We used this pub for an overnight stay in our campervan on route to a campsite. I rang ahead to check that was OK and booked in for an evening meal. I'm so glad I did. The food was really good and the young lady who served us was very helpful. My husband is a very fussy eater and she made sure his order was spot on. We were both really pleased with our food and we also tried their pale ale. All in all a very pleasant evening

15 QUID for this was an actual travesty And to top if off you have to go and collect the food yourself I think the management needs to have a proper sit down and re think on what they are offering people because this is an actual joke The girl behind the bar also played with her septum piercing the whole time she was serving customers 🤢 🤢 🤢 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON FOOD AT THIS PREMISES

What a fantastic location! Been coming here for over 12 years and seen it change a bit Unfortunately the beer is terrible but the food is good I believe (only ordered chips). When I say the beer is terrible I am referring to the bland national offerings and not the actual quality of product. Nothing local with good flavour, for example. Service was poor and mainly kids running the bar. Ordered a simple 2 portion of chips and one was reafy in 5 mins but they had no memory of the 2nd. 15 mins later I got them somehow! Such a shame. This was on Sunday about 2pm. However, the food and drink prices look to be unusually low for this part of the world 🙂 Give it a go for the location and potentially good food. Bring your own beer though and don't expect local products 😆

Allegedly the hunt of smugglers, this remote pub, at the end of a country lane, looks out towards Southampton Water. The old photos show it has been extended out the front, probably due to it's popularity. The disused water mill and tidal mill pond are still in the background. Some nice beers and a good pub menu. What an amazing pub this is. Nothing to complain about in any way whatsoever. The staff are great and very efficient and friendly, the food was good and the prices were bang on point. We were a large group of 14 people and we provided the food order ahead of time. All the food came out as ordered and was delicious. Great spot and even allow people to stay over if need be (some of us were in our campervans). If you want good ‘clean’ food then you can’t go wrong - the pork shank was HUGE and a lot of us had the lamb shank which was very well cooked and tasty. Brilliant evening all round. I will definitely be returning.

Tucked down a narrow road at the southern end of Fawley the Jolly Sailor has been a local favourite for many years. Often has live music and you can sit outside. Best when the tide is in a bit as at low tide Ashlett Creek is a bit muddy to look at , but beware of Spring tides as the car park and quay get flooded. You can walk from her to Calshot.

Some years ago my brother & his wife moved from the 'bright lights' of the Winchester environs down to Fawley on Water-side... and has never been happier..! As I now begin to wind down from what was a fast-paced media career, I must admit I now look forward to popping down to visit them when time permits, as I find that edge of The New Forest, with the myriad villages that inhabit the side of Southampton Water down to Calshot, rather quirky as, to me, it has all the feel of a place that 'time happily forgot'.. and I love it! I especially love it when my brother suggests a relaxing wander down the hill from his village to nearby Ashlett Creek and The Jolly Sailor pub that awaits us at the end of the single-track road.. ending in what is effectively a small inlet that I am told was once Southampton's original port way back in the mists of time..! A smashing wee pub in the traditional sense of the word, the treat for me is sitting outside on the pub's expansive green with its many tables overlooking the aforementioned Southampton Water and the maritime too-ings & fro-ings of a very busy commercial & cruise liner waterway, with a Guinness or cider in hand. Though I've yet to experience a meal from what is to my eyes a good-looking 'pub-grub' menu, I am pleased, having made my hour-long drive down to this neck of the woods, (and with a return journey beckoning at day's end), that along with all their traditional beers & ales on offer, they now have 3 non-alcohol bottled drinks on offer! Once a poor relation in the brewing world, (and sadly tasting as much), the non-alcohol industry has finally pulled its socks up and though 0.00 Guinness, (my go-to choice when I am driving and can't indulge my love of tasting differing ciders), is not yet available at The Jolly Sailor, I was offered a Thatchers alcohol-free cider.. and though my initial reaction as that life-time cider drinker was 'you just can't have a non-alcoholic cider, that's an alien concept.!!' ... it turned out to be very palatable and as close to a 'proper' cider as I've had!!.! So armed with a bottle of Thatchers 'Zero' in the afternoon sunshine of a Friday afternoon in late May, I enjoyed a very pleasant hour on pub's green with my nearest & dearest chatting, enjoying following the cation on Southampton Water and generally enjoying listening to a number of happy young families getting stuck into their delicious-looking pub lunches! Situated where it is at the bottom of the hill, I certainly felt I was miles way from the hustle & bustle of life, and with the warm welcome proffered by the bar staff, I am very much looking forward to my next Thatcher's' Zero' down in Haslett Creek.. a location that feels as close to being away on a vacation that I have experienced within such a short radius of my own home..!

Just popped in for a Sunday lunchtime drink following a walk with the dogs. Sat outside in the open beer garden with a pleasant view overlooking Ashlett Creak. Inside the pub the decorations and facilities were very much in the traditional country fashion. The service was polite and efficient, and the food looked appetising although as mentioned above we didn't stop for lunch. If we had done so we may well have given a 5 star rating? The pub had 2 bars, one set primarily as a restaurant. In the other public bar it appeared that dogs with well behaved owners were welcome! Overall a charming pub, one which we look forward to visiting again in the future.
