Amazing food and service, best local pub around!

Really lovely food. Lovely family run pub. Very good value and plenty of choices. Our meals were cooked to perfection. I will definately be going again.

Shared a couple of starters - good quality, really tasty and good value. Served all day as well. Ales weren't to my taste but Thatcher's Gold is! Will definitely keep going there.

Great pub, nice food and friendly welcome!! Popped in here on a Saturday lunchtime for a quick bite. It’s recently changed management and gone is the huge portions and massive menu. Nothing wrong with the old place, we’ve never had a bad meal there but the portion size was bordering on the gluttonous!! Now a slimmed down menu with a salt specials board, reasonable prices and tasty concoctions. Mixed bean chilli and a seafood madras was ordered with a pint of local Flacks double drop ale. The food arrived in short time and was decent portion size and very tasty. Both dishes came with addons as can be seen in the photos and overall a very tasty reasonably process meal. It was a bit quiet in the place although lots of tables were getting reserved signs put out for later which was a good sign. They also do a bikers night on Thursday evening’s which I believe is becoming quite popular. Overall it’s a great local pub and definitely on our list of approved hostelries!!

This is one place I can return knowing I'm going to enjoy the food and drink, always pleasant and friendly.

It has pretty much become the new Southampton Bike Night venue on Thursdays and it's becoming more popular by the week, always something unusual there. Expensive beers and drinks but reasonably priced food on the bike night menu.

Visited New Forest this week . The staff at The Coach and Horses restaurant are very friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere of the restaurant is so relaxing. I ordered 3 Beans Chili but it is not available so I had Chili con carne.All food serve are all delecious and well presented. We will visit again someday.

Nice Sunday lunch- very yummy. Cannot fault the food. Laid back pub which is what we wanted. Perhaps a little too laid back when you’re hearing the staff clean tables talking about how Phoebe got fired…

The pub is pleasant, and the service is friendly and smiling. We have found this pub by chance: we were lucky! This place is a place to know. We choose a fish and chip and a hamburger; both were excellent and large. In summary, I recommend this nice pub.

I really like this pub. Always has great food and good portions. But came here for anniversary with wife. Came in and ordered two burgers, drinks and sat down. 10 mins later another couple come in and get table service, order the same thing we heard as we were the only two couples there. 5 minutes later they have two burgers. Clearly ours. Then we wait for 20 mins then asked about ours and it's been lost. There was only two tickets. Not sure how this is possible? All we got was a half hearted apology who blamed the chef.

Good food, very good service, good value The gammon came with a double fried egg. The scampi was plentiful, both meals where piping hot. The specials board had plenty of choice As it was a Tuesday the pub was a little quiet, button be expected. All in all, good food, good value, good service

Went for the bike night there, 1st time. Colour me impressed.. Nice food, lovely staff, great company of fellow bikers with some wow machines.

I visited with mum, dad and brother this evening. We ordered haddock, lasagne and two chicken, bacon and leek pies, plus drinks. The haddock was delicious, the lasagne was OK, but the pies were very hard and dry. The one for my mum was almost inedible and half of it had to be left. When the servers came to check, my mum said she couldn’t eat it as it was rock hard. She was offered a replacement but she didn’t want one and so left it, and then was cleared away. We were expecting a discount for the inedible pie, but it wasn’t offered. It felt like we had to argue for it. Eventually after having to press for a discount the manager took off the price of a couple of drinks - less than the amount of the pie. We left feeling disappointed and my mum was upset that the manager didn’t seem concerned about the pie being served was inedible.

On holiday in the New Forest and staying at an AirBnB nearby. This was one of the pub / restaurants we were recommended and we weren't disappointed. Good range of food and specials with prompt service. Food was great and there was also a good range of beers.

Great Thursday bike night. Quite a qué for the bar and expensive but worth it.

Lunch sitting in the garden- great, friendly service. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Hot wings, halloumi and roasted pepper burger and chicken, avocado and bacon salad - which was really nicely done and hefty portion 👌

We wandered into the Coach and Horses on a Saturday lunchtime without a booking, and were pleased to find space for the four of us. Beers were ordered at the bar, "double drop" along with a tea and coke, we then studied the menu and specials board. No starters were ordered as we could see from the other tables that the portions looked large. The mixed bean chilli was decent and seemed to be a normal size, then the other mains appeared. The plowman's was huge, with tonnes of cheese and ham amongst other items, the pickled onions and egg were delicious. Two of us ordered the mixed grills, these were massive and well cooked. Steak was cooked to our liking and sat alongside pork chop, gammon, sausages, egg, mushrooms, peas and chips. The service and value was excellent, we all left happily full.

Lovely weekend away with the girls and so we popped in here for some lunch and afternoon drinks as it was just down the road from where we were staying, a lovely young lady took our drink and food orders, the food came out as ordered and it was delicious, the table was cleared when we'd finished eating. We all commented on how lovely the service was and how nice it is to be served by someone with a smile and politeness. It just added to our weekend away. We hope to visit again, thank you

We visited last night, we chose the pub due to the location ( friends all coming from different directions). I had read the reviews which are mixed but that is due to the pub changing hands a few times. We had mains & desserts. 4 of us had the coach burger which was really good. Tasty, decent sized burger & well presented. One of us had sausages & mash with veg which again was really good. Desserts brownie sundae & honeycomb cheesecakes all went down well. Reasonably priced overall. About £25 for main, dessert & a soft drink. All the staff were friendly & one in particular who served us for most of the evening I have to mention, was the lovely Katherine 😊 We would definitely return & would recommend

Food, staff and beer excellent. I had the ribs and they were fantastic. Sooo tender with loads of meat. My Husband had the steak and stilton pie which he said was unbelievably tasty. There is also a great atmosphere. Brilliant bands on a Friday too. Can highly recommend this pub.

We went to the Coach and Horses for Sunday lunch and booked a last minute table. We had seen good reviews and had high hopes and the food and service didn’t disappoint. The numerous staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and we have eaten out for Sunday lunch a lot so have a lot to compare to. It has that cooked from home feel and taste. Another potential highlight is puddings come with custard which seems to be rare these days however I had no room to try these on this visit but will be sure to next time. Tables around us were also complimenting the food so this was a shared view. So give this local pub a try. They work hard and deserve and appreciate your custom

We went there after coming back from a funeral and we enjoyed are food we had Hunters Chicken Skillet absoultley fabouilus service great too.

The pub has been taken over now by a lovely couple and family, they have really turnt the place around, the food is really good and great value for money, the staff are always friendly and polite there is plenty of drinks to choose from and it has a lovely atmosphere about the place especially on a winters evening when the open fire is going, also its a dog friendly pub which is great if you have been out on a walk and fancy a pint and want to warm yourself up by the fire. Highly recommend going for food or just an evening out for drinks.

Visited for a Sunday roast. Really reasonably priced, the food was delicious. Children's roast at £10 was incredible value as it was a decent size, not much smaller than an adults. Plenty of lovely, fresh veg, lovely cauliflower cheese made with a great tasty cheese. Wait staff were lovely and helpful. We will be back.

This public house is lovely and clean, stopped serving food at 1430, asked for bar foods all that was available was crisps and nuts, pint of doom bar warm,no atmosphere at all, disappointing as last visit a couple years ago was amazing

Went to one of the bike meets over xmas, nice pub, good for a meet but total disorganized. They advertised for the meet at midday but were not prepared for serving lots of hot drinks (one slow coffee machine), no beer drinking as all of us were riding.

Amazing place, you should all try it! I visit for the bike nights and the monthly music quiz.

Stopped off the M27 for food on the way home. Portion sizes really generous and the flavour was brilliant. Feel like we've found a new favourite stop off

Since new ownership I am really happy with this place. It looks like the food has improved a lot also. I have not tried but will next visit .

I have been a few times now. Recently under new owners. Menu has been renewed and slimed down. The food and portion sizes are good. 2 courses and 2 drinks came to £41 I think it's worth a drive out of your way. Lunchtimes are really busy, but the evenings are dead, so if you want a relaxing atmosphere with not a ton of people, then it's great. And the staff are always amazing. And very attentive.

Lovely dog friendly pub,staff can't do enough for you made us feel very welcome. We've had 3 roast dinners here now and each time absolutely delicious plenty of it & variety of veg. No room left for a pudding. Definitely going back to try steak night !!

Went for the bike night. It was great loads of bikers. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Only complaint is the way they handle orders. They could probably use a tannoy and order numbers on a receipt to help reduce confusion and missing orders. Other than that it was great.

On the off chance we stopp3d for food amd asked if we could park for the night in our camper, they were so welcoming. 10/10

We have been a few times now and we always have great food, great service, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Returning after an absence to discover a new broom has meant just that.. excellent service and competitively priced very tasty food will mean coming back more often. Highly recommended

Went to the bike night there on a Thursday. One of the best nights Ive had. Bar staff are lovely and there were loads of amazing bikes there.

Food was very basic and not as described. Tasted good, wasn't a carbonate. Stroganoff again was simply a rice block and a load of beef chunks , source was way too salty. Not terrible but again not a stroganoff. Nice people, well intentioned.

Really pleasant pub with reliably good food. A hot day, do we sat in the garden under shade. Charlotte, who was running the bar, couldn't have been more helpful: bought out drinks and food to our table and even agreed to store some frozen food for us, to be collected later. If only service like this was available everywhere! Highly recommended.

Friendly welcome and advice on the menu. Our sirloin steaks were very tender and perfectly cooked to match our orders. Plenty of quiet corners to hide away in!

First night of our holiday, came in for dinner. I'm a veggie so the hubby looks forward to a steak meal when we eat out. The Coach and Horses offer a choice of rump or sirloin on their menu - but not when you order! We left!

A lovely dog friendly pub, atmosphere was superb, food was cooked to perfection. Very attentive staff. It's nice to go to a pub with home cooked food. Definitely will be returning. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Food below average, sunday roast (beef) was overcooked, burger was completely burnt, had to return twice. Customer service below average. Do not recommend.

Loved it here, lovely place and food outstanding. The menus were varied and easy to read. The service we received was outstanding and staff so friendly and acclmmodating. Will definitely return.

Lovely atmosphere! Stopped in for some pudding and drinks! Service is lovely! Puddings were Devine and although we didn’t eat dinner here the meals we saw leaving the kitchen looked amazing can’t wait to come back and try the main meals!

Lovely meal with the family, best roast I've had around the area , the new management have really turned this place around, would definitely recommend and will be returning in the week to try something else on the menu thanks to the team for being so welcoming

Good food. Recently refurbished and under new management so early days yet. It was very quiet, staff very friendly.

I think this place is under new management so they are just finding their feet. Food ambience and service were just average but maybe in time will get better.

We came up for the weekend and stayed at Bartley lodged and walked down to the coach and horse. Staff were so friendly and accommodating as we had our dog & the food was great. Really good value for money. Would highly recommend lunch & dinner here.

Lovely staff. Sadly the food wasn’t up to parr. Chicken burger was tiny and for the cost we thought we had a child’s portion

The worst meal I have ever had. Went with a group and really enjoyed the company but the food was awful. For a Sunday lunch it was packaged Pork which was barely warm, the plates were cold and the meat was tasteless. Then the apple pie came out on cold plates at just above fridge temperature despite us asking for it to be hot. Furthermore, when we complained the response was an arrogant " well we don't want to serve it so hot that you burn yourself: " It wasn't even warm. Nice staff but it didn't make up for what was a waste of money and and an appalling host response.

Had lunch here with all my family for my mums birthday, the roast was lovely and it was dog and child friendly also. We will definitely be returning it's easy too get to and a whole round lovely experience.

Came in had the paramo off the specials board and have to say was outstanding only place ever had one is Middlesbrough but this was a classic and defo would have again.

Called in today while passing and found the Coach and Horses to be a lovely pub with a good choice of fresh food. The landlady, Charlotte was very warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough. We will be calling back.

We visited The Coach and Horses on Sunday for a roast. Absolutely delicious and would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, and lovely staff who were happy to help with any request. Beautifully presented and perfectly portioned, just the right size to top it off with delicious cheesecake too. We will be back!

Nice place for food, we had the Sunday lunch which was really nice, The new management were friendly and approachable. The only thing we would suggest is that the Sunday lunches could do with more vegetables and potatoes. Other than that, we would definitely recommend

Extremely disappointed! Waited 40 minutes for a roast. When it arrived it was like childs portion. It was also lukewarm. Not much variety of vegetables, roast potatoes look like one small potato cut into 5 or 6 pieces and small yorkshire pudding was chewy. Only giving one star as owner gave us a discount. Will not be eating here again. Not a birthday meal to enjoy.

Just had a lovely roast beef lunch. Really tasty. Cheesecake to follow. Very nice thankyou Faith for serving us so well. We will be back! X
