We stayed one night in the hotel. The room was larger than expected, clean and comfortable with large king sized bed and bathroom with and shower along with kettle and coffee machine with pods. We stayed in an internal room up a lot of stairs so not easily accessible for those with limited mobility but they did however have ground floor pet friendly rooms externally that have been converted from the old stables of this historic building that is located on cobbled Street Lane in the centre of knutsford. We were out late at a wedding and the pub was closed when we came back but found our room key gained us access to the door at the rear near the car park so no concerns there. The staff were friendly and the breakfast we had was included in the price and was good. Over all a pleasant stay, the only downside was the loud banging at 6am with the delivery of beer barrels but this is a pub after all and to be expected.

We had fantastic dinners on Monday Sept 4th. Some pubs not serving food on Monday night, so very happy to find a place. Portions were the perfect size and the prices reasonable. Young girl was working the bar/floor on her own but was very pleasant, professional and did everything with a smile. A pity the floors were so sticky I had to clean my shoes when I got home!

Avoid like the plague. Arrived at The Cross Keys having paid for a reservation on hotels.com, was told on arrival I needed to pay £82 again (despite having proof of my already paid booking) and £10 early check in fee (extra £10 was fine with me), they just said ‘we don’t deal with hotels.com you can’t have your room unless you pay again’. Hotels.com contacted them twice to refund me and they refused. Disgusting service and money grabbing. If you don't deal with hotels.com then why advertise your property with them? Your guests should not be penalised when something goes wrong, you should liaise with hotels.com to sort it out! Not only that, was told there would be free parking. Arrived and asked where I could park the car and was told ‘we don’t have anywhere as road is closed off due to a market’. I asked for advice on where I could leave our vehicle and I was just told I’d need to drive around and find a pay and display. There was no parking around so we ended up having to drive to the wedding venue we were going to and leave our car there and use taxis back and forth instead. Never met such a rude accommodation desk employee in my entire life. Should not work in the hospitality business. Completely ruined our trip and caused us nothing but stress from start to finish.

We had a complimentary room for free because of a previous bad visit back in August 2020. Because of covid lockdown we had to move it from Feb 21 to May 21. Then from May 21 to this August. What we didn't know until arrival was that the hotel manager had taken it over and the hotel/restaurant has changed brands (I think pub chains) however they still honoured our booking which I think was super because in theory they didn't need to do this. Not only were we upgraded to a super king room... as our previous visit was a double room... but we were also given a bottle of complimentary prosecco. Amazing! All staff super friendly and approachable. We had lunch here as well, a Burger and the footlong nachos. So good and reasonable priced. The room was beautiful so spacious and clean. Bedsheets smelt amazing 👏 Our room number 10 overlooked the D13 bar terrace who had a singer on 2-5.30pm which if that ever changed to an evening would be an issue as he was that loud it was like he was in the room with us 🤣 hopefully that never does change! All in all a fab visit had by two stressed parents of 4 children who definitely needed this overnighter after 5 week summer holiday with the children haha! Thank you so much 💓

Went here today first for a drink as the wine is excellent value, but then decided to dine on their meal deal. I had fish and chips and the partner had pie and chips, yes typical pub food but excellent. We liked the way the food was served with the plates being placed on a serving table from which you collect, it’s next to you but prevents the server from getting too close Overall very good would certainly recommend

It wasn't my idea but here we were again and not for long.Again clip(s) were turned round and just 2 available ales. I plumped for the Doom Bar as it's always a good standby. The Doom was fine. My friend wanted to try the other beer despite not enjoying it last time. He got a half just in case and it was clearly not right, we all agreed. The young barman had a taste, didn't make an expression either way and told my friend he couldn't replace it as there was no manager around?! He ended up getting a bottle of lager - really poor show.We soon moved on, there's plenty of competition in Knutty and we'll be starting somewhere else next time.

Me and a friend decided that it would be a great idea to walk around the lake at Tatton Park. Luckily we went on the windiest day of the year (idiots) so by the time we'd finished I think we both where desperate for some food.We walked around Knutsford and past this delightful pub, the menu looked good from the outside so we ventured inside. We was greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to a table. The fire was on and instantly I felt the warmth returning to my face.We where both on dry January so lime and lemonade and a J2O was the order of the day. I also ordered a rump steak, duck egg and fries. What a really great pub lunch, I'm looking forward to going back again for a few pints in February

Met friends here last night and really disappointed. This used to be our place and although we'd been to other pubs in town, we were back here for a catch up.3 beers on the bar, one clip was turned round so 2 available. I had the Doom Bar and it was off, the barman could smell it was off so swapped it for a lager, no problem. We then asked for 2 pints of the remaining ale, cloudy so barman pulled a load through the pipe and then served 2 pints. My friends got half way through and gave up.Atmosphere was OK but we moved on shortly afterwards.

Big bathroom.Good WiFi...free of course.Had a few beers in bar and the young barman let me sample a few of the IPA’s before ordering which was cool.Laguanitas was decent.Food menu looked ok (pub grub) but we ate elsewhere.Bar seemed fairly quiet.I had to leave before breakfast at 7:30 which was a shame.Price ok for Knutsford which is quite expensive!

As I live in Knutsford and King Street is the epicentre of the town - everything here from an Indian Curry to and Italian all within 100 meters from each other. My mates and I always pick the Cross keys Pub as a great place to watch the rugby at. The place gets full of eager sports fans and enjoy a beer or two during the game. Nice friendly staff and the bar food is good. Cant go wrong in picking the Cross keys for the game or to start the evening off. We stayed here for one night and to be honest I am pleased it was only for one night. Whilst the bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was in very poor condition. I would not go into the bathroom without shoes on as the Lino was so worn and dirty. There were hairs in the bath and on the toilet and black mould around the bath. My husband and I popped in for lunch a couple of weeks back, once we decided what we wanted he went to the bar, the lady who was working was on the phoned at the time taking what seemed to be a personal call, she looked at my husband then to what turned out to be the manager only for him to say it's ok he can wait. 10 mins later we finally got our drinks. Then I went to use the toilet, big mistake. The toilet seat was broke the walls could certainly do with plastering and decorating. They were awful to say the least. Booked into this hotel to stay whilst attending 'Monster Truck show' nearby. Tickets for this were a xmas present for my husband last year. Thought we'd stay 2 nights b&b; for long weekend. Very convoluted way through pub to accommodation which was outside at the back, through an outer door then into our room. On surface all seemed clean if a little shabby around the furniture and bathroom tiles. All four taps in bathroom, sink & bath had hot water coming out of them and was so hot as to scald: no warning signs( as required) of this. Menu for evening meal was basic so ordered soup and roll: not available. Worst of all was the bed. The mattress seemed to have collapsed in on itself, was noisy and seemed to be made of straw or hay. Upon inspection it was filthy and stained and had no mattress cover on under bottom sheet. No sleep was had! There was a green light in the ceiling? Next morning was informed that due to shortage of staff(accident) there was no breakfast but we were offered a bacon sandwich and coffee!! After a long day at show came back to find our key did not fit outside door so had to go looking for staff through convoluted route to bar at front. Final straw for my husband so brought bar manager to room to test out the bed and express our complete disatisfaction with whole visit. As always the staff are very apologetic about shortcomings but are ineffective in correcting them as they are not the budget holders for these shabby rooms and staff shortages/poor food choices. They do their best but these complaints need to go further up to the hotel group which owns this hotel. We were offered a complete refund on the spot and we left immediately, not staying for 2nd night.

The Cross Keys in Knutsford is a truly awful place to stay. Arriving in the car park on Friday afternoon we entered through the hotel’s rear entrance to find an unattended reception desk. We had to access the front of the hotel to find bar staff who handed over a key in return for payment for the room. We returned to the car park to our room, not in a stable block as described, but in a brick outbuilding. In the room we found a vinyl chesterfield the covering of which was torn and the foam filling oozing out. The dressing table was missing a whole corner which had obviously broken off at some time. The bed, bedding and towels appeared clean but closer inspection of what lay underneath was avoided. The bathroom was a very unpleasant experience. Cream vinyl floor covering next to the bath and sink was black, presumably mould. An anti slip mat suctioned to the wall behind the bath with dubious stains and grouting around the bath and shower door looked unpleasant and needed replacing. It was raining heavily the following morning but there was no covered walkway and no umbrellas provided to reach the hotel. Breakfast was served in the bar. No cereal or juices available, tea and coffee served in a cup, no refill. Eggs Benedict was lukewarm and covered in a huge amount of heavy cheeselike sauce and breakfast sausages and bacon were undercooked. We couldn’t wait to leave.

The Cross Keys is situated on King Street in Knutsford on the outside it ls stunning. The bar area is clean and plenty of seating. Unfortunately the rooms are ry poor and let down the place. The room was accessed via 3 flights of stairs not very friendly for disable access. The room itself was very basic the mattresses felt like you were sleeping on a concrete slab. The bathroom has been renewed but to a very poor standard. The toilet seat which was wooden was cracked, tiles missing around the bath panel , bins had not been emptied but worse of all a dirty shower mat stuck on to the tiles. Tea and coffee provided and packs of biscuits in the room. The only positive I can say that the full English breakfast was to a good standard with tea and coffee included, which is included in the price. Visited with my friend, was greeted by the friendly bar staff Kara and Laurence. They provide a range of cocktails on their new cocktail menu and great customer service with a very friendly and homely atmosphere - I would recommend the Passion Fruit Martini!

The refurbishment has been well done but the bar staff gave me a larger shanty when I had asked for bitter shanty then tried to tell me that the lager was a bitter. The food was disappointing.

Just popped in for a hot drink and sat under the archway which is a novelty. People were sat around watching a match but even that was done quietly. We enjoyed being able to hear ourselves talk. Don't know if this would be the case at weekend cos we called in on a week night

Tea in big pot plenty for a couple of ups each My Hubble had the fry up with beans in an individual pot, all was eaten quickly & were enjoyed, my toast and jam was nice & hot & nicely toasted. I have visited the Cross Keys a few times since it has been refurbished and I have to say that I really like the decor, atmosphere and staff and this is now my pub of choice in the town. I was looking forward to trying the food menu however unfortunately I have to say that the Sunday roast let it down (overcooked beef and frozen vegetables), which is a real shame. I hope they look to improve the quality the ingredients as there is a gap in Knutsford for decent 'pub grub', and I would like to give it another chance.

We visited today for a spot of lunch, this was our first visit to the cross keys and we weren't disappointed. We visit the area regularly and will definitely be going back. There was a great atmosphere inside and the interior was a mix of new and old, large well lit area at the front with smaller cosier seating areas to the rear. Plenty of choice at the bar with five or six real ales on tap also. The menu had plenty of choices to suit all palates and the food was very well cooked using good quality ingredients. I can recommend the Aberdeen Angus burgers and the ciabatta garlic bread was awesome. The staff were very polite and engaging and really made us feel welcome. See you again soon.

Popped into Knutsfprd on Boxing Day with two young kids, for some fresh air. Not a lot was open but the Cross Keys pub was. In my 20s (20 years ago) I visited this pub regularly, but it has changed a lot since then. Gone is the vaults/snug idea, the pool table and seemingly the atmosphere. The pub has gone for a cleaner, more sleek design and a different clientele. It looks good, but like many of the 'old' pub crawl venues, it is not what it used to be.We ordered lunch, however the friendly, chatty manager promised us that ordering 10 minutes before they were stopping food service was not an issue. The chef, it seemed, had other ideas. The food was ordinary, warm rather than hot and the kids portions were far too big for them to eat and their drinks did not arrive before the food had.A shame.

This was the worst meal I have had in a long long time! We had booked a table but when we arrived it didnt seem as though we were expected. We were taken right to the back of the pub next to the kitchen and the breakfast stuff for the following morning and given a table which wasnt set. At this point we noticed the walls were glistening with water - obviously a damp problem. We werent given menus until the waitress eventually came to take our order and we pointed that fact out. A catalogue of disasters followed - there was a mix up with our starters resulting in two of our party receiving theirs fifteen minutes after everyone else. We ordered wine which we had to chase up and then when it eventually came, it was just plonked on the table, not poured for us. Quality of starters were OK but probably out of the freezer. Mains arrived and were terrible - not one of us finished our meal. Sirloin steak was so thin and overcooked, rendered inedible; rump steak ordered rare but arrived medium/well done; seriously rubbery chicken ; mussels which were chewy and appeared to have stood under a lamp for a while..... Our plates were removed without comment and that was the last we saw of the waiting staff. We sat and sat, then eventually saw the chefs turn off the light in the kitchen and leave! No dessert, not even the bill. This place should stick to being just a pub - they obviously arent geared up for food. Will not be returning.

Room was very clean and quite spacious. Staff very friendly, great choice of ales and a super breakfast. You also have the use of a car park which is situated opposite the hotel which is very convenient.

Who needs 24hrs rolling news over lunch? Nice beer - friendly staff. Menu is tempting - but the fish and chips and the scampi would be better described as batter and chips with a hint of the sea. Nice sandwiches though - maybe better to stick with those.

The pub has just had a revamp - it looks lovely with it's new doors and it was very busy. We ate there - I had the ham, egg and chips which was good and my partner had the fish and chips and was happy - he said that the Tatton ale was good too.Why am I sorry? I am sorry because I have no alternative but to give it a 'terrible' rating and that makes me sad. I've never given a 'terrible' rating before. The reason? My partner was in the loo when the chef came in, wearing his whites - he did whatever he needed to do - he walked out - he did not wash his hands. I have felt sick ever since. Food hygiene is something I feel very strongly about - we have to be able to trust those who feed us.

Thought I'd call in a have a look at the refurbishment of what was previously a spit and sawdust establishment. They have refurbished to make a one bar operation. It is now bright and airy with modern furniture and décor. The bar are is clean and bright with a good selection of ales and beers. The rest rooms have also been upgraded but lack thought. Unless you are very thin trying to manoeuvre into the gents cubicle is problematic. There are no disable facilities yet they have added a baby changing room, which on proper configuration could have accommodated a disabled facility as well. So definitely not disabled friendly.Food was good and well presented although on the pricey side. £15 for two sandwiches? But I suppose the refurbishment has to be paid for.It was a busy service and lack of staff added to the feeling of not being in control with customers complaining about the wait and being advised of at least a 30 minute wait for food. The renovation was long overdue and it is nice but I have labelled this as disappointing as it is not disabled friendly and has no facilities for the disabled preferring to cater for children with a baby changing room.Score 6/10

Booked with friends for a later Saturday afternoon lunch as we wanted to see the new renovation and menu. It took over 20 mins for the girl behind the bar to serve our 5 drinks and she asked us over 3 times to repeat the order. She had no warmth or smile and it seemed like such an effort for her to serve our drinks. We continued to our table and put her rudeness down to her being so young. The pub was half full yet the wait for food was over an hour long. We chose our food and waited over 15 minutes at the bar to order and gave up in the end. There were other customers trying to pay and almost walked out as they just couldn't get any ones attention. The place looks great but the service is so bad that I wont be back. Thankfully, we left and had an amazing lunch at The Old Sessions House instead.

Strangers in Knutsford on a foggy Monday where to go for lunch? On the advice of a localwe went to the Cross Quays recently refurbished and serving a new menu. Good choice. Mussels in an exquisite sauce with garlic bread, a burger that was actually beef with haloumi, salsa and fat chips x2 to die for. I never have the bun so I can't pass judgement on that but they appeared to be going down well with other diners!A glass of Shiraz and a soft drink and the total bill was less than £24 so absolutely no complaints there. According to the staff we were kept waiting a long time for our food and consequently were given extra drinks a gesture which was unnecessary but most welcome. The staff welcomed us and made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would be happy to return.

First time playing here, and I didn't realise winter tees were in use. Grounds keeper shouted at me, which wasn't great imprrssion on the first tee. Fairways weren't in great condition, a lot were boggy, greens didn't seem well kept and overall wasn't really that impressed.
