Lovely Sunday brunch/lunch at Plumleys Garden Centre. Very cosy on a wet & windy Sunday. The Sunday lunch was too tempting and I’m very pleased I chose it. Plenty of it and the beef which was shredded was very well cooked. I needed more gravy by the end! My wife had the mushrooms and poached egg on toast which she also enjoyed.

Food was homemade and delicious. I had cheese and broccoli quiche with salad and it was very tasty. The homemade cakes are out of this world. Between 3 of us we had a rocky road, lemon cake and a viennese biscuit. The portions were generous and they were gorgeous. The service was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back

Very over priced "savoury cream tea), which consisted of a small scone and small tea pot, at £8. The scone was very undercooked inside, so returned it to a staff member. A refund was not offered. When I returned to ask for a refund, I was only offered £3.50 for the under cooked scone. £4.50 for a little tea pot!? The staff member then proceeded to tell me, no one else has ever complained, they serve these scones daily; the chef has checked it and it's not under cooked, implying it was just my taste. Really rude staff member, poor quality experience, won't be returning.

Not just the Cafe but the whole garden centre is wonderful. Great staff, very welcoming, fantastic atmosphere - way, way better than the usual run of the mill, garden centre chains. Here you can find Knowledgeable staff, unique and beautiful items for the home and garden. The cafe is amazing, great food, made fresh, not batched up waiting to be heated. They pay attention to each individual customer, treating them with respect and care. It is so relaxing here, no rush, no nasty people queueing up, feels very homely. I cannot fault the food, organisation, how hard working and processional everybody is, making customers their priority. Wonderful - an oasis of calm.

I have regularly visited and enjoyed Plumley’s since it was called The Plantation, so a long time. The staff have come and gone and it has been a shame to see some of them go. There has been a continual, slow decline as the experienced staff have left, which is a real shame. I came last week and ordered coffees and cake for my friends and a coffee and toasted tea cake for myself. I was told there would be a long wait for the tea cake, so I said ok and asked for my coffee to be brought with the tea cake, as I wanted to enjoy both together. I was met with a very shirty, “Well there will be a very long wait then!” I told the young lady to forget the tea cake. This is one example of several interactions that haven’t been great recently. I hope things improve and feedback is taken on in the way it is intended. As I’ve said, I have been a regular visitor , often weekly, for many years, when I meet a group of friends. This is not an isolated incident and makes you feel that customers don’t really matter. This was once never the case. I hope things improve as it would be a shame to have to find another meeting place when we have always liked it here.

For a garden centre, this cafe isn’t bad. The woodburner is a welcomed benefit to the setting although the seating area at the back is a little clinical. The cakes are really good - we really enjoyed the flapjacks especially. The waitresses were happy for us to have free refills of hot water for our teapot, which was appreciated. I’ve seen the reviews on the savoury and would agree that it’s pricey for what you get and the quality isn’t outstanding but then, our expectations were not all that high. Don’t go expecting Gordon Ramsay. We would be back. If you’ve been to Lambing Shed, think much better customer service, worse savoury food, similar cake.

Took 1 hour to bring our order of 3 lunches having being told 1 of our selected meals was not available after 20 minutes (despite being checked for availability when we ordered). When the food eventually came the Mountain Burger I ordered was so tough on the edges it could not be cut and was less than 1 cm thick. The burger itself was far inferior to a McDonalds burger - draw your own opinion on this! The change in order meant I was due a refund of £3 which took a further 10 minutes to collect because the staff had to get the permission of the owner to process a refund. At this point I was extremely annoyed which I made clear to the staff, the majority of whom were school kids (including in the kitchen). The food is not cheap at Plumleys and is a place you should avoid.

We've been visiting Plumleys cafe for some time, morning coffee, lunch etc. Sadly, over time the cafe has deteriorated. Smaller portions, and decline in the products being served means we won't be returning. I appreciate times are hard, but today's Welsh Rarebit was dreadful. Even the waitress looked embarrassed when she placed it in front of me. Tasteless goo (and a very small portion of goo at that, one small slice of burned toast and a few green leaves for £9.00, don't provide any sort of value for money.

I called here today with my small grandchild for lunch. Ordered child’s cheese sandwich, baked potato with cheese &beans and a tea. The child’s sandwich was meant to come with tomato & cucumber garnish. When it arrived it was just 1 slice of thick white bread which was only fit for the ducks as it was hard & stale, no butter and grated cheese with no garnish. It was a good job I ordered a potato for myself as I had to give this to my granddaughter. Very poor quality and will not be visiting again.

I visited the cafe at Plumley Garden Centre today, with a friend. We both ordered Welsh Rarebit. Although the service was excellent and the food delicious, the portions were tiny to say the least. I paid £9.00 for one small slice of toast, one mushroom and a small side salad. I would have expected at least two slices of toast and a portion of mushrooms (plural) for that price. I know costs have risen, but we won't be coming back after this experience.

Both my husband and I ordered the Welsh Rarebit, 1 with bacon and the other with mushrooms at £8.50 each. For this price we received 1 slice of bread each, my husband received 1 x slice of bacon, and mine had 1 mushroom on it. It was advertised as having a side salad, this was minimal with a few pieces of chopped pepper, and a bit of lettuce. To say we were disappointed (and hungry afterward) was an understatement. I don't normally complain online and have written to Plumley's direct but have not received a reply. Unfortunately, we did not take a photograph to share. On a positive note, the Rarebit sauce was very tasty.

I have been to Plumley's with my parents a few times, it's a really lovely spot and the cafe is great (with a good vegan selection on the menu). We visited yesterday but unfortunately we were a little late for breakfast and the menu had changed. As I'm vegan but also gluten intolerant I wasn't able to order from the lunch menu, so the waitress very kindly checked and I was able to order the fruit and nut bowl. The chef was really lovely and came over to ask if I'd like something else instead. She went out of her way to put together a vegan mini-breakfast for me which was so delicious. I really appreciated the thought and effort the staff went to as I'm used to places not being very accommodating! Thank you again - we will be back soon, of course :)

Lovely little garden centre, we are local and regular and want to support this gorgeous business However, we have been in cafe today, the table was pre booked. We ordered a full early lunch, we had just ordered a second drink, half way through this drink the girl (who I think seems to be in charge) came up to us and said the next people are here for this table, you only had it until 12.30 and walked off. I called her back to tell her we didnt know, and nothing had been said re times and that she had made us feel very uncomfortable (it was 12.35). Nothing was said at the time of booking, and nothing was said as we sat down today re times, she then went on to say well its two hours normally and one and a half hours as its Bank Holiday weekend. She totally missed my point re advising you at the time of booking and that while they have all these rules, it's no good if the customer doesn't get pre-advised..... she apologised, but VERY VERY indignantly, and was very off with us, we left our drinks and feel really really upset with this business. They have cards on the table saying when its reserved to and from, and our reservation card was on top of the next one, which she shuffled as we spoke, as if we should have seen that underneath.. Attitude dreadful and VERY VERY unprofessional, and we feel very aggrievedl.

Myself and partner had a lovely meal today and the covid measures in place are tip top.We both had a sandwich, drink and cake although being busy all the food and drinks arrived in a timely manner, no complaints. My biggest complaint today was a particular woman who her self a customer she sat with her 2 parents and daughter and if you read this i really hope you take a look in the mirror and have a think and if 10% of your attitude rubs of on your daughter then good luck.Firstly they have a clear measure on the policies which are listed everywhere and on the tables.. however this woman, loudly and abnoxiously starts shouting at one of the waiting staff because he asked if she could put a plate on his tray... "NO THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE PAID FOR" the lad then tries to explain to measures and she goes off on one like she is a saint or needs to have him crawl at her feet and kiss them.Listen here KAREN these people are working themselves silly so you can have some freedom during these troubling times. Have some respect for others and be a decent human you absolute cretin. Also wear a mask when you leave your table, dont allow your daughter to wonder off and also you are your parents both left in seperate cars and drove off in different directions so thanks for being a a massive part of the problem affecting everyone. All in all food was lovely, the staff friendly and chatty and did a great job. Remember to respect those around you but also appreciate times are different and difficult so repect those businesses decisions.Well done to the lad waiter and the lady who stayed calm.. if it was me id have accidently poured ketchup on her.

The person who was supposed greet us did not and neither did the person we spoke to very nicely to ask if we could move tables as the one we were placed at next to the open doors was getting increasingly cold.We were ordered to put our face masks on before we left the welcome? station. On asking if we could move tables we were told in a very loud and aggressive voice that NO we could not as it would take 5 minutes to re sanitise the table. There were vacant tables and no queue! My daughter and her husband visit Plumleys regularly but I do not and I won’t be visiting again unless their greeter is retrained. I am in my 70s and do not appreciate being told and ordered. I had the flatbread with lamb and fries, I couldn’t cut the flatbread and asked for a serrated knife but still couldn’t cut it so just ate the contents and bit of salad garnish, my friend had the spinach and mushroom quiche which was very disappointing both in size and quality considering the price. It was the consistency of an egg custard and had no taste whatsoever. She was left hungry. We chose a visit Plumleys for a Sunday afternoon drive out, to visit the garden centre gift shops and and to have lunch.Plumleys is a small family owned garden centre with shops and a cafe. Sunday lunch: We chose the lamb Sunday roast dinner with tea and coffee. Very impressed with the standard of food and drink, served by great staff and reasonably priced.Garden Centre: Kevin (who I think is the garden centre manager?) was absolutely brilliant and spent some time educating my wife and I on plants that would attract bees and butterflies in our garden. A really nice bloke and a real asset to the business. The labelling of the plants in terms of colour and function is probably the best I have seen at any garden centre.Shop: Some lovely items to browse and buy for the garden and home. A lovely small vintage shop with a good selection of unique bespoke home made items and run by two lovely women. We purchased a vintage hall mirror and coat rack that was very well priced. All in all a great place to visit and we will definitely return.

Unfortunately no cutlery was provided (ie a knife) and the beautifully presented stacking dish was overloaded with sweet things rather than a good balance with savoury. I just happened to be passing the garden centre and noticed they had a cafe, so being in need of food and refreshments I decided to give it a go.

We chanced upon Plumleys Plantation Garden Centre on a drive around Cheshire in search of a light lunch and a cuppa. So glad we did discover it.

El otro día metimos en comprar algunos de los mejores suelos y plantas. El personal es servicial y amable con plantas maduras listas para plantar. No utilice realmente la cafetería, pero sin duda lo haré en otra ocasión, como tenía muy buena pinta.

I would agree with another recent reviewer: for what you get the 'Colonial café' is overpriced, and when we visited they didn't get the basics right as far as the food was concerned. We ordered a basic meal that most people would expect to have 3 ingredients: here we only received 2 of the 3. We ordered coffee but were served some sort of hot water with the vaguest hint of a coffee essence. (On a nearby table I saw another customer having to return their beans on toast, the toast having been burnt).I need to add that contrary to other factors, the service was pleasant and quick.Overall though I wouldn't recommend this place.

Good food selection nicely presented and good value. Has been revamped since last visit and larger eating area. Nice toilets and well behaved dogs welcome inside the lounge coffee area whilst the original restaurant is dog free. Had a nice light bit snack and the main s and cakes looked very good.Another place to put on our regular list

We called in at the Plantation for coffee. The restaurant has been greatly extended over the years. It tends to be rather cold mainly because of the stone flooring. We were fortunate enough to sit near one of the many wood burning fires, otherwise the restaurant would not have been warm enough for us. We like to take our coats off whilst inside but unless we had been near the fires we would have needed to keep our coats on. We enjoyed the coffee and tray bake. Pleasant Staff and efficient service.

We called in for a late breakfast and weren't disappointed. Great food and coffee, good service and a lovely welcoming log fire. Well worth a trip! Going for lunch next time.

This is a garden centre and a cafe/coffee shop with a lovely wood burning stove and our fourth visit for lunch, we can recommend the soup, sandwiches and cake! There is also a lovely gift shop. The garden centre is beautifully presented and well attended, there is a fabulous selection of plants, some can be a little pricey. The staff in the cafe and the garden centre are extremely friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking and clean well maintained loos.

Only just found this great place.its easy to find just off the Chester rd.Cozy is the best word for the restaurant. A good selection of meals are served by the capable staff. The cakes are really lovely .Also the snacks. But what makes this all so different is the fact that there are wood burning stoves u can sit near.this makes for real coziness. There is ample parking.and families get a real welcomeAll in all can be recommended.

Just love going here for breakfast, the mushrooms are real juicy, tasty field mushrooms, they grill the tomatoes until they are cooked properly not as in some places where its like a salad tomato, the sausage are really tasty and a good cup of coffee. In the summer its lovely to sit outside they even have cabanas but now as its going a bit chilly its lovely to be inside and the log burners to keep you warm. Its dog friendly too with treats for our little mutts, not tried lunch yet but won't be long!

The cafe itself is pleasant but we felt the food was distinctly average and overpriced compared to other garden centres in the area. Two haddock fishcakes served with a garnish of leaves obviously plonked on out of a bag....we didn't have cakes but I noticed they looked nice but seemed over priced.

In leafy white middle class Cheshire there lies a little oasis known as The Plantation Garden Centre with its Colonial Cafe! We find ourselves oddly in the 21st century. Many a white lady and gentleman finds a safe haven here away from that multicultural malarkey! Aside from a ghastly concept the cafe manager is an extremely unpleasant woman, abusive to both staff and customers. Fits in most comfortably with the overall concept.

My friends & I meet at Plantation Garden Centre every couple of months, for something yummy to eat, a chat/gossip & a garden top up of pretty plants. On our most recent visit, we decided to try Afternoon Tea. It was perfect. Perfect sandwiches, perfect cake, perfect scones & a lovely, relaxing atmosphere.

This was our first visit with friends who recommended the Plantation for lunch. It is a pleasant garden centre with an inviting cafe. The setting is open, light and, as the title says, set out in plantation style. The food was tasty. My Welsh Rarebit filled my plate and was nicely garnished, the fish cakes and pasta dishes went down well too. We are told there are large open fires in winter to make the room even cosier. The adjacent gift shop and garden centre have a good selection of goods and plants and we spent quite a while after lunch checking out the hanging baskets and plants and, of course, purchasing! Although not in our area, we would definitely visit again.

Called in for a coffee on the way back from Macclesfield. Where we had already had lunch. The place itself is very nice with a colonial style and much bigger than my last visit. Good service pleasant staff and the food on offer looked very nice with adequate portions being served to the busy tables. The prices are slightly higher than l would have expected but it is somewhat off the beaten track!I award a Level 3 award on this occasion and will review when l actually dine in the cafe.Michael R Beddard (author)

Customer service must be unheard of at the overly priced cafe at Plantation. A simply request of hot chocolate was soon dismissed with a simple reply of 'we have none'. Furthermore, a second request of a latte is then meet with the roll of the eyes from several staff. This is due to the fact the coffee machine was just "cleaned" earlier. Considering the fact the cafe wasn't due to close for another hour it wasn't despicable of me to ask for a latte. When a member of staff started to moodily slam the coffee cup on the top I then decided to go for a cold drink because I had clearly annoyed the cafe staff with my simple request of a cup of coffee from a cafe. Due to my switch in order the staff were confused on how to work the till and were fussing over the fact I had indeed changed my order (which was made to suit them, not me)! Though out the rest of my time in this cafe I was meet with daggers from the staff in an attempt to hurry me up. I will not be returning and will be missing my £2.45 that was spend on a warm lemonade!

Food has got expensive, on the website states paninis £7.75, when the actual price in the cafe is over £10. We had 2 paninis and a pot of tea, the bill came to over £27. We use the cafe on a regular basis, but will be giving it a miss from now.

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!
