Great evening yesterday. Food from the 3 course menu was nice and good value for money. Nat the bar lady was really helpful, funny and a credit to the venue.

The beer is the best in park gate what can I say being very local to some top brass what can I say? Come and see for yourself?

Vastly improved from the period before the pandemic . Good range of meals at a sensible price - particularly the set lunchtime options - and now have some vegan choices too. Not the huge range of real ales from the distant past, but still able to buy a decent pint - especially Mondays and Thursdays at £2.99 per pint! Friendly staff, too. November update:Just had a great lunch there today, and tried the mixed grill - it was amazing! I wasn't expecting to be given so much good quality and well cooked meat! Have never had a better mixed grill anywhere!

Was a Monday evening so quiet, but clean and well done out...,just been Thursday evening busy but good service and food hot.

Love the refurbishment long overdue it looks fantastic now however I wish the food lived up to it the mains are great but they seem to fail on some of the smaller bites (not the end of the world) This won't stop me returning nor should stop anyone else. the drinks flow like we'll drinks and the atmosphere is is very inviting and warm

Came in on a Friday afternoon for the special offer on two courses (also a three course offer is available). Good value, friendly staff, and very clean toilets too. Soft drinks are a bit expensive but that is common to many public houses.

Best pub in the area when it comes to quality and value of food by a mile. Never a bad meal. Decent drinks available Not overpriced

This is the Jekyll & Hyde. Not village inn . Popped in here Saturday for some lunch. I cover 30 - 50 Hotels Restaurants pubs in my work. The food here had a Greek vibe to it. As Manager Christopher was an excellent host. Very polite & friendly. Plus good knowledge on Greek food. Excellent pub food. Highly recommended.

The pub in nice inside. The garden furniture is dirty, broken and there wasn't one parasol for shade on the really hot days.

Popped in for a pint after long trek early afternoon, great beer but spoilt by a parking fine I have just received. Never expected to pay for parking in a pub this is a first for me, very disappointed. Neither of us noticed any sign about this and nothing at the bar. I noticed I am not the only one who has had a parking fine.

Come here as family of 4 with two kids. We are regular visitors as the staff here are amazing and always make us feel very welcome. Great food and drink at very good prices. Dog friendly.

This has become our go to pub for a drink and something to eat, not only are the staff friendly, the pub is extremely clean & tidy and the food is great. It’s also made better with the embers inn app giving you rewards when you spend! Since the refurbishment in the first quarter of the year, it’s even better, Liam the manager has really made this a great pub to come too. Highly recommend!

Friday night and a busy pub, but despite that service was great. We were told that the kitchen was busy and it could be 45 minutes before we got our food, but it appeared maybe 20 minutes later, all 5 people served at the same time. And it was very good. We're not familiar with Ember Inns, so for us the menu was, refreshingly, a little different to most of the other chain pub restaurants. We will definitely visit again.

Nice place especially in the summer to sit in the garden!! Been updated recently and much better for it.

This is our local pub and attend quite often with our young children, they love all the staff and can’t wait to see matt and anya. we have never had a bad meal and just love the friendly family atmosphere

It was nice enough out in the sunshine for a mid week girlie luncheon. Quite garden in comfortable seating. We decided against the usual pub bench seating. Food was OK, not the hottest ever, but tasty and reasonable size portions for lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful. I'd go again having avoided it for circa 20yrs

Was there for some leaving drinks. They have plenty of room and a good selection of drinks. Didn't eat there but people were and the food looked and smell nice. Well worth popping in for some drinks.

Great pub, good food and service

We booked last minute on a Sunday evening. The friendly chap that answered the phone was very attentive. Considering it was late in the evening, the roast dinner was still suberb. Everything piping hot and the veg seemed to be cooked fresh. Can't wait to return.

Steaks were not cooked correctly but everything else good

Popped in for a good value meal but a couple of weeks later I was handed a £60/100 parking fine for using their carpark.

Staff are great and friendly and even when under pressure they can’t do too much for you.

Very disappointed at the amount of things on the menu that were unavailable due to a change of menu in a few weeks time!!! A few weeks time!!!! What sort of excuse is that?????

Very nice just had a refit and looking good. Still got the landlord Liam and his team of friendly staff. Good choice of drinks and food. They are dog friendly and have water bowls and treats for them. It is very popular and get can get busy at weekends so recommend booking a table.

My first visit to this Pub & was very impressed. Yes it's part of a chain but I couldn't fault it. I had sea bass fillets & they were cooked perfectly... Will definitely go there again. Highly recommend.

Went there for the first time in many years following notification of an expensive refurb. To be honest despite the passing of time and my poor to average memory I didn't notice any difference to the place. Whole experience very underwhelming

Food was great, service was good if a little slow. If you can order using the phone app be good if that could be tied in to a tab rather than have to order at the counter if we wish to run a tab

surroundings and staff were lovely. the food was not as expected. the meat on the roast do not look or taste like it had been freshly cut/cooked with a large amount of fat on the gammon. the posh fish and chips ere lovely and tasty. the mixed grill was lovely and well cooked except for the steak which was tough, bloody and inedible. previous visit for food on a Thursday evening was great hence e came again. W e would not be visiting this location again

Good food, beer and friendly staff. Loyalty program is very generous but the app could use work.

The village Inn is a great local pub, great selection of beers, and by far the most reasonable priced drinks in the area. The only gripe I now have is that the American Tipping culture has crept into the card payments. In the UK we pay a decent wage, please do not force me to have to make a guilt trip decision every time I use my card.

What more could you ask from your local pub with walking distance.

Came in with my girlfriend for a nice pub dinner and there was nothing to complain about, wonderful meal, the guys serving us were great and a decent choice of lagers. Took a little extra money back from the fruit machine as a bonus😁

Beware while ordering from the app. A 5% tip is preselected. I ordered a lot of stuff before I noticed. Who gets the tip if it’s paid to an app?

very nice established pub, closing soon for 3 weeks for a refurbishment. Just moved here, this was our first visit. The pub was busy during lunchtime and there were three staff that I saw, managing the bar and food deliveries. Our food was pretty average, maybe because they were running down freezer stock (according to a sign on the till). Chicken was rubbery and chewy. One meal was not too warm, and my wife left it. Coffee was really nice, better than many other places we have been. Hopefully after the refurbishment the food will improve.

Came in for lunch, we chose hunters' chicken and a chicken curry. We've recently moved here and were regulars at a Greene King pub before. Both meals were rather poor. The chicken in both was dry and hard, chewy. The hunters' chicken meal was semi-warm, almost cold. The curry was (delightfully) hot and very spicy (red chilli peppers). My wife left the hunters' because it was unappetising; I scoffed the curry because I'd skipped breakfast and hate wasting food. But I felt sorry for the poor chicken(s) that must have been either old & tough or badly cooked. The coffees and the beer were both excellent. But the meals were not as good as the Greene King meals we have been used to. This pub is closing soon for 2 weeks for a major refurbishment, and a notice said they were running down the kitchen stock. Perhaps our meals had been at the back of the freezer too long. The staff are all very nice and we will return after the refurbishment: hopefully the food will be better.

My husband and I came for Christmas lunch with our friend on Christmas Day. It was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere in the place was lovely. The staff were happy and helpful. It was the best Christmas Day dinner we’d ever had. Really appreciated the attention to detail. The little things, like a Christmas card on the table for us. The place was decorated beautifully. The pub is very warm and welcoming and the staff are super friendly. We were asked about allergies when we were placing our food order and due to a nut allergy on our table the staff went through the procedure with us. The drinks were lovely, lots to choose from and the food was delicious, hot and presented well. An enjoyable experience, we will definitely be back, many thanks.
