First time playing here, and I didn't realise winter tees were in use. Grounds keeper shouted at me, which wasn't great imprrssion on the first tee. Fairways weren't in great condition, a lot were boggy, greens didn't seem well kept and overall wasn't really that impressed.

We found Bar 918 on a recommendation on a Facebook group so decided to try it for Sunday dinner. Beautiful decor, unfortunately it was dark so couldn’t see the outdoor space. It did slightly feel like we were gatecrashing a party when we walked in but the staff were friendly and the food…. Lovely 👌🏻 The Sunday lunch was nice, kids meal decent portion… but the best of all, the loaded chips!! Gorgeous chips covered in peppercorn sauce, cheese and strips of beef, it was incredible! Just gutted we dont live closer to visit more often. Would be a lovely venue for a party!

Absolutely abysmal course. It's a shame because the course itself could be great, but it's completely neglected and what care it does receive a 5 year old could do better. They've clearly never heard of a leaf rake or a lawn mower. Shockingly cared for course

Tried Malkins Bank golf course in October because they had buggies available when there was none nearer home. £20 to play on a weekday and £25 for the buggy. Nice course. Straight forward for the most part but there are a couple of tricky holes that would definitely be easier with a bit of prior knowledge! I'm looking forward to going back.

Played at Malkins Bank yesterday as a guest. A really disappointed experience, the course is not well maintained at all. The greens are terrible and fairways are in poor condition. My understanding is this is due to the course being played on throughout the winter when other courses were rightly closed. Compared to other courses in the area, this falls way short of expectations. Certainly needs investment in order to get this to the level needed.

£13 a round??? Didn’t know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Course has a bit charm about it and is really pretty, occasionally challenging but needs investment. Green and fairways are fine, tee boxes and bunkers need some attention though. There’s one hole that has a huge GUR across the fairway which is a shame. However, I really enjoyed my day. The members and staff are really friendly. The layout of the course is stunning. There’s a bit of History with Ian Woosnam which the course and clubhouse are very proud of. This course isn’t far from being an amazing little place to play.

Booked 2 pods for an over night stay in the area. Hadn't had a lot of time to research so took a punt and booked 2 pods. Soooo glad I did. We loved them. Located on the edge of the course. A row of 6 pods with own little outside seating patio. The Pods were clean with comfy beds and nice white bedlinen. Although slightly weathered and doors a bit stiff my over all love of the pod forgave this minor quirks. Got fish and chips from the nearby village and sat outside enjoying a beautiful peaceful evening. Just what was needed. The shower was fine and with a fridge and tea making facilities, Bacon rolls bought from the clubhouse in the morning all made for a great outdoor breakfast. Loved it!

We eventually gave up because every hole we were waiting 15 mins to tee off. Tee times were way too close together so poor management. Course itself is very big and testing so in the summer would be good . Definitely avoid in winter months!!!! Nearly every holes is boggy and fairway & greens covered in leaves so it's a struggle find your ball. Overall 4/10

I stayed 1 night here and overall was happy with the experience. That said I was disappointed on arrival at just after 7pm the clubhouse had already closed and there was no food or drink facilities available. This led to a short drive into town where I picked up a fish supper which I ate at the little patio table outside my pod. The TV and WiFi connection worked fine and so I was able to amuse myself until time for bed. The owners do need to pick up a bit on maintenance. The pod didn’t feel especially clean and the bathroom was particularly grubby and needs a good going over with some strong bleach. There were also some lights not working and were actually missing bulbs so it should have been an obvious fix. The bed was comfy enough although the headboard had fallen off however overall I slept well. It is very isolated. I think there were only a couple of pods being used the night I was there and for some it may feel a little lonely. It comes complete with a fridge, microwave, heater and fan so next time I’d be better prepared in the event the clubhouse is closed.

I played this on a glorious Friday. It's a lot tougher than it used to be. The fifth is a card wrecker and as usual did me again. The rest of the course is easy. Basically flat. Greens could do with some work as always here. I'd of thought Woozie would have sorted this. Some big changes to add some holes to stop big hitters o we running the course. Took advantage of the overnight deal that was/is on offer last week 29th/30th August, for £65 (and not for the first time we have done this) ,staying overnight in the Swedish style wooden pods (think there are 4 or 5 pods with each accommodating 2 golfers ) one gets 2 rounds of golf ,3 course evening meal (any items on the menu- burger to sirloin steak!!) And full English breakfast with coffee or tea the following morning ..what a bargain deal !! The pods have twin or a double bed , t.v ,small fridge plus shower(with towels) and toilet facilities situated just alongside the 18th fairway where one can observe other golfers approach to the 18th green and maybe reflect on ones own 18th mistake/mistakes ha ha ha while enjoying ones own beer or a glass of wine before your evening meal in the clubhouse. The course itself is in good condition and at times is a real toughie , with lightning greens ,and real value for money !! If there are guys n girls out there looking for a short golfing trip ,I can't recomend highly enough the venue and the value for money deal ...its a no brainer !! Having played in the veterans league , I was looking forward to what I remembered being a very nice course for our Senior Captains away day. Alas not so. Fairways very bare in numerous places and uncut, tees similar and the greens it looked that the holes had been cut with a knife and not changed for days. To say that there had been a seniors competition and there was a visiting society no effort was made to present the course in a good manner. We had a package which included coffee, bacon bap and a two course meal . This also was not up to much. Although The day was enjoyable I will not return .

Stayed in the pods on site, great for 2 people it a bit cramped with a 3rd in there. Food and drink in the clubhouse probably as good value as you can find anywhere. I played in a group of four, after being recommended from Newcastle golf club. its a busy course, there was a que on the first tee, weather the leave enough tee time between groups I'm not sure, it wasnt an issue until the 14th tee when a member of staff asked what time we started and rudely said that we need to keep up with play and that we should have been finished by then even tho there was people waiting to tee off each hole so, I'm not sure what they were expecting, telling the wrong group! The fairways and the greens are spot on in fact the greens r some of the best I've seen. The rough isnt rough its just overgrown and looks a mess in areas but playing at woodside and Wolstanton im spoilt.

I’ve played Malkins for nearly ten years now, I’m not a member. However, all I can say is this course has improved immeasurably over the time I have been playing. Everything about this club should attract people to play here. It’s well set up yet good scoring for golfers that aren’t playing off a low handicap. It’s fantastically well priced and Andy in the halfway house is a great bloke. Unfortunately at the minute the course has been scorched and people are complaining, and to those people I would say that most courses are like that now. To someone who plays like I do, so long as you stay straight then the course will look after you. The greens are in good nick and that’s all you need. I’ll be back there many times again in the coming months.

My self and 3 friends visited this course back in November 2017, the weather was shocking and the course was drenched, but it was a lovely course and the staff were fantastic. This made us want to come again and play during better conditions, however with better weather comes more business and unfortunately more attention is paid to members and regulars whilst paying guest are left unattended, I called the course before our trip and boomed a breakfast for 10:30 - 11:00am we arrived at 10:40 and nothing was prepared or set out for us, the evening meals menu consisted of two choices, luckily non of us are veggie or the choice would have been zero. On the second morning again was busy with members and competitions and our table again was not set out. Play was stop and start all day due to the sheer volume of people crammed on to the course. On the third and final morning we sat down at our table which this time was set out at 9 am however by 9:35 we still had not been served and had to leave hungry as our tee time was 10am and we had to vacate our pods before we started. Generally a lovely course but with a certain lack of attention to paying guests, my advice would be to not bother with this one during busy periods.

The pod looks great, has everything you need... apart from drinking water. Dog friendly which was great for us. Quiet and lovely view of course. It was absolutely freezing though! We had an oil heater on for the whole 2 nights/3 days and it was still cold. The two indoor rugs were sodden with water when we arrived... from where it came I have no clue. Put them outside. The bathroom stank of urine, like a public toilet, with cobwebs in corners and on lights. The extractor fan was smothered in dust. The twin beds connected as a double and it was comfy. WiFi great. As for breakfast, the staff have no idea what vegan means. Offered us full breakfasts twice, even after being advised we were vegan before arrival. No milk alternatives so had to supply our own. No decaffeinated tea on offer so again supplied our own. No discount was given for any of this even though we only had cereal and dry toast with a spoonful of beans or jam plus hot water for tea and black coffee. Options were very limited in choice of cereal. If you don't like nutty cereals you're going to be let down.

Terrific improvements made to the course over the past couple of years. Gareth Woosnam and his team have set the course up that appeals to good golfers and high handicappers alike. The club house offers fantastic prices on food and drink. All the staff make you feel most welcome.

Course vastly improved compared with a few years ago Ground staff have done immense work to create an interesting and often challenging course. Ground condition is still excellent which is surprising at this time of year.

Played today through tee times very impressed with the course especially the back 9. Greens good for the time of year. Pace of play was not too bad, starter on the first, and halfway house before the 10th tee with hot food and drinks reasonably priced. We will be back, keep up the great work.

Myself and 8 more society members played this weekend just gone. I cannot commend the Malkins Bank staff highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble for them and an absolute bargain was had on buggies. The course itself is fairly short, but has a good level of challenge due to tight fairways (plenty of trees). It was in immaculate condition (although I could of done without all the off fairway leaves hiding my ball, Autumn, pah) and the greens ran very true. The pie we had in the clubhouse afterward was excellent, clearly homemade and deliciously full of meat. Happy hour 3-5 might not suit all, but it was beautifully timed for our round and fully enjoyed. Would heartily recommend.

Great traditional pub - open fires, good beer, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff, you can't ask for more!

Disappointed with the food considering the cost of it. Looked at the menu in advance, however the prices online didn't match the bill. Won't be returning.

Nicest Sunday Lunch we’ve had for ages. Perfectly seasoned, lamb was gorgeous, potatoes were amazing, gravy was soooo yummy. Fab service and athmosphere too. Highly recommend x
