Great dog friendly pub serving good quality food for a reasonable price. They also have promotions like 2 mains for £14.99. They also have good deals/offers on alcohol with a nice selection of cocktails. The staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is good. The seating is reasonably comfortable. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, good food and great atmosphere

Two of us ate a Sunday roast, and we enjoyed it very much. Great atmosphere!

So pleased to see windows have been repaired simpertheticaly and generally looks really good and feels a lot warmer

We did breakfast with Santa here before Christmas and had a great morning. We've also eaten here a few times and it is great value and good food.

Been here quite a lot over the last two years, food generally very acceptable, not overpriced and staff friendly and helpful. The problem this time was I had macaroni cheese which was a bit lukwarm, runny and bland and not at all as good as in the past, as it didn't have a cheese topping and not grilled or baked to finish it off. When I asked I was told that the brewery had changed the recipe and it was no longer served with a grilled cheesy crust. I ask myself, could this be another daft health and safety issue as the food could be "too hot" and customers might burn themselves (if they're too stupid to realise that macaroni cheese comes out of the oven/grill in a hot dish). Just put a warning on the menu! I shall come back but I won't have macaroni cheese, which is a shame, as it would be so easy to get right.

Not great experience. Food was nice, but kitchen clearly forgot our order. One of us was vegan only to be told after over an hour that our chips had to be cooked special and would take ages. Then staff just wondered off without a resolution. Asked what was going on and told they thought they weren’t wanted. Tried to act as though it was our fault for not specifying we wanted vegan chips on a vegan meal. No offer of refund, no attempt to resolve. Left a sour taste tbh.

Lovely old pub, great staff and good no-nonsense food, with a "seniors" menu, but in desperate need of refurbishing. The tattered and weather-beaten bunting round the garden gives the correct, but not good, impression of the interior where the leatherette chairs are threadbare, worn out, with uncomfortable sunken seats and should have been taken to the tip 10 years ago. We couldn't get the fish and chips we wanted as the fryer was out of action.

Really love this place, really atmospheric, friendly staff and food facilities. We went for the kids crafting event twice, we've yet to eat here but it's definitely in the pipe line! 💯 recommend 👌. Also by the river so you can walk off your calories after it's beautiful 😍

It was our Christmas meal and we had the most amazing night. Food was lovely staff were absolutely amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone I know. Thank you for a lovely night. Atmosphere and the band was amazing.

There were 9 of us in our party and we had a lovely meal. Food was the best we have had in Gosport/Fareham. Portion sizes were great. Good tasty pub food and food value. Must be lovely in summer as it's near the estuary.

I love this pub! Great location by the water. Good atmosphere and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. I’m a mobile worker often meet my wife here for lunch (who works nearby) and then stay on to work with my laptop (and grab a delicious cake and coffee) Spot on!!

Been here a few times but just drinking. Tonight I popped in for some scran. Opted for the mixed grill with onion rings on the side and a pint of Cruzcampo. Excellent staff, great food and a very friendly pub. Looking forward to returning. Special shout out to Simon, Dean and Laura

Just returned having had a meal with some friends. What a great night! The 2 hostesses were absolutely lovely. Really helpful and with a great attitude. It's the first time that we've eaten here and will certainly be back. The 'standard' menu was really good and catered for us all. My wife said 'the best vegi meal (chilli & rice) that she's had for a long time', her words. The deserts were also really good; we were able to get a good discount (ex-servicemen/women) on top of everything. The atmosphere was really good and buzzing. Our only slight concern was the volume of the music (which increased slightly by the end) BUT it was a Saturday night and the pub was busy, so it is understandable to make the place more inviting! Finally, the 2 hostesses wouldn't accept a tip but just said 'please give us reviews!'. This I am very happy to do, please don't change, you make a great team in an old fashioned type of pub.

Spent a very pleasant evening here with friends. The food was excellent and staff harding working, polite and helpful. Their aim was to please, which is refreshing.

Visited last night to meet up with some old school friends. The atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were attentive and professional. The food was delicious and great value. Would definitely recommend a visit.

An excellent lunch menu for £8.49 or £8.99 with an alcoholic drink every day apart from Sunday from 12 to 5. Lots of history and a good atmosphere.

Very friendly with a nice warm atmosphere. A good rotating choice of beer, even some good no-alcohol options. We've also eaten there several times - the food is very good value for money with a reasonably wide choice.

Was there this afternoon had a meal with my friend for my birthday and so disappointed ☹️ had a steak pie and it was more like gravy 🥧 pie £32 for 2 meals with soft drinks 😲

I regularly visit my local but I felt that I needed to leave this 5 🌟 review! From the moment we arrived, the new bar girl Chelsea was very welcoming! When the food came out...wow! Their smashed burgers are up there with the best! Again, Chelsea was very attentive asking if the food was nice and was very chatty with myself, my wife and my brother! Chelsea even said goodbye to us when she finished her shift! A lovely evening of drinks and food and Chelsea was the cherry on the cake! She is a huge asset to the 🏰

For a typical local GreenKing pub the meal we have just had truly merits the five stars. The service was prompt and friendly. The food including a roast dinner was excellent. Especially good is the gammon steak which is always melt in the mouth juicy and tender.

I saw this pub on the internet looking for pubs in Fareham. We had not been before but glad we did. The food was very good for the price. Certainly not gourmet but homely and comfortable. This is a real pub for real people, The staff were smashing and very helpful and friendly. A bonus is that it is dog friendly. I am sure we will be back again soon. The menu is varied and a lot of the meals are lighter and more suitable for pensioners who appeared to visit in droves. Really liked it. Thank you

Went to the Castle in the Air for my sons 21st Birthday Meal with family. Laura and her team couldn't do enough for us all. Friendly welcome from the staff who kept us advised of choices / what was available and all our food came out together nice and hot! We were offered desserts but were too full up from our lovely dinners. Great choice of beers and soft drinks for all in our party . Can thoroughly recommend this little Gem of a pub where we have also been for live music on a Saturday night and our Christmas Meal get together with friends most years.

Food is phenomenal,try the Texan bbq burnt ends burger,best one yet! Staff are amazing and so so friendly,beautiful scenery out front friendly punters,make sure to be family and dog friendly before you come as that is the heart of the pub.

Laura and the team are amazing, the food is unbelievable and cooked to a high standard and I am fussy. Morgan is an exceptional team member as well as simon. That's not to put negativity on the rest as Dean, Jason, Claire etc are also amazing. The atmosphere makes you feel at home and the locals are inviting. The establishment demonstrated exceptional customer service by accommodating my autistic son's unique dining preferences. Upon placing our order, I explained his specific needs to the barman, who assured me that they would be met. Subsequently, the barman personally verified the serving instructions with us, and the chef personally checked on us after the food was delivered to ensure everything was satisfactory. Their attentiveness and care ensured that we had a relaxing dining experience and that our son was content. Will definitely travel the hours drive to eat here again. Morgan, Dean and Jason keep up the good work.

Went with friends for an evening meal. Food was good, staff friendly and efficient. typical pub menu. Only one person disappointed with her meal, but more than happy when she wasn't charged for it.

Great pub. Beer Garden/Patio which is great. Atmosphere is lovely. Staff were warm and pleasant. My food arrived quickly and my drinks even quicker. Whilst I didn't have any of my own, it seems a child friendly place

lived in the area for 50 years and only discovered this gem recently, still you know what they say, better late than never. Lovely traditional relaxing pub with friendly staff, good beer good food and whats more a car park Wow it has it all. I will most definitely be visiting much more often.

So sorry to hear Sharon has left. The place did not seem the same without her smile and top service. Food - ordered medium rare steak but it was rare. Tough and chewy not their usual standard. Service was agonisingly slow. 35 minutes since dinner finished and still no dessert. Always seems to have problems providing tea or coffee. Sorry to say unlikely to be our regular now.

Great pub and friendly bar staff!

The food was probably the worst food I’ve had for a very long time I had what they called the blue burger contains of two burgers with blue cheese, but the burgers were like dried out crispy pieces of toast absolutely awful

First time here ..not the last, made very welcome by the young lady behind the bar,beer was very good,4 different real ales, food was excellent too, nice clean friendly place.

So glad we came across this hidden treasure! Visiting Fareham with my elderly parents, we were looking for somewhere to have lunch that had accessible facilties. When i asked about the facilities, Sharon was so welcoming and reserved us a quiet table straight away. The lunch choices were good and they arrived promply and were delicious. Having a seniors menu was perfect , both in terms of portion size and price. The pub had a lovely atmosphere & all the staff were attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back!

We had a nice meal here, dad had lasagna which he enjoyed very much, except the salad which he doesn't like much . I had chicken on flatbread which was covered in tangy sauce, didn't like the flatbread much and not enough chicken with more salad mixed in. Tasty but next time I'll be going for another choice. Chips were well cooked and tasty.Lovely location next to marina, free parking for customers. Friendly service not too much going on to judge the atmosphere.

After being something of a regular haunt pre Covid, it was great to go back again. Got a really friendly reception from Sharon behind the bar who went out of her way to make us feel at home. Made us feel really welcome. The food was delicious and great value for money. We'll be going back again really soon. The Tuesday evening quiz sounds very tempting.

First time visiting and wasn’t disappointed. The staff were very friendly/helpful and welcoming as soon as we arrived. The pub had a great country vibe to it and the food was spot on. We had starters which was steaming hot and as for the mains it was probably the best meal we’ve had in a long time so compliments to the chef. Definitely couldn’t fault it for the price either and will 100% be back soon. Thanks again Ronnie.

First time at the castle in the air . We went for a meal for my birthday after being recommended that the food was good. I had Katsu curry and my husband had a mixed grill. The service was excellent and so was the food. The two ladies working behind the bar and on the floor were very busy but still had time to make you feel welcome. We will be back and recommend them.

Lovely little pub on the marina. Great choice of food and drinks, our food (vegi burgers) arrived quickly, cooked perfectly and all served with a smile by the lovely Dean. Would recommend this pub to anyone, from a quick pint whilst out for a walk or a family lunch. Thanks for a lovely meal

Booked for sunday lunch for 7 adults, food was great, service was amazing nothing was too much trouble. We all had roasts and then puddings. Will be back for the roasts again that's for sure Oh and the Guinness !
