Lovely pub on the cobbled streets of Lymington. Food was delicious, staff friendly and its Dog friendly.

What a lovely place, first time visiting but won't be the last. Next time we will stay for food it looked amazing

Had an evening meal there last Friday night, the steak pie and mash was brill, old school, pie made in house, just like home👍 My wife had the sea bass, again, really good. Only a small criticism, the ambience was a bit dark to eat, I was alright but to pick the bones out of the sea bass was a bit tricky.

Visited for dinner on the 17th Feb. What a fantastic night. It's an incredibly cosy pub, which always has a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent- I didn't get the name of the woman who served us (wore glasses and very funny), but she was really lovely and perfectly advised on options through the night. The choice of wine is good, but the food was simply exceptional. I had one of the specials (pork wrapped in parma ham, potato fondant, sautéed cabbage and pancetta, with an apple glaze and french mustard jus thing!), and it was one of the BEST meals I've ever had in my life. I could have eaten another immediately afterwards (which wasn't down to the portion size!). Our overall bill inc tip was £60pp, but our choice of wine skewed this. The food is incredible value for money. We've had a few meals here (sausage and mash, scampi, signature fish and chips are brilliant too), and it always delivers. Whenever we're in Lymington to visit family, we always try to visit here. 10/10 recommend.

Nice and cosy popular pub on the cobbled area of Lymington not far from the Quay. Good range of food. Excellent and friendly staff. Small outside area for when the weather is good. Can get busy so worth booking if eating.

The Kings Head Lymington. Good food & bar. No child high chairs available. Two or 3 steps into the pub. Going from daylight into darkish pub you may not see them. Tables very close together, ok for someone on sticks or crutches, but not for wheel chairs. Small garden at rear. Friendly staff.

Good old fashioned pub with good food and open fires

Second time here, two years since first visit and it's just as lovely. I wish I had a place like this where I live, I'd be a regular as a cuppa tea next to the fire here on a winters afternoon is magical!!

Had some really nice food amongst a group of friends. Nice beers and lovely homemade pies. Yum!

This is my go to option with sailing clients in Lymington,a delightful walk the cobbled street from the Town Quay. Staff are always accommodating, friendly and helpful. Perhaps a bit pricey- you get what you pay for. Food is delicious and prompt, great choice of Ales. Booking advisable.

One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in years, great meaty packed pie as well. It gets busy so reserve if your visiting.

People queuing for this restaurant to open extremely busy food was excellent served piping hot and very quick considering they were busy. Service was good. Lovely homely feel inside. Well worth a visit.

A lovely pub that we stumbled upon in Lymington - we would highly recommend! We arrived at midday on a Sunday and we were seated immediately (we had not booked). However, I would recommend booking as the pub filled up quickly with bookings. We had the tomato soup, sausages and mash, and steak an ale pie. All the food was delicious and arrived promptly. The pub had a lovely atmosphere - very cosy and autumnal. The service we received was friendly and efficient. Overall, a lovely lunch and we will definitely return.

My wife and I had a lovely meal at the Kings Head, and the service was good.

The food was excellent I have only marked it down one point for service because the two staff that were working were run of their feet as the pub was busier than expected. But I would definitely recommend it and will be back when I'm next in Lymington.

Fantastic food, service and really dog friendly. I can see why this place always has reserved tables. Saying that, we visited twice (as a walk-in) and managed to get a table. Food is very good quality, good portion sizes. Really nice and relaxing environment. Will definitely come again and would recommend.

Ale pie, crust was hard as nails. Very little meat. Peas under cooked. Would not go back.

I hadn’t been here for a long time and I was looking forward to the steak & ale pie with shortcrust pastry. What a disappointment! The pastry was anything but short and dreadful, like leather.

Just had drinks in there but was a vibrant atmosphere and excellent service

We both had haddock and chips, which were perfectly cooked with really nice batter. We sat in the small courtyard, which was a sun trap on a blustery day! Pub is also dog friendly!

Average experience this time, the steak and ale pie was dry and gravy bland which was a great shame as loved it last time. The service was really non-existent and at the end we paid our bil which was relatively expensive and left. Then a bloke ran after us down the road telling us we had been overcharged. Then when he checked he said we'd been undercharged, so feeling a little concerned we took pictures of the menu and went home, turned out we paid £185 and our actual bill should have been £149 so God knows who's bill we paid. Won't be going back for a while

Went here instead of the Ship Inn. Whilst you don’t get the riverside view you do get good service and decent food. There is a small little sun trap of a garden. Not much to look at but allows you to bask in the sun still. Inside the pub has a rustic charm and I’m sure would be cosy and warm in the winter.

Has tons of character and good food, but overpriced.

Came in for a drink on a Thursday evening. Staff were extremely friendly and it was a nice cosy spot to sit and chat. Would come back for dinner if there were some more vegan food options in the future !

Best pub in Lymington, delicious food and great atmosphere

Our B&B owner suggested this traditional pub. We had the king prawn tempura and salt and pepper squids. They were very tasty. The atmosphere was nice and cosy. Especially the fireplace!!

Went New years day for Sunday Roast and I can honestly say, apart from mums, I've never had a better roast, next to a crackling fire. Beautiful

Went here for lunch and what can I say, the food is excellent. We had the bread and olives to start, the bread was amazing as was the oil and olives, we also had potato skins and these were probably the best I've ever eaten. Now for the main test, the pie. I'd been on a 10 year search for a great pie and been let down, but the King's Head seems to have solved that, it was delicious, right consistency, correct pastry. Was just brilliant. Will most definitely be back. Well done to the staff.

Popped in for a quick coffee, friendly staff & very helpful

Went for a Sunday lunch and immediately afterwards, ended up with food poisoning. Can't go into details (as it would be too much information for anyone to handle) but go here if you want the same. Contacted the Manager to inform them of the problem and he was not at all bothered, not even to ask which meal I had eaten at his establishment. We will not be going here again, as it is pretty obvious they do not care about the well-being of their customers, they just want your money. Worst attitude I have ever come across. My GP is now investigating whether it is salmonella or campylobacter poisoning.

Absolutely stunning pub in the heart of Lymington. Parts of it date back 300 years and the oak beams were taken from Napoleonic ships. Good selection of cask ales, including some from the local Ringwood brewery, and also well-kept Timothy Taylor Landlord. Clearly a locals’ favourite but the lovely staff were very welcoming to us holiday visitors and dogs. Visited late on a Friday evening and mid-Saturday afternoon. I adore pubs like this!

Came in for lunch for 6 people. Lovely pub, clean and nice interior and clean toilets. Food was good although the burger was a bit dry. Lovely apple and blackberry crumble!

What a well run establishment. Good beer, great food and the hardworking staff are a credit to the town of Lymington. We will visit again!

Service was abysmal! We booked for 3 of us at 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:25pm and were plonked in a corner table almost hidden from sight. Thank goodness we ordered a drink as we sat down because once that was served, we waited 35 minutes for anyone to come and take our order - and we were only served finally when my Mum stood up from the table, waved and called the waitress who looked surprised that we wanted to place a food order. No apology! We then waited a further 30 minutes for our 1 course to be served - and again, no apology! The food was excellent. On paying, I made a point of telling a different waitress how great the food was but how dreadful the service was and the wait for food was much too long - especially with no forewarning. I was assured the feedback would be passed on - but thought I should make sure people are aware about how long they will need to wait for service and food.

Really wasn't impressed with the standard of the food, and the manager was very rude when this was highlighted. I won't be returning despite this previously being one of my favourite places to go in Lymington, due to the poor customer service that I experienced which has prompted this review. I have had no cause to complain before and was so disappointed with the way I was treated.
