We were an extended family group, meeting at the Golden Pheasant for a family lunch. We had all travelled some distance, Bristol, Derby, London, Rugby, Manchester and Wilmslow, What we needed was exactly what was provided: a very well-cooked lunch, in a warm, clean and comfortable environment, with quick, kind and thoughtful service. The outside playground was perfect for the small children in the party. We stayed quite a long time as we were a large group to cater for, and lunch was quite drawn out, but although it was a busy Sunday, at no point were we ever made to feel uncomfortable about being there. This was important because of the distance travelled. We were looked after by Ellen, who was extremely attentive. The occasion was an anniversary of a deceased loved family member, so it was important that the day went well, and the Golden Pheasant looked after us with faultless understated comfort and informality. It was a very good memory.

This was our third visit, and for the third time we experienced lovely food and great service. It was very busy during this visit but staff remained friendly and attentive. We were not asked how our food was during our meal, but we put this down to our peak time dining. What I can say is that we really enjoyed our meal. The Pheasant is a lovely venue with a lovely outdoor space with play area for children, friendly atmosphere, and good menu. Would also like to thank Amy for looking after our table and providing service with a smile.

The Golden Pheasant is a charming country-style pub with a wonderfully warm and inviting atmosphere. We happened upon it by chance, needing a stopover on our drive from Inverness to the South Coast, and it turned out to be perfectly located around the halfway mark. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, and I was genuinely impressed by the high standard of the rooms. We had dinner in the main bar, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, with a special shoutout to the three-cheese pie—absolutely delicious! Ellen was our server and was really great. Overall, this is a fantastic place to take a break and recharge, and the EV chargers are a brilliant bonus. Looking forward to staying here again on our next trip to Scotland!

Visited for family Sunday lunch. Very busy which is a good sign, showing how popular it is. Unfortunately no direction or welcome when entering the pub as having booked a table to notify arrival. Just had to grad any member of staff that was near. Good location in the pub for the table, nice and comfortable. Good choice of available drinks (considering the higher standard of pub compared to others in the local area the prices were VERY good...cheaper in fact!) Good quality wine, even the house white!! Sunday menu so not the fuller menu of normal, but still variety of options. Some starters that you wouldn't expect of a pub, calamari and crab as examples. Number in the party opted for the Sunday roast, had the standard options, Beef, Lamb, Turkey, plus meat of the day being Pork.. Lot of meat on the roast, and plenty of vegetables good yorkie (not like a brick of other places). Some of part choice from the menu, fish and chips were cooked very well.. Batter of the fish light and crispy, gammon steak (with option of egg/pineapple or 2eggs) was large and cooked perfectly. Both meals with triple cooked chips. Couple chose to have deserts chocolate brownie was very nice and hot. Also do a smaller option that comes with coffee which is a good idea. One had chocolate brownie with flat white and other raspberry ripple artic slice and latte. Received bill and was happily surprised on the cost, value for money! Would recommend this place

What a fabulous Sunday lunch today for my daughter’s birthday. We were served by Ellie and nothing was too much trouble for her. She understood the needs of my children, my Mum who is a wheelchair user and even treated my daughter to a special dessert with candles. A lovely experience and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you Ellie and to all the staff, a delicious meal.

Table booked for Sunday @ 6pm. Waitress showed us to our table and took our drinks order - waited twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive whilst we chose our food. Waitress came to take our food order, 2 X Sunday Roasts. Waitress then returned, no Sunday roasts left. Ordered 1 x gammon and 1 x steak. After 30 minutes our meals arrived cold and greasy. Couldn’t find a waitress to complain to, should have walked out however by this time it was 7pm. I went to the bar to complain just a simple apology and no offer of a reduction in the bill. We used to come to The Golden Pheasant regularly however it has gone down in our opinion. Very rowdy and noisy customers, poor service, poor food.

We were local and decided to try this place. It is lovely inside with lots of parking. The waitress (French I think) who served us was fantastic and service was very good. They were busy and we went at bang on 12. I suspect the food is normally very good and perhaps we were a bit unlucky. The pie was dry and I overcooked but chips and mushy pease good. The fish was a bit sloppy and not great. Haloumi fries were nice and cauliflower cheese could have done with a thicker sauce. Service 10 but food due to pie and fish only a 6. Think we just had an off one perhaps.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding in the local area. We arrived early and were met by Karen, who arranged our check in and looked after us at breakfast for our entire stay. Karen was fantastic! She went above and beyond to make our stay a comfortable one. Nothing was too much trouble at breakfast, even when we requested items that weren’t listed on the menu. On our second morning she had our drinks ready and waiting for us as she remembered our order from the day before. We also had dinner on one night, which was delicious. Again, great staff and super service. The rooms are a little warm so you may need to use the fan that is provided. However the bed was comfy and the room was a good size. The bathroom was fresh and clean with warm towels and amenities ready for us. We can’t thank the staff at The Golden Pheasant enough, especially Karen, who is a valuable asset to their team. We have just stayed for one night and, on checking out, found the assistant manager very helpful and extremely responsive. This pub with rooms has all the ingredients to be something special i.e. pleasant location, lovely rooms with a very comfortable bed (room 1) and fantastic choice and quality of breakfast. BUT you cannot get hold of anyone on the phone to answer any queries or get a response via email even though we tried both means of communication many many times across several days leading up to our stay. Our questions merely being about an early check in and what time was breakfast. We were also told that we couldn't get a drink at 11:30pm because the tills had been cashed in - we were going to pay by card or could ha e put them on the room! The pub is also still sending automatic emails out in Zach's name - he left the company over two years ago! In summary and looking into the future, if the guy who checked us out today is involved in the ongoing ideas with the place and the business' processes then it should thrive.

Stayed at the Golden Pheasant for a Saturday night, its a large property on a pleasant country road, the carpark is very big and seemed safe, there was also a charging point. you can enter the property from the car park back entrance making it easier, on arrival the staff are all very pleasant, from the outset you can tell this is a very professional premises, A traditional type hotel/pub with not one but a few open log fires, very welcoming, Had a meal that was excellent with a brilliant service, the bar and staff were also top class and a great range of drinks, The bedroom was clean and tidy and for a cold winters Saturday night was very warm, and the heating was available all night if required, We did not have the most expensive room in the Hotel/pub so cannot comment on those, though our room which was the cheaper of all the options was very nice with plenty of plug sockets Like all reviews you can find fault , and if we dug deep we could also, on a personal / preference would have liked a softer larger bed, though appreciate its a difficult one to get right, all in all a very pleasant stopover, and would certainly visit again.

The Golden Pheasant is an oasis of calm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is great - loved the fact that dogs are allowed in the bar area and in winter months, there's always a fire. The rooms are spacious, clean and ultra comfortable and loved the vintage wooden furniture with crisp linen sheets, heated towel rails and all the mod cons! My son had breakfast in the morning and really enjoyed his Eggs Benedict with perfect poached eggs. Thanks to all the staff for their warm welcome during what was a sad, difficult family visit. Its sometime since we had been to this pub but we were passing and as it was my wife’s birthday we decide to call in at lunch time. It was a saturday and very cold, icy roads. There are usually a couple of fires going which makes it an attractive place to go on a cold day. It wasn’t very busy. There is a leather chesterfield in front of a fire in a dining area. and there was a woman with two dogs ,the dogs were sitting on the chesterfield. She was oblivious of the people around irritation that she and her dogs were sat in a dining area. Myself I dont like dogs where food is being served. even less when dogs are lying there and scratching themselves on seats that other people are going to sit on when they are gone. The table we were on hadnt been cleared so we asked one of the staff to clear it, which they did. But they never bothered about the mess on the table it was just left. I had to go back and ask for the table to be cleaned. The food came which was fine. The sort you get in most pubs. But I am afraid I wouldnt go back because of the hygiene. Staff were stroking the dogs and then handling peoples meals. Its not on as far as I am concerned , no animals should be allowed in eating areas and tables should be cleared and cleaned without having to ask.

We arrived late due to a motorway closure for a wedding reception at another local venue but were treated with a helpful and calm response by the manager and his team.As a family we had 5 rooms booked and we left our baggage and went off.On return our baggage has been looked after and placed in our rooms. The rooms were adequate and had good facilities including a fan ( I would expect in the summer they would be warm). The breakfast had a good selection and was served at the table - the food was tasty hot and hearty. The reason for me taking time to write this was the way we were looked after by the duty manager who took time to talk to us and offer advice she was fairly new in the post but had a great attitude and personality and that was the same for our waitress who unfortunately had locked herself in a dark out building and had to be rescued she took her ordeal with fun but you could see she was a little shook up.Great location in the Cheshire countryside great service and food and relaxing tidy rooms. Thanks to everyone.

Having stayed at the Golden Pheasant a couple of months ago, we decided to stay again, what with it being a perfect midpoint for our journey between London and Glasgow. Arrived on the later side due to traffic and was advised that there should be a table in the restaurant in half an hour so we got ourselves up to our room and came back down a little later. Server got us a table and we ordered dinner and drinks, had our meal and relaxed for a while before going back up to our room. Breakfast service the next morning was friendly and attentive. Upon checking out we were asked if we'd paid for meal the previous night, which we had done by card rather than putting the meal on the room. It transpired some other diners hadn't paid and they were trying to find out who it was. Anyhow, another good stay, will probably be back the next time we're travelling to and from London.

I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon with family. We often come to the golden pheasant and have found that recently standards have dropped and as someone in the hospitality industry I have definitely noticed this, as much as I hate it I can’t help but watch. The staff clearly need more training and someone to manage them better, I found that they didn’t know anything about the menus or what was going on, they could barely manage to sit us at a table without asking each other for help. They were also not particularly attentive, I watched multiple members of staff continuously walk past and having chats with each other having seen that we’d finished our starters for a bit. When it came to getting the bill it actually had a lot of the wrong things on it and was a bit all over the place, again I think this is just lack of training. However, the food was really lovely and and came out in good time. The menu always has a good range of seasonal options. The drinks were also brought over quickly and empty glasses cleared promptly and most of the staff are friendly polite people.

Really disappointed with our outing to The Golden Pheasant. After having looked around, we booked for a celebratory birthday meal. I expressed in my reservation that this was for a special occasion and we were assured we would have a quiet table for five, not in the back corner. Upon arrival, we were out in the back corner, staff didn’t give us a drinks menu but pounced upon us before our whole party had arrived. When we said we would like a wine list we were almost met with contempt! We asked to move tables and made to feel like this was an inconvenience. With the exception of one young server, staff were abrupt and rude. Come 9pm the pub quiz began and this was exceptionally loud with the quizmaster shouting, coming across the bar and shouting and then the music round began! When I asked for the bill, after 20minutes it still hadn’t arrived; I had to walk to the bar and pay.Thoroughly disappointed and annoyed that a birthday evening was such a let down.

The bed four poster was a bit hard for my liking, and the pillows too soft. (No I’m not one of the three bears). Hanging space for clothes a bit limited. Nice friendly service, good restaurant with great range on the menu. Lovely outdoor seating area and a play area if you have kids. Well decorated thoughout. Outside in need of renovation, which has begun. Unfortunately our room was above a noisy machine on a floor below and so we did not get to sleep until late. Also the room was very warm with a winter duvet on the bed which we removed from it's cover so we could just have the sheet. The bed and pillows smelled of sweat and so we marked down on cleanliness. I didn't mind the view of scaffolding from the window but the bags of rubbish and weeds could easily have been removed to mitigate. We were on a break from a long journey so the stay was overshadowed by the poor nights sleep and we would avoid the place for this reason in future but the Hotel is otherwise very nice, room was nicely decorated and the restaurant pleasant. Ask to avoid rooms 2 anbd 3.

We haven’t been here for a while, but it was a good choice as we had a lovely lunch. We had the set two course lunch for £12 which was really good value. I had sea bass with skinny fries and salsa and my other half had the fish pie, followed by sticky toffee pudding and strawberry sundae. As we had our dog with us we ate in the bar area which was spotlessly clean. Service was also very good.

Had two roast platters between the 4 of us and they were tasty and large - got a doggy bag to take the last few bits. Service was quick and friendly!

Stayed overnight at the Golden Pheasant to break journey from Scotland to South West. Very handy for M6. Clean and comfortable room, welcoming and attentive staff, we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast. Plenty of outdoor seating and a nice garden to relax in with a pint after the usual horrors of the M6. Would definitely recommend the Golden Pheasant.

We were on the road and looking for an overnight stay between London and Glasgow and after a lot of searching came across The Golden Pheasant. Knowing that we'd enjoy a stop with a restaurant and bar, it seemed ideal so booked direct as it gave the deal, and left a little message to make sure there was parking as some sites had been a little ambiguous about this. As we were driving I was in and out of phone signal but later recieved a voicemail to confirm that there was lots of parking, great that they called. In a few hours we arrived and were told we'd been upgraded, obviously due to COVID things were still relatively quiet but the room was very spacious, well equipped with great tea and coffee facilities (Teapigs tea bags too!). We went down to the beer garden where we sat and enjoyed a few pints. Later went into the restaurant for a meal which was superb, very generous portions, no space for dessert! Back up to the room to watch a Euros match and settled in for the night. Next morning had a great breakfast and departed an hour or two later. We will be earmarking this one for future stops, especially if the weather is good because the beer garden was great.

I had lamb shank & my wife had fillet steak. Both were absolutely delicious as was the cheeseboard and lemon posset to follow. The cheese board came with not one, but two slices of very nice fruit cake. (One would have been enough, but I persevered) Wines by the glass were very nice. Other diners also looked to be having a good time too

What a lovely family meal! The food was great and the outside area is brilliant for the kids. We were a large party of 11 and the service was fantastic - a special mention should go to Ellen who looked after us very well!

We were a small party for a 60th birthday lunch. Weather glorious and we were seated in the garden room looking out onto the beautiful lawns and carefully spread out tables. Rhys met us at the door and showed us to our tables and Ellen was superb at taking our orders and serving our food. Bothered of these lovely people were cheerful and attentive. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The view added to the atmosphere and we all commented that it would be a great venue for a wedding (photos would be stunning)The food was delicious as always ranging from prawn cocktails, pea and mint fritters, pie of the day, risotto, fish and chips to the decadent Eton mess. Lovely. My husband and I visit often and will be back there again soon. But today felt particularly special

Fabulous lunch, we did prebook as quite busy. Greeted by Joe who was really friendly and explained all the covid safety procedures, which felt really safe. Great menu choice and very reasonable prices. No trouble to move outdoors into the lovely garden as the sun was out. Food service was by a friendly and efficient Alex.

Good beer Brilliantly cooked food - the sea bass was top notch. Really recommend the set lunch but there is a wide choice on the menu. Good for kids too as a large playground. Sit in or out. JA

Beautiful surroundings and very well kept. Extensive beer garden with heaters and playground but far away as not to make it feel like a crèche. Friendly service courtesy of Alex.

Cheap beer but that's about it. Only pub I know where you have to queue in an orderly line to get to the bar! Can't comment on the food

This is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The personnel can’t do enough for you especially Pan and Angie. We have been here 3 months in a row and each time Pam and Angie have been superb ambassadors for the hotel

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.
