This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!

Visited here yesterday with our 4 year old. Read some good things about it and as our local play area has stupid 2 hour time slots we decided to try here. Its great for toddlers but i felt our 4 year old was a tiny bit too old for it but we still had a good time. Its very clean and hand sanitizer is everywhere which is great. Bad points it needs sign posting better as we drove straight past it. Cafe was very expensive and very limited, we were hoping for chips and fish fingers ect but it was just sandwhiches and thirdly it was absolutly freezing in there and had to keep our thick coats on the whole time. Lots of people were on about it. So my tips are wrap up warm, take lots of money for the cafe and take a change of clothes for kids as my daughter got soaked playing in the water. So would i go back? Probably not.

Really impressed with this place. Visited this morning. It’s got so many activities! The staff are really friendly too. Took my 14 month old and there was lots of play for her and I can see many other play sections for when she gets older too. Sand pits, climbing areas, varieties of slices, baby areas, soft play, dinosaurs, fish tanks, lots of places to sit & eat. Variety of food on offer. The place looks great and is designed really well. Indoor and covered outdoor area. Amazing value for money. Full pizzas for £5. Entry cheap for how much play there is. Very clean and staff are really great. Highly recommend.

No complaints whatsoever, nice hot coffee, smiley attentive staff and fantastic facilities. I didn't really know what I was coming to as there is limited pictures online etc but the play area is really well thought out and quite different from the normal soft play centres, offering sand and water play which is something over not seen before. My 9 year old wasn't amused for very long as it seems it's more for under 6's but my 2 year old didn't want to leave. Finding a soft play centre that isn't freezing cold for us parents is bonus. Coffee was lovely and hot- if I'm going to sit and watch the kids play for 2 hours I want to be warm and enjoying hot caffeine and it's something many centers overlook. There are some poor reviews regarding the staff and I can honestly say every staff member I came in to contact with was helpful, welcoming and had a smile on their face. People treat you how you treat them so it works both ways. As I say, no complaints and we'll be back again very soon.

I absolutely love this play area for my children, but sadly I won't be returning due the atrocious attitude of the staff and the seeming disregard to covid compliance. The place is just as busy as before if not busier! There isn't even enough tables for the amount of people that are being let in so social distancing is extremely difficult. The staff were very rude to us and in fact reduced me to tears with their foul attitude towards me upon arrival (for no reason at all might I add!). When it came to purchase food they were no better. I was extremely overcharged and items were missing from my order. They continued to be rude and dismissive in dealing with their mistake and I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable. The staff could seemingly not cope with the sheer amount of people in the establishment and certainly should not work in customer service!

I booked a play session for my sons birthday but didn’t realise until after I had paid that I had selected the SEN session. I rang up the next day to ask if I could get this changed or refunded and was told no. I can’t see why I couldn’t have my session rearranged. I have since emailed and called a few times now to speak to someone in charge but no one replies. I’d been told it was a great place to go but I’m reluctant to come now as the customer service seems poor.

We love coming here to play and with the new outside area it totally enhances the experience for the kids, giving them so much more to do. Our two always enjoy a run around castaway. However the food isn’t so good! The oatcakes were disgusting. I’ve never had oatcakes so bad and I’m not just saying that! They were all ready rolled on the counter so we’re obviously just heated up in the microwave when ordered. But the outside had gone all wrinkly and soggy and tasted like sweaty, dirty oil. I don’t even know how to describe the taste. The lady behind the till tried to blame it on the type of cheese used but it definitely wasn’t! I had a toastie instead but that wasn’t very nice either. The only good thing about the food were the individual pizzas. Good size for 2 kids, cheap at £4.50 each and tasty. And the kids lunch boxes. But you can’t go wrong with sandwiches right? I think they are still massively over booking the place, as even with masks, there’s not much room to social distance. And there aren’t enough tables for everyone either. I love the play area but will only be having coffee next time.

Positives, this is a great asset to Congleton. Lot's of thought has gone into the massive space. Suitable for 8 years and younger I would say. Very suitable for toddlers particularly. Lots to do, nice staff and food. Its clean and staff clean throughout the day too. Negative. It closes for parties as early as 2.30pm. I paid £6.50. Once paid I was then told it was closing early with no discount offered or suggested. My friend also had the same happen, she was told after she paid too. I feel staff should notify patrons first. It is a huge place and great for a rainy day, no idea why it closes entirely for a party. The place is so big. It cud close partly or not at all and separate a section. No notice on entry to say early closure. Such a shame as you never know if it will be open or closed on arrival.

Arrived today as a 1st visit and wont be returning. Older blonde lady with a ponytail seems to be the centre of the bad reviews and we found no different. Arrived at 1pm and the centre was fairly busy but plenty of seating and space. Ordered a kids sandwich box and then enquired if there were any other gluten free options as jacket potatoes were the only thing obvious on the board. The girl on the till kindly asked said older lady what the options were- I was snapped at very abruptly "I can make you a sandwich but you'll have to wait!" Now I understand they were 'busy' (4 people in the queue) but there was absolutely no need to make someone feel 2inches tall or a like they were asking for silver service, I would have quite happily waited until such a time that was suitable- I am used to it as most people with a food allergy are. I opted for a jacket potato to save the staff the apparent hassle to be met with 'we only have half a potato left'. It was 1pm.... absolutely fine- I would just like to sit down, eat and then for the ground to swallow me up. The half a spud turned up cold and without the lovely looking salad garnish everyone else seemed to have but by this time I didn't dare ask for it to be nuked or if I could possibly have a bit of salad! 15 minutes later a coeliac attack started so it had obviously been contaminated, again didn't dare comment for fear of being eaten by the one member of staff. We left after an hour feeling deflated. Low and behold Castaway posted on Facebook about not allowing picnics and cater to dietary requirements- I commented a factual and fair comment in the hope of some clarity only for the whole thing to vanish a few hours later. Luckly I had sent screenshots of it all to my husband and will now be taking it further as it obviously was an attempt to cover up any bad press or comeback. Coeliac or any other allergy is not a joke or and cannot be seen as a nuisance especially when you claim to cater for dietary requirements and do not allow patrons to bring their own supplies. Manners also cost nothing. The play centre itself is great and 99% of the staff were fabulous. It could be an amazing place to visit if a few little issues were taken onboard and addressed.

We have been visiting the cafe at Congleton Garden centre for many years, and are shocked by how quickly standards have deteriorated. We had lunch this week and the food, when it arrived, was lovely. However there appears to be no organization amongst the staff with the result that there are long waits, even to be given menus. This is really disappointing as this has been a favourite venue.

No menu...specials written on the board. Instead of the previous well thought out menu our choice of lunch was.......Piemaster pies. What a letdown. The pie was microwave heated, contained only one piece of meat, it tasted like stodge in heated cardboard. The fresh veg has been replaced by mushy peas. We used to follow with a choice of home made sweets.... not any more, they only do bought in . What a letdown. We have been customers here for many years, this was our first visit since the refurbishment, sadly very disappointing !!!our food (2 Roast Dinners and a Jacket potato and 3 glasses of water flavoured with lemon or lime and not given a choice of plain tap although this is what I ordered)was hot and flavoursome, service time was reasonable, however the atmosphere was very chaotic waitresses very confused with matching orders to tables, we were approached twice with wrong orders, the new system of queuing at the counter is very slow and arduous to the older section of your customer base very off putting as we witnessed by talking to a few around our table, we also counted at least 10 people walking out not wishing to endure the long delay at counter. As with others who have commented on the back room it’s a shame to have lost the area in the corner yet less room for a quiet coffee and we duly noted at least 3 maybe 4 tables of 4 now missing in the main restaurant area, losing the table menus is a bad move as the new blackboard menus are a little small hence making the print challenging for some to read.Sadly again due to the still long queue we passed on puddings and drinks as didn’t want another long wait, this throws up two questions, one how many more people felt the same way and surly it just compounds the problem of back up at the counter!! In conclusion thankfully the food is still good but for all the other changes I fear you’ve made a grave mistake your venue used to be a great all round experience for a full meal a snack or just a coffee sadly not anymore !! An old adage comes to mind ( If it ain’t broke don’t fix it )Come on people please take a long hard look at just what you’ve changed. Ps just a thought, we’ve noticed over the years you have a reasonable percentage of older customers who will miss the pleasure of table service and will not tolerate the long queuing time for self service as will the rest of your customer base once experienced. The pie crust was tough, this was mostly left, the filling, acceptable.Compared with the previous menus, before the alterations, consisting of, home made pie, various, a lovely assortment of veg, today was a total disappointment. Why the cafe has changed from proper waitress service to order at the till, get your own cutlery and find sauces and such, salt and pepper is on the table, no idea.Whoever decided on the drastic change of food stuff, big mistake.

I have frequented the restaurant for may years for some lunch and it has always been an enjoyable experience.....until today.I went there today and they have changed two things that have convinced be to not go there again.Firstly you used to sit down at a table and browse the menu or look at he specials board on the wall.A waitress would soon be over and take your order and provide you with utensils. Now you have to queue up whilst reading the menu that is now all on boards on the wall order your food and then go and get your own utensils etc..When I went in today the queue was long and slow moving- so I walked out.The second thing is that I noticed that the menu had altered and not for the better. It comprised of no items that may be accompanied by vegetables and had more items such as wraps. In short it has turned from being a restaurant and become a cafe.It is such a pity that an establishment that was doing so well for so long has felt the need to change.I shall not be returning!

We recently visited the Castaway Play with 2 small children (1 years & almost 3 years) & thoroughly enjoyed our visit - we could of spent at least another hour or so there.Friendly, welcoming staff & plenty of things for children to do.There is a small cafe within the play area which offers a range of hot & cold food & drinks as well as children's box meals. The play area consists of a large sand pit, a small soft play area, a bouncy castle, wooden climbing frame & slide, a river with boats, a kitchen play area, dinosaur & giant Lego play area, another wooden climbing frame complete with dress up costumes, a small paddling pool, another sand pit with diggers & a second small soft play area. There's also seating area around a large screen (the original Jungle Book was being played when we visited) - so there is definitely something for everyone.I'd recommend taking a change of clothes for kids because of the water areas & a change of socks for yourself as the floor can be a bit soggy. I really look forward to returning & have been telling other friends about it.

We decided to try the play area after seeing it recommended elsewhere. The play area is great, really well designed and nicely themed. It has a really nice range of activities. Everything from a kitchen, sand and water play, climbing wall, music corner and jungle treetops walk area. Our toddler loved it. We were limited to 2.5 hours. In theory, we could have spent a lot longer. Also I am not sure how that was going to be enforced. The Menu was simple and straight forward. Food was nice and the cakes were very good. There are high chairs. There is a reasonable amount of of seating, although I feel it could get tight at busy periods. The staff were working hard to keep things clean which was both good, but if you sat still too long, I was concerned I would have been cleaned up! The car park could do with enlarging to future proof the place. I can't comment on the garden centre as I didn't have a chance to look around. There was a general/disabled toilet and also a baby change with toilet. I feel for the number of patrons that seem to pass though, a few more toilets would be handy. We will certainly visit here again. This is a good place to go with kids.

Have visited the coffee shop on several occasions ,at mixed times of day,and different levels of business, overall the cleanliness appears spot on, the food has always been hot (if served hot) , fresh and appealing, as have drinks ..I often request an extra hot latte, service times are acceptable never experienced a delay of too long even when busy, menu choice is good . Parking is ok , although often busy, however I feel more disabled places could be available. Finally the staff , overall they are friendly and obliging, of smart appearance, with good communication and customer service skills, I've noticed without prejudice they have in my terms an older team , and a younger team ...the older team have the edge, the younger ones are also good , however I have been served twice by one of the younger members and on both occasions she really seemed to have an I don't really want to be here persona , this has been my only criticism otherwise 5* no probs, I used to be a catering manager and to me service matters .

Called in today for lunch. Waitress service at the table was excellent didn't have to wait at all for our food and drinks even though it was busy. Food was reasonably priced and was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

we regular call to the Congleton Garden Centre not a very large garden centre but most items are better priced than the big centres the plant selection is quite limited but that is fully justified by the cost

Hoy llegaron por primera vez con mi madre y padre como recomendaron a la comida. ¡Yo no me decepcionó!

Staff here tend to be dismissive unless a regular which is quite off putting. Prices in farm shop a little higher than quality dictates and the cafe food has room for improvement especially on presentation & quality. Plants tend to be better value.

Average food more like a pub, raw onion in the scotch egg bhaji, bang bang cauliflower poor, fish and chips were tiny and fish dry. So over priced for below average food.

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

Would have liked to have given 5 stars... But the cheeky so and so's carpark has sent us a parking charge notice!!!!! We've eaten in pubs and restaurants, all over the country and never ever had to pay for parking, I don't even remember seeing anywhere to pay for parking? We were so pleased with the food that we were going to make it our regular stop when we go to the nearby airport monthly. Well certainly not going to be doing that now!

We stopped off here for early dinner after a day at Quarry bank mill. We hadn’t pre booked and they managed to fit us in. Friendly service and the food was wonderful! I had rotisserie chicken with the roost special sauce which would highly recommend, absolutely delicious. My husband had a burger which he said was very good. My son had a pizza from the kids menu which was wood fired and great quality. Milk shakes were insanely good!
