We went to this Wetherspoons as they’d sold The Lord Arthur Lee where we usually go when in Fareham. Dim lighting, packed at 12 noon so a job to find a table. The small portion of fish and chips was just that, in fact the fish was about 1.5” wide, yes that’s right, one and a half inches. It was tasty but certainly not enough to fill us up! No room to swing a cat in the ladies’ cubicles, unless you want to wipe your clothes round the toilet 😖 we wont be going back, very disappointing!

If you frequent this lovely old pub be sure to make sure that they are not doing any renovations when you plan to visit. Don’t go here if you want a quiet and peaceful non toxic smelling environment. On a number of times that my family and I have been here they have been painting the inside inches from people eating, drilling around the bar with dust going everywhere while people are eating, painting and spraying the outside in the summer with toxic fumes entering the pub. Very unpleasant. We understand work needs to be done but how about when the business is closed.

Another good visit to the Crown. Bar staff always friendly and behind the bar serving. Food arrived and was good. All be it mine looked very plain and unattractive, veggie burger and chips, not a sign of anything green to make it look anything other than beige! But it tasted ok and, like the beer it was reasonably priced. In fact the beer prices were amazing, I was drinking shipyard pale ale and it was around £2.60 a pint. Brill. We only had a few but enjoyed a busy atmosphere and the plates were cleared away quite quickly and a good time was had.

Ordered a jacket potato for lunch which I have done in various Weatherspoons in the past numerous times. This time however the potato was tiny. As such I made a polite complaint to my waiter who said they would get the manager The manager arrived a few minutes later and I explained the situation but found her response very rude. She told me that the potato was the size it was. I said that I apologise that potatoes come in different sizes but that my potato had always been a reasonable size at Weatherspoons before and said if they knew it was small they always had the option of giving me an additional half to make up the size. She told me that the menu says one jacket potato (which it doesn't) regardless of size. She clearly wasn't going to budge and the only option she gave me was to take the potato away and give me a refund but that was no good as I needs a quick lunch and had already been waiting. There was no negotiation and just a stand offish attitude. The lady next to me also complained about her chips being cold but at least she got more hot chips brought out to her. She later complained to those on her table that the burger wasn't very nice. I heard this as the tables were so close together that we were almost sat on top of each other. Due to the small portion size and attitude of the manager I certainly won't be going to that Weatherspoons again.

After reading reviews, you always worry, but everywhere has some bad reviews. On this occasion, we were pleasantly surprised. It was an impromptu dinner out with my wife and three kids and we decided to chose this Wetherspoons pub, rather than the other one in Fareham. It was fairly quiet inside, which is good, as there isn't a massive amount of seating. We ordered our food and the food came out really quickly and all the food was piping hot. I ordered the large mixed grill and all the meat was fantastic. You normally get at least one piece of meat that is poor standard, but it wasn't. The egg was cooked to perfection and the fries were amazing. Well done to the kitchen staff. The only let down was the Ultimate Burger my son chose. It was not really too ultimate in all of our opinions, but it was ok and what you pay, including alcohol, was pretty good for a cheap dinner out. All in all, 5 meals and 4 desserts, with 5 alcoholic drinks and 2 soft drinks, came to around £80.

Have eaten twice here in the last two weeks. First a normal curry, on Thursday, the portion has shrunk and nit worth the price paid. Second day, today, Wednesday, cider and chips and a pint , charged £11.15, very small piece of fish which was overcooked, just about edible, very small amount of chips and peas . Very poor value for money. Was offered a change or money back halfway . Did not take up the offer. Too much hassle. Will not be dining in Weatherspoons again. The food was good, the bar staff very good let down unfortunately by the person on the door. When we arrived she was deep in conversation and did not acknowledge us at all. Most of the tables had reserved signs on so carefully choose one that didn't.Ordered our drinks were given menu's by bar staff, was in the middle of ordering, when the women who had not acknowledge us earlier came over and asked if they were our coats on the table.I said yes and she said you will need to move the table is reserved,I said we were not aware it was and she said we have put a cutlery box on the table that says it's reserved.I did not argue just moved my coat and found another place outside which was very pleasant. My friend however said to her that we were unaware that the table was reserved as it had no sign and perhaps in future she might put a reserved sign on it.She just said well you should have waited to be seated anyway.I found her attitude very rude the young man who brought our food seemed almost embarrassed that we were spoken to in such a way.Won't be going for food there again if she is on.The pub was empty when we turned up so what was her excuse for not coming up politely explaining the system earlier not waiting till the people actually turned up.Suggest she takes a hospitality course.

Have driven past many times and decided that we must give this place a go. Wish we hadn't bothered! The menu is quite limited and what makes it even worse is that both of us have issues with peppers - capsicum and chilli . Only one thing on the menu that I liked and didn't have some form of pepper in it. On the upside hubby had a burger that he really enjoyed but apart from that, considering that the venue is overlooking the creek with an abundance of swans, the food is a complete let-down. Won't bother going back as there are plenty of other venues in the area with more extensive menu's that don't seem to be dependent on peppers!!
