Had our I 40th wedding anniversary at this venue it was excellent the staff were very friendly and the buffet was very good and the price we paid for the hall was excellent with highly recommend. Also it's great for Sunday lunch.

Lovely old pub, great staff and good no-nonsense food, with a "seniors" menu, but in desperate need of refurbishing. The tattered and weather-beaten bunting round the garden gives the correct, but not good, impression of the interior where the leatherette chairs are threadbare, worn out, with uncomfortable sunken seats and should have been taken to the tip 10 years ago. We couldn't get the fish and chips we wanted as the fryer was out of action.

Great local establishment. Always welcoming with a great atmosphere.

We visited The Golden Lion for a family meal today. We all had the roast cook by the amazing chef Rich the best roast dinner I have ever eaten. We had a great afternoon the atmosphere in the pub was great and made to feel very welcome by the wonderful management team Tracy, Jamie and Steve and all the bar staff. We will be up again very soon. Lovely pub, staff and amazing food I would 100% recommend a visit. Thank u team Golden Lion.

Go here if you like howling, smelly dogs on a wet day? Dogs being fed expensive human food at the table, slobbering over the chairs too? We’ve seen this before here and “complained” about it to the staff and they still do nothing. Sadly, this coffee hour today, was horrendous and yet the dog owners think it’s ok? They think they’re “entitled” and that everyone loves their dogs? They don’t. You’ve finally lost our custom for the future.

So we use Nando’s a lot between both the Fareham and Whiteley branches and on occasions we have had some small issues like late collection times and missing items etc that are annoying but usually we eventually get compensated for. The Fareham branch had been closed for a refurbishment so after reopening we thought we would try it again for collection at the end of December - big mistake. We ordered at 18.45 for collection at 19.30. I wasn’t going to arrive until 19.45 as in my experience Nando’s are always late so I added 15 minutes. Arrive at 19.45 to be told that not only was our order not ready that they had now run out of one of the items and would be accept a cheaper inferior substitute. Ok - grudgingly accepted. At 20.00 - now half an hour after our agreed collection time we were then told that another item was out of stock - so we had to accept another unwanted substitution. Clearly I wasn’t happy with this and was promised by the manager who took my details that they would send some vouchers by way of compensation the next day. 2 days later as I write this I have absolutely heard nothing in form of apology or compensation. Finally left at 20.15 with food including 2 substitutes which was 45 minutes after my food was due to be collected and an hour and half after placing my order. The whole experience was absolutely shocking and I am really disappointed with the poor level of customer service at this branch. Would not recommend

I am 76. If this is not the best pub meal I have ever had in all my years then I cannot recall which is ! Fantastic food, exceptional service and a great atmosphere. We shall return - and soon

A hotel not owned by one of the hotel corporations.Privately owned and very,very well run.Recommend the experience.

Typical spoons. Relaxed atmosphere, beer and food at reasonable Prices. Not weatherspoons any more. Beer £4, smaller beer selection, felt empty, less warm than before
