Great food in a good location within the Peak District. The food was very nice and the service was excellent. Located close enough to Ludd’s church so it was on the way back to Manchester for us. I had the blue cheese Burger which was a huge portion and was excellent. Came with chips. Alisia had the steak pie with mash and peas which was also really good from the small bit I tasted. Slightly on the pricey side, but you pay for what you get sometimes and this is one of those times. Would recommend

We stayed one night at the Ryles Arms - the rooms were comfortable, warm and cosy, and the food was delicious. Most encouraging was the attentiveness of the staff, all quite young, but always polite and happy to oblige or help wherever they could. Thank you all for your consideration and making our stay most enjoyable.

I hadn't visited for a long time but was so pleased to return. Fabulous food, great beer and a lovely atmosphere. A must go to place.

We went in for lunch today, and as always everything was perfect. The food was delicious as it always is. It was lovely catching up with family, eating great food and a few drinks too. The staff truly are amazing there, in the years we've been going there, I have never come across anyone there that isn't polite, helpful or informative. It doesn't matter when you go there, it's always stunning views.

Great place, great food and service. One star knocked off for the lady shaking a charity bucket in my face half way through the meal. There is a time and a place for charitable causes, being harassed during a meal out with your family is not one them. Please consider your customer experience and reason for visiting with more detail.

Ordered nachos with vegan cheese. Food arrived and we were advised "sorry we are out of vegan cheese" so food was presented without cheese? The option to order something else would have been nice.

I had never been there up to September of this year since then I have been 3 times with my family and once with my luncheon friends my family and I are booking again for January the food is delious and the portions are worth every penny the staff were very efficient and very helpful and friendly lovely with us thank you can't wait to go again highly recommend

We stopped in for early dinner after a walk. We had the fillet steak with Stilton sauce. It was absolutely divine, cooked bleu. Very attentive service, and great atmosphere 👏

The Sunday roast never fails in the place, delicious yet again. Fantastic friendly service and how nice when you make a request on booking and it's done without a problem.

Stayed here for the first time this week and really loved it, beautiful pub and rooms with outstanding food. The breakfasts were excellent as was the room. Evening meals were also outstanding. Staff were really great, very welcoming and super to deal with.

Had a family stay over and I have been before. The service as always was exceptional. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cosy, immaculately clean and have state of the art showers. The food was OK. My steak was excellent, but my wife's pie was bought in (pieminster) and overcooked. (Hard dry crust and all the gravy had dried up inside). I don't really want to go out to eat a pie I could buy at the supermarket. They used to make their own pies and they were wonderful. Another member of our party had overcooked sea bream that was like cardboard.

I was looking for a small lunch and everywhere around seemed to be shut on a Monday! This place saved me, a few veggie options. The baked mushroom starter with cheese and garlic bread was delicious! The staff were friendly and nice view too. Would come again.

Not sure why this place is so highly rated. IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! The allergen information provided was contradictory and could have led to a dangerous situation. When we raised this concern, the manager hid behind "government protocols" rather than addressing the clear issue. Absolutely appalling experience at this restaurant. The food was not only substandard but every dish we ordered was poorly prepared, with burnt vegetables, stale pie, and a so-called "vegan" burger that was nothing more than a tasteless vegetable patty. The management's response? Arrogant, dismissive, and entirely uninterested in taking responsibility for their kitchen’s failures. Instead of offering a single apology, he had the audacity to suggest we should have interrupted an emotional meal, meant to honour a deceased loved one. I will never return, and I strongly urge others to avoid this place. The management clearly does not care about customer safety or satisfaction. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

Cod mornay...wonderful...service wonderful .. great place to eat.

Went for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Great welcome and service. Food...Liver and Bacon and Cod Mornay... delicious and great portions!! Have returned twice since, once with my inlaws and once with my wife. Food hasn't disappointed at all....in fact it has been outstanding. Has become the "go to" place to take friends and family for that special experience. Great venue, great staff and great food. Just don't tell anyone so there is always a table free for us.

Beautiful food, great vibes in a beautiful location

Good varied menu and large portions. My wife had Thai chicken skewer and I had minted lamb pie, both delicious (good to see a proper pie). We both had a sundee afterwards. Seemed that all the ladies were celebrating a birthday. Pity we do not live in the area because we would be regulars.

Loverly destination the steaks are superb. Rooms are modern.

Absolutely fantastic food, honestly the best fish and chips I have ever had! I was famished after a long hike in the area and stopped off with some of my best mates for a huge meal and a pint. The beer selection was lovely, and the fish and chips was so huge I could barely finish it even after burning nearly 2,500 calories that day! Couldn't recommend enough.

Went here for a family meal the setting was lovely unfortunately the food was not. Mushroom stroganoff was bland and contained not one mushroom. Both steak pies were overcooked and dry. Wine I felt was overpriced for a pub setting at around £30 a bottle Creme brulé was just runny custard. The stroganoff was taken off the bill but the experience was spoilt by the lack of cooking skills. Staff were pleasant but due to the food we won't be returning.

I don't know how there are so many 5 star reviews. Went for a family meal. Food was mediocre at best. Pies were overcooked, meat burnt. Fish just came with awful tasting chips. Deserts were plain, no taste. The creme brulé was just runny custard. Cheese cake was tiny amount of biscuits followed by a mousse on top! Won't be returning. Service was very good though just a shame the chef can't cook

A lovely pub in the countryside. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent. Good sized portions, very well prepared and presented. A definite recomend and one that we will be going back to

I ordered a Beef Stroganoff but was served a small portion of Peppers Stroganoff with a pile of chips, rice and garlic bread (Peppers Stroganoff wasn't actually a dish on the menu, but that's what I got). There was some beef lurking in the rather measly serving of Stroganoff sauce, but it took some finding. What was served up bore absolutely no relation to the same delicious, generous-sized dish I ordered last year. Management didn't think there was anything wrong with my meal and the two owners didn't even have the courtesy of replying to my letters about the dish fiasco. All in all, an abysmal experience. Was persuaded into a forty odd mile round trip to visit the Ryles Arms and have to say it was well worth the travel. Very warm and inviting decor coupled with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious and portion size was very generous indeed. Would highly recommend the hickory chicken skewers my daughter had, most tasty. Given the quality and quantity of the food I consider it also offers great value for money too. Will definitely be back soon.

Tried to ring to book. Answer phone message to you have to go to The web site. I couldn’t book, thought the website might be down, so drove up there. When I arrived it was closed. Why couldn’t they have just said on the phone and website? I loved going there but will now not be returning. Bad customer service

The first photo shows a meal I was served at the Ryles Arms recently. Can you identify it? Well, 2/3 of the plate is covered in carbohydrates - chips, rice, garlic bread - which doesn't give much of a clue. So what about the remainder? There are several long thin strips of something lightly coated in a sauce, accompanied by other saucy bits and pieces. How about a small Peppers Stroganoff loaded with carbs? Not a million miles away - it's actually a large Beef Stroganoff! Yes, really - a Beef Stroganoff! There were some small pieces of beef tucked away, but they took some finding. Note that there used to be two portion sizes on the menu - small and large - but I was told they now only serve the large portion. This wasn't the first time I'd ordered this dish at Ryles; I had thoroughly enjoyed it last year - so you can imagine my surprise and disappointment. A photo of last year's version, albeit three quarters consumed, is shown for comparison - notice how the garlic bread is served separately, allowing for more room for stroganoff. Given that I'd previously enjoyed meals at the Ryles before, I hesitated before writing this review. In fact, I emailed management to give them an opportunity to resolve the situation. Unfortunately they were in denial and didn't see anything wrong with the Peppers Stroganoff - sorry Beef Stroganoff (an image of management's anonymous response is attached). So I then gave the two owners an opportunity to right the situation; I sent them letters using Royal Mail Signed For 1st class and supplied my email address. The letters were received and signed for. Three weeks later I've still heard nothing from them. The long and short of my experience is that the Ryles has gone badly downhill - right to the valley floor. What's worse is that no one, not management, not even the owners, give a damn. How very sad.

We took advantage of the Stay & Dine Package. Its very good value for money. The hotel was lovely & clean. Our room was lovely, the shower was brilliant. Beds comfortable. Food was lovely. The staff were so polite & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Its situated in a lovely area with great walks.

Excellent service from friendly staff. Great menu. Pie crust and nachos meal both overdone hence 4/5. Lemon sponge from the dessert specials was really good. Would definitely visit again.

We ordered the hickory skewers and the breaded chicken burger and both meals, portion sizes were great, food tasted unreal, and service from everyone involved was perfect; staff were very welcoming, helpful and came to check up on us throughout our meal. Will definitely be returning for meals in the future when we’re back in town! :)

We went for a meal for our daughter's birthday. The service was excellent, the food was great, with excellent portions. We had a dog with us and he was made most welcome.

What is not to love about this place. The food is just absolutely beautiful. Been in quite a bit as handy location. Make sure you go in hungry or else ask for a doggy bag!! Went in tonight late in 7.45pm and had the LOVELY Aneshia (hope spelt right) serving us. She was just fantastic, lovely and very attentive. Had the chicken skewers and desserts. Left undoing our jeans buttons. Will be back very soon as again exceeded expectations

Great pub set in great countryside. There is a good choice of meals and all the meals we have had have been excellent with excellent service.

We popped in for an impromptu lunch on Bank Holiday Monday, and it certainly did not disappoint! The food, service, and atmosphere was all amazing. I can definitely recommend the Ryles Arms for couples, friends, families and work colleagues alike. 5 stars from us!

4 of us went to the Ryles Arms for a meal and it was really enjoyable. The food is hot and freshly made and cooked to your liking and staff were very exceptional and very polite and you get what you pay for. Compared to other places I have eaten out this place is top of the list for me!

Great service and food. We stayed in the suite which was gorgeous, nice quality furnishings, good size and a lovely bathroom with large heated towel rails. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was lovely the next day. You definatley get what you pay for!

Went for food before our walk in the forest. The food and service was so good that we came back again a week later. The food is amazing quality and decent portions, plus it's really tasty. We love this place and will be back much more!

Travel an hour to eat here, everything is always fab food and service. Only negative, 3 vegetarians in our party that don't like mushrooms, every veggie option is 🍄 based. They had to choose a few side dishes, thus won't go back if they are inc in the party.

Excellent stay here , we were walking the Gritstone trail and stayed over here for 1 night , the room was very clean and modern , the evening meal was excellent but the full English breakfast was even better, plenty of choice for gluten free including a draught beer , but what made this place special was the staff , they are so friendly and helpful it was a joy to stay , thank you all for a lovely stay

Visited at the weekend with family, our first time here. Everything was amazing 10/10. Food was delicious, some of the best you will find in Macclesfield. Super friendly service, lovely atmosphere and views outside. We will be back in the future 100%

Great food, good service, a couple of items were missing from the menu that we wanted to order but otherwise fantastic.

We came for the dine and stay and our whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Everybody was so friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. Dinner was soooooo delicious. I had the prawn and crayfish cocktail, steak and the Oreo ice cream sundae. My partner had whitebait, steak and chocolate fudge cake. Portions were generous and the standard of food was extremely high. We stayed in room 6 and particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. We had a good night's sleep and then had a generous full English before we left. Won't need to eat for a week now! Thank you to everyone for making my wife's 40th so special.

We attended for an evening meal which was absolutely beautiful no wait for our table has we had booked in which is advisable. They do a deal for dine and stay reasonably priced at £190 per couple. Food was out of this world. Service was completed with a professional standard. Both food and drinks are reasonably priced. We have been here numerous amounts of times for food and this will not be our last visit with plenty more to come in the future. There is a large car park to accommodate all diners and pub participants small sitting area to the front of the pub for an outdoor drink great job completed by the team at the ryles arms once again

Came with friends on the dine and stay and it far exceeded expectations. Food was excellent: hearty portions, very good quality and lots of choice. Accommodation also excellent: very comfortable, clean, and lovely and warm. The main thing that earns The Ryles Arms an 'outstanding' review is the staff. What a fantastic team. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. We are thoroughly looking forward to a return stay next year!

A lovely overnight stay, room lovely food delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. There are some great walks straight from the hotel front door.

Booked for Sunday lunch in the countryside. A very good lunch menu with additional specials. Every meal seen had very positive comments and our slow roast beef was wonderful and of generous size. Local real ales complemented the meal in a clean and tasteful environment in lovely countryside.

Stunning pub food and excellent service

We went for a birthday celebration and came out feeling disappointed. Restaurant was busy and had a decent atmosphere however the menu didn't have a great selection. The service was very good but the coffee shouldn't really be served at the same time as the puddings. We couldn't help but feel that we were on a conveyor belt for tables, booked in for 6.30 and out for 7.45 isn't really long enough so unfortunately I don't think we will be visiting again 😕

Meal and stayed the night. Excellent food and service amazingly friendly waiting on staff. Watch out for the low beams in the bed rooms. Room was very comfortable. Just had a few issues getting onto some of the TV apps.

I have eaten here a couple of times recently with my partner and family. On both occasions I received a warm welcome from staff who were very professional and friendly/attentive. The decor and ambiance was excellent and fits well with the rustic pub feel, with a modern twist. I had the rump steak and it was cooked to perfection and very tender. The chips were very obviously home cooked and fresh. My family had the fish and chips and steaks also were very impressed with the quality of the food and value for money. The portion sizes are very generous too. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but equally you can tell you are getting the quality you pay for consistently and for that reason it's worth every penny. In all fairness you could pay more in some high end restaurants and it wouldn't be noticeably better than here. Excellent and we'll definitely be coming back soon.
