Debbie and her lovely team looked after us all so well and served a delicious afternoon tea. Debbie is fantastic with customers and will do everything she can to guarantee a great experience. Our group enjoyed themselves hugely and it was largely due to the fantastic atmosphere she have created to give a lovely environment to the village tearooms. It comes into its own even more at Christmas! we will return again and again thank you Debbie

Just had the Sunday roast carvery. It's under new ownership, only opened this week and it was amazing. With a choice of 4 meats and wide variety veg, lots of different accompaniments you really feel spoilt The roast potatoes are crispy and Yorkshire puddings are perfect. The staff are friendly and attentive and the pub had a lovely atmosphere, very cosy🤩 They are a tapas bar on Monday -Saturday, carvery on a Sunday. We can't wait to come back to try the tapas!

Met up with friends for a quick meal before attending a local charity quiz night and the service was just amazing, Our server was really efficient and helpful and both food and drink were great. My crab cake and chips was tasty as was the chicken schnitzel and beef pie. We didnt have time for dessert but will return as this was just a lovely dining experience.

A very enjoyable meal here in a good atmosphere with very well prepared food. We went on a week night so not too busy which meant we had a choice of table and were offered a very nice with a view of the fire which on a cold November night was very welcoming. The service was excellent with two different young ladies serving us both were very friendly and quite happy to give us as much time as we wanted to choose our courses. As well as a very nice menu there was also a specials board and our order combined one choice off the board and the rest from the menu. We both chose the Duck for main course which was delicious and I would certainly recommend it. Everything that arrived to the table was hot and cooked perfectly. The deserts we had were the Blackberry crumble cheesecake and the Apple Tart both of which were lovely and the Blackberry crumble flavour to the cheesecake was a great combination. The Bill was at a price I expected and was happy with, although the Chequers is classed as a pub I would say the restaurant is a bit above standard gastro pub but the prices are kept at a reasonable level. So in summery I would be happy to recommend the Chequers and will go back there again in the future.

Booked a table having viewed the menu online which looked quite good for three people well in advance on a Wednesday evening. Pleasant enough greeting and showed to our table and given the menu. We were then told that one of the staters and two of the mains were not available. We ordered our starters and mains. Then we were told that one of the starters that two people had ordered was also not available. I changed mine for soup and my friend declined a starter. The soup was lukewarm and my other friends soup was the same. I had linguine for my mains which was also lukewarm bland and very gooey. Both my friends had king prawns which came floating in a bowl in some sort of unappetising liquid. They looked like they had come from a supermarket packet. Both my friends tasted them and they weren’t impressed. Then we ordered dessert only to be told that the one dessert I would have ordered wasn’t available. Awful as far as I’m concerned especially for a midweek as they weren’t very busy. Won’t go again and it wasn’t cheap either. Shame as it looks a really nice place.
