Poor attitude from waiter regarding seating. Tried to give feedback to kitchen supervisor who was defensive from start.

Arrived, booked, early on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated and efficiently provided with menus. Drinks came and we ordered our main meals, scampi and jerk chicken. This is where it went wrong. No more than 10 minutes later the food arrived! We both knew this was not freshly cooked food. The scampi was presented ok (but then how could you not?) but 'a large'..? Questionable. The chicken however had been piled on the plate with the chips, swimming in its sauce, and a 'rubberised' 1/2 corn on the cob. One mouthful was enough. Microwaved chicken of questionable date is not very pleasant no matter the strength of the coating. The lovely young lady serving recognised something was amiss and offered an alternative. When I said no, the other equally pleasant server lady suggested two free desserts. These were also refused. Yes, the chicken was comped, but... ... and the lady taking payment was lacking customer service skills. Shame. Could be nice, but it isn't.

Pulled over here to check directions and got yelled at by the person living upstairs about the car park being closed and they slammed the door before I could even answer. We did plan on coming for a drink on our way back through but didn't bother.

Popped in for lunch over Christmas after a walk. But no real ale or Guinness and told that we'd have to wait 40 minutes for lunch. Sorry that isn't good enough and we had a quick drink and left. To find a pub which was more accommodating, which we did.

Stopped in this pub during a day out in the Peak District. Didn't know what to expect but this was an extraordinarily good Sunday roast. Everything was home made. The yorkshire and roasties were like I'd make at home, the mash tasted of actual butter, the vegetables were crisp and tasty, and the beef was thick and tender. 10/10. Would be in here every week if we lived nearer.

My wife and myself were walking the Gritstone Trail and found The Ryles Arms to be perfectly placed roughly around the halfway point. So, we booked for a night and have to say, it was great. The accommodation was ideal and the bar and restaurant were really good. But, the best thing about the stay were the team - everyone was so friendly and really went above and beyond to offer a professional and friendly service. Genuinely, we couldn’t fault them. They were also really accommodating with our plant-based / vegan diet and helped so much with our evening meal and breakfast. And, even provided oat milk for our room. A little touch that nearly everywhere else seems to overlook. Thank you to everyone involved.
