We stayed here as it was nicely located for our trip to Scotland and was listed as dog friendly. The staff were so welcoming from start to finish and dog friendly is the biggest understatement ever! The room was well furnished and very comfortable and was a great start to our holiday. The food however was the real highlight and was backed up by great staff. They were very knowledgeable and were able to answer all questions about the dishes and their contents. All 3 courses were very well presented and the portion size perfect. The gravy is the most unbelievable gravy I have tasted. The staff will know who wrote this review as I wouldn't shut up about how nice it was! The fellow diners were very friendly and they all looked like they were enjoying the food as well. A massive thank you to all at The Dog for a great stay and for making us, along with our Border Collie, feel so welcome. A massive thank you to the chef for the gravy though!

First of all the shining star of this pub is the amazing staff, couldn’t do enough to make sure everything was perfect. Which it was. Sunday lunch is to die for, lots of fresh veg and meat cooked to perfection. Make sure you leave room for a pudding, the apple crumble cannot be missed! Thank you for fitting us in with no notice. The pub atmosphere is warm and welcoming drinks and food are reasonably priced. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely Sunday brunch/lunch at Plumleys Garden Centre. Very cosy on a wet & windy Sunday. The Sunday lunch was too tempting and I’m very pleased I chose it. Plenty of it and the beef which was shredded was very well cooked. I needed more gravy by the end! My wife had the mushrooms and poached egg on toast which she also enjoyed.

Always a favourite venue. The food was really enjoyable as usual. However, although the service was good, there was overuse of the phrase "no worries" from the waitress! No lactose free milk alternative available so went elsewhere for coffee and cake where our needs were met.

We were an extended family group, meeting at the Golden Pheasant for a family lunch. We had all travelled some distance, Bristol, Derby, London, Rugby, Manchester and Wilmslow, What we needed was exactly what was provided: a very well-cooked lunch, in a warm, clean and comfortable environment, with quick, kind and thoughtful service. The outside playground was perfect for the small children in the party. We stayed quite a long time as we were a large group to cater for, and lunch was quite drawn out, but although it was a busy Sunday, at no point were we ever made to feel uncomfortable about being there. This was important because of the distance travelled. We were looked after by Ellen, who was extremely attentive. The occasion was an anniversary of a deceased loved family member, so it was important that the day went well, and the Golden Pheasant looked after us with faultless understated comfort and informality. It was a very good memory.
