Dun Cow in Cheshire East

Not a gastropub as listed, expect standard pub atmosphere, food & service and you won’t be disappointed. Had to return my curry due to the rice being hard as nails, replacement dish came quickly, but no apologies. Lots of microwave pings coming from the kitchen. Lovely location but left feeling very underwhelmed.

Had a walk in of 5 on a busy saturday, (our own fault) but still was seated promptly, and food came quick, portion sizes are big and great, service excellent, down to earth and lovely will be back

Love this place, had my birthday here and the staff were so lovely and ALL our group loved their food. I had the chicken tikka which was lovely and my friends really enjoyed the cheese and onion pie, steak and ale pie etc 😋 Thank you Curtis and Tracy.

Visited the dun cow today in Knustford one of the best steak burgers I ever had in a while very tasty and delicious highly recommend this place

Rather tired these days. The menu needs a refresh as does the seating. Very mediocre and poor value for your money.

Gorgeous meal. When I first looked at the menu I thought it might be expensive but after eating the food it was worth every single penny. Amazing cheese and onion pie and my husband had the risotto which was fantastic. The athmosphere was great and service was friendly and fabulous. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon to try all the other brilliantly presented food I saw being delivered to other tables!!

We visited the Dun Cow without a booking and the gentleman who greeted us was more than accommodating, making us feel very welcome indeed. The pub had a lovely atmosphere, warm and friendly. I was delighted to see that I could have a roast beef dinner (on a Thursday!) and the menu was really good and there was a lot of choice. Parking was brilliant, no trouble finding a space at all. Would definitely recommend not only for couples but families too! A real warm, friendly and accommodating place, we will definitely be returning! Thank you.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival and thereafter service was excellent. Varied menu that includes many pub favourites plus a separate specials menu. Competitively priced for the location and the venue. The venue is tastefully decorated in a style that is sympathetic to the age of the building and is comfortable. Plenty of parking. Meals were served piping hot and well presented. Vegetables were cooked to perfection and there was a generous variety included with my chicken main (my 5 a day). Portion sizes were generous too. Extra gravy was provided, again piping hot. Overall an excellent experience. An individual pub that is not part of a chain with good homemade food Highly recommend for that reason.

A fabulous traditional country pub. Food was wonderful. Home cooked. Plenty of different vegetables served on our melt in the mouth steak and ale pie. I will definitely be eating there again. Excellent.

Friendly staff and well kept beer but I felt the menu prices were quite overpriced and food was mediocre. I had the burger which contained a few nasty pieces of gristle and the fries were just about warm , sadly disappointed.

Second visit, this time on a Saturday night. Popular place with great atmosphere. Good variety of food available. 4th visit for a Sunday afternoon family party. Best roast beef dinner ever said my wife. Very friendly staff.

Dined here at the start of 2025 - absolutely delicious seasonal menu, lovely service. Make sure you dine here before their chef gets poached by a much more expensive restaurant, they're immensely talented. It is a pub that welcomes families, so dine later if you find loud children an irritant.

Came here for a Sunday roast and catch up with a friend. Food lovely and staff v friendly . Atmosphere jolly but very busy and very loud people ! Maybe the ladies toilet could do with a bit of a refresh ?

The food was outstanding. We didn't need to pre-order for Christmas Day meal. We had around 5 or 6 choices for Starter Main and Dessert. All looks amazing. The food was hot and delicious. The staff worked so hard and attentive to our needs. We even got a bottle of wine to take home for free! We will return again.

A lovely late lunch after visiting Tatton Park Christmas event. Hadn't booked but every effort was made to fit us in. So glad they did, awesome meal, absolutely loved it - the Cranberry & lentil bake with festive vegetables 😋 was amazing. X

Saturday Dinner with friends, with a warm greeting and excellent service throughout. I chose the ' seasonal ' Turkey delicious, roast potatoes superb, piping hot. Friend had the ' burger ' which came out tops. We could not manage dessert !!! A good bottle of Pino Grigio.

There's a reason we keep returning. The fish and chips and seafood pasta are highly recommended. Staff are also highly attentive and will do most dishes as a smaller portion of you ask.

Had a lovely meal here after visiting Tatton Park with my wife and son. We all enjoyed our meals, which was of a high standard. The Steak and Ale pie melted in the mouth it was that tender and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I would recommend and will be visiting again.

Came in for an early dinner, the place was quiet and getting a table was no problem, around 18:30. I had the steak pie with chips and veg. The pie was very good and the chips and veg were fresh. Great service from the staff.

We called in here on our way to Jodrell Bank on a Sunday teatime. What a gem of a pub. Very busy but food and service was excellent.

Was disappointed with the few mushrooms in the stroganoff ,did mention to the landlord but apparently the mushrooms are portioned out !! ( really!) shame as been a regular!

We often meet for lunch at The Dun Cow, there is a good choice of menu and we have always enjoyed the food there very much. Service is good and staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a large car park on site.

We came here after an afternoon at Seven Sisters Farm, super kind and friendly staff, we sat outside in the lovely patio area. Enjoyed the chicken burger and the kids fish fingers meal was huge! Lovely meal and surroundings, thank you!

We had a 'Pub Stop Over' in our motorhome coming home from the Twinwood Festival. The staff are wonderful and the food amazing. We were feeling sad that our weekend was over but the welcome, food and ambience of The Dun Cow made us feel that we were still in the holiday vibe.

The Dun Cow offers an amazing menu every day of the week, catering for all. We love to go out for Sunday lunch but so often you can only get a Sunday Dinner, which we don't want. The Dun Cow serves an excellent selection of sandwiches, served with a delicious side salad and chips. They do serve wonderful roast dinners as well, if that's what you like. The staff are always so welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The roaring fires in winter make it warm and welcoming, whilst the lovely outside seating area is great for sunny days. We'll be back.

First time here. Was met by a friendly guy who i assume is the manager who found us a nice table. It’s a Beautifully decorated pub, modern but with an old world charm. The Service was spot on with at least 3 waitresses and the manager all very friendly, attentive and helpful. I had Lamb Henry and the wife a huge fish with chips. The food was really tasty and the best pub grub I've had for some time. I also had several ales which were excellent. We Will definitely return, can’t fault it. 5/5

We didn't have any food this time, just called in for a drink on our way home to Blackpool. It's a lovely place inside, and all the Staff were very smart and efficient. We will definitely be back for a meal with you. Thank you

It's the responsibility of the restaurant to provide a service if they accept a booking, sadly very poor service and disappointing food for our family gathering and blamed on a busy local event. Yes they gave us a discount but we would have preferred the dinner and service

Went to a 90th birthday party and managed to sit outside until 7pm. The buffet was excellent, and the landlord and staff really looked after us. A very pleasant early doors.

We stopped here on the way back after a wasted trip up North to buy a bike, as an alternative to motorway services. Very dog friendly, both the landlady and landlord came over, fussed our dog and chatted with us. Well trained staff and the food and drink were excellent. Don’t often head that way but would be happy to use again in the future. Thanks :)

Lovely setting just a few miles outside Knutsford. We're to big eaters so I ordered a starter for a main and my wife small fit and chips. I had chicken wings which I felt overdone.I thought they were good value but only ate half and asked to take home what I left..They came wrapped in foil, not big deal but I probably expected a small container as in other places.My Wife thought the chips were overcooked, but I thought they were great. Driven passed its to times and its easy to park with lots of outdoor space for warm weather. Not sure well return.

I have eaten here before with my colleagues and service and food were excellent. Today I had a lovely meal with my husband service and food were excellent we had good portion sizes and it was well worth the money.

Visited this place on Sunday with my son having booked at the last minute. Arrived a bit early but was given a table immediately. Came to take drinks order as soon as we sat down. Starter arrived quickly followed by Sunday roast mains, lamb and beef. All the food we ordered was excellent, hot and fresh. Very impressed and not sure why I haven't been to this place before when it is fairly local. Definitely be going again and would highly recommend.

Old country pub on a sharp bend in the road, close to Knutsford. It';s a Robinsons pub so you might like their beer you might not (Hopnik is about the best IMO), but the food is the real draw here. My steak pie was proper (as in, not a dish of casserole with a lid), loads of lovely tender & tasty meat, good chips and particularly good veg cooked properly (as in, not much). One of the best pub meals I've had in a while.
