a table by the fireplace. As we were a little tucked away, the staff seemed to overlook us a bit. This coupled with a busy evening meant the service was a bit slow. We ordered the duck confit and fish and chips. Portions are very generous, especially the fish and chips. If anything, it was too big - the two of us could easily have shared it. All the food was tasty, shame there was no room for pudding!

I would have gave 5*, but we went there Saturday. We had burgers. Very good food. But what let it down was that we went there today. For Sunday roast. Order a starter olives. And 2 roast beef. They all came out the same time. So I had to ask if I could take home the olives. The roast came out as soon as we ordered. A bottle of water was £4.50 which we was not told.only found out when we got the bill. We felt we were rushed. As soon as we finished our main. The pudding menu was there. No chance to relax. Saturday I give them 10/10 . Today I give them 4/10 .
