Popped in here after walking the dog and what a lovely little place this is, sitting just off the main road on the edge of a farm. Run by a very friendly and welcoming lady too. Both had a round of sandwiches each and a pot of tea.and all for £15 which we thought was very reasonable. And to top it all, it was all served on posh bone China plates, saucers and cups. Would recommend to anyone

I have been this morning with my brother and our friend. They accommodated a food intolerance I have by offering me an alternative (meringue, strawberries and cream) and by informing me next time to give warning of my visit so that they can accommodate me. I cannot wait to visit again - we'll be taking our Grandad with us. It was a really lovely atmosphere with non-imposing music in the background. Beautiful presentation for the rest of my table. We were offered more hot water for our tea pots. It was a very beautiful experience. Thank you.

My partner and I were having a bit of a drab day one Friday. Living near Bramley, we decided to venture over to Rosie's Tearoom for some afternoon tea. Located on a little farm near Heckfield Place, Rosie's is a beautiful tucked away tearoom that is comfortable, friendly and delicious. Chrissy makes the cakes and the warm scones, which are the perfect portion and absolutely gorgeous. There are local products in the tearoom for sale, and we had a taste for all of them, but only settling for a sweet little teapot and cup combo. If you are looking for a bit of escapism with some reasonably priced afternoon tea, look no further than Rosie's! We will definitely be going back in Spring to enjoy the surroundings and the scones!

We popped into this tea room for the first time after seeing it signposted from the road. Very lovely little tea room, lots to buy in there and plenty of things to look at. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We ordered a home made cake, hot choc and banana milkshake. Unfortunately the cake didn't have much flavour (personal taste of course). The banana milkshake was just nesquik, was expecting a better and thicker milkshake perhaps with actual banana. The hot choc was juat made with water, no milk. It was very average food which was a shame. This was pur personal experience. Had we had something different from the menu it may have been lovely.

It was cosy and decorated to have a really homely feel. The afternoon tea give you the option of selecting sandwiches and cakes individually which worked really well for us. Not too many places play music from the mid 20th century and it was a lovely start to walk in hearing songs that might be 1940s (or earlier). The setting is pleasant: a couple of hundred yards off the B3011, a few miles north of Hartley Wintney.I visited just because I had seen signs to the tea shop and was interested. I had a decaff coffee, served in a cafetiere with delicate china and a slice of coffee and walnut cake. The coffee was lovely; the cake very good but perhaps not quite as moist as I would like. The tea room has a lovely atmosphere and service was friendly from Pippa. Great also to avoid the noise of typical coffee machines.

The welcome wasn't warm. Perhaps the lady was having an off day.Microwaved from frozen mini quiche is not good. How did this ever reach our table? It looked like a frozen mini pizza and tasted worse. I asked about the soup. It was late lunch time but she didn't know what it was. After peering at a saucepan in the fridge she said it was mushroom. If it was leftovers from a day or two earlier, I didn't fancy it. She explained that the next option was cream cheese and lettuce soup. I checked that I hadn't misheard, but no. I was curious but enough to risk it. Such a shame as the earlier reviews are good and we came on the strength of recommendations.

My friend and I popped in here for lunch and it felt like we'd fallen into an episode of Fawlty Towers. We ordered tea at first and the milk was a little lumpy but not off just didn't look appealing. The food was awful and the service worse. We ordered the cheese and onion quiche and salad. We didn't fancy the cheese and lettuce soup. The quiche was inedible and nothing like a quiche. It was the shape of jam tart with a slice of processed cheese melted on the top. It was also microwaved from frozen which never works. The pastry becomes soft and soggy and there appeared to be no filling. The salad was mainly spinach leaves and celery!! When we queried the quality of the food Basil Fawlty would of been proud of the response. The attitude was pretty poor. We decided this wasn't for us and decided to try elsewhere. We offered to pay for the tea but were told we didn't need to. Maybe if your just wanting tea and cake you'll be fine but forget lunch.

I first found this place when on a bike ride, and it was perfectly placed for a refreshment stop. It is at Holdshott Farm, which also has a farm butchers and greengrocery. The cakes and scones are super, and the sandwiches are good and can be 'tailor made' to ones liking. The Ploughman's Lunch, especially the cheese version (ham is an alternative) was generous and good. On my last visit I was able to sit outside and watch a light aircraft performing aerobatics a short distance away and a buzzard soaring closely overhead. Very relaxing after a 20+ mile bike ride!

A lovely location and quaint little tea room. We visited recently at lunchtime, there was one lady working on her own and a steady stream of customers.I loved the crockery and pretty surroundings. Husband had bacon sandwich and I decided to have the cream tea. Lovely cuppa and we were offered more hot water as a bit of a wait for our food, but I felt the actual portion of cream tea I received to be rather small. Two little scones and tiny portions of cream/jam. I wouldn't have minded if it cost a bit less, but having recently been spoilt on holiday in Rye with an enormous and delicious cream tea for only 25p more I was disappointed, I suppose that's rural Berkshire for you! In all, pleasant but if I visited again would choose something else.

I have visited on a Friday evening with a friend. The food was great, service fast an efficient. Only downside to our dinner was the fact we have been sat in a small room with lights everywhere (spot lights, chandelier and wall lights) which was an atmosphere killer. We have enquired about dimming or turning some off, which was not possible (all on one circuit), we were not offered to be relocated into an area of the pub with less lights and more atmosphere.

I’ve been coming to Tylney since 2010 for special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries etc. sadly it’s gradually gone down hill and this will possibly be my last visit. I dined at the oak room this week and when the menu was put in front of me i had no idea what to order. The menu was outdated, stuffy and very overpriced. Long gone are the days where you sat in the library, had your amuse-bouch and marvelled at what to order. Your order was taken prior to your arrival at the oak room and your wine was waiting at your table for your arrival. I ended up ordering by eliminating either incredibly boring options like soup and ludicrously expensive ones like £47 Dover sole. I had the whipped goats cheese starter and the pork main. The food tasted nice but it really was nothing special. The menu was just lacking in creativity and provenance. Back in the day you’d walk in the oak room and there was live piano, candles on the table and the silver cloche covered your food and was beautifully removed when the dish was in front of you. All these details made the extra cost worth it. When you pair it all back sadly it’s just not worth it anymore. I know places like Tylney are incredibly expensive to run so some adjustments have to be made but these are the things that made it special and kept us coming back over the years. Places like The Pig have left Tylney behind. Perhaps it’s time to rethink the French menu for something with provenance, after all Hampshire is a rich county. Back in the heyday of Tylney Hall 20-30 years ago, I appreciate that English food and wine wasn’t as well known or at the level it is at today but it would perhaps be more imaginative, creative and attract more guests if the menu was adapted to be the ‘best of British’ - including all of the wonderful food that Hampshire and neighbouring counties can offer (including the wine!). Back in the 1990s this sort of traditional French menu felt exciting but by today’s culinary standards it is bland and mediocre. On this visit we also found out that the old snooker table is gone. It broke and it was taken away, never fixed. This is incredibly sad as it was a family tradition to have a game of snooker after dinner in a room which was full of history.
