Good buffet breakfast.

Great place. Food great plus beer great too. Staff are great.

The staff were very welcoming and come across as happy in their jobs. The food was excellent. We've been a few times this year and had the same great service each time. Will definitely return.

Food was really nice and the staff out front was lovely however the chef looks like they need a word with because one of the chefs was swearing and had a proper attitude which was upsetting for me and my family to hear as we had youngs kids with us which they don’t need to hear

Normally enjoy going to the haywain however went yesterday (20th Oct 2024) and the roast potatoes were rock hard & dry. The toilets are filthy, looks as if they are never cleaned. My father in law went to put his car reg in, the man infront coughed all over the screen and the person working at the bar wasn’t even going to clean it until asked by my father&mother in law. Cleanliness is a basic requirement in every restaurant and it’s definitely not clean at the haywain. I have been ill ever since my visit yesterday and I will not be returning back.

Our new go to place. Love it we take the small amount of food we want. Lemon meringue sundae is to die for!

We come here regularly as a family and we enjoy the food here. The carvery is delicious, great selection and the menu has a great range of dishes if you do not want a carvery. I didn't have a carvery today as i wanted to try something from the new menu, the crispy chicken pieces were delicious and so was the chicken burger with the tater tots, awesome. The service is always good, friendly staff and we would like to thank Shelby for being very kind to us, was lovely to talk to and was working hard to keep everything tidy. We would certainly recommend this place.

Update: We celebrated my birthday on Sunday and were made so welcome, the food was excellent, reasonably priced and customer service went as far as everyone singing me Happy birthday with a cake. Would highly recommend since new management took over We will definitely be back to try the new menu though I love the carvery Thank you very much I had visited a couple of times over the last few months, I was not impressed with the food (cold) service (dreadful and such a rude manager) FAST FORWARD to last night, I had booked the table for family visiting and was handy location for us all. Wow it was as if there was a totally new feeling when i walked through the door, it was a completely different pub. The smiles we experienced when we arrived were welcoming, the pub was spotless and the tables no longer sticky and the cutlery was shining not smeared. Ordering drinks from the bar more smiles and welcoming. I enquired about the change since i last visited, I was told there was a new permanent manager, a lovely lady introduced herself to me and i told her about the issues i had had previously, she said obviously she couldn't do anything about my past visits but if i had any issue whatever in future just to speak to her (sorry i couldn't remember your name) The food was fresh, piping hot and very enjoyable, service excellent I could not fault anything from the moment we arrived to when we left. We will 100% return and recommend anyone to try it again you will not be disappointed

Food today was very poor only lukewarm not nice at all! .

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff named Nathan. The carvery server Nicky was professional and chatty. The food was tasty but the potatoes although cooked the outside was hard and not crispy. My friend and my mobility is poor and Nathan offered to carry our plates to the table which we very much appreciated.

Lovely helpful staff with our grandson who has a Gluten allergy.Special thanks to Ellie she made our day.

The lady greeting at the door was really helpful in finding us a table as we hadn't booked and it was a busy Sunday lunchtime. Her extra effort was very much appreciated. Food was excellent. We had carvery and everything was fresh and there was plenty of it. Really friendly staff all round.

We turned up without booking on a Sunday, knowing it would be a long shot. The lovely lady working the front desk told us it would be an hours wait for a table, which we said was fine and would wait in the car. She then took our number and promised to call if a table became free before then. 20 minutes later she called and was able to seat us straight away. Excellent customer service. Carvery was really good, all looked fresh and plenty of vegetables to choose from.

Had to be dragged out because i was so full up of the amazing food the team prepared! Insane service, the speed of service definitely didn't alter the quality one bit!! I will be back in a hurry!

On my recent visit I have enjoyed carvery.The food was excellent,cooked well,meat was tender.The service was wonderful.Staff was attentive.Overall it was excellent dinning experience with perfect ambience

Yet again no meat this is the same as the last time we visited we was told we would have to wait 30 minutes for meat to be cooked so we got a refund and left and won’t be returning which is a shame because we used to love this place

Worst roast ever roast potatoes were rock hard couldn't eat the meat full of fat Commented to staff about potatoes she tried to change them new ones were just as bad will avoid for a while

Great to see one of the old staff back again I can't remember her name but she is the really short blonde one with the attitude of a professional always helping and my kids love her as she always makes them smile All the best to Bruce and his team he really keeps the place happy and vibrant and such a great guy

This was a regular place for a great carvery. Unfortunately the last 2 visits have been very disappointing. The roast potatoes and some other vegetables seem to be yesterdays left overs reheated.

Ordered Dessert got informed that there was no cream no alternative and no discount for the desserts that did not have any on them

We stopped at this pub as been many times before It was just before 1pm on a Saturday so we thought it would be busy. When we arrived the car park was practically empty, alarm bells rang slightly. We ordered 2 carveries. I felt put off as soon as we got to the carvery section. The chef was disgustingly dirty. His whites were absolutely filthy as were his nails. The food was really died up and only tepid despite digging deep into the bowls. The mash was just full of lumps and roast potatoes were hardly kripsy The gravy was barely warm. My husband normally eats all his carvery normally but even he left half his. I ate two mouthfuls and just couldn’t stomach any more This report is going to trading standards and the health inspector. It wasn’t even worth 1 star. No wonder the car park was empty

The Haywain is a lovely restaurant. We eat here often and keep coming back, yes we’ve tried the others .

my self hubby and 2 sisters met for lunch friday 2nd aug we had carvery point 1 turkey sliced so thin like ham very little on plate roast pots whwat can i say were black greasy stuffing so hard had job to put on plates then veg was minamaland cold gravy full of lumps we were so hungry ate a little and left so disgusted as always been good there but as we are not complainers we left dissapointed will not recomend for service at there sadly and no return for long time in which it may improve

Great food , availability and service. Can always get a table here and this is because the staff here are so very helpful, polite and attentive. Even when busy. Good value for money clean and lots of offers with app

1pm on a very hot Wednesday. Didn't book, but as the place was very quiet, not a problem. A big controlled carpark. Sat next to a window for the small breeze. Starters: prawns, & mushrooms - nicely done. Scampi main was a bit small. Carvery meats of beef, and turkey were tasty, and tender. Veggies ok, roasties good, and gravy choice ample. Cold desserts, all different sundaes, were surprisingly excellent value. Very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Great value all round.

As a Coeliac I cannot recommend this family restaurant enough. Everyone was so friendly & helpful to me & my husband , and I was given a gluten free allergy menu to look at on an iPad so I could check the food content before ordering. The girl at the till let me take my time. I chose an amazing carvery. The staff asked the chef to do my vegetables separately in case of cross contamination, and I then was carved ample meat and given tasty roast potatoes from the carvery station. I also had a jug of gluten free gravy brought to the table. All in all I was made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for all the very patient staff who served us. A lovely experience. Thank you!

Beef was beautiful and home cooked potatoes

Three orders, two came quickly. The 3rd meal came after the other food was eaten. If they had waited their food would have gone cold.

Been before no air doors closed. This time the welcoming from the bar man was excellent, he said the doors are open took my drinks to the table whilst I got my family to join us. Showed me the new app very supportive we will go again meat was lovely.

Decided to come back again since last time was amazing and it changed a lot there for good the staff was fantastic considering how busy they was

Okay, went on a Friday, it was not busy, ordered two chicken burgers, not a hard order, after over half hour had to ask where our meal was. Other people came in after us and were served their food a lot quicker. Food good value,but if I popped in, for my lunch break would not bother. Was recommended but will not return, sorry

Ordered the beef, as I was really looking forward to it, but after 3bites I hit the sinew, not just a bit but the whole slice , sent it back to get 3 small slices of topside, which was lovely, the more grizzle. That was it my stomach went. Took me back to old school dinners with ventricles everywhere making my wretch until I spat it out. Never again. Got a refund but an excuse for an apology. Shame the place goes back and forth with each change of management.

Positives: Space, variety of food Negatives: Roast carvery. Had to wait for replacement yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, potatoes, carrots & swede, stuffing as it had all run out and took ages to be replaced. Mint sauce was empty and not replaced. Gravy was incredibly lumpy and so I asked for a sieve. Coke was flat. Plastic still attached to cucumber on a child's meal. Selection of chicken had to be returned as it was all over done and as hard as rock. Replacement was equally as bad and did not get eaten either. Ketchup was empty and salt cellar was clogged. Table was very sticky and wet.

I was at this place today with three friends for lunch. Excellent Food Today. Excellent Service. The staff very helpful and polite. Nothing too much trouble. Definately be back again.

Nathan who served us behind the bar for the order was so supportive with our complicated order (due to the kids not having this or that). Smiled all the time. Food was quick to the table, everyone happy. You can’t train customer service but Nathan has it in bucket loads. Well done.

All very good and clean, but the place is looking a bit tired. No complaints about the food though as the roast potatoes make up for it.

We stopped at the Haywain on the way to visit relatives. On arrival we were greeted by Ellie, she was smiley and welcoming. Shelly took our order, nothing was too much trouble. Our food was delivered quickly and was delicious. Great coffee toi. We will definitely be back. Ax

I came to visit after my sister asked me to pop in. The service, food and atmosphere was fab. I hadn’t visited the site previously, but been to other stone houses and I have to say, the experience I had today was fantastic. Although the site is not local to me, I will be sure to visit incredibly frequently bringing my family along with me. Thank you for the fantastic experience! PS - I’d recommend the Veggie Pizza with sausage! Delightful.

Had the £5 Carvery food very nice staff very pleasant as always

Went there for breakfast today, little note on the door that there are no breakfasts this week but still open for lunch. Is the morning chef on holiday by any chance so the easy option is just to say nothing for this wee rather than covering it, very poor indeed.

Normally good food this time cold

First time at this restaurant and unfortunately we chose fathers day weekend. The service was good and staff were pleasent. However, the carvery we ordered only had the remenents of one meat and some dry veg. We asked to change the meal but this was unavailable too. Such a shame as it was a birthday treat. Staff were helpful and offered a refund.

We went on recommendation. It was so worth it. Staff were friendly and welcoming, food was excellent, cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend going especially for the unlimited breakfast. Reasonable prices

Got ripped off for parking charge. No obvious indication of likely charge and no warning from staff. A nice way for Stonehouse to reduce their debt margin. Vegetables undercooked. After many years of occasional visits, won't be returning.

A favourite place for the lunchtime carvery. Love the Bottomless Icecream for dessert!

Used to visit Haywain regularly but stopped visiting since they set up the parking cameras. Unsupportive to the local school. Unfriendly.

Although it was booked a few days in advance, we weren't warned that they were running short of staff and the carvery was on offer. Not the full menu. To be fair the veggies were good, but the beef was less palatable. The turkey and gammon was delicious. The wait was also longer than expected, but the staff tried their best.

My family had a lovely meal for a birthday a few weeks ago. In the evening. We had 3 cars, all arrived together.....all left together. TODAY ONE VEHICLE RECEIVED A PARKING TICKET FOR £100!!!! BE CAREFUL WHEN VISITING HERE.

Service was awful, carvery was poor as run out of lots of stuff not quick too replenish. They seemed to spend more time filling up the takeaway orders. Food quality gone down hill

First time we've visited. Extremely friendly welcome from Theresa front of house. I'd booked online & requested a quiet area & was very impressed that this was considered. Ordering was a little complicated for me. I ordered using the order at table QR code but had no receipt to show at the carvery as my payment was still "pending" on my bank app. Theresa was very patient & helpful & checked it had gone through & got a receipt for us. If I'd known I could order at the bar I'd have done that but we weren't aware we could. That's not a negative, that's just me being me & making a muddle and being too shy to ask at the start. We had the carvery & a sundae. Both main & dessert were amazing. The carvery was fresh & not frozen roasties etc. Friendly service too. Would definitely visit again.

Not much veg selection the young girl on carvery could not stress enough that meat was portioned and would not give they lady in front of me the meat that had fallen down side but was happy to give it to next lady gravy lumpy no mint sauce

We came on Sunday for a roast there was no gammon or turkey left (wating time for fresh meet 15 minutes) no gravy and potatoes, empty trays, seems like they are always short staffed, looks like they are not ready for busy Sundays

Very disappointed with the service we arrived Saturday morning at about 8.50 waiting for the Nine O'Clock opening time as we were waiting there were about 20 other people also waiting in the car park time got to about 8.59 we then approached the door to go in and have our most anticipated breakfast but on the door was a very small sign saying no breakfast short staffed I myself was most disappointed along with the 20 other people waiting outside I had previously checked the website and found nothing on there about not opening very poor web service anyway all was not lost as we then proceeded to the Toby Carvery Hinton and had a lovely breakfast we were going to return to the haywain in the evening for the evening meal but due to not knowing whether they were going to be open or not we went back to the Toby Carvery hinton and had a lovely lamb roast instead so as far as I was concerned the Haywain missed out on about 80 pounds of business from us alone very poor show will not be going back again

When is open is an okay breakfast, but a lottery when you drive across the forest to find its closed for no water or no electric or no staff,and sometimes no breakfast items. Shows online as being open when not 😔

We’ve been here a few times and have our Christmas dinner here as love a good carvery and all you can eat self service. Thought we’d try coming for a breakfast on a Friday. Really disappointed. Only option for eggs was scrambled which was so solid it was like a cake. Sausages tasted cook but were hard. Hash browns were over done and solid. Bacon was just awful. Only edible items for me were the fried bread and tomatoes. This was without the trays being under the heat lights very long so no excuse for everything to be overcooked and hard. This was supposed to be a treat but we would have been better off spending the money at McDonald’s.

Have for many years called in for a breakfast. Food good.Last went in on 15 April 2024 after a long drive from the west country.Got home today to a £100.00 parking fine for parking in there carpark to go get a breakfast.Thats me done as a long served customer.Spoke to them and told to bring reciept in and they will sort it tomorrow.but no breakfast available as chiefs of sick.Back to morrisons it is then tomorrow Great grub there..No chance of a parking ticket either.

Black carrots in the pot told the chef I had a dirty look nothing said and walked off , food was disgusting service was shocking , interior was dirty . Overall awful experience will never return and will tell family and friends not to bother too.

A group of five of us, 4 adults and a teenager, visited here last week for lunch. We were on a short trip to the New Forest in awful weather and searching for lunch. We were greeted promptly and courteously and shown to a table. Service was quick and cheerful; choice of food was excellent and staff made a particular "tweak" for our autistic teenager. The food was hot and delicious. A good "find".

Decided to have a celebratory meal for my son's 18 th birthday and my god this place has gone down hill. We soon realised there was something wrong when the carpark was completely empty on a Saturday... The food was dry including my son's burger that I sent back , Ive seen much better microwave burgers. The veg had been left out so long it dried out . Every meal was overcooked, honestly! I was absolutely gob smacked how bad this was , how hard is it to cook a burger or even vegetables. Won't be going back anytime soon

The food was the nicest its ever been! The only downfall was It says "beat the que" on the table signs by ordering through the app. But when we waited for over 10 mins and asked the waitress we were told they were sorry but the bar was busy! Defeats the object! It also wasn't clear you need to show the carver your phone as what you had purchased online. I had clicked off it and then had to ask them to print me off a receipt to prove what I had ordered! Confusing method but again, the food itself was the best it's been!

Went to the haywain for some food on a Sunday and the service was amazing , was served by a lovely Alex on the bar who was very polite . The food was amazing and atmosphere made it a great experience.

Waited 45 minutes for burger to come out not advertised of the wait when the burger came out the pulled pork that was in it was so cold it felt frozen the girl that served us was very polite and took the food back to get it resolved but had to then wait again

Our visit was awful. It started with "sit anywhere you like just not there as it's dirty" the restaurant was almost empty. Drink were brought to the table and spilt over 2 guests. There was an apology but no real care about the fact a glass of red wine had been spilt on clothing. The food, off the menu rather than carvery, was not good. The veggie pizza was pretty plain and the burgers were dry. We ordered desserts but they were forgotten about until we chased them. This is the worst visit I have ever had to this restaurant. My friends visiting from our office town have also sent a review. Each time they visited the bar to order the staff were sat talking to their friends rather than taking any real interest in the guests

Carvery for a late lunch. All food was cooked well, and all fresh. Busy place so could just forgive lack of sauces available and messy gravy station.
