First of all the shining star of this pub is the amazing staff, couldn’t do enough to make sure everything was perfect. Which it was. Sunday lunch is to die for, lots of fresh veg and meat cooked to perfection. Make sure you leave room for a pudding, the apple crumble cannot be missed! Thank you for fitting us in with no notice. The pub atmosphere is warm and welcoming drinks and food are reasonably priced. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Lived in Knutsford for over 10 years and have drove past this pub on many occasions. Was invited by a friend who’d moved close by the pub to meet up for Sunday lunch. What an absolute gem !!! There was no menu, it’s a Sunday roast and it was delicious. We had made a mess up on our booking and even though the pub was full, they moved things around to accommodate us. The landlord and landlady are old school publicans, as in they care about their customers which was evident by the interaction with their regulars. The lady who takes care of the roasts was lovely and popped out to make sure that you had enough of everything and was happy to fetch more sauces or gravy. Loved this place and will definitely be back and lastly, as I didn’t want to start with this because the roast dinner was so good, there’s the price. For 2 large roast dinners, (there is an option for a smaller roast dinner for the faint-hearted) plus 2 rounds of drinks, came to about £40 Craig & Joanna

Group of five of us popped in for lunch whilst out on a bike ride, not having booked. Pub was good and busy but very accommodating. On Sundays they only do their roast options at the moment but they put on a light lunch of soup for some of the party. As for the Sunday roast options, both the veggie and roast ham versions were delicious. Have also been on other occasions and this is a Sam Smiths establishment with their usual beers and weekday menu. Fundamentally a good value traditional pub, very friendly, would recommend.

I am a regular here. It's a Sam Smith's pub with all that that means - so the menu is standardised and all the drinks are Sam Smith's branded, so don't come if you want fancy decor, a choice of real ales or a huge wine list. And no swearing or using your Smartphone at table! But do come if you want a genuine pub and excellent value. That's got to be good, hasn't it? And this is undoubtedly one of the best Sam Smiths pubs and the fact that it is so busy is testimony to that. The chef has been there long term, which is a good sign, and the flavours he brings to the food make it stand out from ordinary pub fare. But while the food is generous and flavoursome, this is still a proper pub, which the locals flock to, so it has the character of being part of the community. There's loads of parking and a huge beer garden too.

I've been going to the Parkgate for a few years. This place is an absolute credit to the great couple running it and to Sam Smiths brewery. The beer is always good, the place is spotlessly clean, traditional hospitality and wonderful food at cheap prices. A lot of so called "gastro pubs" could take a leaf from the Parkgate. Beer is £2 a pint, mild is £1.34 and lager from £1.36. If you go for the wonderful Sunday lunch book before you arrive. It gets very busy !

a lot of reviews have said that this pub is like stepping back in time - and it is. but there are some strange things that happen here. the choice of wine is one red (a passable chilean cabernet sauvignon) or one white chenin blanc (nice). they have no champagne prosecco or cava - we were on a celebratory lunch (70th birthday and golden wedding with our brothers) and it would have been nice to have some bubbles; but it was not to be.

Would not recommend; after eating our food, we discovered that the vinegar pot had clouds floating in it, after closer inspection, the bottle had small dead flies floating round in it, at least 10. After confronting the landlady, and advising her of this matter, she said "Oh i changed those on Sunday. thanks for bringing this to me" - not bloody likely, and no apology, no discount, no reassurance... won't be re-visiting, and feel physically sick now

Sam Smiths are always such super pubs. And how come they're so cheap? Not that I'm complaining: quality is never compromised. This pub is in such good order - smart but still a proper pub, not a 'restaurant'. That said, it's still a great place to eat. But what I really love is the proper pub feel. Bar staff are great: chatty and friendly, and there is a great atmosphere around the bar of an evening. So if you want a place to go for a beer, that's cheap like Wetherspoons, but without all the head-the-balls, this is the place.

My partner and I have cycled past here many times, and finally decided to stop for lunch. It was a lovely day so we sat in the far outside seating area enjoying the weather. Inside the pub is traditional, the back entrance leads to a tap room, I could see there were a number of other rooms to choose from if indoor seating is required. Food selection was fine, and we ordered a light lunch of breaded mushrooms and sandwich and chips. The food was brought to our distant table and was very good - especially the chips. It was also very good value. We will return.

It was under £20 for two meals and drinks and it's not an average meal you'd expect to get for that low price, it was really well cooked and everything was fresh which was excellent! Over Peover lies squarely within the triangle of land bounded by Knutsford, Wilmslow/Alderley Edge and Macclesfield, right in the heart of Cheshire's "footballer and banker" belt and if you're looking for a place to eat in that area, you can easily find yourself in an eatery with fancy menus and even fancier prices. So it was really good to find in the heart of a picture postcard estate village - the historic hall's just a short distance away westwards across the fields - a straightforward local pub offering generous portions of uncomplicated and appetizing plain food at very affordable prices. It's not fancy: from the outside the pub looks as if it might have originally been a couple of agricultural labourers' cottages knocked together, internally the doors, windows and decor still look the part, and you eat your meal off a plain scrubbed wooden table. But that's the way we like it - especially when the plates are well loaded with as much food as you might conceivably want to eat!The couple who appear to run the pub also serve the meals, and were welcoming and and attentive throughout our visit; the service was quick and the meals arrived on the table piping hot. Highly recommended; the only downside is that if you've come to Over Peover with the intention of walking the field footpaths through the peaceful and pleasant local countryside, I'd recommend that you walk first and eat afterwards. If you try it the other way round, you may well find that you're too stuffed to walk more than a couple of hundred yards - especially if, as we did, you've chosen one of the extremely filling pies!

We called in over the weekend and were really happy with our dining experience in this very traditional and authentic English pub. Friendly relaxed service, and a comfy ambiance and a great place to enjoy well cooked and tasty meals. We can't wait to return.

Excellent Sunday lunch & the vegetarian option was outstanding. Superb value for money. We had no room in our tummy for pudding but we will definitely be returning to remedy that one.The staff are all very friendly and they gave our dogs a bowl of water as soon as we arrived.

We had a traditional Sunday lunch here. The food was excellent as was the service. Very friendly, traditional, old fashioned English pub. Don't expect modern made to look old decor- this is the real thing- beams, low ceilings, real fires, and good beer. Great value for money too.

Great open fires and excellent beer. Very friendly staff and chatty locals. Ideal place to stop off for refreshments whilst out for a walk in the Cheshire countryside.

This has Re opened after a long closure. It's good that it is back, it's nothing fancy, but if you like a quite beer in informal surroundings then it hits the spot.

Visited this pub for the first time tonight which has now opened under new management. It is a traditional pub and on a cold night like this it was lovely to see log fires burning. The menu was made up of good wholesome food which tasted delicious.I will definitely be visiting again in the very near future, probably on Sunday for lunch.Well worth a visit and value for money.

The Yellow Broom is best described as a blend of pure elegance with a splash of sophistication. The setting is undeniably beautiful, complemented by a warm welcome from the staff, who are clearly well-trained in delivering exceptional silver service. The menu offers a well-balanced selection of cuisine, ensuring there's something to delight every palate. The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite, and the flavors were simply delightful. The staff were remarkably attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant were both appealing and comfortable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The Yellow Broom is a truly first-class establishment that consistently maintains high standards. I highly recommend a visit—you will not be disappointed.
