I don’t normally leave reviews but after our experience today I was very frustrated. Having visited this cafe back in July with our 4 week old Baby Boy, we decided to go back today as our last experience was pleasant and thought it would be nice to take him back…. After a 40 minute drive we arrived, walked in and noticed the tables on the right were reserved so found a table for 2 in the corner on the other side of the cafe so decided to take a seat as no one said hello etc, probably busy which is ok. Sat down for a few minutes and no one came over so my partner decided to go to one of the staff members and ask for a Menu, she didn’t open her mouth and nodded. Then another young staff member came over to our table and said you can’t sit there as it’s booked… I said there is no reserved sign on the table and said when is the person due to which she replied 15 minutes…. We are sat with our 5 month old baby and basically got asked to leave. She didn’t even say if you sit in the car for 15 minutes we will have you a table. This could have gone either way with me asking to speak with a manager but I decided not to waste my energy as they clearly didn’t want our custom. I actually felt sorry for the messenger who had to deliver the bad news and she was very nervous and felt it was unfair on her when we had spoken with the other staff member. We jumped back in the car and went to the cafe at Arighi Blanchi. Never again. Disgusting service and looking at the response by the owner, they clearly have no customer relation skills either and simply don’t care. What a response. Anyone who took their business seriously would not respond like this.

Arrived, booked, early on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated and efficiently provided with menus. Drinks came and we ordered our main meals, scampi and jerk chicken. This is where it went wrong. No more than 10 minutes later the food arrived! We both knew this was not freshly cooked food. The scampi was presented ok (but then how could you not?) but 'a large'..? Questionable. The chicken however had been piled on the plate with the chips, swimming in its sauce, and a 'rubberised' 1/2 corn on the cob. One mouthful was enough. Microwaved chicken of questionable date is not very pleasant no matter the strength of the coating. The lovely young lady serving recognised something was amiss and offered an alternative. When I said no, the other equally pleasant server lady suggested two free desserts. These were also refused. Yes, the chicken was comped, but... ... and the lady taking payment was lacking customer service skills. Shame. Could be nice, but it isn't.

Pulled over here to check directions and got yelled at by the person living upstairs about the car park being closed and they slammed the door before I could even answer. We did plan on coming for a drink on our way back through but didn't bother.

Popped in for lunch over Christmas after a walk. But no real ale or Guinness and told that we'd have to wait 40 minutes for lunch. Sorry that isn't good enough and we had a quick drink and left. To find a pub which was more accommodating, which we did.

Great food in a good location within the Peak District. The food was very nice and the service was excellent. Located close enough to Ludd’s church so it was on the way back to Manchester for us. I had the blue cheese Burger which was a huge portion and was excellent. Came with chips. Alisia had the steak pie with mash and peas which was also really good from the small bit I tasted. Slightly on the pricey side, but you pay for what you get sometimes and this is one of those times. Would recommend

My wife and l stayed here in our Motorhome for one night, we had no problems. On our second day we took a room before our journey home the room was well equipped and the bed was very clean, for the price, we would recommend this establishment. The owner was very welcoming and attentive . I noticed a previous review that gave a poor response to a stay they had all I'll say is you can't please everyone. Karen the owner for us was very friendly and helpful also understanding, our visit to the area was for a family funeral we all found her and the staff very professional considering they had all had some very sad news regarding a member of staff at this time.
