Since I was a young child my mother always taught me when choosing to eat at any fine dining establishment always look at how clean their curtains are. I’m pleased to say that upon inspection that the cleanliness of the front curtains in the spinners was exemplary. The cleanist curtains I’ve seen hands down. I genuinely thought the curtains were the best it could get. How wrong was I??? I was met by Alex on my arrival. Genuinely the most heart warming welcome I’ve felt in an establishment ever. I can only compare the love and warmth I experienced to how Luke Skywalker felt towards the rebel rebellion whilst trying to destroy the death star. The food!!! F**k me. I felt like I was back in the the streets of Mumbai gorging myself on the exemplary culinary delights on offer. If I could award the lovely Alex and the Spinners team a Michelin star it really wouldn’t be enough. To summarise: Fantastic clean curtains, a great host in Alex and a genuine distain for the galactic empire. Would I come again??? F**k yes!!!

We came for the first time last week as part of Mild Magic. Accessibility: to be fair, I didn't even try to get in the pub as my husband didn't think it would be easy in my wheelchair. Plus, it was a lovely day for drinking outside. There is a carpark, which is quite a steep slope with gravel and it's quite uneven. I did roll down, to the consternation of onlookers, but my husband complained about pushing me back up. However, once you've battled the car park, there was a ramp up to the outside eating area, so someone's had disability thoughts at some point. I have no idea if there is a disabled toilet inside and the website doesn't say. There are lovely views over Bollington recreation ground, where we could watch a game of cricket. In the distance, you can just about see White Nancy through the trees. It was altogether very civilised. We enjoyed our Bollington brewery mild so much that we decided to get food as they had vegan options. I had a vegan hot dog, which was nothing fancy, but very nice. The staff were lovely, but the policy of taking a name rather than table numbers meant they were wandering around with our food for a while before they found us. It's not the waiting staff's fault, we just didn't hear them. The pub is dog friendly, with water bowls provided. There were a lot of cyclists and walkers, presumably because it's so close to the Middlewood Way. We'll definitely come back, but I might attempt to get inside next time.

An absolutely appalling Sunday lunch. Staff in hotel reception were too busy chatting to direct us to the restaurant. On entering the restaurant there was no one to book us in, A staff member at the bar continued a casual conversation without acknowledging us. 5 minutes later took us to a table. The vegetarian item was different to the advertised item with our Wowcher deal menu. We ordered and after waiting some time but the starters didn't arrive, instead our main course arrived, we had not had our starter! An afternoon tea also arrived, but was not our order! The main course went back to the kitchen and given the assurance that we would have a completely fresh meal cooked. The server gave the excuse that the 'chef' had his mind on the wedding reception they were also catering for. Our starters were eaten and upon taking away the dirty plates we were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu! (We had not had our main courses). Our main courses arrived but bypassed us to head to a different table, eventually arriving at our table. It was as predicted, very much on the cool side. The image we had seen on Hollin Hall's website was nothing like the meal we were served. The Yorkshire Pudding was small, completely unrisen and undercooked. No stuffing was served with the chicken. The vegetables chopped into small rubbery chunks of carrots, parsnips and onion were rubbery and overcooked. All the food was lukewarm. No checkback was made during the meal. As the plates were cleared we were asked if the meal was OK, but had to be honest and report it was the worst Sunday lunch we had ever eaten. The server apologised saying they were short staffed as they had a wedding on! As we got up to leave no one came to offer the bill or take our voucher, so we had to leave it on their reception desk. No one bid us goodbye or thanked us for our custom. We felt very undervalued. I suggest on such occasions they should not even attempt to serve what they advertise as a Sunday Lunch when they are catering for weddings. Without a doubt we will NOT be returning for any reason. Avoid at all costs.
