I used this place every week when it was a Wetherspoons. I thought I’d go back in there today as I hadn’t been in since it changed ownership. I was surprised how empty it was on a Friday afternoon as it always used to be busy. I went to the bar and stood beside the one person being served. The two other servers stood at the end of the bar and never acknowledged I was there. The bartender finished serving the customer then walked to the other two staff and went onto her phone. I thought what the hell am I invisible. Apparently I was as she started chatting with the other two. The place was empty for goodness sake how could she miss the fact that someone required serving. I’ll give this place a couple of months before it closes down again if that’s their attitude towards their customers. I won’t be going back again.

My girlfriend and I ordered twice here, we ordered pancakes both times, first time getting breakfast here and it was wonderful, the women was kind and got the order correct, making sure we were okay, but the second time a young lad did our order, I asked for the same thing but with tea, he got us one American pancake, he could have been knew and that's okay as my girlfriend and I shared the pancakes, but then I asked for another tea as it was refillable. He forgot to refill it twice. So just needed to remind him to refill it for me. I didn't want to be rude.

The food was very mediocre, one of us had to go and ask for a steak knife that eventually turned up when his steak was almost cold!

The food was cheap and cheerful. The venue was clean. Unfortunately, the only letdown was one member of staff that I came across being rude. My sugar levels were low and when I asked for help (requesting a sip of full fat coke, which I offered to pay for) She was very resistant, instead she begrudgingly poured a very small amount in a glass and aggressively plonked it on the counter, then glared at me, she made me feel like a complete burden! I would go back again but hopefully not come into contact with that particular person! ** Went back a year later was even worse, went to order food at 11.45 and told I had to wait till 12 to be able to order main meals, so I waited 15 mins and went back to bar, only to be told that the chef needed 20 mins turn over time from doing morning to afternoon food. I left and had a Greg's instead! I won't be going back there again, and I do not recommend it at all.

Breakfast sandwich advertised as bloomer bread but came out as cheap white sliced bread and something youd get at a greasy spoon. Two full English were OK but not as advertised and missing item. Drinks brought over in mugs like your in a cafe with no option to add your own milk to tea or coffee so consequently my tea was so weak. Condiments virtually empty when they brought them to the table which they said they'd get more for us but didn't. Staff were friendly enough just lacking the personal touch.

The Lord Arthur Lee used to be one of the busiest and well run pubs in Fareham. Since it has been sold to the current owner the decline is actually quite shocking. When it was a Wetherspoons there was a lot of regulars who would meet there and would have continued to eat and drink there (I was one of them). That has all gone now. I’ll list the issues I have experienced. 1, Very inexperienced staff who have never had any bar/restaurant experience. This is fine but you need an experienced manager to train them. The pub only advertised on Facebook for new staff a week before the scheduled opening date. He has opened up far too early. They should have got the basics right before opening the doors. 2. No hand dryers in the toilets. These weren’t installed till after three weeks of being opened. Surely he should have called the companies who provide them on the day he got the keys. 3. Kitchen opening hours aren’t consistent due to having one person preparing all the meals. 4. Having to wait around an hour for food when there are only a few people in there. 5. Quality of food is very poor. The menu has changed twice this month, the second menu shown on Facebook was the Castle In The Airs menu. 6. The atmosphere in there was very tense, I know there have been a number of fights which have broken out. 7. Painting and decorating not completed (Toilets mainly). This is a minor complaint however. The owner really doesn’t like constructive criticism on Facebook. Rather than acknowledge people’s concerns he just deletes their comments and blocks them. This has infuriated a number of people and made their minds up to never step foot in the building as long as he owns it. I was really hoping things would improve, however I feel it is too late now. It is some achievement to totally lose a loyal customer base in the space of a month. The pub may make a bit of money while the Euro’s are on T.V but after that they will really struggle.

This pub was reopened under new owners in May 2024, having previously been a Wetherspoons. It's gone massively downhill. They installed 10 TV screens (to show sports) and a pool table, so it now mostly attracts groups of loud obnoxious men in the evenings. I felt extremely uncomfortable and left after having one drink on all three of my visits. Some drinks deals are advertised: £1.99 for Fosters and £2.69 for Greene King IPA. There's no price list for any of the other drinks and they didn't have one when I asked at the bar. There is a food menu with some very strange prices, e.g. £9.99 for chips and two fried eggs. But you wouldn't want to eat here anyway in the evening, as the atmosphere is that of a sports bar and not somewhere to dine. Their Facebook page uses stock photos of food, that aren't even items on the actual menu.

I ordered a bowl of cheesy chips and I was given a plate of chips with 2 melted slices of burger cheese on top I had to send it back no way was I going to eat that. The young staff seemed to be a bit moody but we had no issue getting served…until: After two of us had food and returned to our friends at the bar to order a round of drinks we were asked to leave, no explanation given…so off we went. This is the only pub I've ever been refused in, if we had been noisy or caused a disturbance etc fair enough. But we weren't. Just four guys catching up. After reading other reviews on here there seems to be a recurring pattern of staff with attitude and behaviour issues at this venue. So certainly will not be returning or recommending.

I love wetherspoon, but this has to be the one most in need of a complete refurbishment and clean.

You can't go wrong at a Wetherspoons. The food was for a snack, so no waiting the service was quick and food was basic, but ticks the box.

The food was good, the bar staff very good let down unfortunately by the person on the door. When we arrived she was deep in conversation and did not acknowledge us at all. Most of the tables had reserved signs on so carefully choose one that didn't.Ordered our drinks were given menu's by bar staff, was in the middle of ordering, when the women who had not acknowledge us earlier came over and asked if they were our coats on the table.I said yes and she said you will need to move the table is reserved,I said we were not aware it was and she said we have put a cutlery box on the table that says it's reserved.I did not argue just moved my coat and found another place outside which was very pleasant. My friend however said to her that we were unaware that the table was reserved as it had no sign and perhaps in future she might put a reserved sign on it.She just said well you should have waited to be seated anyway.I found her attitude very rude the young man who brought our food seemed almost embarrassed that we were spoken to in such a way.Won't be going for food there again if she is on.The pub was empty when we turned up so what was her excuse for not coming up politely explaining the system earlier not waiting till the people actually turned up.Suggest she takes a hospitality course.

Have driven past many times and decided that we must give this place a go. Wish we hadn't bothered! The menu is quite limited and what makes it even worse is that both of us have issues with peppers - capsicum and chilli . Only one thing on the menu that I liked and didn't have some form of pepper in it. On the upside hubby had a burger that he really enjoyed but apart from that, considering that the venue is overlooking the creek with an abundance of swans, the food is a complete let-down. Won't bother going back as there are plenty of other venues in the area with more extensive menu's that don't seem to be dependent on peppers!!
