We had such a wonderful time today. I had the vegan afternoon tea and it was wonderful. Such attention to detail and the quality of the food was excellent. Everything was so fresh and the scones were warm and crumbly. The highlight was definitely the delicious chocolate cake!! Will certainly be returning!

This place is fantastic. We enjoyed an afternoon tea. Not really sure where to start. Everything about the tea room had been cleverly thought out, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff couldn’t of been friendlier. The food was all really fresh, good choice of sandwiches, 3 different cakes and the lightest scones I’ve eaten in a very long time. As a coffee drinker, it was nice to have a caffertiere to enjoy with my food. My friends and I couldn’t eat it all, and were given a box to take it home. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic afternoon tea at a very competitive price. As well as the delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones (choice of four jams!), they have a large range of teas (incl black, green, decaf, rooibos, fruit, peppermint etc), you can also have coffee, hot chocolate or soft drinks instead of tea which is very good, as not everyone likes tea. Also oat milk was available for us, very impressed. Plenty of refills on the teas incl in the price. Lovely pair of women who run the business and serve - we weren't rushed, very good natured and put us at our ease. They also sell Village Maid (local) cheeses, apple juice, jewelry and others items. Can't praise it enough. Very impressed. Thank you.

We booked afternoon tea for my daughter's 18th birthday and the ladies who work at the tea rooms went out of their way to make it special. They catered for my extremely fussy other daughter which was hugely appreciated. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious and the service was spot on - thank you.

We visited yesterday with family from the USA who wanted a quintessential english tea experience. I can honestly say this was the nicest, friendliest most amazing tea room with beautiful food, lovely ladies running it and just the best experience ever!! So reasonably priced and nothing was too much trouble, we had a vegan and a toddler with us and both catered for beautifully! We would highly reccommend this brilliant tea room and cannot wait to bring friends and family back!!

This is a truly great experience of an English tearoom. It’s in a very unprepossessing building but once inside it’s exactly what you want. All laid out with tablecloths and vintage china with a fabulous selection of homemade cakes. We had morning coffee (hot chocolate actually) and cake, but were carrying out a recce for an afternoon tea and it definitely fits the bill. It was our first visit but it won’t be our last.

We had a delicious afternoon tea. Not a special occasion - just 2 mums wanting to have a nice catch up. The menu is so reasonable & great value for money. The selection of sandwiches was excellent and very fresh. Made with care. The cakes were delicious and the warm scones such a treat! It was so nice to have beautiful cutlery and plates. The tea rooms are beautifully decorated. Given how much Costa or Starbucks etc cost I would much prefer to eat here and will be making regular visits when I have time to sit and enjoy but also I will pop in for takeaway coffee and cake especially when I visit the park next door with my son! This is a tea room with so much to offer!!!

For anyone that has not yet discovered the tea room at Riseley, I simply cannot recommend it highly enough, A great little unspoiled venue with fabulous service and amazing food. It’s definitely with booking in advance but the team do their best to accommodate walk ins. You can have tea and cakes, or a full afternoon tea, you can also just pop in and grab a takeaway which we have done. If eating in, the crockery is a particular highlight and adds to the experience. The team could not be more welcoming or accommodating. Children are also welcome and my daughter was made to feel very special and grown up. There is plenty of parking and a park outside for the kids to have a run out. In the summer the doors are often open out to the green. I would like to say if you’ve a special occasion coming up, get booked in but to be honest, a rainy day is enough of an occasion to visit, we now go whoever we can to support this fantastic and local hidden gem,

The last time we went the scones were warm but this time they were really cold - as if they had come straight out of the fridge. They have home made cakes under glass domes which you can purchase to take home but they cakes they serve for the afternoon tea are not home made - they are shop bought. We asked if one had nuts in and the lady said she would look on the packet. Despite this the teas are all loose leaf and the selection is wonderful - I always choose Oolong with lemon slices.

Well I suppose it's never a good idea to have high expectations when visiting a new venue. It's a village hall effectively decorated with old and old fashioned tea crockery. A good effort for the limited surroundings but it does feel temporary (which I guess it is as only open limited hours). Even though you don't have to book to have the cream tea, i.e. Tea and cake available on the day, it seems if you book a group in advance you have to pay at least £8 up front pp just for the privilege of reserving a seat even if you don't want cream tea (excess refunded on the day). It was very cold on arrival but soon became warm enough as tea and people arrived.I'm told the servers are volunteers so this can excuse the sometimes blunt manner and some errors with service. On the whole it was ok but not up to some more official tea rooms / hotels/ stately homes. Cream tea is reasonable at £12 but gluten free cream tea is 25% more expensive than normal which is unacceptable to me. Only one choice of gluten free cake was offered and the gluten free scone was less than half the size of a normal one. The normal sandwiches looked good and seemed fresh but only one scone per person and limited cake in cream tea option. More cake on the side but presumably extra cost.Jam (choice of) and cream only served later so don't eat the scone first! They have a few different sorts of tea but if you want coffee it's only a cafetière. I ordered decaf cafetière (pleased they do offer this) however I was presented with a teapot of some sort of tea. This was replaced on request with a the requisite cafetière (no apology) but they forgot to replace the cup they had taken away. If you want more tea/coffee you have to ask for it. Worth trying though and probably seems better if you don't hear /read the raving reviews first. Signposted, on sat nav and good parking.

Fine china and crisp white tablecloths. Loose tea in a pot! The atmosphere was warm and friendly, an excellent place to visit for afternoon tea with friends. We chose the cream tea - the scones were tasty, and with generous portions of fruity jam and clotted cream. This is one place that I would definitely visit again. I would book in advance though to avoid disappointment.

Had afternoon tea (booked well in advance) with some friends and must say it was the best afternoon tea experience I have ever had.!!!! Two weeks before I was at the Oxo Tower and thought that this good but this was exceptional. Sandwiches and fillings all hand made, pastries and scones all home baked. We had a vegetarian and gluten free visitor with us and nothing was too much trouble. The neatly pressed linen serviettes and the china cups were adorable. Place was spotless. Well done to all involved in this wonderful community based project. I will be back!!

And if have tried a few ..... only one more thing could have made it perfect. The option of perhaps a cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney as an alternative for those of us who prefer savoury to sweet treats

If you want a traditional English tea visit Riseley Village Hall. Open on Thursdays through Saturday it ios a most pleasant way of spending an afternoon, beware it is popular and that booking is probably essential. This makes a perfect affordable gift for that special occasion without too much flummery.

I'd read up on the Riseley Tea Rooms before going, so thought I knew what to expect.I pre-booked for Afternoon Tea, for 2 people. Cost is now £12 per person for afternoon tea (very similar afternoon tea is £12.95 for two people in M&S Reading); I'd happily pay that for the lovely china, ambiance etc.... but the sandwiches were not very nice, we had one fruit scone and one plain, with the plain scone being overcooked and lopsided. I did notice other peoples scones were fine, so maybe mine was a one off.The thing I really didn't like was that there was no choice food wise, it was already pre-made and laid out on a tiered cake plate. The mixture of sandwich fillings was: pickled(?) cucumber, Tuna, Salmon, Egg Mayo and Ham. My friend is vegetarian, but no-one asked if what came out was ok and I personally don't like fish. Also, most of the sandwiches were on white bread (yuck).I also remember reading a review on Trip Advisor that you got a choice of cake.... we didn't. We weren't offered any cake and had to go to the kitchen area to ask for more milk and then more tea. Overall service wasn't great, they spent most of the time in the kitchen drinking tea.Sadly I really wanted to love the Tea Rooms, but I didn't. M&S afternoon tea was half the price and tasted better, in my opinion.

I had afternoon tea with a group of friends. It was lovely, good choice of sandwiches and tea served in individual tea pots. Was very enjoyable.

Freshly made food quiet and a very nice atmosphire. Lots of gifts and trinkets and the staff were very interesting to talk to. Apparently there are tables and chairs outside and you can watch the lambs.

We had a lovely lunch here. Food was delicious and service was 10/10. The staff are absolutely brilliant and really go out of their way to provide a great experience. My daughter who is usually quite fussy got through all of her lunch, they had some great kids food options! Would highly recommend

A first visit to the Hogget meeting a friend for lunch. It was a good decision as there was plenty of parking, a warm greeting when we arrived and good service throughout. There was a very good lunch menu and the Black and Bleu burger was very enjoyable.

Unfortunately Daisy’s Tea Room is closing for good on 25th May 2022 although Serendipity will continue to trade. Make the most of this quaint tea room while you can.

I’ve been coming to Tylney since 2010 for special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries etc. sadly it’s gradually gone down hill and this will possibly be my last visit. I dined at the oak room this week and when the menu was put in front of me i had no idea what to order. The menu was outdated, stuffy and very overpriced. Long gone are the days where you sat in the library, had your amuse-bouch and marvelled at what to order. Your order was taken prior to your arrival at the oak room and your wine was waiting at your table for your arrival. I ended up ordering by eliminating either incredibly boring options like soup and ludicrously expensive ones like £47 Dover sole. I had the whipped goats cheese starter and the pork main. The food tasted nice but it really was nothing special. The menu was just lacking in creativity and provenance. Back in the day you’d walk in the oak room and there was live piano, candles on the table and the silver cloche covered your food and was beautifully removed when the dish was in front of you. All these details made the extra cost worth it. When you pair it all back sadly it’s just not worth it anymore. I know places like Tylney are incredibly expensive to run so some adjustments have to be made but these are the things that made it special and kept us coming back over the years. Places like The Pig have left Tylney behind. Perhaps it’s time to rethink the French menu for something with provenance, after all Hampshire is a rich county. Back in the heyday of Tylney Hall 20-30 years ago, I appreciate that English food and wine wasn’t as well known or at the level it is at today but it would perhaps be more imaginative, creative and attract more guests if the menu was adapted to be the ‘best of British’ - including all of the wonderful food that Hampshire and neighbouring counties can offer (including the wine!). Back in the 1990s this sort of traditional French menu felt exciting but by today’s culinary standards it is bland and mediocre. On this visit we also found out that the old snooker table is gone. It broke and it was taken away, never fixed. This is incredibly sad as it was a family tradition to have a game of snooker after dinner in a room which was full of history.
