Our Sunday evening meal was a very mixed experience. My risotto from the specials board was just about warm and served in a bowl with some grated cheese on top. For a price of £14.75 it was tasteless, cold and unappetising. Two of the wonderful young ladies on the staff refunded the cost of my meal. My partner fared somewhat better with the roast beef option which was average. The big strength of The Vale was its young staff who were highly apologetic, professional and embarrassed by the state of food they were serving. Sadly the same can’t be said for their manager who remained leaning against the bar. We won’t be returning.

Called for lunch with a friend & we were the only 2 in most of the time. Lovely pub, good lay out & very clean. Unfortunately, the food we chose was very disappointing. The Chilli & Rice was ok but quite bland, and the Vale Mac N Cheese was cooked dry pasta with no sauce at all. We asked the server if it was meant to be like that & she said she would check with the chef. On leaving, I asked what he'd said & she replied, "Oh, I don't know, I didn't ask."

Friday lunchtime treat and we were blown away with the food. The team reserved a table for us with plenty of space for our pram. We had the beef brisket beer hotdog with fries and coleslaw and it was divine. Huge portion lovely fresh cooked food, we really enjoyed it. My brother rates the oatmeal stout as the best beer around. Thank you to the vale!

Had an excellent Sunday lunch washed down with fantastic local ales. The service appeared a bit slow but I suspect this is because the food is freshly cooked - I had sirloin beef which was cooked to perfection with nice vegetables. My wife had the salmon with samphire which was also nicely cooked. Prices reasonable. Also dog friendly. We will definitely come back.

Excellent fish and chips at the Vale, the slab of cod is the meatiest and juiciest I have had in a long time. Actually, the best! Two fish'n'chips, 1 pint Bolly best, 1 small red wine = £38. Good value.

My wife and I decided to share a crispy fried chicken with maple sauce. When it did actually arrive, why it took so long to make a sandwich is beyond me but it was not worth waiting for. When the member of staff actually took on board my complaint he was not particularly interested but did say we could have something else but time was against us. The best lunch we had during our stay was in the Plums Kitchen in Macclesfield

Nice beers from the brewery literally a few doors down. Minimal beer mileage! Quaint cosy place, quite small. Food was quick as we'd pre ordered. Decent prices. Some people complained about cold chips, but my food was fine. The sheer amount of kids in there (though well behaved) wasn't my cup of tea but it is half term. Would go back if I'm in the area, mostly for the beers!

The food was very nice and atmosphere lively but service utterly casual. We had to go and get our menus ourselves, call across to the bar to ask to be served. Waitress made a point of clearing up tables before coming over to take order. Totally lack of manners or interest at the bar. Seemed like everything too much effort. It's a shame because the food and atmosphere would tempt us back were it not for off hand service.

Have eaten here many times before. Today very disappointed. Limited menu, roast, pies, fishnchips, gammon or bangersnmash. Chose the cheese and onion pie, more pastry and air than filling, mushy peas lukewarm, couldn't have skinny fries instead of chunky chips??? Table sticky. When asked by the waitress if everything was OK I said alright but not the best; she completely ignored me. Not bad enough to send back but, sadly, would not be in a hurry to eat here again.

My partner took me here a few years ago and as the summer has come along I have found myself here very often. Dog friendly, with an outdoor bar and slush (weather depending) you can sit outside and enjoy the local cricket matches from the beer garden. The specials change regularly and they usually have a cheesecake or 3 to try (burned vanilla in my case… gorgeous!) The special was the calzone this time around and they were gorgeous, a local Bollington brewery beer for him too! Stonework, lit fire and a proper country atmosphere, warm, friendly service. Become a firm favourite for my partner!

Cracking little pub, nestled in the small town of Bollington, just yards away from the Brewery that supplies most of its Ales. (Bollington Brewery). The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the food is superb (we ate from daily menu on the Saturday evening, and Sunday Roasts the following day). Every dish was excellent, but the real winner for me is the Bacon Cheese Sauce on the loaded fries and the hot dog. Outstanding!! Keep doing what you're doing The Vale! We have been here before and sat outdoors with a group at the rear, but on a wet day we headed inside. It’s a pleasant environment - no screens or sport, a little more like being in someone’s home, appealingly decorated and all feeling very clean. Clean toilets, well appointed. We both ordered sandwiches - the steak and blue cheese, and the salmon and cream cheese. My advice would be to maybe go for the sandwiches which feature toasted bread. Today was the second time this week I have been in a pub and the sandwich has featured dry bread, as if the early customers receive bread that has been sitting par-cut, overnight. The other ingredients were fresh (salmon, cream cheese, mesculun) but with dry bread, it wasn’t great and I really wished I had ordered a different lunch. The same could be said for my drink. £6.50 for a white wine spritzer with soda water but the soda water was just flat water and the wine must have been sitting in the bottle for quite some time, so what I got was a bad watered-down wine - very unimpressive. Makes me realise how fortunate I have been this summer as I haven’t had a poor experience of a white wine spritzer in a pub before. There is enough to like about this place that we will return and hope this was just a “not quite so good” day.

Impressed with the interior of this country pub, part of the Bollington Brewery chain. Unfortunately there was quite a queue when we arrived, late afternoon, but the service was friendly. I had the Moravka, brewed to a Czech recipe and it was very good. I prefer traditional cask ales but I do enjoy their Dinner ale. Beer garden is fairly extensive, think there are two(?) and the view over to what looks like a cricket pitch could be handy if there was a match on. Only issue is you have to carry your drinks outside the pub and across an unevenly covered car park to get to the garden, unless there's a short cut! Definitely call here first next time I'm in Bolly.

Called in for a drink on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Despite the place being full, both outside and in, we were served quickly and managed to find seats in a cosy snug with a wood fire burning. We were only here for drinks on this occasion, but all the food we saw looked fabulous and the sounds of appreciation we heard suggested it tasted as good too. The staff were friendly, approachable and calm - despite being rushed off their feet. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, ace staff. Will definitely come back to sample the food - but will definitely book first!

Always a favourite venue. The food was really enjoyable as usual. However, although the service was good, there was overuse of the phrase "no worries" from the waitress! No lactose free milk alternative available so went elsewhere for coffee and cake where our needs were met.

Some of the worst service i have ever experienced, extremely slow, long wait times the entire time, multiple different service staff instead of just the same one, asked for two small wines but instead they brought over two large wines, we had steaks but it was served without steak knives, for an 8oz sirloin steak and 4 cherry tomatoes it cost £36, £4 for a tiny sauce and £5 for a bowl of chips. Anytime we actually wanted something we had to flag someone down to take our order, just generally poor service. We got billed for the two large wines even though we got small ones eventually, also they added a gratuity which is absolutely hilarious, asked them to take it off. The couple next to us actually got up and left because the main took over an hour to arrive for them, i also witnessed the staff telling to fully comp two entire tables because of delays, and someone else also didnt pay for a starter because he said it was terrible. This was on a Tuesday evening, not even that busy. 100% never returning to this place.
