The Crown Inn in Fareham

After coming to this pub I was truly disappointed in the FOOD and STAFF. The food was practically inedible, I know Wetherspoon are not known for their food but its not hard to serve HOT food! The food is not what I am writing about though. The review is mainly about the staff. This is not aimed at all staff but some members of staff's attitude was appalling, they just seemed not to have a care in the world and the way some members of staff would to talk to customers is just strait up rude. I over heard multiple time members of staff being rude with a sarcastic tone and strait up rudeness. Not only that, when we came in there were multiple dirty tables. Maybe staff should be more worried about cleaning tables then gossiping behind the bar and being on their phones. I have been to other pubs and restaurants and it is safe to say, I will not be returning to the crown!!

I turned up with my family and ordered are breakfasts only for the staff to mess the order up only gave us 4 out of 5 breakfasts to then get the last breakfast wrong and have me waiting 30 mins extra after everyone ells had there food I will never eat in this establishment again

Ordered 3 mixed grills. Served without onion rings. Was told they didn’t have any. But wasn’t offered any alternative. Poor. Wouldn’t go again 1 Star

Even if you sit with a glass screen between you you’re not allowed to and the staff stood at the bar talking bad about us just completely rude even to the boy who sat us because he didn’t see the baby used to be a regular here but the staff need some education in manners and to not talk about customers too each other!

Staff are extremely rude and aggressive!!!! Especially James and Mitchell... extremely rude boys with a foul mouth!! Swearing at a young group of girls for no reason at all, shouted loud to try embarrass the girls and make them uncomfortable it was utterly vile. Do not recommend in the slightest, go to the lord Arthur lee instead:) Only good thing about this pub is the lovely young black haired lady supporting these girls and making sure they are okay! Men feel the need to scream at young girls are a disgrace.

We arrived and the rather prickly waitress told us to sit on any table that was free , she gave us a menu and a track a trace form to fill in , our arrival time was 2.50 , that was the last we saw of her for 25 minutes , she service three tables that came in after us and had no sense of table coordination , we finally got our drinks and food 35 minutes after our arrival , at one stage the two waitresses stood chatting to each other leaving all the work to a smartly dressed waiter who was very professional , the food was pub grub and good value .

After nearly a 3 month absence I was able to have my usual vegetarian breakfast while my car was being washed. Amazingly prices have not increased coming out of lockdown. The outside seating has increased and tables were well spaced and all the staff except one wore a mask. Was this the manager? What was particularly disappointing with this lady was that she leant over customers as she served them without wearing a mask. When I enquired why she was maskless I was told she was medically exempt - but the customers aren’t so why does she potentially want to give her customers Covid or catch it herself? Our waitress Kirstin gave excellent service and refills of drinks that were brought to our table. Excellent for food and service - terrible for the attitude of one member of staff.

Dropped in for their amazing brekkie,which didn't disappoint,but that was about it,our table hadn't been sanitised and during our time there,very little effort was made to uphold basic Covid etiquette. They have a seating area to the left of the main entrance,screens were in place,but the diners are packed in like sardines.Complimentary hot drinks are available from a self service station,its a free for all,no restrictions,no protection,its not safe.I'm sorry but we couldn't wait to get out of there.So sad

Very nice visit.Staff we fab. James one of the managers excellant service and very nice guyI watched him serve a very old couple and the patience and care he took taking the order was a treat to watch.Well done to all the team.Great work.

As before while my car is being washed I treat myself to a vegetarian breakfast. I’m disappointed that they no longer offer scrambled or poached egg but it’s unbeatable value at £3.98 with bottomless coffee. I felt the Covid arrangements were even better with the QR code for the app at the door, screens between the tables and table ordering and service. Strange you still had to go to the bar to pay. Sadly I won’t be able to visit for at least the next month.

Went to to spoons with mates. There is 4 of us and was given the smallest table so we can barely fit. Uncomfortable isn’t the words.

Interesting one...Wetherspoons have a link to the NHS Track and Trace App on their App, nice and convenient. So sat down and logged in, recorded visit and was told that by a member of staff that the electronic NHS Track and Trace is no longer acceptable and everyone has to fill in a paper form!It appears that Wetherspoons no longer accept the nationally endorsed electronic Track and Trace.

Absolutely terrible, my greeting at the door on a Saturday 5th sept, " WE HAVE NO TABLES! " no hello no smile nothing .I said to the very rude mature portly lady with dark hair , shall I wait then ? She just looked at me ..she should have suggested I am welcome to wait if I like .After waiting i was taken in and shoved a track and trace paper ordered to fill it in no pen or pencil supplied i came in with phone and keys alone. Food was poor standards I accept that as its budget food but the greeting was atrocious never again.Young blonde waitress was lovely smiling and nice perhaps she should be greeting people not the matron.

Myself and my partner eat and drink out a lot. We have visited numerous pubs in the last 7 weeks in Southampton, Fareham, Norwich and Brighton. With regards to Covid regulations this one is the worst we have experienced.We decided to have a drink outside yesterday (Thur 20th Aug). Where it's possible to sit outside we try to do so in the current climate. We ordered our drinks via the app and then I noticed that of the 10 tables outside in the no smoking area, 4 of them were smoking. I have seen it dealt with on occasion so waited but 3 separate members of staff looked the other way, including 1 who delivered drinks to a smokers table. So we headed inside.I will compare this to the Greene King safe pubs we have been to: There was no meeting and assigning of a table. There were no signs to confirm the table had been wiped down (Greene King has 1 member of staff dedicated to this job) There is no advising of customers that they cannot stand and talk to other tables. There is no one way system to speak of (1 door in, 1 door out, but that's it) We were next to a table of 10 people which is not allowed under the current guidelines. The hand sanitiser nearest the toilet was empty. Drinks were fine, food was ok, but in terms of where we will be drinking until this pandemic is passed, we know where we feel safer, and this place isn't it.

Stacey was absolutely lovely helped me out so much when I had hurt my elbow and was so so lovely when talking to all my friends is the helped out so much and recommend her as a manager xxx

After lockdown I’m back to my regular visit for breakfast while my car is being washed. I liked the one way system and social distancing marks on the floor and plastic screens around some of the tables. Unfortunately the app. didn’t seem to be working so I couldn’t order at the table but there were screens at the bar. I had my usual vegetarian breakfast but unfortunately they weren’t doing poached or scrambled egg instead of fried which wasn’t too greasy. I found it strange that when going back for coffee refills I had to have another mug - why? With the reduction of VAT the breakfast and bottomless coffee only came to £4.78 - tremendous value for money. Good to be back. Registering my visit on the Wetherspoons app was easy but the staff didn’t seem to be highlighting the need to do this if a customer did have the virus and contacts could be traced.

Surprised to see prostitutes plying their trade with young navy personnel from collingwood. If that's your'e cup of tea, so be it. Nobody seemed surprised it was carrying on. One customer spoke to staff about it and was rebuked. Advise people to stay away.

Not all pubs in Fareham have a friendly atmosphere, this one is just right. A good number of customers and friendly staff.

Had a couple of small plates before going to the cinema. Average spoons fair delivered in good time. Ale was good as in most Spoons. Honest, pub grub.

I visited this place with a group of friends. Yes we had been to other pubs, but we were far from drunk. I was my normal self, quietly fitting in to the background, when one of the bouncers asked me to leave. I requested an explanation but was refused one. As everyone in Fareham knows well, if you get kicked out of a Fareham pub, your night is over. This proved to be the case. So what appeared to be a really good night out turned into a disaster thanks to one guy deceiving he wanted to play the big man. I’ve been in this pub in the past and never really liked it, won’t be going back.

Well I was recommended the crown by the taxi driver who drive me from my hotel on the outskirts of Fareham having made the effort to visit despite passing several other pubs to get there I was alone and just going for a couple of drinks to relax after a long journey from north wales I got to the pub and as soon as I got there was challenged at the door as to how much I had drank before getting there I’d had no issues with the challenge and explained I’d had a coffee before leaving the hotel and was told it was ok to enter the pub I had 3 pints whilst in the pub and chatted to a customer who bought me one of those drinks I also chatted to one of the bar staff whils at the toilet who informed myself that the pub was open till 1 am to which I replied I’m only here for a couple as I’m driving back to wales in the morning shortly before I was going to leave I went to the bar for a coke and was told that I had been blocked from having more drinks I was shocked and told the bar staff That I couldn’t understand why and I left the pub on leaving I spoke to the doorman who had challenged myself on the way in and explained that I’d been refused a drink and was leaving he was just as surprised as myself I’m a middle aged man smartly dressed and well groomed polite and respectful had shown no signs of been drunk or abusive and was just having a quiet drink on my own the door staff were fantastic and can’t thank them enough think his name was (don) disappointed to be honest with the bar staff who clearly haven’t got a clue avoid to be honest they don’t deserve your custom

Lovely. Quick and hot food even though they were quite busy. I can’t think of anything they could do better. Polite and attentive staff and plenty of them. I’ll be back!!

I went in the crown yesterday afternoon with my partner for lunch as we had been xmas shopping we decided to have a drink with our food, my partner went up and brought 2 lots of drinks for us, he drinks faster than me, so i had both drinks left and was waiting to have them with my meal, but partner wanted another, i went to the bar where i was met with a very young, clearly inexperienced barmaid who ask me for ID now I'm 34 years old, so i dont look 24 a whole 10 years younger than i actually am! As its challenge 25, i was refused drinks went and sat down are meal had showed up at this point, whilst eating a manager turned up and proceeded to argue with me about the drinks on the table that had already been brought whilst im eating, and in front of everyone,which he then confiscated! Another barmaid told me she would of served me, so clearly this young girl on a power trip, im now thirsty as ive not had a drink with my meal had to que at the bar for a soft drink, my meal was freezing and had to be interrupted twice whilst eating, poor customer service and poor management! Having worked in a pub/hotel that is the complete opposite of how you do things! Wouldn't recommend run by a bunch of kids!

Have been here a few times and never really had cause to complain but the breakfast the other day was not nice at all. Came here early as had an appointment in town so thought would have a breakfast first, everything but the hash browns was cold or luke warm and the eggs were snotty. Did tell the guy who offered to change things but we were on a time limit so just said to leave things but he said he would let the chef know. Will be a long time before I go here again.

Extremely Poor Service, Plates plonked down on table. Steaks very dry. We did not wish to complain, but unfortunately the response from the manageress was rude and aggressive, giving the impression they simply could not care less about any complaint. Never returning! Awful experience for Wetherspoons. Will contact Wetherspoons directly. Manageress is rude. What hope is there when the management staff are rude? If you are not happy managing the establishment, maybe it is time to allow others to manage it better? THe service was very poor staff were unattentive and most of the time servingm friends at one end of the bar. The other barman served only people closest to his till. I stood for 10 minutes while all around me were served. I left in the end and went to another bar for lunch

Visited whilst on holiday in the area having been advised to try it by a worker in Tesco nearby, when we asked for somewhere for a full lunch. The service was very good as was the steak which happened to be the special of the day on that Wednesday. Prices, as always are very acceptable.

Great food terrific staff, what more could one ask for, such a terrific variety on the menu, the staff are always friendly and very helpful, keep up the good work guys.

Called in for a breakfast with my Mum whilst on a shopping trip. The first time that I have been into this pub. Small but pleasant. The staff are friendly and the service quick. All in all a good experience,the food is good too.Will return.

I had a dispute with this restaurant in March last year over cold chips and haven't had a meal there since. I regularly used this restaurant/pub, but stopped because they didn't take my complaint seriously. Last Friday, for wont of something better to do, I thought I'd try the fish n chips again. As previously. the fish was hot but everything else was cold. The waitress offered to get me some fresh chips when I complained but by then I'd nearly finished my meal so there was no point. I've been to Wetherspoon restaurants all over the country, generally without any problems.

For £3.50 for their regular breakfast I thought it was tremendous value for money with a bottomless coffee for 80p. I had scrambled egg instead of the fried and it was all delicious. Instead of having a coffee in Costa while my car is washed the Crown Inn will be a regular haunt from now on.

Had not been in here for years, now I know why, too rowdy lots of youngsters swearing, tables were filthy, service was quick and polite but that's about as good as it gets. The wife wanted eats so she had a veg lasagne I was told she had to have chips with it even though I comes with a salad, basically it was a blob of pasta on a plate with over cooked chips or the oil needs changing. Salad looked ok but wife said was bland. Overall this place in my estimation has gone way down hill in the years since I was here last. Won't be going back any time soon.

Met with friends around 6pm - busy bar and not enough bar staff behind the bar with service appearing to favour regulars which is frustrating. Food arrived very quickly and all meals very good and great value. We ended up staying the evening enjoying the selection of ales. After the early evening rush service improved at the bar and people served In rotation. Wetherspoons do what they do well and consistently provide good value, just need to staff up at peak times.

I'm not normally one for second hand review but.....

We often pop into The Crown for their breakfast, usually opting for the traditional breakfast (egg, sausage, two rashers of bacon, two hash browns, baked beans, half a tomato and a slice of toast and butter along with the refillable mug of coffee. This is a Wetherspoon pub but the food is tasty and excellent value for money.

Been in a few times since the New Year and unfortunately myself and my partner have to say that the pub isn't as clean as it used to be,the toilets are filthy not cleaned properly at all ie dried sick on walls. Dust along sides and previous mess from the night before left on the windowsill near where we were sitting. We were very upset to hear from another cleaner that your previous cleaner had to leave due to ill health she was a great asset to your company and team and no dealt is sadly missed by a lot of regulars. But the pub has definitely gone downhill since she's left.

A successful leaving meal was expected to finish with a ‘night cap’ at the Crown Inn, Fareham.

We are regular visitors at the Crown, It's a great food Pub which has really kept it's traditional Pub feel, the selection of Ales is fab and the Staff are very friendly and attentive

Caters for a mixed clientele. Beverages at very good prices, good food menu and excellent staff. However does need toilets upgraded ( probably unchanged since 1950

I am currently visiting with my sister in law and her two child one is 4 and the other is 1. My sister in law brought the children their own food. After we finished eating the staff came and told us that we cannot eat own food anymore. She has been in numerous times eating their own food and we ordered food for us adults.

Went with my family and child and had the best experience there, staff were so friendly and helpful would defiantly recommend

Saturday morning at 10am this pub was very busy, staff short on the ground, but they worked very hard to clear tables and get the food out. Breakfast consistently good here as is the coffee. Apparently it’s policy not to swap an egg for sausage (according to the Spoons up the road) but this pub will allow it which is really appreciated another reason we return. Great value you just can’t beat the selection and price. Thanks

Christmas dinner was foul......processed roll of white meat, tasteless, no roast potatoes, no roast parsnips....just wishy-washy mash potato, boiled parsnips and peas. How is that a roast ? My dessert never came. I declined to pay for it and had to argue with the lad behind the bar, as he wanted me to pay for it. Not eating at Wetherspoons again, pay more and get a decent meal somewhere else. Or go hungry!!

I had the gross misfortune to visit this dump with my company for a 'Christmas dinner' .I would not have given it to my cat! The so called turkey was an inch thick circular processed roll of something indescribable. Mashed potatoes under cooked carrots, 3 pieces of raw parsnip, about half a late of peas all swimming in something like gravy. Honestly I have never been to such an awful establishment in my life. Seriously underwhelming and rough.Should be closed dow!.Dirty, noisy attracting the scum of the earth.Would not even give it 1 star!

Pub which attracts local undesirables. Better go to Coffee#1 opposite for great coffee and pastries.

Turned up on a Saturday lunchtime as a group of 5. It was busy but there were 2 tables of four available and spare chairs at other tables. We asked (not unreasonably) whether it would be ok to put one of the spare chairs on the end of a table for 4. The middle aged waitress said "you can't block the aisles" (obviously!) So we picked a table where we wouldn't block the aisles and asked if that was ok? "You will have to ask that woman with the buggy" came the reply! At no time was there a friendly greeting or a willingness to help which surely should be the main aim when working with the public?

tonight I had Beef Shepard pie, it tasted like hospital food, and the only different was in hospital you would had more on your plate,

Went for breakfast this morning with friends arrived at 8.50 got table 35 had a coffee while waiting the las person to arrive at the man behind the bar manager I guess put a reserve sign for 10am no explanation went to order our food at 9.20 said to him dont think we should be done by 10 got told that we could move to a different table and that food would be out in ten minutes it didnt of course I dont see why I have to move we were told that this table rang 9.05am so why I do have to move tables he should of checked to see if anyone was sat at this table as we were and told its not available at this point I walk away while my friend order food and he said to her I would only get hassle from them.it turns out these people were regulars dont think will come again food took longer than 10 minutes no check back nothing and I work in this industry as well very appalling bad customer service if I was a mystery guest you would get a 0

Usually a good place but today I had to send my dinner back as i found a hair in it. Not impressed! It was replaced but there was no attempt to make me feel better or to make our eating experience better. I won't be coming back here again as I'm bitterly disappointed. The staff need some training in customer satisfaction services. This could have been a 5☆ rating. But because of the quality of the food & customer services it's not even close.

We have a breakfast every Saturday and always tell the staff that the beans need heating up from previous experience.

Excellent fish and chips. Burger came with a soft drink, great value for money. Double up on spirits. Always good service. You can't go wrong eating and drinking at a wetherspoons pub!

Tables cleaned very promptly, check back done, drinks and food swiftly arrived at our table, excellent service from the staff - at a very busy time too.

This is my first time using this app but I need to express myself and say how wonderfully clean The Crown inn is! The cleaners must go out off their way to do an amazing job for you. My partner and myself brought our grandchild in for breakfast today and I just had to comment on how fantastic and friendly you were to us thank you again to the cleaner in the blue t-shirt who took time out to speak to us hope your manager didn’t mind me speaking to you but I just had to tell her that she is doing an amazing job for you all. We will definitely come back soon.

I did not end up eating having been ignored as I tried to order food at the bar. To add insult to injury the manager directed the server who was about to serve me to serve someone else. The manger then wated as I and 3 others waited to be served again whilst chatting to a girl about things that did not seem business orientated. It is always full so the food must be good if you can get to order it.

Had lunch with family here on a Friday, there were a lot of flies in the pub, which made us move seats. The food was standard Weatherspoons, average I'd say. I would not rush back there.

I visited the crown for breakfast with my partner 11am very busy got served quickly £13.76 large english breakfast which consisted of. 2 fried eggs,2 toast,bacon ,mushroom, 2 sausages,tomato and hash browns with a orange juice x2.nice and hot very friendly staff coffee is unlimited well worth a visit

Mid morning Saturday arrived for brunch, very quick service and arrival of food. You just cannot beat the value for breakfast at a Spoons outlet. Coffee machine also super just love the coffee here and free refills.

Love coming to this pub when we take a trip from London. Always a great experience and the staff are always so pleasant. Food is yummy too! Will be back :)

Typical Wetherspoons, very localised for the cheap beer no real atmosphere, but better than the one at the other end of town.

We visit the crown often for breakfast or lunch, the quality of the food is very good and the price very fair My husband is a wheelchair user and Pauline the team leader at the crown goes beyond the call of duty when it comes to helping us, she will move tables and chairs to enable us to sit nearer to the disabled toilet, she is very polite, always looks smart and always has a cheery word, she is an absolute asset to the company and would not go in the crown if it wasn't for Pauline, please pass on our deepest thanks to her and the rest of the staff at the crown,

i would just like to say that myself and my wife are both regular visitors to The Crown and we always pop in most mornings to have breakfast or coffee sometimes with friends, after reading some off these negative comments we just want to say we have never had a problem what so I ever, All the staff and managers are lovely and go out of their way to help you even down to the cleaner. Keep up the good work.

Came here for a family meal. The girl serving behind the bar was obviously jew and didn't know what she was doing.... No issue as we all need training but she was clueless and couldn't even pull a pint. Should of had someone with her. Ordered our food. Out of the 5 drinks, they did not have 2. She then forgot to do another 2 all together and moved on to the next customer.

So basically this is my local pub and I always eat here! And I would like to say it is a fantastic pub, unfortunately tonight the bun of my burger was not toasted and my actual burger was slightly cold! But I would like to give a special mention to Sir James Chivers as I reported the issue to him and he was excellent in helping resolve the issue and went into the kitchen and cooked me the burger especially himself! Big well done to James, I will be returning with my friends and family!

Ordered my food using the android app and I was a painless process.

Popped in for lunch and it was very busy, we had 2 meals for £8.99 excellent value and tasty food. Staff always friendly and efficient, good supervisors and manager

Popped in for breakfast pior to shopping, fast service served by friendly staff good value for money hit the spot.

I nipped into this place as I was early for an appointment so as I knew Wetherspoons sold breakfast and opened quite early as my first preference the Red Lion Hotel didn't appear to be open for breakfast. I chose the normal everyday breakfast which was delivered quite quickly but that was probably because the hardened drinkers didn't go in for 8am. The bacon was a salty as a salt cellar, sausage tasteless, Tomato just flashed, beans were cold and the only good thing about it was the egg and toast. Whilst sitting in a quiet corner to read my paper in peace was subjected to one of the Managers slagging off their Area Manager and other members of staff while she ate her breakfast. A young kid was working behind the bar who was obviously new to the place as the other 2 staff just barked orders at him. Once 9am turned, the place was then turned into a what could only be described as an old English Inn of the Victoria Era with old drunken men and woman all shouting across the bar to each other. Next time Il choose a more selective if expensive venue where I can have an edible meal in peace.

What I love most about this particular Wetherspoons pub is the really friendly bar staff. Every time I've walked in and up to the bar, the staff are always smiling and just say everything with energy. Can't fault them.

Used to be a nice pub, now spoiled by the unsavory ‘locals’ who sit by the bar and hurl abuse at customers while the bar staff smirk inanely. Won’t be going back there in a hurry.

As Wetherspoons go this place is fine same food same regulars. However I find the young bar staff really friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble unlike the miserable and moody manager. Walking around snapping at her staff in front of the customers.

ABSOLUTLY LOVELY PEOPLE, cut my finger open and they saw straight to it, helped me millions. Also great drinks and lovely people, brilliant price and drinks love them all Thank you xxxx

Great value breakfast - love the new coffee machine - you just cannot beat 'Spoons for a good value breakfast.

My Wife and I often use this pub, even though it's a weatherspoons it seems to have kept it's traditional charmn and character. We always look forward to our visit to the Crown.

I have been taking my wife, my mum and her old friend for a meal every Sunday for about a year, the staff are pleasant and helpful, the only downside is that they stopped selling pear Kopparberg from last Sunday, food is good for a pub

The prices of daily deals are budget-friendly. We ate mixed grill and it was fine. The sauces are available and etxensive variable . Service is fast.

We have used this wetherspoons many times. However, this time late evening my wife was complaining of an upset stomach, and today 03/12 I have the same issues!

I eat in this pub fairly often, and drink there a lot, have got to know the staff over the last year they are excellent at what they do the team leader there is actually one of there best staff to be fair they all do an amazing job, food is top notch, the drinks are nice, the place as a whole is fairly pleasant not much trouble if there is its swiftly taken care of, a nice place to take family or even just to make friends the place is clean & tidy much better than many other places I have been to.

Considering that this restaurant has a Loo fo the Year award 2017 I was shocked at the state of the mens' loos on 31 November in the pre-lunch session.

Whenever working in Fareham have to visit here as they have the best chips. Food is basic but good choices. Slightly disappointed that obviously the panini machine was not wiped after previous cooking as I had someone else’s stuffing on my panini. Can’t complain though bearing in mind the price

Popped in today for a quick lunch. Tables clean. Staff friendly. Bar clean not sticky. Food arrived within 15 minutes. Certain menu items come with free drink so extra value. Quite small not really suitable for pushchairs. Good local atmosphere

Good beer at silly prices, while a very busy pub, we got a booth and settled in for some real ale @ £2.19 a pint, need I say more.

Having had dinners in wetherspoons all over the country. We decided that as we live in Fareham we would try the breakfast menu , what a let down, it looked good when it arrived but on eating it it was only luke warm and not digestable

This was the Best place to eat in Fareham, the food was great and the serves was outstanding and Quick, there was 10 (ten) of us and the meals all arrived one all around the same time, Three meals at a time one behind each other (which is good when there is ten of us) we all eat together without having to wait for some one to get their meal. the price for meals and Drinks was cheap. GREAT Place to Eat

We decided that a quick meal was in order after a long day. The customer service from the staff was very good with nothing being too much trouble. The food arrived promptly. None of the usual problems associated with Wetherspoons, sticky menus, uncleared tables and messy floors and a couldnt careless attitude. As a family yes we would go back.

Went in for an early breakfast, the pub has a nice atmosphere and we felt we had only just sat down and the food arrived. It was perfect we had eggs benedict. Waiter was very polite and checked everything was ok for us.Definitely worth a visit.

Had Saturday breakfast at the Crown. Good excellent food cooked whilst we waited so nice and hot. Well pleased with the service, polite and helpful. The grandchildren certainly liked the food. Will certainly be back for seconds!

went back here again saturday evening.all four of us had sirlon steaks wine & the meal was as fab as ever.the staff our very good to.bar staff very very good & shirley was very helpfull

Situated in the centre of town this Wetherspoons is well located for lunch. Hence, it was very busy even at 12 midday. Once ordered the food arrived quite quickly and was the usual value for money and standard. Staff friendly and helpful but with only two behind the bar ordering took a little longer than usual.

Consistently good ale and service in The Crown - always get a warm welcome and reasonable selection of ales (although wider choice at 'Spoons just up the road).

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this pub, it was very nice pub grub. The bar manager was rude to myself regarding a complication with one of the deals advertised. My feedback to the bar manager is...."Your people skills came across very blunt and you were unhelpful with my query" Other than this, the other Bar staff were friendly. I would return on the basis of the food being good and cheap!

Manager very rude (bar staff very rude)nothing at all on draught due to something breaking (happens a few times) manger seemed to act like he was doing us a favour the entire time. Expected at least some politeness from him. Very unaccommodating. Food was lovely though

A typical Wetherspoons. Smaller than other Wetherspoons I have visited and not so busy. Smaller selection of beers than bigger. Very quiet on Saturday night good food.

staff our real helpfull,get atmos good beer wine,fab food.a real enjoyable evening.we go to the crown for something to eat once a month,would recommend to give it a go

Popped in yesterday for lunch, it was full, but found a table within a few minutes. Chose super food pasta and a cold drink ( drink turned out to be free ) My husband had an avocado and chicken wrap, salad and a drink. Came to less than £11, wow ! I thought as it was very busy the meal would take a while, wrong , less than 8 minutes. The food was tasty and well presented, even my husband enjoyed it !Staff member came up to us within five minutes of starting our meal to ask if everything was O.K, nice touch.

Good standard as with most Wetherspoons pubs, but smaller than most so a bit cramped and hard to find seating at lunchtimes (unless you are eating, you're discouraged from using half of the pub). Good range of bottled beers but only a small bland range of draught beers - excusable because of limited space - still better than almost all of the other pubs in town. (Hint: The best pub is the other Wetherspoons)
